Airport express: wireless works, but internet does not

Hello.
It happened yesterday for no apparent reason: Internet was not working via airport anymore, as it should have normally.
Config: Cable modem to Airport extreme (.g); USB printer attached to base station, base station Ethernet port going to router with Boradband phone and 1 PC attached to it.
4 MAc computers attached to Network (and getting Internet) via Airport.
Internet connection using DHCP, dynamic IP address provided by RoadRunner (Time Warner).
I tested Cable Modem (works), all ethernet cables (good), reset base station and recreated an airport network.
Airpot network works, USB printer is accessible via Airport, but Internet is still off (although Network Configuration in Sys Pref give me a green light and informs me that I am connected to the internet)
My question: is it possible that Base Station fails only for its Internet/WAN capability, and not for Network functions?

2 MAC computers (iMac700 and MacMini) attached to Network (and getting
Internet), the iMac through router and the MacMini via Airport Express.
Internet connection using DHCP, dynamic IP address

iMac connected to router is getting Internet just fine; MacMini connected to network via AEX is getting network signal but no Internet. Network diagnostics says it can't tell what's wrong and call ISP. ISP says it's an Apple problem.
I tested Cable Modem (works), all ethernet cables
(good), Airport Express network works, but Internet is still off for MacMini.
I've done a power recycling exercise twice, but still no Internet on the MacMini.
Does anyone have any ideas? Both my son and I are stumped. He's a teenager and is fairly computer savvy. Neither of us has been able to figure this out.

WRT54G 1.1 Wireless works, but Ethernet does not

Evening,
This evening, I flashed the firmware on my WRT54G V1.1.
Everything went fine, and it said click continue to continue, which I did.
I tried to reset back to defaults (button on back), which as far as I know took, but I still can not access via wired connections. For the heck of it, I hopped on the laptop. Sure enough, the settings did take, because I could see and connect to the default settings (SSID of linksys, default pass, etc).
I looked in the configuration page, and see that it is not pulling an IP from the cable modem. I reset the modem, reset the router, but still can not connect via wired.
I even set my ethernet to a static IP (192.168.1.55) with a 255.255.255.0 mask, and cant even ping the router (192.168.1.1), however, I can ping it on the laptop connected via the wireless.
It appears all my ethernet ports are dead, but, just from an upgrade?
Anyone have any idea?

Hi… Reduce the MTU on that router and check if you can get the connection on wired PCs. Or else reduce the Card speed (link, speed and duplex) to 10 Mb half duplex. This should give you a connection. For internet IP address, make sure you clone the MAC address of the Wired PC to this router (MAC Address clone sub-tab under setup) and power cycle the network. You can also try resetting the router for 1 min again.

[SOLVED]wlan0 connects to wireless network, but internet does not work

I have a Compaq Presario A900 laptop just installed Arch on it, went through the wireless Wiki and also checked this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65467 (similar issue but I don't use any proxy). It has Broadcom card, 4311 Rev 02. I tried both the b43-firmware and broadcom-wl AUR packages and b43 works with my card.
I have tried with the shell to connect but "iwlist wlan0 scan" always returns no results. (Yes, I did try ifconfig eth0 down first as well before bringing wlan0 up). So I have tried wicd and it worked to connect me to my wireless network which uses WPA, and signal shows ~80% strength, however ping google.ca, nothing works as far as connected to the net.
Any output I should show I will if I have forgotten, thanks very much for your help!

Thanks for your help hokasch, however it was a result of needing to reboot and have proper daemon in rc.conf, and it has been working great last few days Thanks!

Wireless works, but ethernet does not OfficeJet Pro 8600

I just purchased an OfficeJet Pro 8600 and can't get it to work on the ethernet port. The printer states that it is not connected. I know the calbe works because I can print to a different printer when attached to that cable. Any assistance is appreciated.

I am sorry to hear about the issues connecting your Officejet 8600. I understand you have tried many many steps on your own and the printer is still not detecting the ethernet cable.
As you mentioned the unit is right out of the box and still not functioning correctly after all of the steps you have taken, I suggest calling HP's Technical Support to inquire about a replacement unit.

IDM may need to be updated to work with Firefox 4.0. You could contact them and make them aware of the problems you are having with their program.

