Airport Express - last track of album freezes

When playing an album in iTunes 7.0.2 the last song freezes with only 2 seconds or less remaining. I try to pause and resume playback without any luck. The only way to complete the playback is to choose "Computer" speakers. This has been a problem with all versions of iTunes 7.

I have been unable to duplicate the problem in the other circumstances you described:
It also happens if you wait for a track to finish then >manually force a different track to play within the first ~4 >seconds of the next track starting.
As far as I can tell, both the 'Last Played' timestamp and the 'Play Count' are only updated when a track reaches it's end and either playback stops (last track in a playlist) or continues on to the next track in the playlist. This prevents a track but being counted if one skips through it, even if it has started playing. This would also explain why hitting the 'Next' [>>] button updates the information correctly whenever playback hangs at the very end (-0:00) of a last track. I haven't experienced hanging any earlier in a track as others in the thread have.

If you have the AirPort Express setup in Bridge Mode, try changing the Connection Sharing setting to "Share a public IP address"

Click the Internet icon
Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address

You will probably get a message about a Double NAT error. Click to "ignore"
This setting might allow mutliple devices to connect and may not. It's worth a try...I have about a 60-70% success rate at hotels with this setting.
Unfortunately, as you note....hotels have become a lot smarter about connections to their network. At some point, they probably will not even allow another router to connect at all.

Last track on album won't count for plays.

Hello! Well I love the new IT 7 and all, and I just got the update to it (7.0.1.8) a week or so ago, and now I've noticed that if I pull up a single album in my library, after it plays through the tracks, the last track stops on 0:00 left and the play count doesn't tick. I know it's a small thing but I'm kind of a play count junkie and little things like this **** me off.

Hello, is it possible to have airplay play one album on my airport express and to listen to another album on the local mac?

If I am using my Airport Express to play an album using Airplay in my bedroom, is there a way I can also play a different album on the Mac that iTunes is located on?

Airport Express No Longer Recognized in Airport Utility

I have an Airport Extreme (version 7.3.2) that I is connected to my cable modem and a pc in my basement. I have an iMac in a separate room on my second floor that accesses the internet wirelessly via the Airport Extreme. I also have an airport express that I used throughout the summer to play airtunes through speakers that I set up in other parts of my home. The airport utility (that is set up on my iMac) always picked up the Airport express and the window in the lower right corner of iTunes allowed me to pick the speakers so that I could play my music on the connected speakers.
All of a sudden - and without any warning - when I tried to connect my airport express last week, all I got was the blinking amber light on it; the airport express is no longer recognized in my airport utility. I have tried to reset the express, but it doesn't work. Furthermore, the option to play airtunes no longer appears in the lower right corner of iTunes. All I have now is a blinking amber light on the Express.
Can anyone suggest ways in which I can correct this problem and resume playing airtunes? I am not the most technically advanced person, so please try to make any suggestions in simple terms! Thanks!

Just an update to yesterday. I managed to get the DVD out of the superdrive by shaking it out while ejecting. I put the old HD back in and still no dice with regards to making it show up in Disk Utility. While opened up, everything seemed to be in order with nothing burnt or smelling burnt. All connections seem to be in place. I guess it's off to the repair shop for the laptop.

Need Help With Download For Airport Express

Ok, computer dummy here needing help with airport express. We were given airport express last night from a friend who recently purchased a newer gadget. He told us we would need to come here to download the operating system. I see lots of links to updates but no links for someone like me who has never had anything like this on my computer before. Does anyone know what link I would need to use? We have a pc with windows XP. Thanks so much for your help!

The AirPort Express Base Station (AX) doesn't have an "operating system" per se, but it does have built-in firmware which pretty much is the same thing. In addition, in order to administer the AX, you will need the AirPort Admin Utility for your Windows PC.

Cannot hear my remote speakers in itunes thru Airport Express?

Anyone have this problem, I set up my Airport Express last week and everything worked correctly. I was able to set up a network, print and listen to music wirelessly. However, over the weekend since installing itunes 8, my remote speakers wont work with the airport express. i keep getting (unknown error -15000} and my speakers seem to make a crackle. Im still able to get to the web, and print on my AE. Ive checked all the problems, everything is plugged in, i reset up the network, used the airport utility, the AE is still in the same place , it has not been moved. At bottom of itunes, it says it will play music thru AE and not computer. Please help If I cant play my itunes wirelessly, my new macbook is almost useless.

i'm having the same problem, there used to be an icon in the lower right hand corner to connect to my airport express and it doesn't exist anymore, i tried shutting down, unplugging and plugging the airport express back in, but i still have no option to send music to it. any luck with yours?

How to share internet connection over wifi to an ethernet decive using airport express?

Hi i have a device that it can only be connected to the internet via ethernet in a diferent room (and far) where my primary internet connection is. I have my network configured like this: cable modem >>> connected via ethernet >>> to airport time capsule >>> connectes via wi fi >>> to airport express last generation "n" >>> connected via ethernet cable to device. The problem is that i'm not having internet conection in my ethernet connected device. Anyone know if I have to configure something in some special way or if i'm doing something wrong?

