AirPort Express Setup does not recognize Linksys Router

I have recently installed a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and an AirPort express card hooked up to my stereo for AirTunes. When I run the AirPort Setup Assistant, it gives me a "This computer has no wirless interface enabled or Windows is not able to manage wireless networks on this computer" error. I ran the WRT5G setup software successfully and am able to get a wireless signal from a labtop.
How can I get the AirPort Setup Assistant to recognize my wireless network/router?

I don't know what instruction booklet came with your Express but this is the relevant excerpt from its setup guide:
There is no mention of "disk" or "HD" anywhere in the document, so I am at a loss to know where you found the information.

My computer does not recognize my router

I have a WRT54GS wireless router and the first time I installed it, at some point of the instalation y choose something like install a new router, and since then I cant install it, the power led is always blinking and my computer appears to not recognize the router, I looked for help in the linksys webpage but there is a point where I can't keep going because I need to acces the set up page, but since my router is not recognized I cant access the page.

You need to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
5) Power down the router.
6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.

Older Airport Express (airtunes G band) with Linksys router (G) & iMac (N)

I'd like to use an Airport Express to run audio from my iMac to my stereo. I can get an older model APX at a good price. It's model M9470LL/A, it runs on the G band. My router is a Linksys that runs on the G band, and my iMac runs on the N band. Will this older APX do the job? Does the APX talk to the router, or to the iMac?

Unfortunately, most non-AirPort routers are not compatible with Apple's implementation of Wireless Distribution System (WDS)...so it very unlikely that your non-AirPort router can be extended wirelessly with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX).
The few that are known to work are:

Can I use AirPort Express as booster/extender to LinkSys router signal?

I have LinkSys N router (which I got free, else would've bought AirPort), its signal isn't strong enough in office room. Can I use AirPort Express as a booster/extender? Some sources say Express can only talk to another Express, others say it can communicate with the LinkSys. Which is it? I don't want to spend the money for two Expresses unless I have no choice (very limited budget nowadays).
I've been hassling with this for over a month, and I'm extremely frustrated.

Most likely no. That is because most non-Apple router's implementation of WDS is not compatible ... and this is true the other way around. It is true that some early Linksys models, mainly the WRT-54 series were compatible, but I have not seen anything since then that is.

Latest iTunes Setup Does Not Recognize Outlook 2010

I recently had to put in a new HDD in my Dell Laptop (WinXP Pro) and just finished installing iTunes v10.1.1.4 but in trying to setup a sync with my iPhone 3GS (which has all my music, contacts, calendars etc.), iTunes does not seem to find my new installation of MS Office Pro 2010...more specifically, Outlook 2010.
Is there something I'm missing in terms of getting iTunes to recognize that I have Outlook 2010 installed so I can sync my iPhone to my laptop?

I am using the 32-bit version of Outlook 2010 on my Win7 64-bit system. I had no problems with MobileMe and I thought (that is what I get for thinking) the migration would be somewhat painless. Not the case. I see the adin for iCloud in Outlook and it is enabled, however, iCloud does not see Outlook 2010. Trying to follow HELP at Apple, is like a dog chasing it's tail. Round and round with no answers.

New Intel WIFI Wireless Network Adapter does not recognize Wireless Router

I have had a Linksys BEFW11S4 Version 4 Wireless router for quite some time. It works like a champ and I have one Laptop wired to it and a second using Wireless working just fine. Recently, I received a new ThinkPad W500 Laptop with an Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN wireless network adapter. The older laptop that works just fine with the router uses a
11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter by Atheros. However, the NEW laptop with the Intel Adapter fails to connect to the Router. It will either indicate a failure while "Waiting for Association" or it will indicate a failure when waiting to "renew IP Address". Sometimes, it will show a signal strength close to ZERO (Even as the older laptop with the other adapter is showing a signal strength close to 100%) When I called Linksys support, I was told that the facts that the Router (a) works find with the wired Laptop and (b) works fine with the 11a/b/g NEtwork Adapter and (c) works fine when WIRED to the new laptop all indicate that the problem is NOT with the router at all -- but with the Network Adapter. Can anyone tell me what has to be adjusted in the Adapter settings? Right now, I am using IBM Access Connections for BOTH of the wireless laptops. I have made sure to set IDENTICAL values for SSID and WEP (128-bit) [static] password. I have also ensured that all OTHER settings are the same for the two laptops. Yet, in one laptop, there is NO PROBLEM while in the other, I can not get the Wireless Adapter to "see" the signal from the Router. TO further check this, I have [temporarily] disabled the WEP password, enabled SSID broadcast, and disabled the MAC address restrictions that I put in (so that the system would be totally "open") yet the Intel Adapter STILL did not "find" anything. In addition, when I use the "Find WIFI" feature in Access Connections, I find that SOMETIMES the network with SSID is found and sometimes, it will display "unknown network" and not pick up the SSID.
This is all very frustrating. If anyone has experience with the Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN Adapter, I would appreciate any hints, tricks, ideas, etc.

I installed the LATEST version of IBM Access Connections as well as verifying that I have teh LATEST drivers for the Intel Wireless NEtwork Adapter.
What now happens is that I am able to authenticate to the Router. However, I get a failure on "renewing IP Address" -- which [according to the diagnostic message] means that the Rotuer fails to provide me with an IP address to use. Do you have any suggestions?

