Airport Extreme and Epson Stylus Photo R260

I continue to get a communication error and am unable to print to my R260 through the Airport Extreme hub. Running the latest drivers from Epson, and version 5.3.2 firmware on the Airport Extreme. Airport Extreme show the R260 in its Printer Settings, and the printer shows up in all application print dialogue boxes.
I noticed that Version 5.3.2 (which automatically downloaded and installed on my Airport Extreme), is not rated for Mac OSX 10.4.9. Could that be my problem? If so, is there any way to downgrade the firmware on the Airport Extreme?
Thanks,
Daniel

I found all the old firmware through the apple downloads page. Yes, you can go back to 5.3.1

  • What's the best driver for an Epson Stylus Photo R260 printer?

After the last couple of driver updates for Mavericks, my printer won't print just black although it is using the black ink to shade colors darker. I previously used another driver but didn't buy it after the trail period was up but now I'm getting desperate. Unfortunately, I can't remember that driver's name. Does anyone have a suggestion for a driver for an epson stylus photo r260 inkjet?

How are you trying to set the print to just black? Are you setting the color to Grayscale under Print Settings in the Print window?
Should be the same for the 260 as the 280.

  • Printing from XP to Epson Stylus Photo R260 on a Powermac G5

Tried configuring this set up a couple different ways (Bonjour, add a printer utility, tech.ifelex tutorial) and in all cases the printer is detected and configured. I send a job from the XP, never see it arrive on "Active" list of the Stylus Photo print queue on the PMG5, but after a minute of so it IS on the list of "Completed" print jobs. Just never prints. Connected via USB to the G5, XP is on Airport wireless, Windows print sharing is on and the printer is selected for sharing. If I try from my Macbook it works fine.
    Any ideas?

BTW, downloaded updated Epson drivers last night for both the Mac and XP boxes. I have them installed but haven't tried testing them again with the printer connected to the G5 and printer sharing "on". I currently have the Epson on the printer port for the Airport Extreme and it works fine for both the Mac and XP boxes. The problem is you can't access many of the advanced printer options the direct connection to a computer provides, like ink levels and paper type selection.

  • Anyone else having difficulty with Adobe Photoshop CC and Epson Stylus Photo R3000?

Everytime I try to print an image from Photoshop CC to my Epson Stylus Photo R3000, it can't seem to find the printer.  I have no problem printing the same image from Lightroom 5 or Preview on Mac.  The printer shows in the Photoshop Print Dialogue box but after I click Print the print queue just says searching for printer and can't find it.  I can print a test page from the printer Utility and anything else I try, just not Photoshop CC.  I'm running OSX 10.9 Mavericks.  Thanks.

  • Using iMac, Aperture 3, and & Epson Stylus Photo R1800 printer: How come my prints look like trash?

I have calibrated my iMac Intel Core i3 and printing through Aperture 3 with an Epson Stylus Photo R1800 is not producing great results. Cyan is dominating along with blue lines through the grass in the picture. I figure the lines are a result of clogged head...but the fact the prints are not close to the image on the screen is alarming. HELP!!!

    SFSteinie,
There is an Aperture forum, I'd recommend reposting there and perhaps another R I 1800 users has some insight you may not know about.

  • Mavericks AND Epson Stylus Photo R280-driver?

I just removed one EPSON Stylus Photo R280 and plugged in another one of the same model. Can't find the printer when I send something to print, so I deleted the printer from my printer list and then added it back. It wants to go to the Apple server and get the software, which it says is available. When I hit add, it looks and says software is not available. The old printer was runnning printing fine, so obviously there is a driver. How do I get it to recognize it?

What if you try deleting the /Library/Printer/EPSON and the/Library/Caches/Epson/ folders and then reinstalling the updates?

