AirPort Express Restart, Green Light, No Connection

Hi,
Basically every time I change the settings of the AirPort Express to join the wireless network (and the MAC address is already registered on the campus network), the AirPort Express' setting changes are applied and all of a sudden the AirPort Utility can't find it, so I can't even use my AirPort Express lol.
The problem is that I can't get the AirPort Express to restart. The AirPort Express works perfectly well streaming music when it is broadcasting its own network (something like Base Station 6ee19f) 1eecf....).
But, I want the AirPort Express to join my existing wireless network... I enter in all the information - which I have checked again and again to make sure is correct. I do that, and every time I restart, it says that
"AirPort Utility was unable to find your base station after restarting. The settings for this base station have been successfully updated, but there was a problem re-joining the wireless network or finding the base station. You may need to select your network from the AirPort menu and try again."
Any help would be appreciated
The strangest part is that the light on the AirPort Express is now green. It, however, does not show up in the AirPort Utility, and I can't connect to it via iTunes (AirTunes) so I can't use it at all. This only happens after I configure the AirPort Express to use the existing wireless network...

I recognize the situation and I'm experiencing similar issues here myself in my home-network. I've got some information to add to this that might help find a solution.
I would like to be able to use my airport express to stream music, just like the topicstarter. So I've configured it to connect to my existing network, a WPA secured network created by my Speedtouch modem (witch does NAT, DHCP and DNS as well).
Everything goes fairly well when setting the Express up and rebooting it, it connects to my wireless network and the light turns green. I'm even able to look it up in the Airport Configuration Tool.
But then things go weird: it "disappears" from the configuration tool and my Speedtouch doesn't see it as "active" anymore as well. But, just like in the topicstarters situation the light stays green and I've noticed that I'm able to ping it as well! Funny though: iTunes DOES see the express' external speakers.
Also, even in the beginning when I am able to connect to it trough the configuration tool, I'm already not able to connect to it trough iTunes, it keeps saying "connecting to...".
After unplugging It an plugging it back in, everything repeats itself: the airport is reachable again, but disappears after a while. I've tried about anything I can think of but I'm unable to get things to work.

  • Airport Express shows green light but NO Internet

I am using a Macbook Pro and an Airport Express for my Wi-Fi.
I have recently changed my Internet Service Provider. The new ISP provided me with the following information:
    1.IP address: 172.100.11.17
    2. Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    3. Default Gateway:172.100.11.1
    4. Preferred DNS: 172.16.0.1
    5. Alternate DNS: 8.8.8.8
My ISP told me to enter this information manually unlike my previous ISP who used DHCP.
I entered this information by going to system preferences >> Network >> Advanced  >> TCP/IP >> Configure IPv4: Using Manually. I also entered the preferred and alternate DNS information under DNS servers in DNS tab.
I applied these settings and the airport express shows solid green light but gives NO access to internet.
I have also tried connecting the Ethernet cable directly to the computer, which also shows connected but gives NO access to Internet.
I borrowed another router from my friend (not apple) and entered the same settings given by my new ISP and boom !!! I got connected to the internet  only through wirelessly BUT no connection again using the ethernet.
So I am facing the following problem in Mac OS X (10.7.5)
    using
    Airport Express: NO internet
    Ethernet: NO internet
Other Router(non-apple): Internet works using Wi-fi
    Ethernet: NO internet
I do not know if something is blocking the connection or what is happening. I have created new locations (under network) and deleted the old existing one's but nothing seems to help. I also did a hard reset of my Airport Express but nothing seems to help.
    Please help me !!!

I must be doing something wrong with entering settings in Airport Express. The ISP technician is as clueless as me and had even did some changes under Wi-Fi in the network section on my macbook pro. I dont know if it is causing these problems. I have a few questions, please help.
Q1. While entering the ISP provided details using Airport Utility, which of these should I choose: A. Static B. DHCP C. PPPoE ?
Q2. Should my MAC address in the Airport Utility be set to configure manually or automatically ?
Q3. What should be my Wi-Fi settings in my computer ?. I mean in system preferences under network, should my TCP/IP set as DHCP or manually ? Under hardware tab, there is an option to select MAC address as either Automatically or Manually. What should it be ?

  • Airport Express with Green Light but won't connect to iTunes or Airtunes!

