Airport express wont hold

Airport express won't hold the change to extend a network. I have restarted many times and still flashes amber.
Please assist. thanks

Try connecting your airport express directly to your computer through ethernet. Plug it in and wait a minute or so for it to boot. The airport utility should discover it. There could be something in your router that is blocking access to the airport express. Connecting it directly to your computer should obviate this. To set it up, select your router's wireless SSID, enter the password for the SSID, then select extend a wireless network. It should reboot and give you a green light. Then you can unplug the ethernet cable and put it whever you like. It does take a minute or so to restablish a green light when you plug it back in.

some times my airport express wont show up in airport utilities on both mine and my wifes macbooks but my i pads and phones keep connection to internet but the books wont. i run ethernet cable to the macbook and sometime it reads the express and some times it wont not quite sure whats wrong.

Airport express wont let me boot!!!

Hello all, today i was trying to remove the harddrive on my g5 , with an unsuccessful attemt to remove it i accidently bent that iron platform that holds the express card, i started my Mac up and nothing it wont boot, so after obvious trouble shooting , I ent to the basics, when I booted the Mac without the airport express it started up fine, I wanted to use the G5 to upload some stuff ,and overall get some work done on it , but it wont go online ,now do you guys have any suggestions why this card that was working perfectly yesterday not all ow me to boot corectly, please any suggestions, please thank you!!!

Airport express wont play through all 5 speakers in my system

I currently have an aiprport express an its completely updated and everything but when i try to stream using airplay from my computer it will cut out on 2 of my 5 speakers. Any ideas?

If you are missing a channel when you plug in the headphones, there is either an internal problem with the jack itself, or some other internal issue on the AirPort Express.
Try a factory default reset if you have not tried that before.
Power down the Express at least 15-20 minutes
Hold in the reset button
Continue holding the reset button while you plug the Express back in to power
Keep holding the reset button until you see the amber light being to blink more quickly and then release the reset button
Try the configuration again. If no luck after a few tries, I'm afraid that the evidence points to a defective AirPort Express that will need to be replaced.
If it's out of warranty and you are handy with tools and electronic repairs, it might be worth a try to carefully saw the case open along the center seam on all sides and then look for a loose or broken internal connection. It's a real long shot.

Airport Express wont setup to two different networks

AirPort Utility was unable to find your AirPort wireless device after restarting. I have tried to setup two different Airport Expresses with two different home networks with the same result. It simply wont restart to join the network. I have setup others with luck but these two and not restarting. This router is Netgear, but the other netwrok was Airport Extreme.

I won't try to help you with that Netgear router, but are both the AirPort Express and the AirPort Extreme 802.11n-capable? Is the AirPort Extreme configured to "Allow this network to be extended"? How did you try to configure the AirPort Express?

2nd Airport Express wont show up in Base Station Chooser, iTunes

Hi, I have 2 Airport Express units on the same network. One is showing up, the other is not. Both were working perfectly. I recently upgraded my router to a Linksys BEFSR41. When I run the Base Station Chooser, one shows up the other does not. The same happens in iTunes. I can address the Airport Express by chooser Other from Base Station Chooser, then entering its IP address. I updated firmware in both units to 6.3. Both units are configured identically. If I access the hidden airport express from a wireless PC it shows up fine but the other one does not

i just bought a new macbook with the new santa rosa motherboard and chipset, etc. with my mac i decided to buy airport express but when i put in the disk it said that it could not install the software on my version on os x. someone help i need my network to be set up

Most likely your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) came with the older version (4.x) of the AirPort Utilities on the provided CD. However, your new MacBook should already have the new AirPort Utility installed in the \Applications\Utilities folder. Just use this version instead to set up your AX.

Airport Express wont reset

Was using airport express to play itunes remotely. It stopped working a week ago and I have tried both regular and hard reset.
But configuring again the admin utility asks me for the password for the base station- which I don't have and then comes up with the following error. Bad param Error (-4).

