AirPort Extreme and HP Officejet Pro 8000

I have had to replace my existing wireless router with an AirPort Extreme router.  When I connect the printer to the router with a cable the system sees the printer and can print perfectly fine.  However, when disconnect the printer cable and try and use the wireless connection the printer disapears and the connection is lost.
What am I forgeting to do?

By connecting the printer to the router with a cable, you are using Ethernet. The Ethernet cable will have to be plugged in at all times to print through network.
In order to connect wireless, you will need to have wireless printer. Do you have the Officejet 8000 wireless, or just the Officejet 8000. What is your product number, found on the back of the printer?
If it is wireless, you will need to plug in the USB cable from the printer to the computer.
1. Go to your HP folder under ALL PROGRAMS.
2. Choose your printer, and click on WIRELESS CONFIGURATION.
3. After that, you will choose Convert USB to Wireless.

  • Can't cure a "MSI.BufferChm - Error 1603" problem and install Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless software.

I'm trying to install an HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless A809N. OS = XP Pro SP3. I keep getting a message:
"Fatal error during installation.   [code 1603?]  [error situation code: 27764920]
The older version of BufferChm cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."
I tried all the suggestions on this support page:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02455020&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us
except that in solution two, some of the services wouldn't turn off  due to "Access Denied".
I finally gave up and installed the basic drivers and hoped that once they were installed, I could install the full software. But no dice! How do I fix this "MSI.BufferChm" problem?
    Thanks.

I don't blame the consumer-users in this forum, but when HP advertises the forum so prominently in so many places as one of their "solutions", they should provide employee help here.
I googled and it seems to be a problem for a lot of folks.  And a lot of references back to this forum.  I didn't follow too many of them and didn't spot a solution.  There may be one - I just didn't see it.
This is from Microsoft and has several ideas I didn't see on the HP site.  Microsoft Link  Take a look.  MSI is a microsoft thing, not HP.
As for HP employees, there are some that monitor this group unofficially.  Hopefully you'll get some attention now.  Or at least from some of the other folks who may have even more computer fixit experience.

  • Airport Extreme and 15" Macbook Pro (2006 - Intel)

I am having an issue with my MacBook Pro staying connected to my Internet. I am using an Airport Extreme and it is running the updated firmware. For some reason its also affecting my iPhone (3G), but not my new iMac. My iMac stays connected while the Internet connection for both the iPhone and MacBook Pro work for a little while and then just stop. If I unplug the airport extreme, they work again but only for a little while. I tried to reset the modem, but that has no effect (and besides the fact that the iMac remains connected to the Internet. Any ideas?

In reading the available text about the airport extreme, I see there's an 802.11n upgrade for machines with an Intel Core 2 Duo. My MBP has a Core Duo, not Core 2 Duo. Am I "n" capable?
    Thx.

Sorry, but no the Core Duo version of the MBPs can not be upgraded. If you require "n" capability, you will have to resort to a third-party solution, like the products offered by QuickerTek or Other World Computing (OWC).

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 warm up time?

I am interested in the HP Officejet Pro 8000 wireless.  However, many reviews for this printer mentions the long warm up time everytime they turn on their printer.  I contacted HP chat tech support and chat sales support many times and they kept saying that there is no warm up time and that I can print immediately without delay.
Currently I have an HP Deskjet 920c from early 2000 and it works great.  I turn it on, click print and it prints immediately with no warm up time or delay.  However,  I am looking for a printer that prints much faster and the Officejet Pro 8000 seems like what I need.  However, if there is a warm up time, then that just defeats the purpose of saving time.
Anyone with this printer know if there is a warm up time when the printer is turned on?

I just bought the Officejet pro 8000 (not the wireless one, but USB connected) to replace my 5550c deskjet that died. I do switch it off with all other hardware at night, because the power plugs are all on the same surge protector power strip, which has an on/off switch. When powering up again, it takes more or less the same time as my PC takes to fully boot up to a useable desktop (~2 minutes). So it's not a problem for me.
The official advice is not to switch it off as in sleep mode it uses very little power. First page print from sleep mode (which it returns to if you don't use it for a while) takes about 10 to 20 seconds. After that it is very fast. I have found it to be a very good printer.

