Airport Inactive after installing Safari 5
Airport on my MBPro17 was working fine this morning when I downloaded and installed Safari 5. After rebooting my Airport icon went blank and the pull down menu said Airport was inactive. I tried network Diagnostics under System Preferences but I could not activate Airport to work with my Express base station nor with a different router. The Express base station works as my iPad could see and work with my base station/access the Internet.
I was able to get Airport on the MBP17 to work/access through the Expressbase station if I had my Verizon UM150 Aircard running. As soon as I disconnected the Aircard, the Airport access to my Express base station stopped or went inactive.
Could the Airport on my MBP17 gone bad since access to the Internet is possible though an Aircard??
Thanks for any suggestions.
HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Could the Airport on my MBP17 gone bad since access to the Internet is possible though an Aircard??
I doubt it since the problem didn't manifest itself until you installed Safari 5.
Try this.. go to /Library/Preferences/System Configuration.
Move all the files in the System Configuration to the Trash.
Restart your Mac and see if Airport is functional.

You shouldn't have them at all. I don't see anything in the 2 panic reports implicating Safari?
Disconnect all peripherals, only Apple keyboard and mouse and test. Often connected peripherals cause kernel panics. See isolating issues in Mac OS X. for troubleshooting steps.

A new round of Junk Mail after installing Safari Beta 3.0
In the days since installing and religiously using Safari 3.0 beta on my MacBook Pro with 10.4.9, I am seeing a huge increase in Mail being sent to the Junk folder via Automatic Junk mail filtering. I have not changed any Mail settings. This is mail from sites that I get mail from all the time without it going to Junk Mail Folder. So something has changed, drastically.
I do have the mail Junk filter set to trust my ISP Junk Mail headings (Earthlink). I will turn it off and see if that changes anything. Perhaps Earthlink is doing something new.
But if not Earthlink, I can only wonder if anything changed due to Safari 3.0 install.
Anyone else having this type of new problem?
MacBook Pro 15 inch Mac OS X (10.4.9)I've had exactly the same problem with junk mail after installing Safari 3. No other recent changes.
So far, retraining on received e-mails does not seem to be taking; good e-mails keep going into junk folder.

Airport problems after installing 10.5.6
Airport on my MBP (2.4GHz, pre-"unibody") will no longer connect to my home wireless network (set up with WEP) after installing 10.5.6. It was flawless on all prior versions (and my 10.4 machine still connects fine).
I installed with the "combo" updater (and I checked the SHA1 hash beforehand so the download is not corrupted).Might be having the same problem. On a WPA2 Network, just reset my router and am still not getting a good internet connection. The iMac is able to join the network with the no problem, and I seem to be pseudo-connected to the internet because iChat will connect and I just got a new email, but Safari won't load anything at all. The oddest thing though, is that my PowerBook which is still running Tiger is behaving the exact same way since the update to the iMac. A PC that's on the same network via Ethernet connection off the router is connected at full speed. Any clue as to what might be causing this?

After installing Safari 4, Lost my dock and can't open files.
Hey guys. I've had my Ibookg4 around 5 years, never really had a problem with until today.
I installed Safari 4, and after installation it told me to restart, which I did. After it had restarted, I got to my desktop but I had lost my dock, and I can't open any of my applework files, (the application "AppleWorks" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "-<AppleWorks><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_CarbonCore>").
Any solutions? Thanks.Hello GarrrettXmas,
Welcome to the Apple Discussions...
Try running "Repair Permissions" from Disk Utilities.
Have you tried opening AppleWorks from the Applications folder?
If the Program opens from the Apps folder then try trashing the
com.apple.dock.plist located in /User/Library -

Error connecting to Version Cue after installing Safari update 3.1.1!
I'm having trouble restarting the Version Cue server. It was running just fine before my Mac (OSX 10.4.11) restarted after installing the Safari 3.1.1 update this morning. This is the error message I receive when attempting to start VC:
Version Cue CS3 could not be started.
Please check the Version Cue CS3 logs.
So I checked the logs by browsing through the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe VersionCue/Server/logs
Below, please find the chunk of information from the log where the problem began. I'm not saavy at all with this - but I do see in the log something about mDNS and after dealing with this problem all morning, I caught a bit of talk in other forums about this particular Safari update changing your DNS settings. Is this related? If it is, what should I do? If it isn't, what should I do?

Can't connect to airport extreme after installing 10.10
After installing OS X 10.10 WiFi connection with Airport Extreme drops out a couple of different ways. Log in fails, Says Airport extreme is not there (2ft away), drops data connection with all WiFi bars showing.
Drops data connection mid data transfer. Then after sever power recycles of the MacBook Pro connection comes back.
Light on Airport Extreme is blinking. This iMac is also connected passing data via the same Airport extreme while the MacBook Pro is having the above experiences.
Anyone experiencing WiFi issues since 10.10?You can download the Apple Airport Utility directly from Apple:

