Airport express works on all but one?

I set up a third airport express and connected a printer to it. I just use it for printing so made it it's own network. It seemed to be working fine but now our G-5 won't connect to it. It sees the other networks fine and our other computers locate and use it w/o incident. Is there any way that the other router that is next to the g-5 can interfere with it?

As you already know, the default radio channel used by the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is "Automatic," which may not offer enough separation between the two wireless networks that you are trying to run. I suggest that you manually select a radio channel. For example, choose one to be 11 and the other (the AX for the printer) to be 1.

  • Airport express working on mac but not on pc

My airport express works wonderfully on my Macbook Pro, but I would also like my PC to connect to the same network. I have tried everything that I have found online, and the PC will not recognize or "find" the airport network. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ok, thanks for the additional info.
    I suggest trying the following:
o Temporarily disable the WPA/WPA2 Personal wireless encryption, and then, check to see if any of the XP devices can now access the network/Internet?
o If they can't then, while the encryption is still disabled, change the radio mode on the AX to a non-"n" one, like "802.11g only." You can access this mode, by holding down the <Option> (Mac) or <Control> (PC) key prior to selecting the mode within the AirPort Utility. Can they access the network/Internet now?

  • Airport express works w/itunes, but not when streaming any website

My airport express works fine when using itunes. However, when I go to my favorite radio websites, my ibook g4 does not recognize that the AExpress exists. Is there a remedy?
    Thanks.

  • Airport Express works with Skype but not with internet

    Hi,
I recently bought some new Airport Express' for my company. However, when plugging it in we seemingly get full access, but only Skype seems to work. If I do a search on the internet it can sometimes look like it find the address after a long while, but don't manage to open the page. E.g. writing www.google.com in the search field doesn't give access to that page.
I brought them home to check if the Airports worked there, and they did. No problem. But at the office the Airports don't. If I connect the same plug which is connected to the Airport into the MAC / PC, then I have full connection to the internet.
    What to do?

After Grant pointed out the DNS thing, I started to check that part, and I noticed something funny. I called Apple Support regarding the problem, and now it's solved
    Here is my experience:
    1. My Airports worked fine when home, but not at work.
    2. Checking the LAN DNS addresses I received three addresses. 2 in the 158.xx... range and one in the 129.xxx... range.
    3. The Airport Extreme and Airport Express does only support two DNS addresses, and since the two 158.xx... DNS addresses came first in that range the 129.xxx... was left out.
    4. I manually changed one of the 158.xx... addresses to the 129.xxx... address I got on my MAC / PC when I connected directly to the wall and did a "ipconfig /all" on the PC. The three same addresses is listed under network - airport on the MAC.
    5. Now suddenly it all worked. This due to that the two 158.xx... addresses seamed to be internal addresses, and the 129.xxx... address was from outside delivered from our operator.
    Summarized:
When you receive 3 DNS addresses you MAC and PC can handle it fine, but your Airport not. Find all your DNS addresses and write them down. Enter Airport Admin Utility and do a manual setup. Change one of the two equal address to the third address. Most probably listed as the last DNS address when you are connected directly and type e.g. "ipconfig /all" on your PC or you enter the network settings.
    Best regards,
    Bouw

  • Ps Actions work for all but one person in office. Same Software... Alignment bug/settings?

I have created two photoshop actions that convert a PDF into jpg pages, and then slices those pages into pre-sized pieces, and saves the pieces out individually. Two versions, for two differently sized PDFs.
We use this in the office for creating a "book" visual from a tricky indesign file.
Both actions work fine for me.
Both actions work fine for coworker#1.
However, when Coworker #2 uses either of these actions, the chopped up pieces to not align properly in photoshop, and instead leave blank sections where they should have been merged together. (align box A top. Align box A to Shape_gutter. the second step never happens.
This 'error' occurs on both PDF Styles' actions for cowroker#2, so I'm assuming it has to be a setting? We are all running the same version of photoshop (Up to Date CC 2014), and testing on the same files.
    anyone have any insight?

