Airport express works for 1 minute then stops

I came back from vacation. restarted my mac mini + airport express + ...
Internet worked for 1 minute then stopped. I unplugged cable modem + airport. Restarted them. Internet worked for 1 minute the stopped. After it stopped working the light on the airport express stayed green. Computer was still connected with a strong signal.
I plugged the ethernet cable into mac and internet worked fine without issue.
I did a hard reset of airport express and had same issue as above.
Is my airport express shot? Why does it only work for 1 minute or so and then stop?

After waiting a few days, plugged in airport to try one more time and it now works fine. Not sure what the problem was, but it has had no issues since letting it stay unplugged for a few days.

I have used Windows 8 to install a previous version of Utility in order to set up the older airport express as it wont work on mountain lion (thanks Apple)
it's now recognised and I can play music via the iPad, but when i try to do multi room via the PC, it initially didn't work at all, but i read about changing to just WPA2 which i did and that actually gave me multi room, until i tested it and turned it off and on a few times, it then stopped finding it through iTunes and telling me it was in use.
I actually thought I'd fixed it and could answer loads of the other support questions on here, but it looks like i'm in the same position.

you could have a look at the "AirPlay Multiroom Player by WHAALE" iPad app which brings support for Multiroom audio on the iPad directly (without the need for a Mac or PC running).
Currently it supports playing iTunes music on up to 6 speakers simultaneously.
Please try the free App "AirPlay Speaker Tester" first to see if it is working with your current setup.

Airport Express: Works for a while then drops

I have an Airport Express extending my Time Capsule base station. I've moved it out to the garage, and it works pretty decently even though it's pretty far away from the base station.
But in order to get it working, I have to unplug/replug to get it to connect. It lasts fine for the few hours I'm around it. But the next day when I return, it has dropped completely and the yellow light starts flashing. Unplugging/replugging resets it and it connects back up fine.
Any idea what's going on?

It appears likely that the Express is too far away from the TC to receive a reliable signal. See if you can relocate it so that it has a clear line of sight to the TC.

I've even tried only having the iPad mini on the router but that's not even worked. Safari works but the apps are the worst and its what I use most.

I found the solution for this problem (because I faced it too): go to Settings>>General>>Reset>>Reset Internet Settings (the third option in IOS 6).
Five minutes later my iPhone 4S works fine again.
If the issue persists, forget the wifi connection, then sign in again.

Airport express works for a few minutes then orange flashing light

I was given an Airport Express as a Christmas gift to stream music to my stereo whilst in the same room. I configured the AX as per the instructions. A green light showed and streaming worked fine for a couple of minutes before cutting out and the light flashing orange.
I reset the AX and tried reconfiguring but I had the same problem. I also tried configuring via ethernet but the same problem occurred again. I don't think it's a bandwidth or signal issue, as although I am a couple of rooms away from the router, my Macbook shows full signal in the same location as the AX.
If it helps I am using a Netgear WGR614 router with WPA personal security. I hope somebody can help.

The "bars" really don't give you an accurate picture of the signal strength, and they tell you nothing about noise.
You might want to download a utility like iStumbler to get a different look at your network and also identify other wireless networks around you that may be contributing to the Wireless Interference that is likely causing your problems.

AE works for a bit, then stops. I unplug it, and the cycle starts again...

I have an Airport Express connected to my main Apple Base Station via WDS. An older iMac is connected to the Airport Express via ethernet. I have an iBook which I connect wirelessly with. Everything (network, internet, etc.) has worked flawlessly forever until recent probelm with the Airport Express. It will work for a while and then it stops. The green light is still on but no internet connectiion and no network. If I check using the Airport Admin tool, the Base Station is still there but the Airport Express is no longer listed. If I unplug the Airport Express and replug it in, it powers up and everything is fine for a while, but then it drops off again. I have tried both a hard and soft reset.
Recently upgraded OS X 10.4.4. Could that be related?

