Airport extreme error 6753

On my airport extreme router I am getting error 6753.  How do I fix this.  I have reset my router and everything but it will not let me update

This is a communications error  - it can be due to many causes - you have not indicated your OS, AU version, what generation the Extreme is or what kind of reset you did - if you supply this info, you will have more of a chance of getting a response.

  • Airport Utility won't read configuration of Airport Extreme Error -6753

I've been using this Airport Extreme and computer configuration (along with AppleTV2 and Airplay, etc.) without any issues for almost a year now.  Recently I wanted to extend my wireless network by adding an Airport Express, so I tried to reconfigure the Airport Extreme base station in Airport Utility, and that's when all the trouble started...
Problem: When using Airport Utility to try to set up the AirPort Extreme Base Station, Airport Utility recognizes the AE (Amber light), but fails to read the configuration and eventually times out with: "An error occurred while reading the configuration. Make sure your Apple Wi-Fi base station is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-6753)"
The strange thing is, I'm still connected to the internet and able to surf around.  The light on the base station is slowly flashing Amber.  Ever since resetting, the AE has been renamed to its default and is no longer password protected.
I Googled around the interweb looking for solutions, and have already put in a few hours now trying lots of suggested fixes, including:
    Soft reset
    Hard reset
    Factory reset
"Configure Other" workaround in Airport Utility
    Installed 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
Verified and Repaired Disk Permissions in Disk Utility
Trashed SystemConfiguration Folder in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences and restarted
I've tried most of these multiple times and nothing has worked so far.
The launching point for most of my repair attempts is here: http://blogs.computerworld.com/18577/pre_lion_os_x_10_6_8_update_kills_airport_n etworks
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Update: After first posting I tried to set up the Airport Express on its own, going back to exactly the same set up that was working perfectly for a couple years.
Airport Utility behaves exactly the same way and returns the same error in the same way with the AX as it does with its big sister the AE.
I guess this leads me to conclude it's not a hardware problem with either Airport, but rather something to do with OS 10.6.8 and/or Airport Utility 5.5.3.  No closer to a solution, but closer to the cause-- I think...
Any help here would be doubly greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

  • TC will not communicate with Airport Utility error -6753.  Wireless, internet (unsecure), and backup work fine., ,

TC is not communicating with Airport Utility (error -6753).  I do have a flashing amber light.   The wireless (printer, TiVo), internet (unsecure), and backups to Time Capsule work fine.  I have done many hard and soft Resets, but that has not helped.  Airport utility show the TC as amber and but won't let me findout the status of what is causing the problem.

What mode is the TC running in, router or bridged? You can sometimes have issues if the TC is bridged and the network is getting IP in a different subnet.
I would recommend disconnecting the TC from the network and plugging it directly into the Mac via ethernet. You may also need to do a reset if the dhcp is off, as in bridge.
Also note are you pressing the reset for long enough that the led on front starts blinking rapidly.. hold it in for 15sec to be sure.

  • Airport Express error 6753 and IPAD2 "interference"

Airport Express works fine with my pc(Vista) until my brother-in-law comes with his IPAD2 and connects. My pc will connect to the Express(wireless network), but won't go on the internet. Can't get the Airport Utility to communicate either: error 6753. When the IPAD2 leaves everything works fine again. Any ideas? Thanks

I had a hard time to re-configure my Airport Express after an automatic update by Apple (New firmware for Airport Extreme) It just wouldn't work on my Leopard machine. (express was not responding, amber light flashing, unable to fetch configuration settings...etc.) Now, I've downgraded the firmware for the Express again (from 6.3 to 6.1.1) and i used a powerbook with tiger installed to configure the express. Now it all seems to work again. It took a lot of time to figure things out, wich is a shame, but I'm happy to have it all working again. And perhaps this knowledge is usefull to others.

  • Airport Extreme Error message

    Hi!
I recently bought a macbook and the airport extreme base station so I could have a wireless connection in my home. I have hooked it up to my PC and it has a solid green light on it, yet I can do nothing else with it. It just reads "an error occured while trying to access the base station. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again." everytime. How can I get this issue resolved? I have no ideas....

