Airport Issues (Again!)

It was last week when I posted about how my Mac Mini had recently started dropping the wireless connection when the signal is always full strength.
This is the post I posted last week:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4944604#4944604
Yes I did change the wireless channel and that has helped all the systems running off the wireless as there must have been some interference. Now there's none and this is evident on every other machine except the Mac Mini. And may I point out that even with the slight interference before the Mac Mini didn't totally drop the connection and it all worked reasonably fine.
I have come to the conclusion now that it is definately my Mac Mini. Also what is strange is that when I turn the PS3 on in the same room the Mac Mini's internet kicks into life.
Its a hard and complicated issue I've got going here. Please help.

Could you tell us more about how close other routers are to your computers?
And what continent do you live on? (Available channels are slightly different in NA and Europe.)
If you are in the US or Canada, I'd suggest dropping to channel 3 or 2.
Keep in mind that wireless interference can be coming from someone nearby who bought a new 2.4GHz cordless phone -- or from a router that doesn't advertise it's name. So it is impossible to know all sources of interference, and the best you can do is try some different channels. Channels overlap, and you have to be 3 channel numbers apart to avoid completely interference. In the US (at least) Channel 1 runs at lower power than the other channels -- so range will be less, which can be good or bad, depending on your situation.

  • Airport issues again...... but diferent I think.

I've been trawling through the posts regarding the problems with the airport reception with the new 2CD's, but can't pin this down.
I can connect perfectly via ethernet with my C2D and I have a Powerbook next to it with full wireless Airport reception from my Belkin Wireless G Router but the 2CD just won't connect via Airport.
I've had the C2D working last week with a internet cafe's wireless signal, but I just get greyed out Airport icon with the Belkin now.
When I click the Airport icon on the menu bar it takes an unusually long time 3 seconds), to open the drop down menu, then when I click the Belkin signal (yes it does see it)...... it just pops up and says there is a "problem joining the Airport network".
    I'd really appreciate any assistance.
    Thanks

I'm afraid I don't have any answers but I can tell you that I have a belkin router and am having exactly the same problem as you, right down to the unusually long pause when trying to connect.
There is a similar thread open about it here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=741101&tstart=0 , although as yet there don't seem to be any ways to fix it.

  • MBP Santa Rosa Airport Issues w/ Leopard

    Hi everyone,
I've noticed a few "quirks" since upgrading to Leopard. Whenever my Macbook Pro (Santa Rosa, 2.4 GHz, 17", 4GB RAM) is searching for a wireless network to join, the system becomes completely unresponsive. The mouse pointer stutters and jumps around the screen and it's impossible to precisely control its movement. When I can finally manage to click on the Airport icon in the menu bar and select the appropriate network to join, the problems stop as soon as a connection to a wireless network is established. It only happens when the system is searching for a Network. I should mention that it does this when I am at work (where I connect via 802.1x and TTLS) and at home (where I connect via an Airport Express Router).
Also, my computer no longer automatically connects to my work network (it does at home, though) after a restart or waking from sleep). I have my MBP set to prompt me for a password when it wakes from sleep, but it's near next to impossible to enter in the password because the system hangs so badly as it tries to establish a network connection. Of course, it doesn't connect unless I manage to click the Airport icon and specify the network I wish to join. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
All of this is a little frustrating since the latest updates to Airport in Tiger fixed all of the connection issues I had had previously with my MBP. When I first bought the machine I had many issues with network connections (as did many thousands of others who bought this model). I was wondering if other MBP Santa Rosa owners have observed similar behavior since upgrading to Leopard, and if so, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this issue?
I should also mention that my Mac Mini C2D 1.83GHz (latest model) has no such issues so I think this is something that is still linked to this particular model of MBP.
    Many thanks!