Iimac uses airport extreme. For no known reason stopped connection to Internet. Reset. Still no connection with saying cannot connect because it timed out. When I connect extreme directly to the iMac I can get Internet. If I disconnect Internet does not work

Airport Express (n) does not reconnect USB drives after reset

I've looked high and low for an answer to this but haven't found anything. I have a USB drive connected to my Airport Express (n). My router "recovers" itself fairly often, probably because of an unreliable DSL link. Once the router has recovered from the dropped outside connection, the attached USB drive no longer appears as shared. I have to go unplug the drive, then plug it in again to make it active. Is this really the expected behaviour? If a drive (or printer?) is attached when the router resets, shouldn't it find and mount the attached device again? Is there setting to control this behaviour?

The AirPort Express base station is only 802.11b/g.
The square AirPort Extreme base station is 802.11b/g/n.

Cannot find file anywhere.

Setup does not recognize my audig

hello. . But my WinXP has it without problems recognized. what can I do? over WinXP I installed already so far that I can hear sound.

With what name is the card recognised in the Device Manager? What happens when you try to install the CD (drivers)? Do you get an error?
Try running CTZAPP.EXE from the CD first, as that will manually install the drivers. It may also help to move the card to another PCI slot before reinstalling it again, in case it's conflicting with something else in the current slot (some slots share with onboard resources for instance).

Airport express green but not showing up in airport utlitity nor airtunes

I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem for my parents. They have a westell dsl modem wireless access point in their office. To give them better reception in the rest of the house I hooked up an old airport express I had lying around. It works fine and has extended the network perfectly (green light etc.) BUUUTTT why does neither the airport utility nor an ipad, nor itunes "see" the speakers or the even the express ?
What am I missing?
I wouldn't have to have an all apple networking? I seem to remember that i have used the express at hotels and it showed up no problems...

Unfortunately - no luck with that solution. The Kitchen Airport Express also does not show up in the air tunes on my Apple TV.
I have had no problems with getting airport expresses to show up in air tunes before adding this Dlink to my set up - I think it is something to do with the fact that the DLink is plugged into my Airport extreme. (I have tried DHCP off and on).

HT1515 Mavericks does not anymore support former versions of Airport Express Setup tool. Any suggestion ?

Maverick's Airport Express setup tool (>= v6) is no longer supporting old versions of Airport Express device.
I could not notice this limitation before moving to Mavericks, and so far, I have no other alternative than buying a more recent version of Airport Express to be able to reconfigure it to fit in my new home wifi configuration.
Is anyone facing the same issue ?
Such an obsolescence planning is unacceptable from Apple. They shoud solve this mistake through a new release of the Airport Express configuration tool, but at this point I'm not really sure they will do it one day...
Is anyone also frustrated or upset with this ?

There are literally hundreds of posts on this topic that offer a number of solutions. You may want to search the Discussions forum to access them ... and yes, there are a number of frustrated users due to this.
Basically you have the following choices:
Use a Mac running an earlier OS X version that supports v5.6 of the AirPort Utility.
Run a virtual machine on your Mac that is running an earlier OS X version.
Use a Windows-based PC.
Update to a newer base station.
There are also a couple of other solutions / "hacks" that involve Terminal edits or using script files that are not supported by Apple.

Even with MAC addresses entered into Airport Express, my devices keep asking for router password. Basically, MAC filtering on my AirPort Express is not working

I just got a new laptop form work and wanted to add it to my home network. Even though I put in the MAC address, it continue to ask me to put in the router password. Not only that, it started to do that with my other devices within my home network.

With Airport Express setup being relatively quick and easy, I would put the work laptop aside while you reestablish your home network and ensure that your non-work devices operate without having to re-enter Router Passwords. Once that is done, I would turn the work laptop on and see if it discovers the home network. Once you have entered the network password once, look for an option to remember the network. It may be defaulting to your work network on each re-connect.

Airport Express setup not allowing shared net connection when on WDS

I have an Airport Extreme setup as WDS Main and an Airport Express setup as WDS Remote. But Doing this I am unable to receive shared net connection from Extreme to Express using Airport Setup Utility. It will only allow networking and not internet.
Any Ideas?

Internet connection sharing must be set up on the main base station in your network, which would be the base station that is connected to your cable or DSL modem.
Internet connection sharing must not be enabled on any of the remote base stations in your WDS. So... what I'm saying is do not touch the configuration of your Airport Express.
Once you have enabled internet connection sharing on the main base station and the main base station has rebooted, then pull power for a moment to the Airport Express to force a reconnection to the base station.
If you still have problems, please describe to us how your network is set up in detail. If you have a typical network with a cable/DSL modem connection to an Airport Extreme base station, and that base station and an Airport Express are configured to form a WDS, you have an extremely basic setup that the Airport Utility should have had no trouble configuring for you. It really shouldn't be difficult!
Addendum - after thinking about your problem a bit more, I thought I should probably ask you to explain in more detail exactly what the symptoms are when you state that "But Doing this I am unable to receive shared net connection from Extreme to Express using Airport Setup Utility. It will only allow networking and not internet." Perhaps I'm not understanding the problem. Are you saying that none of the computers connected to your network are able to access the internet - but everything else on your network works just fine?