  • Problems printing using iPhoto and Epson Stylus Photo R2400

I'm using OS 10.5.6 and iPhoto 8.0.2(402) to print pictures on my Epson Stylus Photo R2400.
I have other printers set up on this computer and they all print everything just fine regardless of the program I am using.
Using the Epson Stylus, I'm able to print from any other program than iPhoto.
When I try to print pictures from iPhoto, I get the error message...
can't open ` /private/var/spool/cups/tmp/4a18c65407c9b (the numbers at the end changes each time I try to print.
When I go in to check the folders out to see what might be causing the problem, the permissions on the folder cups and tmp have the following rights set up. system = Read & Write, _lp = No Access, everyone = No Access.
I've been able to set the everyone setting to equal Read & Write access, but I can't get the _lp access to change. When I reboot the computer, the everyone setting goes back to No Access.
Any ideas for how I can get this to work?
    Thanks,
    Bill

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I don't have a tried and true fix for that but I would start with dumping the printer driver via the System/Print pane and then reinstall it. Go to the Epson site to download the latest driver for that particular model in case there's a newer one released.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Tiger and Epson Stylus Photo 870

I just upgraded to 10.4.11 from 10.3.9. My Epson Stylus Photo 870 (USB connected) was working fine under Panther. However, now with Tiger, I can't get it to print. It still works fine in Classic mode. Had the same problem with Tiger and my HP 1200 but, after reinstalling the HP software from the CD, that works fine now in Tiger. Tried reinstalling the Epson software also, but it still won't print in Tiger. What am I missing?

Thanks to all the advice I found in earlier posts. I downloaded and installed the Gimp drivers and everything works correctly now.

  • Airport Extreme and Epson Aculaser Cx11nf

Have tried to set up my Epson aculaser cx11nf to print via Bonjour. Printer set up sees the bonjour printer but when I wish to add it all I get is rainbow wheel and have to force quit printer set up. Anybody been able to set up an Epson Aculaser CX11nf to print via Airport Extreme.

You have to reset the printing system.
    In 10.4:
From the "Printer Setup Utility" menu select the "Reset Printing System" command and, even though you're not asked to do so, restart the Mac.
For all other versions of Mac OS X:
    http://www.fixamac.net/software/index.html
I had the same problem and was able to bring back printing to 5 Macs running (10.3.9, 10.4.6 and 10.4.7).

  • IPhoto 6 and Epson Stylus Photo 2200 Printer

The photos that I print from iPhoto 6 to my Epson 2200 printer are all coming out way too green. What settings do I need to use in the print dialog -- and color management? -- to get decent results? I can print beautifully from Photoshop CS2 to the 2200. I just can't figure out what settings to use in iPhoto. Thanks in advance for your help with this question. _sidpink

Kingstone's reply was helpful even though a little discouraging. But it made me realize that the problem probably lies with the choice of which software is doing the color management. The Epson 2200 printer driver provides some "advanced" settings in the print window, and I had been specifying "No color adjustment," because that's the setting recommended when printing from Photoshop. I had simply been trying the same setting when printing from iPhoto. But I went back and printed a photo from iPhoto using the "Color Controls" setting (without changing any of the variables), and the print came out perfectly! So I've answered the question to my satisfaction thanks to Kingstone's reply -- and I don't have to go out and invest in Photoshop Elements.

  • CS4 soft (out of focus) print preview w/Epson Stylus Photo R260

The print preview and actual printed photo is softer/fuzzier/out of focus compared to the image in Photoshop CS4.  Printer profile SPR260 270 UPGP is being used with Color Controls OFF.
I have just shifted from CS2 to CS4 and moved from a PC to a Mac Book Pro.  I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve so any help would be greatly appreciated.  This is a new problem had not encountered before with this printer.
    David

    Thank you Ramon.
The image is 1650 wide by 900 pixels high.  Printing resolution is 300 ppi.
Print size is 5 1/2" wide by 3" high.
    It is a tiff file.
    OS version is 10.5.7
The CS4 11.0.1 update has been applied.
The monitor was just calibrated using a Pantone Eye-One LT.
Comparing the print preview on the monitor screen with the original image
also on the screen, the print preview is not quite as sharp as the original
    and is slightly less saturated.
I checked out the workflow on Gary Ballard's web site and mine follows it.

