Airport Install

I upgraded my macbook pro from tiger to leopard and the airport software got corrupted. Can I have the link to the airport client install software.
Thanks
Chris

Did you actually perform an upgrade from Tiger or a complete fresh install, and then, used Migration Assistant to move your user profile from a backup? If it was a fresh install, I would log on with the Administrator account and see if the AirPort issues are still there. If, on the other hand, you just did an upgrade, then it is very possible that something didn't installed properly or is corrupted. Unfortunately, one of the major drawbacks of upgrading major OS versions.

what should I do? I try to reinstall once then show same

Is your work computer a Mac with a firewire port?
If so, you could connect your Mac in target disk mode to the work Mac. Your hard drive will appear on the desktop of the other Mac, and you can install 10.6 to that drive.

  • Should have gotten AirPort installed when I bought, but...

there was no reason to wireless network at the time. Now there is and I don't know what I have to buy and install in order to go Wi-Fi with my G5 tower. Help?!?

    Hi
If you have any but the last generation of dual 2.0GHz PowerMac G5s (and your profile saying 10.3 seems to confirm this), you can use the Airport Extreme card for sale on the Apple Store.
If you're not sure, check your System Profiler - if you have anything but "PowerMac11,2" in your Machine ID, you can use that card.

  • Airport Installed But No Signal

Hi, I'm having connection issues with the original airport card in my imac. It previously worked and now is not. Perhaps you can help. Here's my troubleshooting process thus far:
    1. Airport card is inserted securely and antenna is connected.
    2. Airport status is greyed out in task bar. Internet Connect shows absolutely no signal strength.
    3. My iBook G4 sits next to iMac and is able to connect to my router as well as detect other networks.
    4. PRAM has been reset. Disk permissions have been verified and repaired.
    5. For a brief second, the airport icon in task bar detected three neighbouring networks, but not mine. However this was very brief and no networks show up now.
    6. I had both computers connected previously via ethernet. Now each computer is unable to access the other's drop box. I'm also only able to connect as a "guest."
    7. I tried to create a wireless network between both computers to no avail. However, when I created a network on the iMac, signal strength suddenly went to full.
I think that's about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Per your numbering...
    (1) Since the time it worked previously, have the card and adapter been removed? Or have they been installed in the iMac and not touched since that time?
    (2) Make sure you do not have +Internet Sharing+ (set to share Ethernet using AirPort) enabled. Actually, turn OFF +Internet Sharing+ in System Preferences Sharing pane for now. Disconnect anything connected to the Ethernet port. In System Preferences Network pane, Show *Network Port Configurations* and make sure AirPort is at the top of the list. You may also want to turn off the services you do not use for networking, such as FireWire and Internal Modem. If you made any changes, be sure to click +Apply Now+, then restart.
    (4) Did you also try reseting the PMU. This is the procedure
    http://mrjcd.com/junk/PMU.jpg
If you have a voltmeter, check the PRAM battery if possible. If you disconnect the iMac from power for a while, that probably serves the purpose of the PMU reset as well. When the iMac is reconnected to power and stared up, do not connect any peripheral (USB/FireWire) devices, except standard keyboard and mouse. Try the AirPort connection again.
Also, try starting up in Safe Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
This will run some maintenance during startup. It will also start up with only Apple's essential system extensions and processes running; try using the AirPort connection again in Safe Mode.
    (6) That may be an unrelated problem. Can the iMac still access the Internet using a wired Ethernet connection?
    (7) If the iMac can still connect to the Internet using Ethernet, what happens when you go to System Preferences Sharing pane +Internet Sharing+ tab and turn ON +Internet Sharing+ ? Set it to +Share your connection from *Built-in Ethernet* To computers using AirPort+. Then, try to use your iBook's AirPort to access this wireless network created by the iMac. Does that work?

  • "No Airport Installed" but it came with Macbook & has worked for 1.5 yrs?!