    Hi,
I've had my Airport Express for a while and have just set it up in my new house with an Orange Broadband wireless router.
I originally got it set up to play music from my Macbook to my Hifi (that's all I use it for) and it worked fine.
I have now been on holiday for 2 weeks and switched it off.
Now when I turn it on the green light is on however the Airtunes option doesn't appear in iTunes and the Airport doesn't show up anywhere on the computer.
I have reset and set it up again and it still doesn't work.
My wireless internet is working fine and the Airport light is constant green as normal however I can't use it for the reason I need.
I normally have issues with it but nothing I try seems to work for this.
    HELP!
    Thanks in advance

  • Airport Express has green light but won't connect to remote speakers from Macbook or iPhone

    Hi,
I have a 6-7 year old airport express that I have used frequently as remote speakers for my macbook and 2 iphones. I am currently having problems with getting this to work in my new flat. It worked for a few weeks and now he green light is on but the remote speakers time out when i try to connect to it.
Sometimes the airport is visible in itunes/iphone and sometimes it isn't. when it isn't if i unplug it and leave it a while it appears again but i cant connect but the green light is always on.
It's all set up properly so I don't know if it is just getting old and I need a new one or whether this can be solved.
I have reset this numerous times
    Thanks in advance!

  • Airport Express has green light but can't be seen in airport express

I had something odd happen with my wifi network today. I have reset everything and gotten all my Airport Expresses (AE) working again except one.  This AE can not be seen in the Airport Utility (AU) no matter what I do.  I have brought it into the same room as the transmitter and it would still not be seen.  So I connected it to an ethernet cable and when I did the light turned green but still nothing in the AU.  Each time I have changed configurations I have attempted to let the AE attempt to start on its own, I have performed a soft, hard reset and then a factory reset.
This is an older device (b/g not n as I recall) - what am I missing? It is difficult to determine if the device actually resets but the light blinking seems to match with descriptions of the process on the web.  This all worked yesterday and this morning until my network went haywire (only the 2.4 GHz signal went out, I changed channels and reset and it has stayed up since). All the othe Airport devices could be reconnected by a hard reset after which they appeared in the AU and I could then reconfigure.  This one AE just will not cooperate.
    Any thoughts will be appreciated.

The model number is A1084 and I am using version 7.6.1 of AU.
When I attempted the hard reset the list starts off amber then after 5-10 seconds the amber light flashes rapidly and that is when I remove the paper clip I am using to push the button.  Afterwards it goes solid amber for a bit then flashes amber.  If the devices is not plugged into the ethernet it stays flashing amber, it it is connected to the ethernet it goes steady green
When I attempted the factory reset it is solid yellow for quite awhile then I get a rapid flashing green light at which time I remove the paper clip. It then goes back to amber for awhile then flashes amber.  If the devices is not plugged into the ethernet it stays flashing amber, it it is connected to the ethernet it goes steady green.
In neither case does it appear in AU.  Also FYI I am running Mountain Lion although everything has worked fine until yesterday.
    Thanks for the reply

  • My Airport Express is green, but my computer does not find it on a scan.  I have used it before, but it just stopped working.

My Airport Express is green, but on a scan, my computer does not find it.  I normally use it to play music from my Itunes to my house stereo speakers, and the icon shows up in itunes.  it stopped working and now my computer does not recognize it.  Help!!!  I hate listening to music on small speakers.

    Hello there Karen,
It sounds like you are having to power cycle your modem to get internet back every single day. We can start by troubleshooting your Airport Express to help isolate the issue. I would first perform a Soft Reset, then test the issue again. If needed as a last resort I would then perform a Hard Reset:
    Soft reset
Connect the device to power and wait for it to complete its start up process. To learn more about the start up process, please see All about Wi-Fi base station Status Lights (LED).
Press and hold the reset button with a pen, pencil, or straightened paperclip for 1 full second, then release it. The light (LED) will begin flashing amber, indicating that the device is in soft reset mode.
From the AirPort menu bar item, choose the network created by the device (the network name does not change).
Open AirPort Utility from Applications > Utilities.
Select the base station, then click Edit (The Edit window will indicate that the base station is in Soft Reset mode).
Move through the tabs to make changes to your passwords or other settings as needed, and click Update and Continue as required
    Quit AirPort Utility.
    Hard reset
Press and hold the reset button with a pen, pencil, or straightened paperclip until you see the status light (LED) start to flash amber rapidly, which should occur after about five seconds.
Release the button and the device will reset.
Wait about a minute for the base station to finish restarting, then open AirPort Utility from Applications > Utilities.
Select the base station from Other Wi-Fi Devices, then click Edit.
    Select the Other Options button.
Select "Restore previous settings" and click Next until you get to the final window.
AirPort Utility will indicate that Setup is complete. Click Done.
    Quit AirPort Utility.