I have an issue where intermittently iphone 6 and 6 plus is wifi connected but internet does not work. iMessage works though. Toggling the wifi setting clears
the issue temporarily but it occurs again. Running iOS 8.3 now. This was the case on iOS 8.1 and 8.2 as well.
I have tried the typical troubleshooting steps (reboot/reset network settings/disabling location services for wifi/upgrade/etc)
My router is an EA9200 router with 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz. It is configured with all bands with the same name.
All other devices in my house works perfectly fine and has no disconnects (ipad/macbook air/tv's/receivers)
My thought is that iphone 6 cannot handle well the moving around between bands.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to reboot your router by turning off the power (you may have to unplug it from the power source), then waiting about 30 seconds, then turning it back on? This seems to solve a lot of problems.

My airport express is working but my dsl doesn't work...why?

So I just got the airport express yesterday and I hooked it up step by step. But once I hook up the ethernet from my computer to the airport the internet connection on my computer doesn't connect but the light on the airport is green. Then once I disconnect the ethernet from the airport and connect to the computer the internet connects. WHY???

The device that is connected directly to your modem needs to provide the PPPoE service. That means that you must setup the AirPort Express to provide the PPPoE credentials, not your computer.
Networking rules dictate that you cannot have 2 devices providing PPPoE service, so you are going to need to inactivate the PPPoE connection on your computer. Your Express will connect automatically, you will not connect using your computer.
Start over by resetting the AirPort Express back to Factory Default Settings:
Power down the Express for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in as you plug the Express back in to power
Release the reset button after 10 seconds
Connect your modem to the Airport Express with the ethernet cable
Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the icons to name your device and establish a device password and adjust time zone settings
Click the Wireless tab below the icons
Wireless Mode = Create a Wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Your choice
Radio Mode = 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)
Channel= Automatic
Wireless Security = WPA/WPA2 Personal
Wireless Password = Your choice
Click the Internet icon
Connect Using = PPPoE
Account Name = Probably your email address
Password = Your PPPoE password
Service Name = Leave this area completely blank.
Click Update at the lower right and the Express will restart in 20-25 seconds
Since the PPPoE settings are now on the AirPort Express, you must make the PPPoE connection inactive on your computer.

Why are my tags not syncing for a shared email account? IE One person tags an email as "Work" but it does not show on other users Thunderbird.

Subject says it all for the most part.
A shared email account we'll call "[email protected]" is not syncing tags across other end users Thunderbird. User A will tag an email as Work but it will not sync/show on anyone else's application. I've read that Thunderbird stores tags locally now? Is there a way to sync them up to our IMAP server? Or would we have to revert to a previous version of Thunderbird (if so which)?

the issue is probably that the server does not support tags..... Thunderbird stores them locally, but syncs them were the server supports it.

Airport Express ITunes working, but no internet connectivity...

I have two Airport Expresses. Left one at work. The one I left at work was the main one, the other was piggy backing on the first one.
So, without the main one, I held down the button to reset the piggy backing Airport, to reset it as a stand alone. Did that without any problem, plugged it into the speakers and to the internet, and the speakers/ITunes part works, but I can't get to the internet on the Airport.
Plugging the ethernet cable directly into my computer works. But when I plug the cable into the Airport, I can get on that Airport and play music on the speakers/Itunes, but no internet. Sorry, I'm being redundant.
Help says goto Internet Connect to see if Airport has internet connectivity, and that checks out fine. Yet, still can't connect.
Oh, and my Airport light is blinking yellow. Airport Admin Utility doesn't seem to have anything particular to say about that. Hmmmm.
Anyone know what I'm overlooking? Thanks in advance.

Airport Express only works through Ethernet and not wireless

As it states in the header - Airport Express works when I connect it either directly to my iMac or through my Cable modem using an ethernet cable. Unfortunately, as soon as I unplug the ethernet and try to use it wirelessly, it disappears from the AirPort Utility view and I can no longer connect. Strangely the green light stays on solid, no flashing.
I'm no wireless connectivity expert so am sure it's something basic I've missed. Would be most grateful of any pointers.

For the short term ...
Either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then using the AirPort Utility in "Manual Setup" mode, make the following changes:
AirPort > Base Station
o Base Station Name: <rename or leave default>
o Base Station Password: <enter desired password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter desired password>
o Remember this password in my keychain: (optional)
o Set time automatically: (unchecked)
AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
o Network Name: <existing BT HomeHub's wireless network>
o Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
o Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
Music
o Enable AirTunes (checked)
o iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
o iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
o Verify Password: (optional)
o Click Update to write the new settings to the AX
In iTunes:
iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
o Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)
For the longer term, since the BT HomeHub is not WDS-compatible with the AX, the AX would need to be connected directly, via Ethernet, to the BT and then re-configured as a bridge to allow the BT to continue to provide NAT & DHCP services for the entire network.