I am moving this over here, from the boot camp section. Hopefully this is more the location that this needs to be in. Well, my problem is not as extreme as some, but still an annoyance. I installed Leopard the first day, and immediately had HUGE airport issues. The computer would lose my hub. I run an Airport Extreme with an Express as a WDS. The computer would see the express, but lose the extreme completely. So no internet. If I messed with it long enough, I could get the computer to recognize the extreme, but as soon as the computer went to sleep, it would lose it again. I installed the keychain update, and the situation didn't get much better. Most of the time I get the "You are not connected to the Internet" error in Safari, and when I run network diagnostics the computer "finds" the internet again, and I get a "Network configuration change detected" message and all my lights go green.
After I installed the Keychain update, I repaired disk permissions. Any ideas?

  • Airport issues, and "home" folder question

I'm having a problem with airport utility on my Macbook pro with OSX 10.5.3. It somehow turns itself off, and cannot be turned back on unless, the computer is restarted. Once restarted, it only stays on for a few minutes and then is turned off again. I have a time capsule, and when time machine attempts to back up, it seems to trigger it. However, even with time machine turned off, it still gets turned off. I took it to a genius bar, and the guy there seemed to think making a new account would fix it, but it didn't. It actually created another problem. He deleted my old account but saved the "home" folder. When I log into my new account, I can't access any of my music, documents, photos, etc. How do I get stuff from the saved home folder, to my new home folder???

Hey Thanks for your replies. The airport issue is being resolved. I was on the phone with applecare, and the problem was actually something with the power supply. For some reason it wasn't supplying power (or enough power) to the airport card, and that is why it would shut itself off and not turn back on. So it is being serviced right now.

  • Weird airport issue

i'm not quite sure if this is my computer or the network i'm using, but i'm having some weird erratic airport issues. i am on a wireless network at my university, and it usually works just fine. however, a few weeks ago it sporadically started to drop the connection (making my internet slow to non-functional, 1 or 2 bars of signal). the thing that's weird about all of this is that when this happens and i click on "open network preferences", the internet then picks back up without me doing anything further than opening the preferences window. it only lasts a minute, but every time i open the network preferences it somehow jump-starts my internet again (making me think that it's possibly my computer, not just the network). this is probably a stupid question, but i am not entirely savvy with the inner workings of my macbook. i have a 15" macbook pro, and i got it around march of 2008.

Well I tried changing it but to no avail.....
Another piece of info. It's not running N it's running b/g.

  • Anyone with a 17" MBP C2D having AirPort issues?

Most of the reports I've seen of people having issues with their MBP C2D and AirPort have the 15" MBP C2D (myself included.)
Has anyone with the 17" MBP C2D had issues, or is it isolated to the 15"?

    Hi William
I had a 2.33 15"MBP 2.33and had no probelm with the airport reception (until security update 2006-007 was installed - I erased and reinstalled to get rid of the update and my machine went back to working fine.) Apple have released an update for Airport on the 15". So using software update the machine installed the airport update first, then installed security update 2006-007. Airport worked great.
Due to an excessively grainy display, my reseller allowed me to return the 15" and upgrade it to the 17". Again, this machine has had absolutely no airport issues. Connects full signal to whatever network I have attempted to connect to without issue.
So, I have had both a 15" and a 17", neither of them have had any airport issues, other than the one mentioned above in regards security update 2006-007 on the 15", but Apple did launch an Airport update which fixed this.

  • AOL iTunes Login Issue AGAIN?!