  • Airport Express 802.11n - Freezing Whilst Connected

I have just set up my new Airport Express - I have a Netgear DG834 router plugged into it via a new ethernet cable and another ethernet cable from the router into my G5 iMac.
I bought the AE so that I can use a Samsung NC10 netbook (using WIndows XP) wirelessly.
The NC10 shows excellent signal strength and never appears to actually drop the connection (and the the solid green LED remains lit on the AE), but the "cannot display the webpage" page constantly opens. The wired connection to the iMac is perfectly stable.
The only way to display the site you want is to manually disconnect and reconnect each time.
It's extremely annoying as the connection is actually far more reliable when using the house next door's unsecured wifi, and is faultless when connecting via a BT Home Hub wireless router elsewhere.
Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem might be?

I have now got the same issue as the last poster. On sync'ing my Apple TV via Airport Express the AE light goes amber and the whole thing locks up. Only a reset will sort it. At present I am unable to sync the Apple TV at all, as soon as it starts it locks up!
I have tried resetting, downgrading (7.4.1 etc) all to no avail!
I had it connected to a DG834GT router and tried a Thompson one instead but this made no difference.
I have tried both DHCP and fixed IP addresses, again without success.
The logs seem to reset on resetting the router so I cannot see what is causing the issue.
Anyone out there had this issue and resolved it.

  • Airport express 802.11b doesn't connect to Linksys E3000

airport express 802.11b doesn't connect to Linksys E3000
Linksys told tha de the device does not support WPA security
    BUT
the device has capability to WPA and it was working on Linksys WRT 310n v2
    is out there an solution?

If you have tried numerous default resets, then the Express is defective. Normally, it displays a solid amber light...or no light.... when an internal component fails, but I've seen the solid green as well.
If it's in warranty, Apple will replace the device.
If it's not....and you want to try a real longshot....carefully saw open the case along the center seam to open up the device.  You might get really lucky and find something obvious like a connector that has come loose, or something similar.

  • Can't find Airport Express via wireless or wired connection.

I've run across this topic in this forum and a lot of others and nothing I've found has helped resolve the issue. It seems like the one definitive answer I found was to return it to the store, but I'm hoping to avoid that so I figured I'd try once more.
Running Windows XP and using a linksys Wireless-G network card. When I first got the Airport Express I was able to connect to it but then I had some issues with my cable network connection and had to reset everything. Since then I haven't been able to connect to it, and currently I can't find it using the Base Station. Tried resetting it to factory defaults about 10x and I'm still stuck on blinking yellow. I tried connecting it directly with a network cable and even then my computer can't seem to find it.
I tried turning off my firewall, reinstalling the Airport Utility, connecting to the IP address 10.0.1.1 using the "Configure Other..." box and no luck.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks much.

The issue is within the network configuration of the Airport Express. As you mentioned, all hardwired devices can use AirPlay but all wireless devices can't.
Normally, the Airport Express will wirelessly join your existing network, and Airplay will work with all devices. Any reason why you have your Airport Express connected to your router via ethernet?

  • Airport express second generation do not connect to the internet

Airport express second generation do not connect to the internet. I changed my location and the problem happened . Earlier it was running smoothly. I am not finding the cause of the problem. I switched on and off several times but the problem persists. Please help me.

Are you asking the make/model of the computer or the AX base station?
Neither, I was interested in the make/model of the cable modem.
Our ethernet connection was fried in an electrical storm so we had to go wireless.
Electrical storms are never a good thing when it comes to electronics. What was/is your current network configuration? Is it something like the following?
Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > AX > (wireless) > wireless devices
Is there another router, other than the AX, in the configuration? ... or an Ethernet switch? I'm just trying to understand your network to best advise you on how to configure the AX.
