Airport network doesn't allow me to open my work exchange mail...

I have attempted for quite some time to open a link I created to bring me to my microsoft exchange web mail. However on the airport network I created the page just loads for ever and finally comes up with a safari message that says "page couldn't not be opened". Yet this link works perfectly fine when connected to another wireless router in my apartment building. Any idea if there are any settings I should mess with on the airport and how I would access those settings?

Hi Simplistik,
Would you be able to talk me through this. I am unsure of where I should go to check settings. I went into system preferences, network, adavanced and really didn't see a whole lot of choices for manipulating the AE.
Thanks if you can do this,
Ron

  • Photoshop CS5 creates file and then doesn't allow me to open it.

I created a file on Photoshop CS5, saved it, and now when I try to open it says: "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop." How can I open the file? How come the same program cannot open its own file? Can anybody help me with this? Thanks.

That can happen in any version of Photoshop and it can be for one of at least two reasons:
1.— The file was over 2 GB in size and was saved as a PSD rather than a PSB file; or
2.— The file got corrupted.  This can happen when attempting to work across a network or with Norton Anti Virus (NAV) running on your computer.
Always work locally.  To open a file stored on a network volume, copy the CLOSED file in the Finder to your local hard drive first, then open the local file.  Once you are done working on the image, save the file on your local hard drive, close it and copy the CLOSED file back to the server.
Sometimes, Illustrator or GraphicConverter can recover the flattened composite in a corrupted file if you're lucky, but the layers will be toast.
If the file was indeed over 2 GB and saved as a PSD rather than a PSB, I know of no way to open it.
Give us some more details of the history of the file and maybe someone else will have other ideas.

  • Why does my Airport network suddenly not allow my iPhone to join?

Hello all.   Earlier this year I replaced our home network, which was two older Airport Expresses in a WDS with a new Airport Extreme plus an Airport Express to extend the network.   Everything throughout the house worked great.  Then a couple of weeks ago things got a bit screwy.  I won't bore you with all the details, and can't remember them anyway, but the short version is:
-computers upstairs connect unreliably.  Both airports are downstairs.  Upstairs computers have been fine in the past though.
-my iphone can't connect via wifi at all anymore.  Either the password is not accepted or I get a 'unable to connect to the network' message.  This with the phone in the same room as the Extreme base station.
-as far as I can tell, nothing in the house or our equipment had changed when the trouble started.  We did add two new-ish iMacs to the home network, both took over the roles, accounts, etc of other machines via Migration Asst, after the problem surfaced.  The machine downstairs is fine, the one upstairs connects to the network intermittently.    The problem upstairs is odd, the signal appears to be very strong, but password is rejected sometimes.
-the computers downstairs close to the Express were affected at first, but restarting the Express fixed that part of the problem.  I have also restarted the Extreme, which seems to have made no difference.
I'll be grateful for any suggestions.  Thanks!

You might want to delete the current wireless connection on the iPhone and then set it up again.
    On the iPhone.....
    Settings > WiFi
Click the small arrow at the right of your wireless network name to display more info
    Click "Forget this Network"
Power off the iPhone, then restart it
Setup the connection again to see if that helps

  • IWeb doesn't allow me to open an old site folder

    Hello everybody
recently I had to reinstall my software on my MacBook Pro.
I've created two sites, located in user/Sites, but, when I open iWeb, it wants me to create a new site!!
I'm unable to put the folders of my old sites in iit in order to modify/publish them again.
    any solutions??
    thanks a lot!!!
ps I'm italian...sorry for my bad english

Well no, you won't be able to open your sites because iWeb has no import facility which means that it cannot open a site that has already been published - html/css files.  You say that your sites are located under User/Sites - well this means that the sites have been published, so iWeb cannot open them.
The file that you need is your domain.sites file which is located in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  Note that you need to look under your User/Library and not your System Library as iWeb is not located there.
Your domain.sites file is the file where iWeb stores all your website data before you publish.  Double click on your domain file and iWeb will open it.

  • I use a SanDisk Cruzer with U3 Launchpad. I've had to stay with Firefox v3.6.26 because anything more recent doesn't allow the U3 Launchpad to work. Any suggestions?

