Airport Express not working properly since 4.2 update

I use AE for Airtunes and it worked great until the 4.2 update several months ago. Since then it the light has remained solid amber unless I unplug it and then plug it back in. After doing this, it will remain green and connected while it is being used by iTunes, and then go back to solid amber a short time later. There are also times that the light goes out completely, and I have to unplug it. I have tried a hard reset (many times) and I have tried uploading the default software.
I would like to revert to the previous firmware if possible, or if there are other fixes to this I would like to hear them. As far as I know, this has happened to a very few people and no one knows the exact cause.

I had just updated my previously beautifully functional AE with the version 6.2 firmware update and simultaneously updated my iTunes to 4.6. Although both the firmware and software installations were successful, the new connectivity is horrible.
More info: my AE is used exclusively for AirTunes and worked well with both PC and Mac versions of iTunes up to 4.6 (OS X 10.3.9). Both Mac and PC have ample amount of memory, disk space, and compatible wifi cards and have performed well with the AE in the past.
The music will stream for a while, then stop, then stream again. I don't even get the "Rebuffering Stream" message, it just stops. Sometimes when it stops it stalls my iTunes, only when it "wakes up" I can play another song but it has to reconnect to the AE - sometimes successfully sometimes not.
I thought it may be traffic related, but this problem happens when there is absolutely no other traffic on the network - I tested that out. This also happens with all other programs closed and no other "stresses" exist on the source maching streaming the tune-age. This is repeatable on both PC and Mac machines.
I used the link above to revert to the previous version of my firmware and the same problem exists (wierd). Admittedly I hadn't done a firmware EVER before this and have had the previously functional AE for about a year.
Are there any known connectivity issues for the AE? I couldn't find anything like this in my search.
Also, I'm successfully configured as a wireless client to play AirTunes (not a repeater) with 40 bit WEP password set up (authentication is fine).
Any ideas?

    Airport Express can't be found on my Powerbook G4. I'm right next to it so that's not the issue. Another pc in the house is connected and can pick it up no problems.
    I have tried resetting it to no avail. Tried the admin utility but can't do anything as can't find anything to do something with...(same with setup assistant) - I just returned from a week away and this is really frustrating.
    If anyone can offer some prectical insights they would move magically to the top of my friends list.

    Managed to find an answer for others in the same situation. It seems to be something to do with another wireless network nearby using the same channel.
    I solved it by logging onto the admin utility with the PC that could access the network and manually change the channel.
    Works fine now.

  • My BBZ10 is not working properly since my last update (OS 10.3.1.224​3

    OK so to start on a positive - I have been the biggest advocate of Blackberry over the last 3 years and have found it a really easy phone to just pick up and use without having to spend much time with user manuals. I started on a Torch and am now using the BB Z10. I found the switch nice and easy & have loved both phones. Up until now, bar the odd little niggle, I have loved using Blackberry.
    I had a notification to update to OS 10.3.1.2243 (no matter how often I read my notification, it would keep changing to unread and start flashing again) which was a nuisance, but I needed to sort through my notifications first and delete FB as the last update I did, restored ALL my FB notifictions since I'd had the phone, so definitely needed to avoid that scenario.
    I could see there had been some changes - layout different, easier to delete messages etc which is great, HOWEVER, I am really disappointed with how it's messed my phone up which I have never had before. There is now a new line in BBM that wasn't there before which covers the message that I am typing, so I can't actually see what I am typing. Every time I unlock my phone, my screen enlarges so I can't really see much on the hub/notification screen and it defaults to the hub which it didn't do before), my ringtone is much softer than it was previously and BBM no longer has a ringtone. Whatsapp, (the current winner of sending messages as I can actually see what I'm typing) actually has a tone but it's really soft, so not only can I not see what I am typing, but I can't hear when I get a message either, even if it's a person who has a specific ringtone for BBM
    My notifications keep freezing (can be when I am on looking at email notifications, Facebook etc) and some of my keys keep freezing when I am trying to type (p is the worst) and is generally making using my BB highly irritating. In fact there are times that I am so irritated that I want to throw my phone on the floor and jump on it. There is nothing wrong with the phone as it worked perfectly prior to the update, so this must be bugs in the new OS which is not good at all as these problems should have been ironed out prior to release.
    Does anyone know me how to fix this or can tell me when the next update is out to fix the bugs? It's all good and well adding all these great features, but if they mess up the basics, none of that is important and if I was nearing the end of my contract, I would definitely not be going Blackberry which is a shame as I've never had an update problem before with BB.

    you can turn off the magnifying glass :
    device settings >> accessibility >> magnify mode >> OFF
    you can deactivate the "reset to Hub view" :
    hub >> overflow (bottom right button) >> Settings >> Display and actions >> Return to Default View When Idle >> OFF

  • HUB not working properly since 10.1 update

    Ever since the 10.1 update I am not getting text message notifications in the HUB.  The only way for me to know if I have received a new text message is to go to the conversation and look.  This is very annoying because I am missing text messages from people that I either do not have an open conversation with or haven't had text communication with recently.  Also, certain HUB notification will not delete and I cannot mark them as read.  
    I have tried restoring the phone to factory default, pulling the battery etc. nothing works.  The only thing that sometimes works is to reset the HUB by swiping down from the top right corner five times, but this still does not work all the time. Also, refreshing the HUB does nothing.
    Please address this soon as I cannot continue to use a Blackberry that doesn't work. I will most definitely be switching back to IOS or andriod is this isn't resolved soon.

