Airport not recognising my network.

Hi. I have had a peculiar problem for the last few days: Airport is not recognising my network so I can't get online via wifi. When I plug in the LAN, then I get the connection right away. Airport (Extreme) recognises other networks so it's not that it has stopped functioning and my wife (who uses the Windows O/S) connects via wifi through our network. I have tried shutting down everything and startng up again after a gap of 5-10 minutes. That seemed to work once but hasn't since. I've tried uninstalling my network, removing any links on the keychain and then reinstalling, all to no avail. I have a 13" Macbook aluminium body which is still under the 3-year warranty period. Before I approach Apple Support, is there something that I should do? I have a feeling that somehow this can be resolved fairly easily, but then I admit to not being a computer expert by any means. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If there is nothing connect or using to the airport express, you can try to reset the airport express back to standard.
And the default password is "public" if I am not mistaken.
And see if your MacBook can connect using that open wireless connection.
Good Luck.

  • Airport not detecting any Networks

I was working fine yesterday with my macbook late 2008 aluminum unibody. Then I left the laptop for a while to have some lunch. When I went back to my mac it hanged so I forced quit some applications then did a hard shutdown. After which my Airport cannot find any network. I did a hardware test... all is okay (does this also test the airport card?). I also tried to manually input the SSID and the WEP Password (13 Characters) where I get an error of Connection timed out.
    Can anybody help me?

    Open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utilities
Once in Disk Utilities select your drive in the left window. Then from the right window select First Aid (First Aid will be selected by default).
    Verify Disk:
In the "First Aid" window towards the bottom, select Verify Disk. If "Verify" comes back reporting errors, then post back here as we will have to give you further instructions on booting from your install disk.
Also at the bottom note the S.M.A.R.T status, it should read "Verified"
    Repair Permissions:
In the "First Aid" window towards the bottom select "Repair Disk Permissions"

  • Airport not recognised with Leopard

I've just installed leopard and I now can't seem to join my airport express to my main wireless network (my non-mac wireless router). I can restart the airport as a base station and stream itunes to it, but then I can't connect to the web and listen to music.
When I reset the airport express the airport utility recognises it. I then go through the process of joining a network and naming the airport express for use with itunes, and all seems to go well. However, the airport express then doesn't restart properly and is no longer recognised by the airport utility. iTunes at first recognises the airport express as a remote speaker but then can't connect to it.
    I didn't have these problems with OS X 10.4.10
    Any thoughts?

I seem to have solved this problem by downgrading the Airport Express software to 7.4.1. As soon as this was completed, my wife's MacBook was once again able to find the Airport Express and connect to it.
Perhaps this will be helpful to someone else.

  • Airport not connecting to network

    Hello,
Im having an issue getting my airport express to connect to my wifi network.   The airport is flashing amber. I am using ipad 2, which is upgraded to iOS 5.1, and the new imac as well.   I have tried to reset it.   I am trying to use this to stream music from ipod and pandora via the ipad.  The airport is older, one of the first generations.  Also, when i open the airport utility, it cannot find the airport.  When i go to Settings, Wifi, Setup airport, i get this message:  "the airport cannot be setup, using this software, go to apple.com/support "   The crazy part is that it worked fine til a few weeks ago when we switched from Time Warner to Fios.  Any ideas?   Thank you.

"Join" would be the correct choice for configuration.  Here I assume that you are trying to connect using wireless only.
This can be tricky because you must know 3 things to be able to do this correctly:
    1) The name of the wireless network that you want the Express to "join"  (Most users know this)
    2) The password of the wireless network that you want the Express to "join"  (Most users know this)
    3) The exact type of wireless security setting that the main wireless router is using  (Few users know this. The Express will not join the network unless it is provided with the correct settings. If they do not match up with main router, you will see the error message that is being displayed.
Unfortunately, you have to reset the Express back to default settings and start all over again when the error message appears. A green light on the Express is usually an idication that it has joined the wireless network successfully.

  • Printer not recognised on network via Airport Express

I have recently purchased a Canon MP630 and installed all the drivers etc onto my Mac. I can print from it easily from my Mac via a USB connection. However, Im hoping to connect it to my Airport Express via the USB. I have done that, but the printer isnt being recognised and I cant print.
Can someone explain what to do, to fix this problem.
    Thanks

HP Jetdirect is what Apple calls IP printing to port 9100. It's a standard protocol which your printer supports. We often recommend it because it uses a specific port (9100) rather than using a queue name. Using a device-specific queue name is required in the "standards" documents for LPR and IPP (yes I realize OS X claims that a blank gives a default queue name).
    In short - try it.