I am not sure if this is Airport Express? It came w/my Macbook, already installed.
It has worked fine w/ no problems till this morning. Was working fine last night. Did nothing but turn it off last night, this morning turned it on, & says no internet connection. Clicking on Airport icon up by clock says only "No AirPort Card Installed."
Followed troubleshooting on this site, which lead me to the Apple Menu, About This Mac, More Info, Network: Airport Card: "No information found." Troubleshooting says this means I need a new Airport Card.
Any idea why this happened? $$ is super short right now- are there any other possible solutions? How much is a new Airport Card going to run me?

I have had the same problem!
Within the 1 year warranty I took my MacBook Air into the store I bought it in as I could not connect to the net due to "No airport card installed" Strangely, when instore, it suddenly worked!
A friend of mine bought a new Mac and I was lucky enough to be given her old IMac, and so did not use my MacAir for a while, when I did, and passed the warranty date, I had the same problem.
It recently reared to life all by itself, without doing anthing. But died again after about a week. I now have too tried all the suggested fixes I can find - nothing works.
This is clearly a widespread problem. You only need search "No airport card installed" and thousands of forums come up. Is anyone from Apple reading these forums? Surely if this is an Apple default customers should be entitled to a replacement, or at the very least a lasting solution to the problem?
I live in Dubai, and unfortunately there is no Apple store here, and no information on this site provides any help as far as support goes for the Middle East!
I am utterly disappointed. My Mac has harldy been touched, and is a rather pricey decoration!
*Try resetting your PRAM and NVRAM - this seems to have worked for some people.*

If the seller is respectable, and you bought it only two weeks ago, he should be willing to give you some satisfaction if you can't get it working right yourself. He should also have provided you with the original installation disks (they would be old, but they would include things like Apple Hardware Test which would be useful in this situation).
Since your Mini is running Lion, start up using the Recovery Partition. Do this by holding Command-R on your keyboard during boot or restart.
Here is information about Lion Internet Recovery, which you might also try:

  • No Airport Installed

I received my MacBook yesterday and worked with it all afternoon. This morning when I went to start work I had quite a few problems to deal with. The biggest being that it didn't recognize any airport being installed. When I brought up Airpot in my Network preferences the status says "No Airport Hardware Found" It worked fine yesterday.
I think I may have a dud MacBook. The other problems I've seen is that ichat hangs when opening a video chat for about 60 seconds, same when I close the chat. The entourage db was corrupted last night and I also cannot open any office applications.
I've got my appointment with the Genius bar tomorrow morning to see if they can swap it out.

Ive had the same issue for months now. was yours fixed or replaced?

  • IBook noise after AirPort install

Since installing an AirPort card, when my iBook is in sleep mode, every 15 seconds or so it makes the noise it makes when it's waking up from sleep. This happens even when AirPort is off. Has anyone ever head of this?
    iBook G3   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
No, I've never heard of this. You may want to:
    a. Make sure that your keyboard is seated properly,
and, if that doesn't take care of the problem,
    b. Try reseating the AirPort Card.
Let us know how things go.

  • Leopard preventing AirPort install?

I just completed an archive & install of Leopard (it didn't work to do a normal upgrade) and now I am unable to get my Airport Express set up. The setup disc tells me that the OS isn't supported. Any suggestions?

Me too!! urrrgggghhhh.. I just bought leopard and airport express and cant get them to work together! HELP!!!!

  • Airport Install Software

I just bought a new MacBook and installed the Leopard OS. When I try to install the Airport Express software via the Airport Disk, I get so far as "Destination Select" in the setup wizard where it gives me an error message for the Macintosh HD saying: "You cannot install Airport on this volume. The version of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported". Can someone help me?

    That isn't solving my problem.
When I launch Airport Utility, the program tells me it's "Discovering base stations," and I have to wait a few seconds.
Eventually, it tells me this: Airport Utility was unable to find any Airport base stations. Please make sure the airport base station you want to set up is plugged in and in range of your computer, and then click rescan to try again.
Of course, my Airport Extreme is plugged in into the power outlet, on, connected a live ethernet connection, and running with a green light.
But here's my situation: I set up a wireless network with this Airport via a computer which I sold a week ago. The moment the computer left--with its software and all that--the wireless network disappeared. It doesn't seem to exist at all anymore.
In short, I have no idea how to communicate with my Airport, and Airport Utility on this new computer doesn't seem equipped to help me.