Have you tried factory reset? Unplug the apx, push the pin in the reset button hole, keep it pushed while plugging the apx back in the socket and wait for a few blinks. Release.

Brand new out of the box and plugged in. Amber light just keeps flashing and is not reconized by my desktop or my laptop. Software was installed on both and I have a Extreme base station. HELP

Try temporarily connecting your computer to the AirPort Express (AX) via Ethernet.
Then configure the AX using the directions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode.

Airport express wont connect anything but my macbook pro

I've searched but cannot find an answer to this question so here goes:
Today I purchased an AirPort Express and was able to configure my MacBook Pro to connect to it problem free. I've created the network using airport utility but none of the other devices in my household can connect to the network: iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, AppleTV, & iPad Mini. They all discover the device but none will connect.

Very simple solution: I was in Bridge Mode and switched it over to DHCP and NAT. Boom....problem solved.

Airport Express wont connect with iTunes Win XP

I have had two airport express devices to stream music from my XP machine through iTunes to two rooms in my house. My wireless network was unsecured so I wanted to secure it and then reconfigure all my devices. When I went to reconfigure the airport devices, I reset them, connected an internet cable to them, went through the Airport Utility routine, entered the right network name and password keys, and got the big green check mark at the end. The light on the Airport turned green, I unplugged the internet cable, it stayed green. Opened iTunes and saw my new device in the itunes window. But when I clicked on it, iTunes couldnt stream any music to it and finally gave up. Opening up airport utility it says it cant find any devices on the network even thought the light is green.
Any help please. I have spent all day trying to figure out what the deal is. I have been a user for multiple years and now cant even configure back to an unsecured network as before. I do run Msft Live One Care but the firewall doesnt seem to matter.

It seems the issue is with the ActionTec PK5000 modem/router. ActionTec confirms an issue with the units ability to stream music/media via wireless. No answer as to when this will be fixed.

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

Airport express wont detect on G5 power PC but will on Macbook. Please help

I seem to have a network problem with my Power PC G5 mac. Left the machine on sleep and went to wake the incumbent to go online. I then discovered the internet wouldnt work and the signal was down. At first I thought this was an ISP issue but macbook connects to the wireless network fine. I then fiddled with the antennal and resetted the machine a couple of times but my network is unavailable along with all the other networks usually discovered by my machine.
I have absoutely no idea why this is occuring so hoping someone could help me out here as I need the net for my work.

well in case anyone is interested, the problem was solved by going into the airport utility, clicking the airport icon selecting the wireless option and changing the defult channel from 12 to 6 then going into wireless options and selecting the robust tick box.

Airport Express wont stop flashing

I have my AE set up to extend my wireless range from my Time capsule.
All works fine except the AE will not stop flashing
i have rebooted everything
i have re-installed everything
i have re-set everything
but still the AE will not stop flashing.
any ideas?

A persistent, flashing amber light indicates that any of the several potential conditions may require your attention:
o The base station has not yet been configured because it is new, or the reset switch has been set.
o You have selected a security configuration that is not recommended.
o One of several other conditions, such as a disconnected Ethernet cable or invalid IP address has been detected.

If you run the AirPort Utility, it will show an amber circle on the summary page next to the area(s) causing the problem. Click on this amber circle and it should provide an explanation.

Connecting Airport Express to Airport Extreme

I had a linksys router with a remote wireless Airport Express and it connected and worked wonderfully. The Linsys router died so I replaced it with an Airport Extreme. Now I can't connect to the Airport Express. It does not show up in the Airport Utility and the Airport Express status light blinks amber. Any suggestions to getting my Airport Express connected and working again?

Your Airport Express was configured to work with the Linksys router and it is remembering those settings, so it's trying to connect to a network that is no longer in existence. It's "lost". That's why AirPort Utility can't find it.
You need to "hard reset" the AirPort Express by holding in the reset button until the amber light begins to blink more quickly.
Then open AirPort Utility and click Continue to reconfigure the AirPort Express with new settings that will be compatible with the AirPort Extreme.