OS Win7. I've used this USB drive for some time as a secure method to hold passwords I don't use often. When I first updated from Firefox v3 -- whichever version that was at the time -- to a v4 the U3 Launchpad failed to work. I tried every work around I could find on the Internet. Nothing was successful. I know this software is no longer supported. Whether it is supported should define whether it works. I find that to be an unacceptable excuse. I no longer support my daughter but she still works. She's a far more complicated machine than a PC and a piece of software.

Sorry, U3 versions of Firefox weren't made by Mozilla. That version is a modified version of Firefox made by a 3rd party and that 3rd party is responsible for its' support. I have never used it and can't help you with it.
Have you considered switching to Firefox Portable, which is made by the crew over at Portable Apps? <br />
    http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
Portable Apps has been around a lot longer than U3 Launchpad was, and is still operating and growing with the number of available Apps.

    Hi,
I am trying to make my email signature a bit more funky with linked icons. I have added icons for LinkedIn (web link), Twitter (web link), Email (mailto:) and Yahoo Messenger. However, when I "Add Link" for Yahoo Messenger, Apple Mail doesn't recognise the command

  • How do I connect Epson TX550W wirelessly to Airport network?

I have an Airport Express network connecting an MBP (10.6.3) and an iMac G5 (10.5.11) to a satellite modem. I want to introduce an Epson TX550W fully wirelessly, so that scanning is enabled and one computer doesn't need to rely on the other being up.
The printer/scanner worked when the MBP was connected by Airport (used as a single node) which plugged into a switch along with the printer and iMac. I can't fathom the directions to make the printer wireless only.

I found when I chased through the problem help something which wasn't in the set-up i.e. go to the printer and login to the airport network via the setup menu. Once I worked out how to enter a password connection was fine.
Print/scan to my MBP under 10.6.4 is good. On the iMac G5 with 10.5.8 the printer is recognised as being part of the network, but I can't actually use it. I need to spend time looking at that when I can. Maybe your network hint will work there.

  • TM AIRPORT NETWORK NOT 'SEEING' WINDOWS7 COMPUTER IN SHARED IN FINDER?

I have a TM Airport network with an iMac and MacBook Air all working fine. Would like to have Windows7 computer show in SHARED section of Finder. Windows computer is able to use WiFi Airport connection to get online. But does not showing as SHARED.
What WINDOWS and MAC settings are needed to see Windows computer in SHARED?
    Thanks

First, can other Windows PCs access the share that you created on this PC? ... or is it just your Mac that cannot?
If it's just the Mac, then please try adding the Windows's Workgroup name that you are using in the Mac's System Preferences > Network > WINS tab. Be sure to enter it exactly as it is defined for the PCs. For example, if the Workgroup name is: WORKGROUP, enter it that way on the Mac.
The NetBIOS Name field should already be pre-populated with your Mac's Computer Name.
The WINS Servers field would only be required if you are running a WINS server.

  • Have 2x Airport Express, doesn't seem to be extending network

    Hi all,
I have a Time Capsule and 2 Airport Express'. My configuration is as follows:
    1. Time Capsule is in Office connected to ethernet DSL Router
    2. Airport Express 1 in Living Room
    3. Airport Express 2 in Conservatory
I bought the Airport Express' to extend the wireless signal (wirelessly - which I was told by somebody in an Apple Store I could do). All have been setup using the Airport Utility (the Time Capsule created a new network, Airport Express' to existing network) and have a solid green light. They are all acquiring an IP Address from the DSL Router correctly. I can see all 3 in the living room as this is the middle point. However, if I go into the Conservatory my Macbook Pro loses all signal. I can see my Network in the airport list but when I click on it, it asks for a password and then times out.
If somebody could help me with this problem I would be extremely grateful.
    Many thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the discussions!
I assume that you have the AirPort Express(n) as the "g" version will not be compatible with the "extend a wireless network" function.
Here's a checklist to go through to make sure you have the proper settings:
    _On the Time Capsule:_
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab just below the row of icons
Wireless Mode should be "Create a wireless network" (It's probably already set this way)
Make sure there is a check mark next to "Allow this network to be extended"
    Update to save settings
    _On each Express:_
Open AirPort Utility, Click Manual Setup
    Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode should be set to "Extend a wireless network". If you don't see this choice, hold down the "option" key when you click on the selection box
When you select "Extend.." your wireless network created by the TC will appear as a choice to extend. Select it and enter the wireless password.
Make sure there is a check mark next to "Allow wireless clients"
    Update to save settings.
Whenever you plug the Express in, it will automatically extend the main wireless network from the Base Station. The ethernet port is also "live" in this setup. But note...you cannot extend the "guest" network if you have a dual band Time Capsule.