  • Port Forwarding for Two Macs, one Airport Extreme and one Dynalink RTA1320

I had previously set up PortForwarding for some of my Applications on my iMac with an Ethernet connected Dynalink RTA1320 Modem by assigning myself a Static IP in the iMac`s Network Preferences.
All had been good, green smilies on Azureus when D/Ling bitorrents, Skype, WoW and Limewire all running fine.
I`ve now just recently purchased the latest Airport Extreme and 17" MacBook Pro.
Setting up a Wireless Network for the two Macs to access the internet was a breeze and both computers run fine online simultaneously.
I manually set the Ports on the MBP Applications: Skype, Azureus and Limewire to match the Ports I`d previously PortForwarded the RTA1320 to.
However, on the new MBP, Skype, Azureus and Limewire don`t seem to run too well.
I get yellow smilies on Azureus and a "Port Appears Closed" message on the NAT Test and my Skype Contacts are leaving me messages saying I always appear "off-line".
The iMac Apps still work flawlessly.
I`m guessing the problem is something to do with two Macs on a Wireless Network with one Static IP Address or what am I doing wrong?

  • Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless won't connect to my new Airport Extreme router

I have owned my Officejet 8000 Wireless printer for about a year and had no problems with it.  However, my old wireless router wasn't fully Mac compatible so I couldn't secure it with a password.  I now need a secure network, so I bought an Apple Airport Extreme router in December.
I installed the router last night and it is working fine on my iMac, my PC laptop and my iPhone.
However, tonight I am trying to set up the Officejet Pro 8000 with no luck.  I've searched the posts here for 3 hours and am not finding the help I need.  Based on the other posts I've read, I am describing my situation below.
I am trying to set up the printer from my Intel iMac with Mac OS 10.6.4
I am trying to set up the printer with the HP Setup assistant that I just installed from the printer software.
On the first wizard screen it tells me that my device is not configured (I agree)
Then I ask it to configure for a wireless network.
When I get to the Network Selection page, both my network AND my guest network (which I let my neighbor use) are shown on the list with full signal strength.
When I click my network and then continue, the HP setup wizard freezes, and I have to force-quit it.
When I click my guest network and then continue, I get the message that my network is not within the reach.  (FYI, the printer is 10 feet from the router.)
I have tried powering on/off the printer, router, and computer at all different stages of the process with no luck.
    For my Airport:
My radio mode is set to the most compatible choice
MAC access control is not enabled
    Everything is WPA2 security
"Use wide channels" and "Create a closed network" are UN-checked
The channel is set to 11
I am happy to try the "Add network client" thing I saw on other posts, but I don't think I have a printer front panel where I can start the "WPS" (don't know what that is) process.   If I do, it's not obvious and not in the HP manual.
My ISP is Comcast (cable internet).
I would really, really appreciate some help!  Please let me know what information I forgot to include and I will be happy to provide it.
    Thank you!

First, you should be at 10.6.6, so please do Software Update (Apple menu) over and over until there are no more updates.
From where did you get the HP software for your printer? Was it labeled as being compatible with 10.6?
Finally, you will need to reset the printer so, let's do that:
Press and hold the Power button, press Network button, (on some models, press the Wireless button ), two times, press the
press the Cancel button three times, and release the Power button.

  • Officejet pro 8000 and HP Home & Biz print app

I have an Officejet Pro 8000 wireless that, according to HP's list, is compatible with the HP Home & Biz print app for the iPad 2.  However, the app does not find any printers on the wifi network.  I am running Win 7 and the printer is shared and works fine with printing wirelessly from the computer.  I followed the steps in the app to auto find any printer connected to the wifi, but it does not find anything at all.  The way I understand the app, it allows non-eprint capable printers to print using the app.  Am I missing something?

    Hi,
As you have mentioned the printer is shared from Windows 7, is the printer connected to the PC by USB?
In order to use the HP ePrint Home & Biz, the printer must be connected to your router by ethernet cable and then the up should detect it.
Please make sure both the iPad and the printer connected to your network.
Follow the steps below to access the printer EWS page:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01554589&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3762364&tmp...
Once locating the printer IP address, type it into Safari.
    Can you access the page?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printing Blank Pages Instead Of Data And Also Reorienting Itself

    Hi all
We have a wireless HP Officejet Pro 8000 in our office (but via cable, not wireless) to a network.  The printer is occasionally printing blank pages instead of say a spreadsheet selected to print.
The other issue is that if you say are printing two copies of the same spreadsheet, one prints okay (say landscape) and the second copy, selected at the time of printing, prints it portrait but only part of the left hand side of it and the rest is blank.  Coming out of and going back inthe file usually recitifes this.  But it does it again any time it feels like it.
We did have an upgrade, where our IT guy took away our desktop boxes and replaced with smaller base units and everything is run from a main server and alsoan upgrade from Windows 2000 to Network.  Problems started after this and the IT guy did update the printer driver.
Please would anyone be able to assist?  Any help for this frustrating problem gratefully accepted!
    Thanks,
    Saxplayer67

