Airport not connecting...not working

A few days ago, (what seemed like) the power supply went on my Time Capsule.  I found this very disappointing to see the product fail like that.  Since then, I connected my wireless network through my Airport Express.  It worked for a few days, and then lost connection to the internet.  It still has a power supply, but it won't connect.  Now it is just blinking orange (even though when it lost connection, it was solid green).  I have had to take the ethernet cable out of it and connect directly to my computer.
The Airport Express is still plugged in and is now still blinking orange.  I say now, because, even when it was solid green, it wasn't allowing my computer to connect to the internet.  I have gone through just about every troubleshooting step imaginable, including resetting my cable modem and calling my cable company, Airport Utility....  Every time I use Airport Utility and try to connect to my network, it tells me either there was a "connection timeout" or that it failed to connect and that I need to make sure the network name or password are correct (they are correct).  Now I can't get the Airport Express to stop blinking orange, or to stay green.  In fact, I can't seem to do anything to get my computer to recognize it.  It is as though it is invisible, so it won't even let me troubleshoot what is wrong with it.  What happened to the days where "Apple" was just so darn easy?
At this point, I really don't know what to do and I am starting to lose a little faith in Apple products.
What am I missing here to get this thing corrected?

Hi, I have a very similar problem, and I can not find a solution:
I have an Intel iMac and Im using a BT Voyager 2091 as my router.
The router is set up and working with my PC.
Airport is recieving the signal from the router but when I open Safari it is saying I am not connected to the internet.
I then plugged the Ethernet cable from the router to the iMac and I got the internet straight away. I am sure the problem is with airport and I have tried many different things to get it working but still no luck.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

  • Since MacOS 10.6.8 update, AirPort not working

I updated my MacBookPro with MacOS 10.6.8 and since then my wifi connection stopped working. For some reason, AirPort has disappeared. I did the following suggestions:
    Restart the MacBook Pro
    Deleted Mac System preference files
    Ran Disk Utility
AirPort Utility cannot make a connection.
I attempted to rebuilid the connection via the System Prferences/Network, but AirPort does not appear on the Interface list to create a new service.
When the MacPro is connected directly to Internet via the Ethernet port, it works fine. We use LinkSys for the router. We have another older MacBookPro that was also updated and it is not having AirPort issues. I already consulted the AirPort troubleshooting guide on the apple site.
    Any other suggestions?
    Amy

Mine did the same thing on a later model MBP - I deleted my pref file restarted and it did not work - I plugged in an ethernet while it was running and then did one more reset at random and it came back on. very random.

  • HT4437 Airplay on Airport not working correctly

    Good morning,
I am having a problem with one of my Airports when I use Airplay.
As the music is streaming from any of my device's out of nowhere it stops, starts, sounds like it skipping and even will jump to my next Airport base station which works fine might I add.
Since the other Airport works fine I am guessing it might be a warranty issue but thought I would ask anyway.
    Thanks to all that answer.

Hi Alfred, Ok thanks. I did not think that should have been a problem due to the Airport acting as a Wi-Fi repeater for my Time Capsule. And all the devices when conected to it are getting exc signal strenth as well.
The Airport I have outdoors I always thought would have been the problem one but I am thinking I might swap them around today and test you theroy.
    Thank you.

  • Airport not working after having inverter board replaced

My MacBook's AirPort is not working. I took it to an Apple store to get the inverter board replaced to stop my screen from flickering and now my AirPort doesn't work. I can turn it on, but I can't see a wireless network. There are other computers on the network, so it's not a problem with the network. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to try to solve this problem without having to take my Mac back to the store and go without it for another day or two.

Normally that is on my list of to-dos when something network related isn't working. Unfortunately, I am not at my house, I am camping, and where we are staying provides wifi, so I can't really reset the router. Hopefully the router gets reset sometime tonight.
Usually I can see networks, but I can't see any right now.

This chain is permanent and affects all keychain items used by aiport.

  • Programs suddenly quitting on my Macbook Pro and Airport not working right

I upgraded from an ibook to a Macbook pro about a month ago. Over the past month at least once a day a random program will "unexpectedly quit" on my computer. I have updated all the software on my computer and dont really run much peer to peer software. Also, after waking up from "sleep" my airport will suddenly stop working or even recognizing the my network. This is only solved by a restart. Can anyone help with this? I never had these problems with my sturdy old ibook. Between the high temp my computer reaches, the relatively short battery life, and the issue with all the software quitting I'm starting to feel like I was sold a lemon. Any positive feedback would be appreciated.

  • Moved G5 to new location, airport not working

I just moved my G5 downstairs to the same exact place where I typically use my laptop (powerbook G4). Never had an issue with the laptop recognizing airport and going online, but now my G5 won't show any networks at all and I can't get airport to work.
Is there something I should be changing in the settings or how can I get airport to work on my G5 in the new location?
    Thanks much!