  • Airport install issues

Hi. New to discussions, and very new to Apple. Using my partner's iMac and trying to install Time Machine. We are running Mavericks 10.9.2 and when I try to install Airport v5.5.1 via the Time Machine supplied disc, I get an error saying "Airport Utility can't be installed on this disk. The version of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported". Is there an issue with Mavericks and not being backwards compatible with older versions of Airport? I believe if i could just install Airport initially I could then update it to the latest version 6.3 or whatever it is.
    Any tips please?

There is no need.. the utility is built in. As is Time Machine.
All you need to do is find it.
Open finder and in the search type airport utility.
The one that is in applications (should be uitliities folder under that but who knows with Mavericks).. just double click on it.
    Voila.. the airport utility

  • Mac Mini 1.25 G4  NO Airport installed

    Kind Greeting,
I am a total tech novice, so please be kind. I just got a great deal on a very well taken care of original mac mini. The gentlemen even installed Leopard 10.5.6 and gave me disc. Is it possible for me to install airport myself? If so what would I have to purchase?
We have a clear wireless modem and a belkin wireless router.
The Mac mini is to go in the kids play room for them so I could move the modem, phone base etc in there but I'd rather just have it connect wirelessly(even a word?)
I am working on my G$ IBook listening to my ipod shuffle. I swear in my next life I'll be able to buy all the apple products brand new, the year they come out.

    Hi-
Ok- you have a couple of choices.
If you want your Mini to be able to access the wireless network in the house, you CAN install an internal Airport card, OR you can purchase a USB wireless access device.
Option one involves opening your mac mini with a sharpened putty knife, and is not for the squeemish. It will also involve spending approximately $50 on the Apple airport card, assuming you are able to find one online.
    Pictures are here...
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-Mac-mini-PowerPC-AirPort-Extreme-C ard/271/1
Option two just involves plugging in a stick-like device into one of the USB ports at the back of the mini.
For example, you can buy this for $40
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/MXP802NU2C/
I strongly recommend option 2. It will save you at least 10 dollars, and a lot of potential frustration!

  • Macbook pro no airport installed

Hi all i have problem in my macbook pro cannot detect airport even i already reinstalled my OSX leopard...anybody can help me regarding this issue.

I should clarify ... I had this same problem on the old drive but only after restarting from boot camp. But an old platter hard drive is simply too slow to bother with boot camp for my needs, so I just went back to OS X only.
It hasn't been an issue since last Christmas when I first noticed it. Since then, I've had every single part of this Macbook Pro replaced except for the battery, battery cover, and back panel plate. Some components were replaced multiple times. But it's not been a problem because I haven't been using boot camp.
I really don't see how it could be a hardware issue when it only happens during restarts, not during cold boots ... and only happens going from Windows to OS X, not the other way. Could be something in a hardware check from cold boot that doesn't happen on a soft reset.
Other people seem to be having issues with their airport cards not being recognized for a variety of reasons. I suspect it's something an update will cure. Or it'll just be like a variety of other minor bugs which Apple hasn't bothered to fix yet (like the keyboard backlight not switching off under bootcamp, etc).
Thanks for testing it out on your systems. Was just curious if anyone else had seen the problem.

  • Computer shows no Airport installed

Did a hard restart about an hour ago and when OS rebooted, I had no Airport. Attempt to troubleshoot through System Preferences revealed that hardware is no longer found.
    Any suggestions?

  • Can I install an extra router when using an airport?

I have an airport installed downstairs in my house but the signal keeps dropping in some part upstairs.  Can I instal an extra router upstairs or another airport?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Correct. You can connect another AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule to extend the network from the actual AirPort station. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4145?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