It sounds like interference or a weak signal. Try going into Airport Admin Utility and enabling Interference Robustness (under "Wireless Options...") on both the AEBS and AX.

in itunes no longer is there.

I'd first try cycling power on the AirPort Express. If that doesn't help, it might help to reset the connection settings on your Mac using these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved, recognizing that, depending on your problem, not all of these steps will make sense:
1) Use the AirPort/Wi-Fi menu bar item to turn AirPort/Wi-Fi off, then on again.
2) Try to select your Wi-Fi network from the AirPort/Wi-Fi menu.
3) In the Network panel of System Preferences delete the AirPort/Wi-Fi item from the left column, then add it back.
4) In the same panel as (3), define a new location and see if you can make that work.
5) In the same panel, select the AirPort/Wi-Fi connection item, click the "Advanced" button, select the "TCP/IP" tab, then click "Renew DHCP Lease". Note that the fix this step implements may be temporary.
6) In the folder /Library/Preferences ( _not_ <yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences), move the folder SystemConfiguration onto the Desktop, then restart your computer. See if you can now make your AirPort connection work.
These steps may not help, but they'll only take a couple of minutes to try. Before you try these, if you have any special network settings on your Mac for things like DSL credentials, note all your network settings, because the latter steps will destroy them. If you got all the way to the last step, if things don't work any worse than before, you can trash the saved SystemConfiguration folder.

Wireless: Works for a minute then full signal with no data.

My wireless connection works for a few minutes but then suddenly I can't transmit any data, though the signal shows full strength.
Turning Airport off and back on fixes this...
The problem is that I'm having to do it literally dozens of times every session at the laptop, once every couple minutes. There is no way to tell it is "jammed up" without having a post fail or a page not load. Most videos on YouTube wont buffer all the way. It's really a pain in the neck. None of the other computers in the house are having this issue.

It could be the DNS settings your ISP is using. Mac's tend to be more selective about DNS settings than other computers. If you are not familiar with DNS here is a MacWorld article called DNS Troubleshooting that will help explain. To change your DNS setting please do the following:
1. System preferences
2. Network
3. Click Advanced
4. Click DNS tab
5. Click + sign
6. Add 208.67.222.222
7. Click + sign
8. Add 208.67.220.220
9. Click OK.
10. Exit System Preferences
11. Try out your Mac and report what happened.

Photobooth works for one second, then stops.

It used to work. Like all the time.
I'm using a Logitech camera, which works fine in Skype and iChat. But when I open Photobooth, the camera turns on, works for a period of one second, then it stops. If Photobooth is open but behind another program, when I switch back to Photobooth I get a quick one second refresh of the image before it freezes up again.
When I Apple-T, I get the 3-2-1 countdown, then it takes a picture of the frozen image and adds it to the previous photos.
The camera is plugged into a USB 2.0 card I installed last year. Everything else on the card is working. I've even switched ports around, and everything is working (which makes sense, because the camera works in Skype and iChat.)
I was hoping to use the video function to record some voiceover stuff and then transfer the audio into iMovie.

I would try Repair Permissions.
This is done with Disk Utility found in Applications/Utilities using the First AID tab.
If that does not work I would Reset the PRAM
Hold down AppleALT+PR keys on restart until you have three start up bongs.
If that does not work I would download and install the Combo Installer of the OS level you are up to.

Strange issues with W7 shared Laserjet 1020 to XP machine - works for a while then stops

I have a principal with a Windows 7 machine and a Laserjet 1020 printer. The assistant Principal (XP machine) wants to print to his printer.
When the printer is shared - it will work for a day or two then it will stop responding. The print jobs from the W7 machine will just dissapear. They won't even go in the print que. Stopping and re-starting the print spooler doesn't help, power down of the printer doesn't help. The ONLY fix seems to be to delete the printer and re-install. HUGE pain!!!
I have made sure bi-directional is UNCHECKED and it still has these issues.
I re-installed the printer and didn't share it and it has now worked flawlessly for over a week.
But I really need this share to work! HELP!!! I've never seen a problem like this before!