It should work fine..
To figure this out, check if the Express is connected by wireless properly and getting an IP.. you will see that in airport utility.
Make sure you are set to either extend or join the wireless network. The Express should then pass an IP to the "device".
No luck start over.. reset everything to factory.
If the TC is older model use 7.6.1 firmware.. it works much better for extend wireless.
Use short names.. 2-20 characters no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Then set the Express again in extend wireless mode.
It is pretty easy in v6 airport utility. Look at the posts from Bob Timmons on how to extend wireless.. he must have answered those question a thousand times in the last few years.

Airport Express 802.11n Xbox Live

I just purchased an Airport Express last night from my local Apple Store and mainly got this because it says its a router. When I hooked it up everything was fine, i could print wirelessly, and listen to Air Tunes, but when the ethernet in my xbox was connected to the airport it said there wasnt even a connection between wired, or wirelessly.. So can someone please tell me how to fix this, I just want to use the Airport Express as a wireless router for my xbox 360.

The Airport Express only has a single ethernet port which you connect to your internet connection. It will only work with wireless devices when working as a router.
Assuming you have configured it as a client to an existing wireless network, the ethernet port is inactive in this mode.
To use it in the way you want your wireless router needs to be another Airport base station. What wireless router do you have?

Macbook can't recognize Airport Express!

Hi guys,
I have a Macbook Pro Retina 15" Early 2013 running Mavericks 10.9.1. My router is the Apple Airport Express A1088 and what is happening is: I did the setup of the Airport Express last year and everything was working fine. I had to download the Airport Utility 5.6 and then I configured the Airport Express. Alright. But today, my wifi connection was not showing in my Macbook Pro, but it was working fine in my iPhone 5. I tried to turn the Airport Express off, and the same for my Macbook Airport, but it doesn't work. So I decided to do a hard reset and also a reset to factory settings. What is happening is my Macbook Pro showed only one time after doing the reset and I did all the steps of the setup using the Airport Utility 5.6. But when the airport express restarted, it was working only with my iPhone 5, not with my Macbook. So I tried to reset again to factory settings and now I can't do the setup because the Airport Express doesn't show up in my Macbook as a new base station or anything else. With my iPhone 5 I can see the Airport Express as a new base station, however I am not able to setup it because it is a old version (A1088).
I don't know why my Macbook Pro is not showing up the Airport Express. I have already tried to make it work with Windows (via virtual machine) and using Airport Utility 5.6. I also know that THIS IS NOT A HARDWARE PROBLEM! Any other network I am able to join with my Macbook.
I also looked in this forum about other users that had the same problem, but almost all of them started working after a hard reset or reset to factory settings, which is not working for me.
I just wish my Macbook to recognize the Airport Express, until yesterday everything was working fine. And today it is only working with my iPhone, but I am not able to set up it with the iPhone.

Did you already tried
- to delete your Wifi from the list of known Wifi's from your MacBook/System Prefs/Network/AirPort/Option/
- or maybe delete and reinstall the AirPort Service from your MacBook/System Prefs/Network

Airport Express: determine the best wireless network

Hello all!
An Airport Express (last years model) can connect to one of 3 Accesspoints which would all be fine for my needs (lets say WiFi network wifi1, wifi2 and wifi3). Unfortunatly, I could not see a way to tell which one deliveres the best connectivity to the Airport Express. I just have the chance to define literally to which one of the WiFis the Express should connect (so either wifi1, 2 or 3)
Does anybody know whether there is a chance to see which WiFi delivers the best quality/strength to the AirPort Express?
For some other reason, I decided not to establish a roaming between those accesspoints. For now, I will not set them up in a way that Airport Express just sees one single WiFi and choose on its own the accesspoint which its connects to.

Well you can't really tell until you actually test it in practice.
A poorman's test would be to use an iOS deivice, and just go to the position you want to set up your router, and check the signal strength of the three access points from that location. But this is a poor test because signal strength doesnt' always mean better quality.

Activate AirPort Express via D-Link DI-634M WiFi router to iMac Leopard

I installed an AirPort Express last year via Windows and a "g" WiFi router. Worked, but sporadically. Upgraded to MiMo router (using WPA-PSK) for better range and security, but AirPort Express stopped working.
This month, converted from Windows to iMac (OS-X 10.0) and trying to get AirPort Express working, but Setup Guide is useless, and my system doesn't "see" the AirPort.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Yes. You can directly connect an 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) using an Ethernet cable. The AXn would then just need to be configured as a bridge to allow the D-Link to continue to provide both NAT & DHCP services for all network clients connected to either router.
In this configuration, the AXn would broadcast a wireless network for your wireless network clients to connect to.

Is it possible to get regular computer audio via AirPort Express?

Is it possible to get regular computer audio (audio from websites, MacBook, etc.) on my speakers which are connected to my AirPort Express? Or is the only audio I can hear on my connected speakers the music that is on my iTunes?
Just obtained AirPort Express last night and was dissapointed that only the music on my iTunes plays on my connected speakers and not the normal/regular audio from websites and/or my MacBook.

Airport Express affected my cordless telephone?

Since I set-up my Airport Express last week, so I can use my new iPad, I keep losing my internet connection on my desktop (iMac G5) when we are using our cordless telephone.
Has anyone encountered THIS problem?
Can AppleCare help me, or should I call my phone company(AT&T) ?

it's called _*wireless interference*_.
best you can do is to change the channel(s) your wireless router is broadcasting on.

Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