Weirdness: http works but https does not

I have a very weird problem which no-one has been able to fix.
I have an Airport Extreme card and a third-party DSL modem / wireless router combo. Most internet activities are fine (ftp, email, http) but whenever I try to access a secure site (https) or run a VPN connection (Apani Netlock) one of three things happen:
1. I spontaneously disassociate from my WiFi base station, losing the wireless connection. If I cancel the https request or close down the VPN, the wireless link comes back after 5-10 seconds.
2. I get TCP/IP timeouts - no responses from server.
3. It works, but extremely slowly. Loading a single https web page can take anywhere between 30 seconds to 3 minutes. I'm on a 1.5 Mb/s DSL link.
Things I have tried:
1. Connecting by ethernet directly to the router instead of using 802.11b/g - all the problems go away. So it is not a DSL modem or ISP issue.
2. Changing the MTU of the Airport Extreme card (en1). I have tried values from 600 to 1492. Same problems exist - makes no difference.
3. Tried an Apple Airport base station connected by ethernet to the modem instead of using the modem's wireless. Same problems exist, although the VPN doesn't work at all (even slowly) because the ABS does not support that particular VPN protocol.
I'm at my wits end. No one I have spoken to at tech support at the ISP or modem manufacturer have ever heard of such a problem.

Ok, it's some years later. and the problem has gone away. Things which may have fixed it: OS software upgrades, client software upgrades, better signal strength (this problem did seem more prevalent at low WiFi signal strengths).

Wireless works, direct connect does not

I have a WRT54G wireless router. I woke up this morning to find that my wired connection does not work to my desktop but my wirelesss connection to my laptop does work. I tried rebooting and changing ports- the same. The cableing has not been moved. Any Suggestions?

Sorry- hit enter... If I go to start/settings/ network connections, there is no LAN icon on the desktop, only a network bridge icon. A LAN icon as well as the wireless connection icon is seen on the laptop through that thread. Online chat support with Norton did not help- I will try againin a few days with them. I'm also looking in the chat forums on CNet, some talk about SP3 as the cause, but my log does not show that I have loaded that. BTW, I have XP os, and Norton Internet Security 2008, and my laptop works wired from the same cable that goes to my tower. I will keep looking for answers and post what I find. Let me know if I'm overlooking something. Thanks.

TS3367 facetime used to work but now does not work on any of my devices

I have been in regular contact until about 4 days ago using facetime on my iphone 5 imac 10.7.5. ipad 2 now none of these devices work from incoming calls from Philipinnes. Take note the caller had latest macbook pro 13 inch and is able to call Guam on fatetime with success. What is happening why is incoming calls alway failing. This has been 4 days running and is not good enough. Okay I havent got the latest updates but why in the late few days whould this effect anything. I mean 3 devices and none of them work. This is most frustrating and annoying. I have intead used skype which does work but at night time the camera is not as clear. Tanke note also earlier in the year I received calls from Vietnam and although I did have dropouts was always able to connect only these last four days have had no success. Also I have not been able to call out. The wireless has full bar and am near the modem that is not an issue. Unless there has been a recent change why is htis not working all of a sudden.

THere seems to be a FaceTime issue and some users who have been in contact with Apple support claim that Apple is working on this.
I have read many posts on the issue and have seen that there are many reporting that when they have updated their various devices to the latest software, the issue has been resolved.
You can wait for Apple to resolve the issue OR you can update everything to the latest software and see if this solves your issues.

Printer connected to Airport Express only works on OSX Partition, not Windows 7 Partition

I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro, 13 inch with 2.9ghz processor and 8GB RAM that has a Boot Camp partition on it running Windows 7 Professional. I have had an Airport Express base station that I purchased in 2013, and have a printer connected to it, a HP Laserjet 1102w which is plugged into the Airport. When I am on the OSX partition, the wireless printing works perfectly, however, on the Windows partition, it will not 'find' the printer under a list of available printers. This is annoying as I primarily use Windows and have to restart my computer every time I need to print something. Is there any way to fix this?

You might want to take a look at Printopia to see if it will do what you want. There is a free trial, so you will know for sure before you buy.
The upside with Printopia is that printing from the iPhone will work just as if you had an AirPrint printer.
The downside with Printopia is that you must have a Mac running on the network to be able to print.
Printopia - AirPrint to Any Printer - Print from iPad - Print from iPhone ...
I have no interest in Printopia other than that as a customer.