Photostream works for a while, then stops and won't upload to iCloud anymore. Rebooting the phone resolves the issue. Anyone know why?

I have an iPhone 4S. Photo stream works for a while but then it will just stop and not upload any photos to iCloud. Rebooting the phone resolves the problem. This happens very often and is frustrating for something that should just work. Once they get uploaded, they are downloaded to other devices without a problem.
Any idea what could be going wrong with it? I hate taking pictures of stuff that I need on my other devices not knowing if they're going to make it there or not.

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like Photo Stream works but stops and a restart fixes it. A frustrating situation for sure. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Close the Camera app on the device that took the photo. Photos won't upload from an iOS device to My Photo Stream until you close the Camera app.

Airport Express working for 15 mins - Tops!

FACTS:
I have a G5, Dual 1.8, running 10.4.7.
I have Airport Extreme Card and Airport Express (running most current firmware), purchased 1 year ago.
Connecting using Toshiba Cable Modem PCX2200 thorugh Time Warner Cable in New York City.
According to iStumbler, I have 23 possible networks in my range.
Currently, I have set my setting to factory default to "try" and maintain connection.
PROBLEM:
Everytime I try to personalize my settings, AE craps out (starts flasing yellow) anywhere from 10 - 15 mins. I've hard reset and factory defaulted reset at least 5 times in the past two weeks. I "think" this all started after I upgraded to 10.4.7.
I've read mult. posts about people being able to overcome their "issues" by setting interference robustness and changing their channels. According to iStumbler, everyone else in my range is running channel 11, 2, 8 or 6, so I have tried setting 4, 10 and automatic... but nothing seems to be solving WHY my AE continually starts flashing yellow.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than what is suggested in the Aiport/AE help pages?

It seems as though if I wait a while, my connection remains stable. FOr the past 1.5 hours, I have been watching TV and my indicator light has remained stable and green until I came on to check my mail and update my website. It's, again, not working. I'm posting this by connecting to someone else's wireless connection.
Does anyone else have an idea?

Hi. I've got multiple Macs, but only my 2 laptops are wireless. I've currently got an Airport Express hooked up to my router which supplies the laptops with their connection. I would like to stream my iTunes - which resides on an external drive connected to my 17" FP iMac - to my stereo system in a different room.
Now...if I pick up another Airport Express, will the fact that the iMac that the iTunes is set up is not wireless and instead basically physically connected to the main Epress cause a problem with it being recognised? I can see that one in Airport Utilitiy as it stands now. Or would I also have to get an Airport card for the iMac for it to see the second Express? I don't feel like paying $100 to find out that it won't work or this setup and all I've really done is extend the range of my network, which is not a problem.

No it will not cause a problem.

My new WRE54G works for a bit then stops

Firstly I cannot begin to complain enough about what a faff this thing was to set up.
The supplied disk just "failed" to do a site survey every time i ran the setup.
In the end, i managed to get in through ethernet straight into my laptop. and configure it to my wireless router settings . . .
it was running WPA which i set it all up for, and success!
Two blue lights signal was boosted, everything was working great . . . for about 15 mins. then the link LED started flashing RED and i could no longer connect to the device on my wireless network!
Annoying, i decided (after many restarts - where it would work for a few mins then drop off again)
Maybe it's because i'm using WPA network? so changed the settings in all my wireless devices to WEP then changed the settings on the expander, then on my router, it connected fine, then again after around 15 mins, red light flashing again!
No booster working !!!
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be before i send this thing back to the shop,

What is the Model no of the router..?
Check the Wireless Channel on the router and the WRE...they should be identical.If they are same then,try changing the Channel to 11 on router and WRE..Also Change the Security Mode to WEP on both.
