Airport Extreme Compatible?

Trying to figure out if my eMac is Airport extreme compatible or not. I'm not sure what model I actually have. I looked up the serial number (N9J) and mine doesn't seem to be listed. So I'm not sure which model it is. It has most of the Ati specs, but it has an Nvidia Geforce card..... Anyone that could shed some light on this for me would be greatly appreciated.

Your eMac is most likely the original model; the original eMac and the ATI Graphics model have very similar specifications. One way of telling is checking the processor speed in the About this Mac menu item; only the original eMac came in a 700MHz configuration, and it did not come in a 1GHz model. For an 800MHz eMac, open the Displays pane of System Preferences and check the resolutions; the original eMac will have a 1152 by 864 resolution while newer eMacs have 1152 by 870. There are some differences in the frequencies for the lowest two resolutions as well. The original eMac cannot accept an AirPort Extreme card.
Edit: based on the information you subsequently posted, your eMac is definitely the original model.

  • Airport Extreme Compatible Printers - How can you tell by the printer spec?

    Hi,
If a printer spec says Mac OS X v10.3.9, 10.4 compatible am I safe in assuming it has drivers for Airport Extreme? If not how can I be sure? I'm trying to replace an old printer that doesn't work very well or have drivers specifically for the Airport Extreme.
    My OS is Tiger.

There are no drivers specifically for A-Extreme. You should refer to this list:

  • Is airport extreme compatible with windows 8?

Even though my ariport express works fine with my applec computers, I'm not able to print through it using a Windows 8rt Surface. • Mac Mini Airport Extreme compatible with LEAP?

I'm looking into having our department buy a Mini for some Mac support we offer, and we'll have to use the wireless because nobody has a free port in their cube. Our wireless network uses LEAP authentication, and I'm not sure if the Airport Extreme support this. I checked Cisco's web site for vendor support, and Apple isn't listed there. (Or are their Airport cards manufactured by a 3rd party?)

I did a little more searching, and found that the Airport Extreme is compatible with LEAP.

The bad news is that your Mac is NOT compatible with the AirPort Extreme card.

  • Airport Extreme Compatible Wireless N Adapters

I have an Airport Extreme and would like to connect a PC and an Apple Mac G5 PPC to it via wireless N at 5ghz only.
Can any recommend a compatible wireless adapter (PCI or USB)?
    regards
    Phil

I would not recommend the macwireless booster. I got a minibooster from them--the connection between the router and the antennae is very weak--it's kind of on a little leash--and is hard to secure in a single position. Mine broke after the first week of use. I tried to return it to them, they would not replace it and did not refund. They would not own up to a design flaw on this unit, and blamed the customer.

  • Is Airport Extreme compatible with G4 iMac?

I have purchased a Linksys Wireless router. I also have brought home from my office, a Dell PC.
What do I need to get the router to connect to my iMac? Do I need the Airport Extreme Card? Will it work with my PowerPC G4 iMac?

The easiest solution is to cable your iMac's ethernet port to one of the LAN ports on the Linksys router.
If you want the iMac to connect wirelessly to the Linksys wireless router, you will need to install an Airport card into it. Whether or not your "iMac G4" requires the original Airport card (no longer sold by Apple, but available used on EBay) or the Airport Extreme card depends on which exact iMac model you own. See this Apple article: iMac: AirPort- and AirPort Extreme-Ready Models
I'm guessing you probably own one of the first so-called "iMac Flat Panel" models (see this table ) and if so you need an original Airport card.

  • Cards - original airport or airport extreme?

I have tried with variable success to create a network bridge to access my home wireless system - connection is erratic and drops out for prolonged periods.
I am now looking at the airport card option, simple question I hope - how can I tell which card is required, and if I read correctly, can I use the newer type as long as I have osx 10(+).
    Thanks all, Justin

If you have an 800MHz eMac, you can tell the model by the bus speed. Go to System Profiler, (or the Apple menu - About this Mac - More Info).
If your bus speed is 100MHz, you have the original eMac with Airport option.
If your bus speed is 133MHz, you have the ATI eMac with Airport Extreme option.
If your eMac is 1GHz or faster, you have an Airport Extreme-compatible model.

  • I'm looking for a list of printers compatible with Airport Extreme

My existing HP printer is not compatible with Airport Extreme and I want to be able to print from all of my Apple devices. I'm looking for a new photo quality printer / scanner / copier which will work wirelessly with all my devices.

Sorry, but there is no "official" list of printers that Apple provides that indicate which are fully functional with the AirPorts. One "unofficial" list has been maintained by iFelix and may be worth taking a look at.

What printers are compatible with Airport Extreme so my PC, I-Phone and I-pad can all print wirelessly?

  • What printers are compatible with the airport extreme?

What printers are compatible with the airport extreme?

Virtually any wireless printer will work just fine as well as a printer that connects using Ethernet. If you are looking at an All-in-One type of device....all functions like print, scan, copy, maintenance, etc will be supported.
If you are looking at USB devices, Apple does not provide a list of compatible models, so It is difficult to say with certainly what will work and what will not. In general, most USB printers will work.
But....very important....if you are looking at an All-in-One USB device, you need to keep in mind that only the print function will work when the device is connected to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme. Scan, copy, fax, maintenance, etc. will not be supported.
Bottom line...if you are looking at an All-in-One device and you need all of the functions, you need to choose a device that connects using wireless only or Ethernet, not USB.

  • Airport extreme not compatible with xbox live?

    Hello,
Ive had this problem for a long while now and are getting desperate. Basically when i go on xbox live the connection is really really bad. It's not all the time, rarely it will work fine but most of the time the connection is awful.
I know the problem isn't because of the location of the xbox since, the connection is strong in my laptop in that room and we have also used a wifi signal analyzer in the room aswell. It's not because of where i live since i have a friend across the road who's xbox connection works fine. We also have an xbox dowstairs much closer to the router which also has the same problem. Im almost convinced its because of the aiport extreme.
We have an aiport extreme which acts as the router and a netgear which is the modem. The airport extreme has to be in bridge mode or else i get a double nat problem. I think its something to do with the airport extreme and netgear conflicting, if they where i have no idea how to solve it or even if thats the case.
We tried taking the airport extreme out of bridge mode and then turning nat off on the netgear but then we couldn't connect to the internet at all.
Please help me, i really need this problem solved. Its really starting to annoy me.
    Thankyou

Im almost convinced its because of the aiport extreme.
Unfortunately, the key issue here may be that the AirPort Extreme is not on the Xbox list of "compatible" routers.
Xbox LIVE Compatible Hardware - Xbox.com
I know of no way to change that fact.
We have an aiport extreme which acts as the router and a netgear which is the modem.
You do not have a Netgear modem, you have a Netgear modem/router or gateway.  That is why the AirPort must be in Bridge Mode. In Bridge Mode, the AirPort is not acting as a router, it simply passes through the network information from the Netgear gateway.
If you want the AirPort to act as the main router for the network, then the Netgear device must act as a pure, Bridge Mode modem.  Netgear support may be able to tell you if it is possible to configure the device that way.
But, even if it is possible to configure the Netgear this way and the AirPort as the main router, the fact still remains that the AirPort is not listed as being "compatible" with Xbox, so there are no guarantees that this will help.