    Hello, TinaKier.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are experiencing an error when setting up your AirPort Extreme.  Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through for this error.
AirPort base station not seen or "An unexpected error occurred" appears in AirPort Utility 6.3
    Cheers,

  • Cant connect to the airport express - error -6753

    Hi,
I saw similar messages already posted but without answers.
I also get this message occasionally while trying using the Airport Extreme Utility from a PC while when I try from the Mac it runs ok.
The Airport Extreme is allowing both to connect to intenet.
What is the meaning of that error?
How can I resolve it in order to use the PC To connect with it?
    Thanks,
    Giuseppe

i too am getting the same error message when trying to connect to my airport extreme via windows installed on my mac. so far haven't figured it out.

  • Quick Silver [866mhz] Mac won't join network [Airport Extreme]: "error"

My roommate is using an older 'quick silver' mac [OS 10.4.11] and is trying to get onto my network which is run through my airport extreme base station. When the password is entered, I get the following message: "an error occurred while joining the network".
Other information: the security chosen for my own Mac Pro is, 'WPA2/personal'. The quick silver doesn't seem to have that as a choice; just plain 'WPA'. Not sure if that's relevant.
Does anyone have any clues as to how to get that Mac to join the network?

Is the Extreme set up as "N" only? Also, Sometimes I've had "dumbdown" the security settings to wpa rather than wpa2 for various devices to work- but I will say MY quicksilver with airport card works
with a 2 year old Airport extreme.
(often i'll just turn the security off and hide the network name) if various older computers with wireless adapters are having trouble.

  • Unable to Connect to Airport - get error -6753

I installed the Airport, set up an wireless network but been unable to connect.
I tried the hard reset described in "Resetting Airport Express" guide.
When I load Airport Utility; I am asked to Rescan with receive an error -6753, no configuration displayed. Attempting to use Configure other has the same result. I am able to use the drop down file menu only, BaseStation and Settings are protected (greyed out).
I have tried to uninstall Airport & Bonjour software to no effect. I don't know my way around the configuration very well.
    Can you help.

I have a Mac and two Windows machines (and most guest machines on my network are Windows). One Windows machine is running Vista, one is running Windows 7 and have also tested with XP. None of the Windows machines will show the AirTunes speaker (Airport Express) options UNLESS my Mac is also turned on. This is totally bizarre and I cannot solve it with any settings... I've tried so many things... latest versions, etc, etc.
To recap, my Mac connects fine, all the time. No Windows machines ever show the dropdown selector in iTunes UNLESS my Mac is on the network. When it's on the network, the Windows machines work with AirTunes just fine.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • When attempting to print with HP P2015 cabled to AirPort Extreme, error message is "Network host (name) is busy".  What's happening?

When attempting to print with an HP P2015 cabled to an AirPort Extreme, the network won't connect to printer.  The Print Que message is "Network host (name) is busy; will retry in (number) seconds."  When I delete the file to be printed, the Print Queue screen says "Printer Ready".
    More Information:
The printer's Queue Name is Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet P2015 Series
The Location is "(my name) AirPort Extreme"
URL is "Hewlett_Packard%20%HP%20LaserJet%20P2015%20Series._pdl-datastream._tcp.local./ ?bidi" (for whatever that means)
    Driver Version is 18.4
Printer Software is HP LaserJet P2015 Series
The printer is listed as a printer on System Preferences/Print&Fax screen
If I connect the printer cable directly to the iMac, the printer works fine.
Any helpful directions would be greatly appreciated.

I came across an Apple article last modified 6/2/08 (Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Base Stations and Time Capsule).  It suggested the old standby, i.e., disconnect the AirPort Extreme Base Station from its power source, turn off the printer, turn on the printer, and reconnect the AirPort to its power source.  It worked.  I guess disconnecting the AirPort cleared out the network host.  Yea.