[BUG FIXED, see "EDIT 2" at the end of my post]
I'm on Firefox 3.6.21, and I got this problem today after a Greasemonkey update (To version 0.9.10, apparently).
Disabling Greasemonkey solved the problem, and re-enabling it reproduced the problem (middle-clicking links to open in new tab did not work, merely highlighted the link).
I should also note that while Greasemonkey was enabled and the bug was affecting me, Ctrl+Click to open links in new tabs was also broken.
    I hope this helps!
EDIT: It appears this is a known incompatibility/conflict bug between current versions of Greasemonkey and Tab Mix Plus. Read more here:
    https://github.com/greasemonkey/greasemonkey/issues/1406
EDIT 2: GREASEMONKEY HAS NOW BEEN UPDATED with a workaround to fix the problem. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/versions/ to install the update manually. It hasn't been reviewed by Mozilla yet, so it won't be an automatic update for another day or two. All credit to "cannonfodder" below for noticing this; please mark his post as helpful!

  • Slow file open and save across airport network

    Hello -
I just purchased an Airport Extreme base station and am having some problems. I could not seem to find an answer to this issue in the archives.
I have a small architecture firm and have 3 computers networked together (iBook G4, mac-mini, and Powermac G5). The G5 is our file server. A typical CAD file size is on the order of 10 mb. Since going wireless with the Airport Extreme, opening these files has become painfully slow - 2 minutes for a 11 mb file, for example.
All computers have a strong airport signal (four bars), and internet connection on all machines is fast.
    Security: WPA2
    Robustness: ON
Thanks for any help you may have to offer.

(I posted this elsewhere, hope this helps you as you did not have any responses. )
Big horrible slowdowns in file transfer over wireless have me pulling my (remaining) hair out.
I had given my Apple Airport base station (b) to my brother in Pakistan after I found a Belkin (g) at Staples for free (after rebates) and have been using it for a while. Not a pretty box but the price is beautiful and it works OK.
My real use for it is for my eMac and a couple of older PowerBooks I keep downstaors as a "music studio" for my music and podcast recording (and transferring upstairs to my server folder over wireless) and web browsing.
All worked OK as I would transfer the files to my PowerBook upstairs (connected Ethernet to a router connected to the wireless router or sometimes directly via Airport connection if laptop was not at my desk). Both configurations worked fine (only limitation being my eMac's (b) speed older Airport speed).
Since 10.4.5 (as that is the last "change" I can see made on my system overall, I have discpovered I cannot even transfer a 3.5 MB file from the eMac to ANY of the other machines. After reading several threads here it seems several people have noticed the HORRIBLE SLOWDOWN if not complete death of Airport usability for file transfer. People are being made to go around changing router settings, channel IDs etc.
That sounds like typical tech support bunk to me. After all, if the channel ID on the wireless router is a problem why is my web browing going on at normal speed but a 120 MB file transfer just told me it will take 2023642128 hours. No, I am not kidding. That is the time it would take to get man to Mars. Someone else was told to hook up the machines over Ethernet. Sure, that works for machines in the same room - and is a bearable temporary solution in that case - but not in an upstairs/downstairs situation. Burning CD-Rs to transfer 120 MB files every time is also not a good way to show off Apple technology.
So, in my humble opinion, some recent update from Apple just broke something in Airport networking or Appleshare. (Much like I have found out that DiskWarrior, a hard disk repair utility will crash after completing a current task unless you downgrade QuickTime from 7.0.4 or something to a lower version. Go figure.)
I love Apple, getting friends to switch all the time, but annoyed at these bugs that basically render standard applications unusable. So far I have not been able to figure out what the problem is.
I already deleted all the network port configurations on the eMac except wireless. Activity Monitor shows 0.1 to 11 kbps speed (yes, that is 0.1 to 11 Kbps not Mbps). No other apps are running, Tried connecting to different machines. All machines can transfer data at high speed except over Airport/wireless.
Hope you can suggest a solution when you find one.
    Imran