    Hello,
I see that you posting from India. I had this same problem a few months ago when I was out of the US. The iPhone can recognize wireless networks that are broadcasting on a broader range of wireless channels than my MacBook Pro. I was in France and my iPhone would connect to the wireless network but my MacBook would not even detect it. This was because the wireless network was broadcasting on channel 13. This is a normal channel in many parts of the world but we are not allowed to use this channel in the US. My MacBook can only connect to networks broadcasting on channels 1 through 11 on a 2.4GHz network. Try checking your router to see what channel it is broadcasting on and change it to a channel between 1 and 11 and see if that helps

  • Airport Not Seeing Any Networks

*After waking the PowerBook from overnight Sleep mode this morning, my Airport isn't working. No reception of mine or any other WiFi networks in my building (there are typically 4 or 5 of my neighbors' wireless networks displayed when I check using Internet Connection). After numerous re-starts, forced re-starts, re-boots and Disk Utility passes, nothing. I re-set my Airport Express, nothing. I re-seated my internal Airport card and checked the antenna connector, still nothing. Do Airport cards eventually just quit working? Anyone here have any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Jd*

*Back from the Apple Store and a meeting with a very competent genius. The card works and I was able to access the Internet there. Returned home and I was very optimistic and ready to get back to normal. I restarted the computer and had the same problem, not seeing ANY WiFi networks, including my Airport Express or any of my neighbors' networks. I took the computer to another building in my complex and was able to join onto one of the WiFi networks there, so that tells me that there may be outside influences at work here. I have just re-installed OSX to make a clean start to see if that would make a difference, again nothing. My next move is to check with one of my neighbors to see if they are having the same problem. Otherwise, it's very strange and I'm stumped. I'm open to any other ideas and suggestions, if anyone here has any. Thanks, JD*

  • Leopard not recognising wireless networks

So I clean installed Leopard on an external HD, but network preferences wont recognise my wireless network or any of the other five I can usually see from here. However, when I am presented with Network Diagnostics option I can see all the wireless networks I would expect, and am able to log into mine. Problem is if the computer sleeps, or if I tinker with the Network Preferences, the connection drops again. Anyone having this problem?

I've also been having this problem since installing Leopard. Every once in a while, my connection will drop (the greyed-out AirPort signal will appear) and Adium will reconnect. This happens sometimes four or fives times in a row. I found that rebooting the airport card via the menu bar fixes it temporarily but it returns.
I also cannot see the other networks in my neighborhood from the menu bar, but can from the Diagnostics. Mine comes up in the networks menu but I have the feeling if I did a fresh install of Leopard, I would have the same problems as the previous posters. Since this is a fairly bad bug in Leopard, I'm sure Apple will come out with a fix for it. It is a new release, afterall. I trust Apple with their updates.

  • Airport not connecting to network AUTOMATICALLY

Hi all...I have had my MacBook for a couple of weeks now. It was a replacement for my 3 year old 14" iBook G4.
I have not been able to fingure out how to make Airport conect automatically, as I was able to do on my iBook. Anyone know how to accomplish this?
I did a search, but al I could find were people with bad reception or dropped reception. I'm no thaving either of those issues.
Oh, I have an Airport Extreme base station, the same one I used with my iBook.
I appreciate any help y'all can give. Apple support was not helpful. they told me that they thought this functionality was rremoved from the MacBook, but i find that hard to believe.
    Thanks!

If you open the Network System Preference and "Show:" the Airport connection…
    - Under the Airport tab you should see "By default, join:". Change this to "Preferred networks".
    - Now, Use the "+" button to add your network and use the "-" to remove any unused networks. Sometimes if you are having problems it is best just to remove the problematic network and re-add it.
    - Now click on the Apply button
    - From this point you should automatically connect to only uour preferred networks. If you wish you can now change the "By default, join:" option to Automatic and Apply that.

  • Windows 8.1 in Bootcamp not recognising home network WiFi

I am running bootcamp with Windows 8.1 on my MacBook Pro Retina Early 2013. I installed it together with all drivers as suggested by bootcamp.
In Mac OS 10.9.4 I am connected to my home network and can see about 4-5 other networks (from my neighbours).
After booting into Windows, I can see the networks of my neighbours but not my network.
This connection problem occurred only recently. I have been able to connect seamlessly before.
I went through the router settings not finding any restrictions to IP- or MAC-Addresses or a/b/g settings. I tried resetting my router without any luck.
I tried uninstalling the Windows WLAN driver (also disabling), but I can still only see other peoples networks. I tried restoring to an earlier point in time without any luck.
My Kindle and my Nexus 5 connect without a problem to my home network.
    Any ideas?

What finally worked was changing the channel of the router. I had my setting on auto and changed it randomly to channel 2, which worked!