So the issue with the 8000 printer is periodic print jobs do not come out as you are wanting them. Is that right? This is interesting, just from the point of view that generally speaking issues like this are like a light switch, they are either there or they are not - they usually don't come and go. That being said, we are going to see what we  can do to resolve this. First I am going to recommend that we perform a clean installation of the printer after uninstalling it from the machine. By the way, what is the operating system you are working with - Is it Windows 2000 Network?
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3762364
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 - Press Print - wait 2 minutes and 30 seconds before printing

I have a new Officejet Pro 8000 non-networked printer. When I hit the print button, it does a very long initialization process that takes exactly 2 minutes and 30 seconds before I can print anything. I find this delay very annoying. I thought the printer must be defective so I went to Office Depot and played with one of theirs and it does the same thing. I've seen laser printers that took awhile to print, but I've never seen an inkjet printer take this long. I can't believe HP engineers thought this would be acceptable. I can't help but wonder just what the printer is doing for 2:30 minutes every time the printer is turned on and why this is necessary.
I have a friend with the printer just below it in price and function (Officejet Pro 6000) and his printer is ready to print as soon as the Print button is pushed.
Are there any other Officejet Pro 8000 owners out there that find this startup delay objectionable or am I being unreasonable?

The start-up time is my main complaint about this printer, but there is one other thing that I find very annoying. My old HP printer had an envelope slot. If I wanted to print an envelope or a check I could just insert it into this slot and quickly print it. Not this one. If I want to print an envelope, I have to remove the cover over the paper, remove all the paper, slide the side bars in and then print the envelope (or check)  and then go through the whole process in reverse. It's so inconvienent that I just hand write my envelopes and checks now. Is this progress? HP needs to hire some new engineers or fire some old ones.

You can use 3rd party software such as Print n Share if you have a PC or Printopia if you have a Mac.
Or you can check HPs site and see what they have available.

  • Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Has Both Power and Resume Buttons Blinking

Using Vista operating system with my Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless.  The Power button and the Resume button are blinking at the same time.  I went through HP's recommended fixes step by step and it still has the same problem.  I've done all the resets, etc., etc. and I searched High and Low for a paper jam which these two blinking lights apparently indicate but could not locate even a tiny little piece of paper jammed.
Any help is appreciated and by the way, this printer has not been used a ton.  Simple average use and well below the monthly use rating.
    Thanks,  Rick

I also have been having this exact same problem for over two years now but never found a solution. I  think I have only printed out about 50 pages since I purchased the printer new in 2010 and at one point it just started doing this.  I can reset the printer by unplugging it and it will work temporarily; sometimes long enough to print out 2 or 3 pages but always goes back to the same faulting state within minutes. This happen whether or not it's connected to a network, USB, or nothing at all.  I also have the newest firmware and purchasing new ink cartridges about 15 months ago never fixed it. (They are nearly empty now and I don't think I have printed more than about 15 pages!)  Does anyone from HP know why the printer keeps faulting like this? I print so seldom that it's a shame for me to have to have to buy a new printer just so that I can print out the odd few pages every few months, and this one was expensive back when I purchased it and it's practically useless when it keeps faulting like this.

  • Officejet pro 8000 and the power and resume lights keep flashing

I have an officejet pro 8000 and the power and resume lights keep flashing. I initially had the problem when I put a new black ink cartridge in. Lately there was an error message on the computer saying pump stall error, which then culminated in a print head error. I have replaced the print head at an extra £40 I have replaced all the ink cartridges which say they are low even though I haven't been printing. Basically spent the cost of the printer again  AND I STILL CANT PRINT! I'm using a Mac with snow leopard and I have reset the printer list and installed the new software and drivers. I have tried connecting with USB and Ethernet. I have filled up the paper. I have taken out the duplex and given it all a blow through. reset the print heads - basically everything the support web pages told me to do.
I have to say this is the worse printer I have ever had from HP. I always buy HP because of the quality. I have to say I feel unless this problem is solved with out me spending more money on it I will have to buy something else - and not HP ever! oh and the warranty is out by less than 2 months!