Applications won't launch after Installing Safari 3
I recently tried to download and install Safari 3 on Mac OS 10.3.9. After installation, Safari would not launch and neither will Mail. I have since gone back to Safari 1.3.2 but the Mail application still will not launch.
I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks so much!Hi gelatian1
your error message is actually very simple - but due to the long file paths, seems complex...
a file named webcore, located in
/System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/WebCore.framew ork/Versions/A/
is telling your mac to find something in a file named javascriptcore which is located in
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaScriptCore.framework/Versions/A/
and it can't find what it's looking for....because one or other of the files ( never known it to be both ) is corrupted somehow. ( note, this might not be the only problem you have, but it's the one your error refers to... )
Both these files are contained in the safari 3.1 update package.
soooo, you can either...
1: try downloading the diskimage of Safari 3.1 update for leopard & running it again, hoping that fixes things.
2: try running softwareupdate from the Terminal ( I believe that this bypasses the need for the files which stop you from running Software update normally ) . softwareupdate -l then enter will give a list of the updates that Apple think you need....... softwareupdate -i -a installs all updates that Apple think you need.
3: identify which of the files I first mentioned is at fault & perhaps use Pacifist to extract it from the update package & then place the damaged file manually. hoping that it's the only one.... I don't know if Pacifist works with Leopard update packages... I usually use something called UnPkg, which doesn't recognise the safari 3.1 Leopard package I downloaded , edit - I tried Pacifist & that wouldn't work either for me
Think I'd try 1: first; keeping the dmg in case you need it again.
This applies for you, running Leopard - anyone with 10.3.9 should ignore the above. -
Computer wont reboot after installing safari 4.0.3
I downloaded and installed Safari 4.0.3 my MacBook Pro and when I restarted my computer it doesn't get passed the blue screen.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD, but saves all your files and gives a new OS...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.
If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. -
Bluetooth inactive after installing mountain lion - your computer restarted because of a problem
Good day
I read up on forums, and I think my reboot error is due to my bluetooth that is inactive, which happened after installing Mountain Lion
My Bluetooth worked before under Snow Leopard
I have deleted the file under library to no avail
I have rebooted with cmd option P R to no avail
I have repaired permissions and this is the only message that pops up, and bluetooth still does not work after reboot.
Repairing permissions for “Macintosh HD”

Comp won't boot after installing Safari 4
After installing the new safari 4 on my Powermac G5, you have to restart the comp. Help... now I only get a grey screen! safe mode didn't work... what to do?
Message was edited by: MarcoKoolenI also had this problem when I installed Safari 4 update this morning. After reboot system startup freezed just before showing login window.
After some research I discovered that the problem was a missing file:
/System/Library/Frameworks/QuartzCore.framework/Versions/A/QuartzCore
What I did was creating a soft link to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Safari.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/Quartz Core.framework/Versions/A/QuartzCore
The command was:
ln -s /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Safari.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/Quartz Core.framework/Versions/A/QuartzCore /System/Library/Frameworks/QuartzCore.framework/Versions/A/
Maybe this will help someone. -
I lost my internet connection after installing Safari 5.1.2.
iMac 20" running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 After allowing Software Update to install the newest version of Safari , 5.1.2, I no longer have connection through Safari, Mail or Software Update. The problem is not with the ISP as a laptop plugged into the same cable works fine. Would the update have changed any settings in Network preferences?

You can use Lion Recovery to reinstall apps. -
Beach Balls and freezes after installing Safari 3.1 and security update
Hi,
I just recently installed the safari 3.1 update and the security update. My machine is an iMac 2.4 GHz with 10.5.2. Prior to this, the machine only had one freeze (had to power off) which happened a about a month back. Since the update, 2 days ago, the machine seems to show the beach ball more often. On one specific occasion (happened when my son was using it), the Chess game was running, and the mouse cursor turned into a beach ball and everything froze - can only move the mouse cursor/beach ball but nothing else responded. Even hitting the caps lock key took minutes before the caps lock light came on. Me being a windows user for a long time, I was blindly trying to find the keyboard equivalent of ctrl-alt-del to pull up a process list of some kind so that I can kill the offending app. But was not successful, hence I had to power off.
On another occasion, and this time, it happened to me - the beach ball came up as I was using safari. I could use other stuff in the OS, but any time I brought the cursor over safari, it would turn into a beach ball. After waiting a few minutes and clicking away on the safari window, the beach ball turned into a finger cursor when I clicked on the http address window - and safari started to work like normal again.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had experiences similar to this and if there are any steps I can take to prevent this again.
Thanks in advance.Welcome to the Apple forums:
Did you perform both updates at the same time? I usually recommend doing them one-at-a-time, so if anything happens you know which update caused the problem.
I especially never do a system update with any other update. I always do that one last, and wait for the dust to settle by reading this board first.
You should run DU and check the HD and repair permissions. That's a start. -
Mail Crashes after installing Safari 3 Beta and
Last night (technically early this morning) I installed these three things at the same time:
Safari 3 Beta
Security Update 2007-006 (Universal)
Mac OS X Update (Intel)
Once I restarted my Mail.app would not launch. It bounces a single time and that is all.
Then I uninstalled the Safari 3 Beta using the "Safari3BetaUninstall.pkg" that came with the installer. That didn't solve the problem.
Since then after reading:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1007946&tstart=0
I downloaded Font Finagler and cleared my font cache. Restarted, no dice.
Then I reset my PRAM. Restarted, no dice.
Then I restarted in Safe Boot, and tried to launch Mail. No dice.
Then verfied disk permissions both while running osx from my hard drive and from the install cd. Both times it had some similar permssion errors that were fixed.
I also "verified disk" using disk utility from the osx install cd. It said it was fine.
Finally I tried reinstalling Mail and Safari from the "optional install" application on the osx cd. Still nothing.
Here is my crash log (It's actually longer than this... but it's just a repeat this information every single time I tried starting the application):

After reading what I just typed I tried launching ichat will not launch either. One bounce and that's it.
Please help me.When I followed your path it was not MSN IM it was iChat.
I did run disk permissions after I installed 10.4.10. It found errors and corrected them.
So I followed Max's video tutorial and it all went swimmingly except it would not copy a subfolder entitled "versions." It said that "versions could not be replaced because it was in use"
Versions was in two places in the Archive folder I stripped from the Safari 3 Beta install package:
Archive/System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions
and
Archive/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/JavaScriptGlue.framework/Versions
I've also found versions folders all over my computer...
I replaced and/or copied all the folders over from Max's tutorial except the versions folders.
Mail and iChat still do not work. I'm a little nervous to restart.
