Airport ID (MAC Address) on MacBook Pro?

Where can I find my Airport ID (MAC Address) on my MacBook Pro? Also on my Time Capsule? I'm getting ready to set up MAC ID access control on my network and need the MAC Addresses for each of my network access devices. Thanks!

I certainly appreciate these replies, but need a little more clarity. I went to Airport Utility > Manual > Summary and found two Airport ID's, identical except for the last digit, suggesting that they're my two Canon MP990 printers which are operating normally in Wi-Fi mode.
no. printer IDs will not show there at all. all that you see there is for the time capsule only. those must be two ids for 2.4 GHz and 5GHz modes which are separate. there should also be an ethernet addresss ther I would think. you might want to verify this by asking on the TC forum.
But when I use my MP990s to print out their MAC ID's, they're completely different from any Airport ID on the Airport Utility Summary.
correct. see above. to find the MAC addresses of the printers just print out test pages on each. that info should be included there.
Then I found an Ethernet ID, which I can't identify with any particular device on the network.
that's the ethernet MAC address of the TC itself.
Maybe it's the MacBook Pro, or maybe the Time Capsule itself.
How can I set up an accurate list of which device has which MAC ID so I can have some control and add or remove as needed. I need accurate ID's for my two MacBook Pro's (the second one will arrive Christmas Eve), iPod Touch (which I'll open on Christmas Eve), the two printers, and (if needed) the Time Capsule itself. Thanks!
we told you two methods of finding MAC addresses of every computer. either use network system preferences or system profiler via apple menu->more info->network
I haven't got an ipod touch (that would be the only kind of ipod with a mac address) but this page explains how to find the MAC address of an ipod touch.

I just bought a new macbook pro with the lion software and can't find my MAC address.

Did you look under the System Preferences > Network > Airport (or Ethernet) > Advanced
The Airport ID or Ethernet ID is your MAC address, depending on which one your using.
You can also use the Terminal

  • How to get mac address in macbook pro

Go to System Preference -> Network -> Advanced -> Hardware

It's also available in System Information, under the Network section.
Hold down option and select System Information from the Apple menu.
Select Network, then the particular service type: Airport, Ethernet, Firewire
Scroll down till you see MAC Address:
You can also reveal it in the Terminal with ifconfig. en0 is usually ethernet, en1 is Airport, but that depends on your configuration.

need help replacing the airport extreme card in my macbook pro. need details on how to do it

Without an airport extreme card, there won't be any Wifi signals going to and from the router (unless you have your machine hooked up via ethernet cable, in which case you don't need an airport card because the signal is transmitted through the cable). Most Macs have a card installed - which Mac do you have?

    Hi bodegakc,
If you have the serial number then please use the below mentioned link to download the product you are looking for .
    CS5.5
Also before installing Please go to Applications-->Utilities--> Adobe installers and if there is any uninstaller for CS5.5 , you can remove it and do a fresh install.
You can also use creative cloud cleaner tool before installing.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • The backup disk image "/Volumes/AirPort Disk-1/Angelo's MacBook Pro.sparsebundle" is already in use.

It worked fine. Now I get the same crap as everyone else lucky me!
The backup disk image “/Volumes/AirPort Disk-1/Angelo’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use.

Hi Bob there's an eject button next to the Time Capsule in Finder. Also when I press the select disk button is it suppose to show 2 disks for Time Capsule because it shows 2. Also when the backup was taking place I opened up Time Machine preferences to watch it doing the backup. Could this also have caused it? Also when I pressed the eject button Time Machine was showing up under the Time Capsule but now it disappeared. I read that if it's mounted it will cause this error.

  • Insteade of using mac os on macbook pro, i wanted to install windows 8 pro on mac book pro, will that void my warranty

insteade of using mac os on macbook pro, i wanted to install windows 8 pro on mac book pro, will that void my warranty

Installing any OS you want on your machine will not void the warranty.  Only making hardware changes other than those listed as "user servicable" by Apple, or negligence will void your warranty.
I will warn you that there might be SMC or EFI udates you will want for your Mac hardware that are only available if you are runnign Mac OS.  For this reason, you may want to keep a small partition on your drive which still has Mac OS installed, or at the very least, keep an external HD around to be able to boot Mac OS.  Additionally, if you are having hardware issues, like a failing DVD writer, you may have a harder time getting Apple to repair it under warranty if you can not reproduce the error under Mac OS.  When I had the DVD writer replaced in my first MacBook Pro, I found the problems trying to write discs under Windows 7, but when the tech could reproduce an error under Mac OS, he quickly accepted it was a hardware problem and not software.  Without reproducing it under Mac OS, he admitted that he might not be able to get them to replace the drive.

How do I transfer music through homesharing from my home computer mac to my macbook pro?

You need a Firewire 800 to 400 adapter or cable or a external USB 2/3 drive (self powered) it can default to the old USB the G5 uses 1 or 2.
    Format the drive info here.