As with many other people, I have experienced a problem over the years (since 2006ish) where iTunes won't recognize my AOL login information -- and yes, my screen name and password are both absolutely correct. I can even log in to AOL directly to get my e-mail and use AOL IM. When I punch in my AOL login info, iTunes keeps insisting that my AOL password is incorrect and advises in the error prompt to call AOL at some 800-number to change my password. I wish that this problem were fixable by changing one's password and/or calling AOL -- many of us have tried in the past, and it's a futile attempt.
Over the years, it has been established that it's definitely an issue from Apple's end, not AOL's.
As of last night, I'm having this same problem again. In the past two days, the problem seems to happen sporadically -- sometimes I can login briefly, but I can't login most of the time. This afternoon, I checked the forums to see if anyone else was experiencing this issue again, but I didn't see any recent complaints. However, I did look back in the forums at posts from previous years, and I've tried many of the old fixes that previously solved my issue -- making sure my iTunes is updated, trying to completely sign out, shutting down my computer, etc. I recall some kind of solution that involved updating one's credit card info of sorts -- but I couldn't find the precise instructions for that in the forums (if anyone has this info, please post below so I can try it). I'm really, REALLY frustrated to see this issue occurring again with iTunes, and I can't fathom why on earth logging into iTunes through my AOL account continues to be an issue after so many years.
Is anyone else having this problem right now (or recently)? If so, any ideas for a fix this time around? I have not e-mailed Apple yet, but I'm hoping maybe someone else here has done so already since it often takes a very long time to hear back from them. If you have heard from Apple, what have they advised?
Also, if you could post a direct Apple e-mail address for me to "complain" to and get tech help for this sort of issue, that would be really helpful since I could not find it.
I use iTunes for both work and play, and I really have things that I need to access and/or download. Sigh, not fair to paying customers to have this problem happen so many times over the years. There should be a compensation clause in the TOS that makes Apple give something like $50 or more (either cash/credit, fee based upon amount of pain/suffering, missed work deadlines, missing relaxation time, etc.) for each day one's account is not working due to issues caused by Apple -- I can dream, can't I, lol?!?!
Let's hope this issue resolves itself ASAP!! Thanks to all who post/reply below in advance -- I really appreciate your help/comments!
    Marsha
P.S. If need be, I would be happy to attach my iTunes screenshots that show the problem . . . but anyone who has used AOL to sign into iTunes will likely know exactly what I'm talking about without seeing screenshots!

I'm sorry to hear you're having the same problem, Dolphin -- but at least I'm not crazy!
The last few times this happened from 2006-2010, there were dozens of posts here in the forums with other AOL users trying to help each other come to a solution -- and unfortunately, there was never one solid fix. Since nobody posted with complaints about this problem recently, I went digging through the old suggested fixes (some of which cleared up the issue in the past), but they have not worked. I thought maybe the problem may be with my iTunes on my laptop, so today I tried to login using my iPad and iPhone . . . same issue. It's definitely my iTunes account. I can still get into my AOL e-mail account without a problem. I'm SO frustrated.
I'm not sure what purpose you use iTunes for, but you're amazing if you're able to patiently wait for the problem to resolve itself -- apparently I'm not as patient as I thought, lol!!! To name a few examples, I use iTunes various services (including podcasts, apps, iTunes U, music, TV documentaries, etc.) for personal recreation, professional development, and for medical information, etc. If it were just for myself, I'd try to wait a bit longer . . . but when it's for professional endeavors, waiting isn't a feasible option!
Dolphin, if you happen to find a resolution, please post here again -- I'd really appreciate it! Do you happen to have a direct e-mail address to get technical support from Apple for this type of problem? I was looking on their support website, but I could not find an e-mail address other than one for questions about purchases. They rarely look at this community support website, so it's unlikely that they'll see this thread I made. However, if I can get an e-mail address, then I'd be able to send them the link to this thread I created that describes the issue. If you e-mail Apple, you can also send them the link to this page if it will be helpful to you since I described the nature of the problem.
    Thanks SO much for posting!