    Hello BDAqua
No problem, I do quite a bit of experimenting with my Macs and find out some weird things, but some are working to my advantage, I always operate my Power Mac G5 without the side panel now, but of course keep the air deflector in place, unless theres company coming over, then I replace the side access panel. Also, there is an antenna inside the G5. It runs along the opposite side of the G5 case behind the logic board to the rear of the case, where the external antenna is connected. So by removing the side access panel, it allows for moderate reception. =) As mentioned earlier though, definitely not as good as the external antenna, but when used without the access panel in combination with the external antenna, it get better reception than my 1.25GHz iMac G4 did. And by the way, this also is true for Bluetooth as well, as I have a Bluetooth Board installed in my G5. =) I loaded my G5 once I bought it (Used).
    Regards again. =)

  • Migration from Linksys G to Airport not working

I'm upgrading from a Linksys WRT54g to an airport extreme. The previous setup was the linksys and a 4 port hub with a combination of wired and wireless connections. Our apple server, printer and a few other devices are hardwired. We have about 10 imacs and 1 Vista laptop. All the wireless imacs and vista need to connect to the hardwired server to run a filemaker database and be able to print to the hardwired printer via wireless connection.
Some imacs are running OS 10.4.11 but that should still work with the AP extreme since it's multi mode for wireless g and N.
The airport extreme and an 8 port netgear Gb hub are replacing the previous setup.
I've used the Airport utility on a 10.5.8 imac to find and configure the Airport and most macs find it but I still don't have internet or lan connection. I'm using WPA because that's all the older macs will support. The internet connection is a T1. I'm also getting the 169.xxx.xxx.xx ip address for the airport by default. How can I change this to 192.168.1.1 and still use DHCP?
I'm also getting kernal panics on several of the G5 imacs while switching airport connections and/or after configuring this new wireless connection.
Are the any special considerations I should be aware or a firmware upgrade? I'm following the instructions very carefully. Doesn't the Airport extreme provide the DHCP for the ipv4 connections and shouldn't the wireless macs connect to other hardwired macs with no problem?
    Thanks for any advice.
    budgen

Welcome to the discussion area, budgens!
Can't answer all of your questions, but can offer some assistance.
I'm also getting the 169.xxx.xxx.xx ip address for the airport by default.
This is a self-assigned IP address which indicates that the AirPort is not connected to or is not currently communicating with a valid Internet connection.
How can I change this to 192.168.1.1 and still use DHCP?
You will continue to see the 169.x.x.x error until you have a good Internet connection.
By default, the AirPort Exteme will use the 10.0.1.x range for local network IP assignments. If you want to change this to the 192.168.x.x range, you would do the following:
Open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
    Click the Internet icon
    Click the DHCP tab
Change to the 192.168.x.x range on this page
By default, the AirPort Extreme will be at 192.168.1.1 if you use this range and have a valid Internet connection.

  • Verizon Fios and Airport not working. PLEASE HELP!

Ok, so I have been trying to get my Airport Extreme and Express to work with my new verizon fios service for about 5hours now. incrediably frustrating becasue with my old service provider it took about 5min.
Here is what i need to do.
extend the fios network using my airport extreme. I need to wirelessly print and use it in my office which is far away from the Verizon MI24WR router. cords are not an option. I need this to be wireless.
I also need to extend my network downstairs to my airport express in order to use itunes to wirelessly listen to music on my speakers.
I have tried other things described in message boards but I need both the extreme and express to be wirelessly connected to the verizon router. Is this possible and if so how! Please explain in the simplest of terms.
I am beyond frustrated! PLEASE HELP!

  • Fios router to airport not working.

I have the Fios Actiontec connected to my airport router (via a long ethernet cable) in another room to extend my wi-fi signal.  It's worked fine for the past couple of years. I had to reset the Fios router after some technical difficulty. The Fios router works but I can't get the airport router to connect. The light on the airport is green. When I try to access the internet via my bluray player (for netflix)....I get the following (wireless connection ok - internet connection failed).
So the bottom line is, the Airport Extreme light is green but not connected to the internet.
    Thanks.

I've been trouble shooting.  Airport recoginzes the signal from the Fios router....but it is not sending out a signal via Wi-Fi.  I can plug in an ethernet cable into Airport and surf the web. Is there something in the settings that I am overlooking?

    thanks

PS ot sure what OS I have..never checked to be honest
INTEL iMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi David,
sunny in Scotland right now ?? (Sorry, just joking)
Have the same one and came to the conclusion that Airport doesn't wait for the DHCP from the Netgear to get a numer like 192.168.xxx.xxx but has already one which is not in the pool provided by the Netgear.
Since I'm depending on this I help myself by turning Airport off (in the Menu) wait 20 seconds and then turn it on again.
    Helps every time.
Another guy round here has helped himself by turning off the Automatic (in the Airport preferences) and has entered all numbers manually.
    Regards

  • AirPort not working on MacMini after update to 10.6

I have a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacMini that i recently updated to 10.6 (snow leopard). After this update i could not use the airport on my macmini. Before is had no troubles at all...
I used the airport signal on my macmini a lot for my iphone at home.
It says 'airport is activated, but not connected to any network'. When i try to create a network it says 'there is a problem..' Yeah... thx....
Anyone with the same problem? What can i do?
I don't remeber exactly how i setup the previous airport connection. If anyone has a link to a step-by-step guide, then i can try to create a new one...
    thx for helping me out!

Harddrive crashed a month ago. Replaced the drive and now the airport/browsing is very moody. If I turn airport off and then turn it on, it will render the first page, but then any further browsing never renders a page or renders a page after several minutes with many of the page elements missing. I can ping yahoo, google and other sites that I am going to, but browsing in Safari and Opera yields the same results. The network is working as my PC computer is accessing the network. The mac mini can see the network, but only when I start and stop the airport can I hope to get to a web page. The mac mini cannot even get to the network router unless I turn airport off and then on again. Help.

  • IMac airport not working?

Ok, so I just bought a new imac g4 (well new to me), it's the 800mhz 15 inch model. I received it with an airport card installed. My problem is, the iMac won't recognize the Airport card! I have reseated it, tried it in my powermac (which worked). I am just wondering if there is anything I haven't done. I hope the mb isn't screwed.

Ensure that it is the original 802.11b AirPort card. That is the only one which is compatible with that iMac.
If the card isn't recognized, it is one or more of the following:
    (1) Wrong card.
    (2) Card not installed properly.
    (3) Card defective.
    (4) iMac's motherboard defective and not recognizing card.