  • Do I need trend smart surfing for mac for the macbook pro

do I need trent smart surfing for mac for my macbook pro?

That's totally up to you. If you have the need to restrict the web sites that can be visited, then a product such as Trend may be worth the cost. If you are only worried about malware from your own surfing, then I consider the price for Trend excessive and unnecessary. The freeware ClamXav and a bit of common sense - about what you download and from where, not falling for scams and fakes that ask you to provide personal information, and in keeping your operating system up to date -  should be sufficient.

    Hello edolillo,
It sounds like you are wanting to use your iMac as a secondary display for your MacBook Pro using a Thunderbolt cable. If your iMac is compatible, you may be able to use Target Display Mode, and this article outlines the requirements for it:

  • Weird: Remote Airport in WDS disappears when MacBook Pro boots up!

I've got two Airport Extreme 802.11n base stations in a WDS setup. The main unit is downstairs connected to our DSL modem/router, and the remote unit is upstairs. The main unit is in bridge mode to allow the DSL modem to distribute DHCP addresses.
There are two laptops in our household: one MacBook, and one MacBook Pro. Both brand new, as are the Airports. The MacBook has had no problems, but when the MBP boots up, it connects to our wireless but gets a self-assigned IP address. Meanwhile, the MB is fine. On the MB, if I run the Airport Utility, the downstairs Airport shows up and the upstairs one does not. Turning the power off/on on the upstairs Airport returns it to normal, and it shows up in the list.
So it seems like when the MPB boots, it somehow causes the Airport upstairs to fall off the network. Maybe just a coincidence, but that's what's happening.
So... 1) Has anything like this happened to others? 2) Is there a way to know which specific Airport device your Mac is connecting to? I'm thinking if we could tell which Airport the MB and MPB connect to, we could see if they connect to the working one downstairs, or the problematic one upstairs.

Others are having similar issues and symptoms, however, I've seen no solutions yet. My Airport Extreme disappears also but access to the internet is unaffected. I can also still access my iMac from my MacBook (iMac still shows up in Finder as a shared volume), however, once the AEBS drops from view I can no longer access printers on the network. (One connected to a networked PC and the other connected to the AEBS.) Both Macs are running Leopard.
Anyway here's a link that others are using to discuss these issues. Good Luck. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1197872

  • Why does it take several attempts for my WiFi/Airport to work on my MacBook Pro?

When I open my computer, I usually pull up Firefox right away, and it works. But since I installed several software updates ("Airport Utility" Version 6.0, "Mac OS X Update Combined" Version 10.7.3, "Thunderbolt Firmware Update" Version 1.0, "MacBook Pro EFI Firmware" Version 2.3, and "MacBook Pro SMC Firmwar Update" Version 1.5), my internet takes forever to become active. Here's the thing, it SHOWS complete connectivity on the Airport, but the internet doesn't work. I have to open up Safari, go to Network Diagnostics (where it says "Your internet connection appears to be working correctly"), then re-select my Network on the Airport's drop-down menu, and re-fresh my internet page 7-8 times, and then the internet just works!
It's not my ISP, because this has happened on 3 different networks (home, school, and at a friend's).
Someone help me! What can I do to fix this? Do I need to un-install one of those updates?
    Thanks!

Yikes! That's a bit scary! OK, I will give it a shot tonight.
Is this a common problem, not having the iPod be recognized when connected? If so, if this the standard protocol for correcting it?
Thanks for your patience and help

  • Internet problem with New Airport Extreme base and new Macbook Pro

So I bought a Airport Extreme base station with my new Macbook pro.
My desktop system uses a DSL modem which is connected to my computer via an ethernet cable. It works flawless. I can also unhook the hard ethernet connection from the desktop and connect it to the Macbook Pro with no problems.
I then connected the ethernet cable from the DSL router to the WAN port on the Airport Base.
I have no problem gettiing the Macbook pro to set itself up on the Airport Network. I can NOT, though, access the internet. I even tried to type in the IP address for the DSL modem while connected to Airport base and can not connect to modem. Does anyone have any advice? Is there a bridging function in the Airport Base that has to be activated?
Another question. If I replace my current DSL Router with a wireless router, do I even need the airport base if all I want to do it connect to the internet with the laptop?
    Thanks,
    Danny

Make sure you perform a complete power recycle when switching network components.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
    - Power-off the DSL modem & AEBS. (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the DSL modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, and your DSL ISP requires PPPoE for connectivity, you will need to set that up on your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) as follows:
Connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, using the AirPort Admin Utility, check these settings:
    Internet tab
    - Connect Using: PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
    - Account Name: <ISP account name>
    - Change password: <ISP password>
    - Always stay connected (checked)
    - WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
Another question. If I replace my current DSL Router with a wireless router, do I even need the airport base if all I want to do it connect to the internet with the laptop?
No, the AEBS will no longer be required.