    Apple,
What really upsets me the most, aside from not being able to get work done as I described above, is all of the deals and promotions I have missed out on (and will still miss until this problem gets resolved) in the time I haven't been able to use iTunes. Not to sound like a sob story, but I think Apple needs to understand how their repeated technical issues with this AOL login thing happening so many times since 2006 impacts people's lives. I have a permanent disability and medical issues from an accident I had back in 2003. I have no income (I got hand-me-down iDevices from great friends when they upgraded), and I can't easily get out of my home to have a good time -- so I truly rely on finding freebies and deals on iTunes to sustain my recreational fun (I even use some apps as part of my physical/cognitive therapy regimen!), and I'm very thankful when Apple and others make special offers so I can have my fun! I missed out on getting a whole bunch of apps I wanted while they were free -- there was, perhaps, $30-$35 worth of apps that I could have had through FreeAppADay.com, free promotions from individual developers, and through other free app promoters like OpenFeint, etc. Plus, I also missed other free promotions for songs, music videos, TV shows, etc. that Apple, musicians, music festivals (ie: Lollapalooza, etc.), and companies offer by giving redemption codes and/or can be downloaded without a code (if featured by Apple directly) -- I also estimate maybe $40 bucks worth of stuff I missed out on because the offers have already expired. So I've already lost out on roughly $75 worth of stuff, plus more for every other deal I'll miss until Apple can fix this problem. I never ask for anything, but it would be a really nice gesture and appropriate if Apple gave me a gift card to cover the cost of the $75 I've missed (plus a bit more $ for each additional day until they resolve my issue) . . . but alas, I'm dreaming cause I doubt they could do this in reality.
So please, Apple, come to my rescue! I need to access my downloaded stuff on my laptop, and I need to download a heap of media from iTunes on a daily basis for my volunteer work, personal education, for fun, for my medical condition -- and SO much more! I do make purchases on iTunes and from the Apple Store when I get money gifts from friends for birthdays and such, so I am a paying customer like any other person. Please Apple, help me . . . and anyone else with this problem. Find a fix ASAP . . . but please work on a permanent solution so this problem never happens to anyone else using an AOL login. It's aggravating, inconvenient, and you'll lose customers this way. I love iTunes and my iDevices, and I want to be able to use and enjoy them.
I'm sorry if I'm ranting a bit, but I'm upset/frustrated and want you to understand how this can affect me and others experiencing this problem.
Please contact me at my AOL e-mail address if I can give you any information that will help you help me, and thanks for your help in this matter!

  • Airport Issue After Waking From Sleep (White Unibody MacBook)

Hi all. On my new white unibody MacBook I have an Airport issue that always occurs after I wake the MacBook from sleep. I'm wondering if any of you have a similar issue and/or might not how to solve it.
Basically, when I wake the MacBook from sleep, it connects to my wireless network (and to whichever network I happen to be using at the time). A few seconds later, it will drop the connection, an exclamation mark will appear on top of the Airport icon on the menu bar, and when I click on the icon I see "Alert: No Internet Connection."
Then, if I just sit and wait, eventually Airport will connect to the network. But I have to wait -- selecting the network from the available list or turning Airport off and on doesn't help. And sometimes waiting isn't enough -- I sometimes have to go to "Create Network ..." and start all over to get a connection.
I've upgraded to 10.6.2 and the issue persists. I'd appreciate any help.

My wife's Macbook has EXACTLY the same problem and I've been through dozens of suggestions trying to fix it and the problem still persists.
The problem started right after I upgraded to Snow Leopard but also installed an Airport Extreme router and WPA2 wireless encryption. I've deleted all the networks, changed the order to put the Airport as the highest preference, deleted all the keys on the keychain, ran DiskUtility, all to no avail.
I'm not sure if this is somehow related to the Airport Extreme or occurs with any router. Also, have another MacBook Pro (unibody), and it does't have this problem connecting to the same Airport Extreme.
The other factor is it is intermittent --- and doesn't always fail. Rebooting the Macbook or the router will get it to re-connect, as will shutting off and turning on the Airport several times. But that's not a solution to the problem.
Apple needs to pay attention to this as many people are now reporting the problem.

  • Slightly different airport issue

I've seen a lot of topics already about airport issues, but mine is slightly different. My computer has always had issues connecting to my Linksys wrt54g (802.11g). For a while after we switched ISPs it was better but not perfect. It would cut out for a while and I'd have to restart the router and modem to get signal back up.
Now my computer simply won't recognize my network at least 5 times an hour, probably more. Also, it now has this issue with the network at school. I don't know of anything that's changed to make this happen. At home I now rely on ethernet.
Could it be something wrong with my Macbook Pro 1,1's airport card? Could it be worn out? Can I replace it?
    HELP PLZ!

Do you have any other computers connecting wirelessly to your router? I seem to remember seeing MANY issues with the WRT54G router and Macs. Possible that your router is bad as well. Your MBP being the problem is not the only possibility.