  • SL + Epson Stylus Photo R260 + Epson driver: no way to set draft mode

    Hi,
I'm trying to get an iMac(intel) / Epson R260 working correctly after a recent upgrade from 10.4 to 10.6. The printer is connected directly to the iMac (i.e., not to Time Machine).
The Gutenprint driver that came with SL produces awful results, so I downloaded the Epson driver from Epson site (10.6 compatible). It produces much better results, but for some reason it's printing in draft mode . . . +and I can't find the quality control anywhere!!+
I think I've been through every submenu within the Print dialog; in particular, the Print Settings that appear to contain printer-specific settings. Does such a control exist?
The Gutenprint driver offers scads of quality settings - unfortunately, as I say, the prints are completely washed out even at 'Best' quality. My client is also intimidated by the Gutenprint options and would prefer to use the ones she's more familiar with from 10.4; namely, the Epson-supplied driver.
Thanks for any ideas or conjectures.
    Chap

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
The print settings menu is where the quality control should be found. In this menu, there should be media type and print quality pulldown menu's. The GutenPrint driver will have a similar menu however it should say 'Printer Features" instead of 'Print Settings".
    Hope this helps,
    Syd

  • Lightroom 2 and Epson Stylus Photo 1280

Using the latest Epson drivers, I am unable to access the color management settings in the Print Dialog Box now that I've updated to LR2. The latest version of Gutenprint (5.2.0 beta3) intermittently displays the Printer Features which mimic the Epson driver color settings, but are too complex even when they do display.
Adobe states it's Epson's issue and old drivers. Epson has no suggestion other than talking to Adobe.
This is running on a Intel MacBook Pro under OS X 10.5.4
Does anyone have any suggestions beside getting a newer printer?
    Thanks

  • Problem to print with iPhoto and epson stylus photo RX620

I asked a question about the print with Iphoto. Larry gave some explainations but it still doesn't work. I can change the reglages with Safari, with Mail but not with Iphoto. So when I try to print photos, the reglage is standard and the result is bad. I would like to change the reglage, if i use glassy photo paper. With my PC, I have no problem to print with window or picassa. Thanks for your answer.

First I have no idea in the world what "reglage" is
But what ever printer specific options are available are supplied by the manafacturer's print driver and these are available on the last print window

To clear a mix of driver files and get only the latest Intel Core Duodriver
download installed and working properly, do the following:
    REMOVE FILES
    1. Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
    2. Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
    3. Double click on the PRINTERS folder.
    4. Drag the EPSON folder to the trash can.
    5. Close any open windows.
    6. Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
    7. Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
    8. Double click on the RECEIPTS folder.
    9. Delete any EPSON receipts.
    10. Close all open windows and restart your computer.
    DOWNLOAD
If you have not done so already, use the following steps to obtain the
download for the new Intel Core Duodriver:
    1. Go to http://support.epson.com
    2. Select PRINTERS then INKJET, then your model.
    3. Under DRIVERS & DOWNLOADS select Macintosh.
    4. Download only the driver marked for the Intel Core Duo system: Printer
    Driver v3.6aAs (epson 12071.dmg)
    Installation instructions:
    1. After download is complete, double click the icon that appears on your
desktop. This will create a disk image on your desktop.
    2. Open this disk image and double-click the INSTALLER icon to begin the
    installation.
    3. Enter password and follow prompts through install.
    4. Quit the installer and restart the Mac once the installation is

Please try the following to add the printer once the new downloadable Intel
Core Duo driver has been downloaded and installed properly:
    1. Connect printer.
    2. Open Printer Setup Utility.
    3. Click ADD.
    4. Ensure you are on the Default Browser window.
    5. Highlight printer as it appears under Printer Name.
    6. Your printer model should automatically appear under PRINT USING. If it
does not appear, select OTHER (not EPSON - which links you to GIMP drivers,
which we don't recommend or support).
    7. A new window opens where you can Browse to the hard drive location of:
HD > Library > Printers > Epson > Inkjet Printers
(This location contains all the Intel Core DuoEpson driver plugins, be they
    resident or downloaded.)
    8. Highlight/Select the plugin for your printer model in the Inkjet
    Printers folder, then click OPEN.
    9. Use the up/down arrows at the end of PRINT USING again to (re)select the
printer's name, which will now appear at the TOP of the PRINT USING list.
    10. Click ADD. The new downloaded driver will now be added on the list.
    11. If there are other printers on the list, ensure the Epson is made
    default before testing.