  • Problems with Comcast (Motorola) modem and Airport Extreme

I have a very strange problem which I have been unable to solve, nor able to find a solution on Apple Support or anywhere else by Googling it.
I switched back to Comcast/Xfinity, hooked up the Motorola surfboard SB5120 modem:
My primary Macbook Pro connects to the Internet, but (and this is bizarre!) the AirPort Extreme is flashing yellow with the errors listed as a) no Internet conncetion, and b) no DNS server
All other Wi-Fi devices are *unable* to connect to the Internet; they are connecting to the home network, but nothing else.
I did a "hard" reset of the AE, and setup the home network from scratch, same problems:  one Macbook connects, nothing else does.
I have power cycled everything multiple times (even unplugging EVERY cable for 30 minutes, then reconnecting), spent the better part of 6 hours trying tor resolve this.
    Any other settings to change?
    In AirPort Utility colors:
    Green for Internet
Flashing Yellow for AirPort Extreme (errors: a) no Internet conncetion, and b) no DNS server)
    Green for AirPort Express
    sub-menus:
    1) Internet, set to "DHCP", nothing listed for IP Address; the Subnet Mask and Router Address have assigned numberes; the last three windows are empty.
    2) Wireless, set to "WPA2 Personal"
    3) Network, set to "Off (Bridge Mode)
Any solutions would be most welcomed - the idiot at Comcast was insultingly unhelpful.  He said that since I was able to successfully connect to the Internet, and that the modem was successfully pinging back to Comcast, that the problem was with the AirPort Extreme.

Many thanks for your reply.  I think number 3) below gets to the crux:
    1) The MBP is on my network, for sure, not a neighbor's.  I'm doing all of this wirelessly, though tested the modem via Ethernet to make sure the modem was working.
    2) I reverted to the Verizon DSL modem, it did a handshake with the AE, and all the computers were successfully connected in seconds.
    3)  Network set to "Off (Bridge Mode)" is how all the computers are successfully connecting via Verizon, so what am I doing wrong when using Comcast?  If I set it to "DHCP and NAT" or "DHCP only" I would have to enter a range of DHCP addresses (Comcast's *might* be 192.168.100.1, but not entirely sure (any help on that - might solve the problem?)
Extreme/Express - that was a mistake.  I'm solely using an Extreme for this setup, though I also have an Express, I've temporarily taken it out of the network to try to resolve the issues.
    Thanks again!

  • Airport Extreme and Vista Error 6753

The airport base station says it is connecting to the nextwork but I can't access any webpages! PLEASE help!

  • Airport Extreme n giving 6753 error when trying to get to confi

Hello guys, I am new to the discussion, so I hope this is not a redundant question. When I try to confi my Airport Extreme n with the Airport Disk utility, I get -6753 error after a long delay. The base station has a green light, it is easily found, but I get this error. I cannot access my USB drive any longer on the Airport Extreme n. I still can see and access my wireless printer, TIVO, etc and can get on the Internet with all computers, I just can't change any confi with the software. Any help or insight into this problem would be appreciated

A Time Capsule at work was giving this exact same error after it would fail to write changes to the device via the AirPort Utility. After a phone call to Apple, they decided the device is "defective," and I should exchange it.
It would work intermittently with the error (over the two days I've messed with it), but it would often disappear from the network, etc. Taking advantage of the exchange seems like a hassle, but also like a no-brainer.

  • AirPort Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi: Error -6753

Got it a few days ago. Plugged it in, and it was working fine. Now, all of a sudden it's not working, neither hardwired or wi-fi. When I try to configure in utility, I get error -6753. What should I do? I'm using a PC.

Work your way through the Apple Troubleshooting Guide to see if that will help get the printer going.
Bear in mind that only the print function will be supported when your device is connected to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme. Scan, copy, fax, maintenance etc. are not supported, so if you need these functions, you will need to connect your all-in-one directly to the computer.
The PC will need to have Bonjour for Windows installed. It's on the CD that came with the AirPort Extreme.