Everything is not exactly the same you state one is different. There is something different in the mix.  A broken file a bug in the install in the system there is a difference some place.  You see different results... Perhaps a different level of code are plug-ins involved other actions etc.
Post the action let us look at it/them.

  • Airport Express Works Everywhere Except One Place

I have several rooms in my house with their own stereos, and my new Airport Express works on all of them. However, I have one stereo outside, in the garage and the Airport Express does not work out there. I assume that the wireless signal doesn't reach there. Is there a way to boost the wireless signal? The garage stereo is probably about 50 feet from the wireless modem, which is in the basement of my house. This is probably a dumb question, but I don't know anything!

Soonerfunk, Welcome to the discussion area!
If the wireless signal were created by an AirPort Express (AX), an AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS), or a Time Capsule it would be possible. However it is not possible when the wireless network is created by a wireless modem.

  • Airport Express works, but MacBook doesn't when connected directly to Modem

I have an interesting problem. I have Verizon DSL. Airport Express works, but Linksys and Netgear wifi routers don't work. Further more, if I disconnect the wifi router and directly connect a MacBook or a Windows notebook they don't work. These devices work if I enter a static IP address though. It is DHCP that doesn't work.
I have been using Verizon DSL for several years, and most recently I was using a Netgear wifi router. A few days ago it lost internet connection. Thinking that the Netgear broke, I bought a new Linksys WRT54GL to replace it. But it didn't work either. I happened to have an Airport Express lying around, so I connected that and surprisingly it worked! Then I wrote down the IP address shown by Airport Utility and typed that IP into Netgear as a static IP address and it worked too. If I remove all wifi equipment and connect a Windows PC or a MacBook directly to the DSL modem then neither works. (Note: my DSL modem doesn't use PPPoE it uses DHCP.)
So it seems that something changed with Verizon's DHCP such that only Airport Express can work. Contacting Verizon support was useless. What is so magical about Airport Express? I can't use Airport Express permanently because I have 3 wired computers to connect also, and Airport Express have ethernet ports. Airport Extreme does, so I am wondering if I should get one of those. Will the magic of Airport Express work in Extreme also?
Does anyone know what is going on? How is Airport Express work with Verizon DHCP when nothing else can?

Hello petilon. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Does anyone know what is going on? How is Airport Express work with Verizon DHCP when nothing else can?
It sounds like Verizon is keying on the MAC address of the device connected to its modem ... so either they require that you register a MAC address with them or there is a problem with the modem in that it is retaining it even though you change the device connected.
If you haven't already, be sure to perform a complete power recycle when changing out network equipment. The following should be done each time:
o Power-down, the modem, router, and computer(s); wait at least 10-15 minutes. Order is not critical. If the modem has a backup battery, it should be removed and replaced to make sure that any stored configuration information is erased.
o Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Power-up the router; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    o Power-up the computer(s).

  • I have qualitynet either wired internet. I buy a card good for a month at a time, I can only log into one device at any one time.  Are there settings I can adjust on my airport express to allow all my devices to connect to wi-fi without having to log out.

Some Internet providers that limit access to a single device at a time do so by the device's hardware MAC address. If your ISP is one of those, you may be able to substitute the MAC address of your AirPort Express base station for the computer. I would suggest that you contact them to find out if this is allowable.

Reboot the modem. Just pull the power for a few seconds. No settings are lost.  The laptop getting through to the internet is not relevent.

Is this an older "round" version of the AirPort Extreme? If yes, it is true that AirPort Utility 6.x no longer supports the older AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express models.
A model number......located on the bottom of the Extreme or on the side of the Express would be helpful to confirm what you have.
Apple probably does want you to buy a new AirPort Extreme.
The workaround might be to use a Mac or PC running a 5.x version of AirPort Utility.
A more complicated workaround would be to install AirPort Utility 5.6 on Mountain Lion.  This is not supported by Apple......it does work for me.....but may not work for you. See this article for more details:

  • I just connected a new airport express to my stereo but the itunes on my desktop mac isn't version 4.6 and every attempt to download the newer version only ends up downloading 4.1. How do i get my desktop itunes to play through airport express?

