Airport express joins wireless (green flash on) but airplay doesn't work? I have turn off the firewall on the router, but still I cannot connct wireless to the airport express.

I know, especially stupid that it doesn't work in stabilisation mode as its often that mode used in lower light situations that would benefit from the flash... have no idea why BB doesn't allow US to chose when we want a certain function.

Airport Express Join Wireless Network Disables Ethernet

I have one of the the older Airport Express (firmware 6.3) and I'm trying to use it to connect a non-wireless machine to an existing network.
Act as a single Wi-Fi interface to any computer or almost any other devices such as game consoles that has an Ethernet port but doesn't itself have built-in Wi-Fi
If I choose "join a wireless network" it appears to disable the ethenet port. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong.
My Setup
ADSL Modem ------ Time Capsule ---[wireless-g]--- Airport Express ---[ethernet]---Computer

Unfortunately, the Ethernet port is disabled when you configure the older AirPort Express version that you have to "join a wireless network"
It can be enabled in the newer 802.11n version, which uses firmware 7.x.x. Sorry, not possible up update the Express that you have since hardware changes were made in the 802.11n model.

I bought an Airport Express to extend my Airport Extreme about a month ago. It worked great until 2 weeks ago it started flashing amber. I reset it and set it up via airport utility and it would work for a little while, with great connection, and then it resumes the flashing amber light. Here is the error message:
"This AirPort base station was unable to extend the wireless network. Make sure the wireless network you're trying to extend was set up and is working correctly, that you entered a matching wireless network password into this device, and that this device is in range of the wireless network."
The Airport Extreme is in working condition, in range, and entered in correctly. I do not understand how it can work great for a second and then stop.

Power off both the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express

Power up the AirPort Extreme, and let it run a few minutes
Then, power up the AirPort Express
If you continue to have difficulty, ask Apple to replace the AirPort Express.

I installed Adobe Flash Player but it doesn't work.

Your above posted list of installed plugins shows that you have the Flash plugin.
You can verify that you have the Flash plugin for Firefox on the Adobe Flash Players Test Page.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
There is also security software (firewall) with features to block Flash content, so you may need to look there as well.

Tried installing new Flash Player but it doesn't work.

I went to view a video online and it said i needed an new version of Flash player so i clicked on the link and i downloaded the newest version. I unistalled all of my old Adobe versions first. It said installation complete but now EVERYTHING that used Flash before (Pandora, You Tube, Hulu, etc) doesn't work. I keep trying to uninstall and re-install but nothing changes. My adobe reader works, but not Adobe Flash. HELP!!

Hi, You didn't say what operating system or browser(s) you are using. If you are using IE, go to your manage add ons
and look for Shockwave Flash Object..and see if Flash10e.ocx is listed with it and it is Enabled. If you use FF, find the plug-in SWF and it is 10.0.45.2 and enabled.
You can also check your Flash files to see if all of the old FP was removed and the new was installed.

Airport express joins wireless, not ethernet.

I have tried to figure this one out the last two days. Initially I wanted to connect the AE to my router through ethernet as a client using dhcp, leaving the wireless radio on the AE disabled. The router was going to handle all connections, both wired and wireless. The plan was to use Airplay on my Macbook connected wirelessly to the router. For some reason the AE didn't connect to the router very well. The AE indicator would be green for a short time after boot, turning into amber. The same thing happened with the connection indicator on the router. The router would assign an IP and then drop it immediatley, but the AE would still sometimes show up in iTunes, but I was most of the time unable to connect and use Airplay. At best I was able to use Airplay with an incridble lag.
After some trial and error I gave it up and connected the AE to the router wirelessly. Now everything works without problems, I would still prefer ethernet between the router and AE though, but turning dhcp off is not an option. Everything is updated, I tried to grab the logs from the AE, but after resetting so many times I think most of them are deleted. I also believe the AE works well connected to my Macbook using ethernet. Why does it have a problem with the router?

You have to have your Mac with Airport Admin Untility connected to the Express by being on its network. That's why connecting with a wire gets you back in command too. Once you're on its network, whether wi-fi or wired, you're in control.

Installed updated Flash Player but still doesn't work

I have Windows Vista 32 bit. I was promtped to update my adobe flash player so I did. I installed the updated version of adobe flash player for internet explorer but it still won't work for me. I tried the Troubleshoot Flash Player information on the adobe site but still can't get it to work. Please Help!!!!

I downloaded and installed version 11 of the Flash player, but it doesn't work. Is there a problem?

I downloaded and installed Flash Player 11, but I get the message "You need the latest version of Flash Player to see this file". What did I not do to get this working?

Using Airport Express to send music... but...