    Text messages are turned on in the NUB, i'm not a newb when it comes to technology lol.
    As I said, the problem is intermittent.  If I perform a reset of the HUB it sometimes works to get the notifications but most times it does not.  I have to go into the individual text conversations to check if I have a new message fromt he person.  When I compose a new text message with a recipient that doesn't have an open conversation when new text message does not even show up in the list of text messages. I have to perform a reset of the HUB several times to get it to show up.

    Since downloading the software update (21/01/2012) - the crossfader that I have set to maximum (12 sec) is not working correctly. It seems to play the next track about 40-50 seconds before the last one has finished !!
    I have reset the crossfader to less seconds but it doesn't fade - it just plays the next track over the last but doesn't actually fade !!
    Anyone else having this problem ? If so have you fixed the problem and how ????

    Boot from your install disc and follow the instructions here to check the startup disk for errors. See, *Try Disk Utility*

    Then repair permissions. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done.     Hi and thanks in advance for your advice. I have searched the forums but didn't see my problem listed. I upgraded her ibook recently. B4 the upgrade, no problem connecting wirelessly to the DSL gateway. My office is in the basement under the steel I-beam, so the ibook was hooked up via ethernetduring and post upgrade . I was able to send and receive email and get to the web. I returned the ibook to her and she can't send email. Now here is the really weird part, she can receive email but not send it. She uses the ibook for email and documents and surfing the web. One for three isn't good. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

    Incoming packets (reading/receiving email for instance) works because the MTU of the incoming packets is OK.
    MTU problems are identified on sending data (like sending email) because the outgoing packets are too big.
    Checkout macosxhints.com articles like "10.3: MTU fixes for Ethernet and Airport connections".

    I updated my software a couple days ago and ever since, my Safari won't open most websites. It will, for some reason, open my VPN and work email, as well as a couple other sites, but will not open most normal sites (apple, google, facebook, gmail, etc). It will act like it's going to, then the blue loading bar stops at about the third w, and it eventually says "Safari can’t open the page "_" because the server where this page is located isn’t responding."
    I have searched through this message board and tried a lot of things that were suggested for other people with similar problems (emptying cache, resetting safari, adding DPS addresses, disabling extensions, etc), but none of them have worked. It does the same thing when I log in under another user account.
    My mail application also stopped working at the same time.

  • My copy and paste functions are not working properly since iOS 8 update

    Ever since I updated to iOS 8 on my iPhone 4s the copy and paste function isn't working. It'll work the first time but any time I copy something else it pastes the first thing I copy. The only fix I've found is rebooting the phone but that is a pain to do every time I want to copy something and should be very unnecessary. I updated to 8.0.2 but that didn't fix it.

  • Bluetooth devices are not working properly since ios 7 update...

    Since I updated to ios 7, my Bluetooth devices are only partially compatible with my iphone.  The devices will allow me to use the phone and all audio/video playback.  However, I have lost the ability to do simpe tasks such as forward/reverse tracks with my devices.  This loss of functionality is consistent across both Bluetooth Speakers (Monster Clarity HD) and in my vehicle (Lincoln MKX.)
    Any suggestions?

    This problem can be both hardware or software related. To elimnate the option of it being hardware related, I would make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and have them check it out. They will be able to rule out the hardware issue. There are a couple of ways to try and fix hardware issues: 1) hard reset or 2) device restore. I've have linked articles with instructions to both for your reference.

    My old airport express stopped working properly since I loaded Mountain Lion.  I purchased a new Airport Express and it will work, but the audio fades in and out.  I am connected from the airport express unit to my audio receiver via a 3.5 out into RCA (red/white) connector into the receiver.  Can someone suggest a cure?

    System Preferences does not show any of my printers.

    When I click on the update button, it takes me to the App Store, but no Air Port Software — What gives?
    Now having the same problems with Mountain Lion.
    Hoped ML would fix the problem, but NO.
    I find I have to save documents to a flash drive and go to my old PowerMac G4 to print.

    Since updating iTunes today, Airport Express not working. More specifically, the Airport software will recognise the device exists, but iTunes cannot connect to it, just getting error message.

    Removing the SIM has no affect on the power of the phone. It is just the part that facilitates connecting to your carrier. Try holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo on the screen and then release the buttons. The phone should reboot. You may need to hold the buttons together for 15-30 seconds.

    Try a Restart. 
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

    You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