Why doesn't my airport express work with itunes 4.1 and why can't I update the version I have to 4.6? Each time I find a site with 4.6 and click download it downloads as the earleir 4.1 version and not the newer one.

You are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it.

  • How to make UK Airport Express work with older US Time Capsule 5GHz?

I just replaced two dead Airport Express units and the new one's fail to recognise the 5Gz network of my TC when try to set them up in AirPort Utility.  The other networks I have show up but since I reserve the TC 5Ghz exclusively for music streaming around house to AEX-attached speakers, not having the new models playing along is deeply frustrating. The TC was bought in US three years ago. The AEX are UK and brand new.  No problems at all with the other AEX units I have which all function perfectly.  These were also US models.  I'm fearing a change that prevents UK AEX from working with US TC 5GHz wifi.
    Any ideas?

The US and UK will doubtless have different allowable 5ghz channels.
Firstly set the country code in the TC if possible to UK although it might not appear on the list.
Note to find the right page to enter country is simple.. start the manual setup.. in the find a setting box, type country.. the correct page will pop up. Change that to UK.. I suspect it cannot happen but try regardless.
Someone else might like to comment if you can force the firmware upgrade to use the correct version from UK.. but maybe hard written into the firmware.. and only countries listed will be those in the region the airport is sold in. Time manufacturers got rid of regional distribution.. and just select anywhere in the world.
If as I suspect no go on that one, just setup the TC to a wireless channel manually shared with UK. The problem now is the TC set to auto can choose a channel not allowed in the UK and therefore invisible to the UK Airport Express.. so lock the channel of the TC to one that is common.

  • How can I get the Airport Express to handle all the PPPoE stuff?

Hi, I’m visiting my family in China, and now trying to help my dad, with his Airport Express and how to set up a PPPoE connection.
We have currently set up the Airport Express in bridge mode (not distributing IP adresses and selecting DHCP under the Internet tab in admin utility). The Airport settings on our two computers is set up to connect using PPPoE using the given login name and password. (ps! we can not see the Base station in Airport Admin Utility when using these settings, we would have to select a new location from the Apple menu to see it and make condigurations.)
What we want is to do, is to have the Airport Express connect to the ISP using a PPPoE connection and not through the computer.
I know there is a 'Connect using PPPoE' option in Airport admin util, letting me input account name and password. If I select this setting instead of DHCP, enable distribution of IP addresses and configure my Airport card to NOT connect using PPPoE, I will see my base station in the Airport admin util with the IP address of 10.0.1.1 (or similar) and my computer will have x.x.x.2. Next to the Airport icon in the menubar, a scrolling message will say 'Looking for PPPoE host' without anything happen. I am sure my account name and password is correct as they've both worked when using this computer to connect to PPPoE (like now)
How can I get the Airport Express to handle all the PPPoE stuff without using bridge mode?
Ps! Both me and my dad have iPhones whom we can’t seem to get to connect unless its been distributed an IP address cause there's as fars as I know, no options of inputing a PPPoE user name and password.

Any solutions to this? I'm in China also, in Beijing, trying to get my Airport Express to work with an ADSL modem.
Direct ethernet cable connection to my Macbook works fine.
When I configure the Airport Express with the ID and password that seems to be fine also – Airport Express shows a green light.
But I cannot figure out the settings to connect wirelessly from my Macbook to the Airport Express. I get a constantly scolling message: "Looking for PPPoEhost..."
    thanks
    Paul

  • Does airport express work with garage band in lion?

Actually I know it can work and there are apps out there to make it work but I heard a rumor that Apple was going to allow functionaliy between the two in Lion. So my question is...
Will Airport Express work with Garage Band in Lion or do I have to buy third party software?

I believe the HP 2840 can be connected either via Ethernet or USB. If connected to the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) by USB, only the basic printing functions will be shared out; the scanning, faxing, copying features are not supported.
If the AX is configured so that its Ethernet port is enabled, the it may be possible to gain all of the printer's features by connecting it to the AX by Ethernet. In this case, the printer will use its own Print server to share out all of these features.