Okay, not sure if this is possible but:
I have an Imac G3 snow (without airport card) which is hooked up via ethernet to my router (which is also wirelss). Also hooked into this router is my Powerbook G4 (wirelessly).
I have all my music on the Imac. What I'd REALLY like to do is somehow use the airport express thingie to attach speakers to in the other room and be able to play itunes on it.
I thought that MAYBE there would be a way to hook that up to the router (wirelessly) and then the Imac would be connectly to the router ad presto - all connected.
But not looking that way. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or, perhaps I'm trying something that can't be done?
Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any light anyone can shed on this!

I probably did that (create another network) in the beginning, yup. But have now reached Stage 5 . I think.
I have managed to get it working, playing music from my iTunes into the front room and still connect to the internet. I think that means that I've managed to get it to join the existing network.
But what doesn't work (and may never work?) is playing from the iTunes on the Imac (which doesn't have airport, but is connected to the network via ethernet). Not sure why that isn't working.. Any ideas, anyone? Sorry to be such a clueless one, but i've tried everything.
I can, however, and this is new, play the music that's on the iMac by connecting through iTunes sharing from the powerbook. Whew. But still not ideal!

Is it possible to setup AirPort Express as Wireless Bridge but won't allow wifi access through it?

What I want to do is connect a printer to the AirPort Express through it's ethernet and wirelessly bridge to my main router (AirPort Extreme). But is it possible to turn off the AirPort Express' wifi access? Meaning it's wifi is solely used for bridging to my main router and block off other devices access to it through it's wifi? The only solution I can think of is giving the AirPort Express a different name and password, but is there a better way of doing it?

That is possible, assuming that the AirPort Express will be located where it can receive a strong wireless signal.

Configure the AirPort Express to "join a wireless network".....not "extend a wireless network"..... and it will provide no additional wireless signal coverage.

That won't work, since the AirPort Express must be configured to connect to the AirPort Extreme wireless network using the same name and same password as the main network.

Airport Express in solid green, but no internet.

I have been travelling around with my airport express and i encountered problems in some hotels.
My Airport express lights solid green, i can join my own network with the password that i set. however, my laptop/iphone does not have any form of connectivity at all. my iphone safari will prompt that i have no internet connection available.
Are my setting wrong? All i want is to plug the hotel's ethernet cable into the device to get wireless network.
In places where my Airport Express works fine, i will join my wireless network with my password, then the hotel's webpage will pop up on my Ipohne Safari or on my Laptop's explorer for me to purchase internet.

Probably not. If your Express light is green, it's getting an IP address from the hotel's router and that's pretty much all it (and you) can do.
The unfortunate fact is that many hotels are notorious for woefully unreliable service. Even when they work some are too slow to use anyway. Hotels with reliable and fast service are rare, at least in the U.S.
If it's not working for you the way you've described, it's probably not working for anyone.
Complain to the hotel's management. People have justifiably grown to expect Internet service in hotels, and wireless devices like iPhones and iPads are the future.

My airport express and wireless airplay speaker are connected to WIFI, but airplay and homesharing are not working...what to do? Everything was working fine until about two weeks ago, all of the sudden airplay has disappeared from the iphone, itunes on the laptop, and the apple remote for iphone. I have restarted the router many times, re-setup the airplay speaker and the airport express and booth are showing as being properly connected to the router when I log into the router IP address. I was on the phone with Apple support for 30 minutes they blames verizon, got on the phone with verizon and they stated the settings were all correct and compatible with apple, got back on the phone with apple and they again are blaming verizon and trying to get me to get an airport extreme because that would fix the problem...any suggestions, please!

There are three Airport resets, soft, hard and factory default. It would probably be beneficial if you tried each one in sequence. Actually, you could jump to the factory default reset if you don't mind reconfiguring from scratch.

Can't find Airport Express via wireless or wired connection.

I've run across this topic in this forum and a lot of others and nothing I've found has helped resolve the issue. It seems like the one definitive answer I found was to return it to the store, but I'm hoping to avoid that so I figured I'd try once more.
Running Windows XP and using a linksys Wireless-G network card. When I first got the Airport Express I was able to connect to it but then I had some issues with my cable network connection and had to reset everything. Since then I haven't been able to connect to it, and currently I can't find it using the Base Station. Tried resetting it to factory defaults about 10x and I'm still stuck on blinking yellow. I tried connecting it directly with a network cable and even then my computer can't seem to find it.
I tried turning off my firewall, reinstalling the Airport Utility, connecting to the IP address 10.0.1.1 using the "Configure Other..." box and no luck.
Any suggestions?

The issue is within the network configuration of the Airport Express. As you mentioned, all hardwired devices can use AirPlay but all wireless devices can't.
Normally, the Airport Express will wirelessly join your existing network, and Airplay will work with all devices. Any reason why you have your Airport Express connected to your router via ethernet?