  • Very odd Airport issue airport has a mind of its own...

Ok so hopefully I have gotten your attention. As of 3 days ago my Macbook Pro (which has always connected to the internet through my Airport Extreme with the signal boosted by an Airport Express) so I am online reading email when I attempt to open a new page and my internet dies. I look at my other computer (Macbook not pro) sitting next to me and it is connected to the network just fine. So I go to connect to the internet again and I can see my network and yet every time I try to connect I get a message saying "error couldnt connect" or something similar to that. Then I went to make sure my settings werent changed and they weren't. So I ran a diagnostic to make sure that nothing was wrong settings-wise. And when I get to the step where I need to choose the network I want to connect to it asks for my password (been using same one for years) and I input it and it tells me the password is incorrect. Then I try it again, and again im told the password is incorrect, no caps are on im spelling it right, basically I am faultless. Then after a number of restarts and frustrated hours, out of nowhere it connects again.
So then two nights ago I am online I pick up my laptop from my bed and walk to the room next door and start to use my computer in the next room to show a friend something. I walk back into my room with the laptop and 8 minutes later the same internet issue occurs again. I try everything, the password isnt accepted anymore and then a couple of hours later it works.
So then tonight I am writing a paper and the same stupid thing happens again. This time after 3 restarts I get back online but it is still very very frustrating and I have no clue what is wrong
If anyone has any advice PLEASE im all ears

    Welcome to the discussions!
The fact that things improved a bit with Interference Robustness is probably a major clue that you are experiencing wireless interference issues at your new location.
The most common cause of interference problems in a home are cordless phones, which typically operate at the same frequency as wireless networks. You need to power off the phones and their base stations / cradles for a few hours to see if you notice any improvement in the performance of your wireless network. If you do, you need to try different positions for the phones.
Please post back on your findings to take the next possible steps in identifying the probable interference issue there.

  • Airport issue after update - Status grey / Connection OK - Solved

    Hello All,
Just wanted to share an issue I had that was driving me nuts, and then the final solution.
Ever since the recent airport extreme update, my airport status has been broken. The menubar icon has shown up as grey / no signal, and when I click on it, the only option I have is to 'turn airport on' which when selected does nothing.
In spite of this, though, my airport connection for my preferred network is working fine - I just can't select a new network off the list (there is no list, even in internet connect)
This has been a problem since the airport extreme update. Nothing I did seemed to help. Finally, I called apple and spent 45 minutes on the phone with them, doing the obligatory pram resets and power management resets, etc. Nothing seemed to help. We found a way to enter networks manually (go to system prefs / network / airport and add your network there) but the status problem was still there.
After I got off the phone, I went to the apple support page and found the airport extreme software update and downloaded it manually and installed it.
Manually Downloading and Installing the airport extreme update again solved the problem.
I don't know why the software-update version didn't quite work, but installing the update from the website did solve the gray / broken airport status menubar problem.
Just thought I'd share that with everyone, as it's been driving me nuts for the better part of a week.
    Cheers!

I would like to confirm that update worked for me too. Actually, I didn't need to do it manually like some of you did. It worked straight away after automatic software update.
My problem was occasional inability to connect to my wireless router. The problem would have been solved by SSID change manually on the router and reconnection.
After the latest update, everything is working flawlessly.
I have (not so known) OZENDA router and didn't have Parallels installed.

  • Macbook/Airport issues

    Hello..
Some months ago I bought an Airport Express (now running 7.6.4) to extend the WIFI from an Zyxel modem.
It has worked without a problem for months. Now however I am having issues with just one of the Macbooks (now running OS X 10.8.5) in the house.
First of all, Safari is loading VERY slowly and are sometimes loading pages partially whereas other times not loading them at all saying: "Safari cannot open page" (this is my translation from danish). Second of all, neither Mail or App Store seems to be online. Mail is not loading any new mails and App Store gives me the message: "Cannot make connection to App Store Internet connection required" (again my translation from danish - it might not be exact). Transmission has 25 finished torrents in queue and is not uploading, so I would think that this application does not really have internet either. Actually it seems as though the computer is offline, although Safari does load a page from time to time which I think is sort of weird.
When connecting to the Airport using an ethernet cable everything runs smoothly! The problem is only there when using WIFI.
My girlfriends Macbook is running 10.6.8 without any of the issues Im having. We also have two Apple TVs working without issue.
I have updated my Mac and the Airport and I have tried to disable DNS Prefething, none of which have solved my issues.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance

Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article. If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 2
Run Software Update and install all available updates for OS X or your computer's firmware.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. Continue if you find that Wi-Fi is faster with Bluetooth disabled.
From that same menu, select Open Bluetooth Preferences. If the box labeled Discoverable is checked, uncheck it. Click the Advanced button, and in the sheet that opens, uncheck the top three boxes, if any are checked. Click OK. Enable Bluetooth and test again.
If the application called "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" is running, quit it. Note: this is not applicable to OS X 10.9 or later.
    Step 4
This step will erase some of your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with "com.apple.airport.preferences.plist" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Recreate your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 6
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

  • Airport Issue, once more

Hello, ive been trying to fix this a long time but i never made it. I seriously need some help and im sry if my post is same with many other's posts, but seems that Apple didnt even try to fix it so i guess im just desparate for some help.
Ok so, browsing the internet through a wired ethernet connection causes no problems. Using Airport though..... gets the connection to drop from time to time, and i wouldnt be bothered if this didnt happen SO MANY TIMES. Any other computer connected to the same wireless network has no problems at all.
I found few tweaks after googling, but lets face it, im not a mac professional as i dont own my Mac Pro for so long, so i dont feel like tweaking than just getting an effective, official fix from apple. "Interference Robustness" doesnt works as i found out it only works with apple's products and not any other routers (which yet again, apple didnt bother to mention, searching this site and i only found a single line mentioning about Interference Robustness).
So yes, i do have a cordless phone, i do have few bluetooth devices... Arent those what people use nowdays? And no thats not the case coz like i said, any other computers work just fine. And i used to believe that my airport card was defective, but seems that many others got the same issue as me, still no honest answer from apple.
Im running OSX Tiger (10.4.11) and im using the Airport wireless card provided by apple with the mac pro. I need some help, and sry if i sound a bit of angry, but FOR GOD SHAKE, APPLE STOP IGNORING US! Ive paid much for my mac pro, and it cant even connect to the internet through wifi. I think apple MUST fix this or give us our money back...

We are just users. If you want to send feedback, there are feedback pages.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
And there are some troubleshooting tips out there - from Apple and others, found a couple using Google:
    http://www.google.com/search?ie=utf8&oe=utf8&q=AppleAirport+WirelessTrouble
A search through the forum turns up some, but I don't use wireless or Airport myself. I do know modems and routers that worked on XP sometimes needed firmware updates to work with Vista, or just didn't work.
Routers and modems that worked on older Mac hardware also needed to be updated and in some cases new models, so first thing would be to look for airport firmware and other drivers or utility updates.
Maybe there is a shielding problem, I do know proximity to base station for phones and such can cause problems.

  • Airport Issues

Hey all, I got a weird problem with my airport. I have a Aztech Wireless router HW550-3G, I have setup a home network with 2 PC's and my Macbook. The issue in my mac is that each time I stop using internet or the computer goes into sleep, I have to turn off airport and then turn on to access internet, I have the same issue to access files over the network. I initially thought it was a problem with the router so I upgraded the firmware of the router. It didn't help, My friends tried out their iPhones and it worked without any problems. I don't have another mac to try out. Is there any solution within the Mac to resolve this?

You could try deleting the Airport from Network preference pane, and then using the "+" symbol to create a new one and start from scratch (i.e. putting in the wireless password again, etc.). You may have to delete your network from your list of preferred networks as well for this to work properly.
If that doesn't work, try creating a fresh user account and test it there. That way you will be able to find out whether the issue applies to the entire Mac OS or just one user profile.
