Airport Power - Not Responding

I have recently purchased an Airport Base Station. I had great success getting it up and operational... Until about 2 weeks in, when I attached my Canon printer via usb. Since then, it's been spotty. I got my macbook to read the signal, and print to the printer. But then, suddenly lost signal.
It started showing the solid yellow light. I then tried unplugging, and plugging back in. Now no power light on the front, and the small LED's on the ethernet locations are lit solid green. It won't even start up.
I've tried re-setting the unit, but it doesn't respond.
Help?!

Hello meghancal. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Since you have already tried the resets, it is possible that either the power "brick" or the base station itself may have failed. Have you tried plugging the base station into another electrical outlet? If so, and still no go, I suggest that you take it back to your local Apple Store/Retailer to have them take a look.

  • Airport Extreme not responding

I just got a new Airport Extreme, and used it without problems for several days. Now it has suddenly stopped working. I've both unplugged and held down the reset button, as described in the Setup Guide, but nothing has any effect.
    The symptoms I see:
    1) The status light on front is completely dark.
    2) The tiny green status lights over the ports in the rear flash green.
    3) I can't connect my Mac to the Internet even when I plug into one of the ports in the rear of the Airport Extreme. If I connect it to the DSL modem that the Airport Extreme is plugged into, I see the Internet just fine.
Should I assume the Aiport Extreme is dead and get warranty service, or is there something else I should try first?
    Mike

I(f you have done a reset and it does not respond then get it replaced.

  • Printer connected to Airport Express not responding

I know I've done something wrong, but can't work out what it is. I went overseas for 2 weeks so turned off my computer, printer, Airport Express - at the wall. When I came back I turned everything back on but now my printer does not respond when I send it printing jobs. It has worked flawlessly in the past but I can't for the life of me, work out why it won't work now. I'm using a Brother Mono Laser printer Model HL-1450 - I even downloaded the latest driver from the Brother website but that makes no difference. If I connect my printer directly to my iMac - it works like a charm. However, when connected via USB to the Airport Express nothing happens. I checked out the Mac help 'connecting a USB printer to AirPort base station but it says '5. In the Printer pop-up Menu, choose Bonjour and then choose your printer'. Bonjour doesn't show up, my Printer does, but nothing happens. The printer dialog box just shows the job spooling and it never gets past about 3 or 5%.
Any help gratefully received before I tear out all my hair.
    Cheers
    Tricia

  • Airport Express Not Responding

I've now done the routine of performing a factory default reset on one of my Airport Express base stations about six times today, and each time I only have partial success at best.
First, on performing the factory default reset, something good happens: the base station seems to be reset to it's out-of-box name and settings since I can see it in my Airport drop-down as Airport Network 5e08cf. That's good!
But wait... the AX base station won't stop blinking yellow.
Optimistically I press on to configure the base station with the AirPort Setup Assistant. I'm encouraged because at the end of the setup, it tells me that I've successfully set up the base station to join my existing network. Great!
No. Not great. The base station still will not stop blinking yellow.
Then total defeat... I try to configure the base station in Airport Admin Utility. It sees the base station with the name that I just gave it in AirPort Setup Assistant. But when I click configure, it eventually gives me the error "The AirPort Admin Utility was unable to read the configuration of the selected base station. An error occurred while reading the configuration".
So can anyone help me to get this fixed? This base station was working perfectly until recently.
    Many Thanks. -Pete

Make sure you do it correctly and connect to Apple network prior to configuring Airport Express.

  • Strange problem: USB devices drawing too much power / not responding - multiple macs

    Hi everyone
I was wondering if anyone had any solutions to a rather strange problem.
Yesterday my Lacie USB drive and my USB SD card both stopped working on my Macbook Air.
The USB SD card fails to mount (no power light), my Lacie USB drive brings up a warning that it is "Drawing too much power and will be disconnected".
The only thing I had done the day before was try and plug in a USB externally powered host to connect these two devices (and a printer).
This morning I tried these two devices (Lacie drive and SD card) on a different Mac and both still don't work - I get exactly the same issues as described above.
Is it a coincidence they have both gone wrong at the same time? Could it have been the external hub that broke these? Has anyone else come across anything like this?
I've done some searching and have run the SMC and Pram resets on these machines and it doesn't make any difference. I've also tried a different cable / used the cable on a different USB drive and it works fine.
Any help / advice would be awesome!
    Thanks in advance
    Martin

Are you talking about the CABLE ,the charger is the device that plugs into the wall socket
if it is the cable it has warranty with the iphone .Cable is intelligent ,they go wrong which is why you have  a warranty
If it is faulty Apple will exchange it but you will have to take it to an Apple store genius bar ,nothing else you can do

  • My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable usin ghte same wall plug in the same wall socket?

My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or directly into an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable using the same wall plug in the same wall socket. This makes no sense but I see that it has been posted as a problem elsewhere. This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.
Has anyone asked Apple directly about this?

    Hi there Apples or Pears,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the articles below.

  • Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black.  Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in, any ideas?

Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black.  Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in so I cannot restore or anything.  Looks like the screen is on it's just unresponsive and black obviously.  Has anyone had this problem?  I was updating via wifi right in front of my router and my computer.

Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department.  Her suggestions:  change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers.  So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue.  It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more.  Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department.  Make them aware of this problem!

I attempted to update to latest version of IOS.  Now all I get on the display is a graphic of the power cord with an arrow pointing to an iTunes icon.  Ipad does not seem to power down or power up correctly.  Home button is not responding.

I am new to this, could you provide me with a little more detail on how to do this?  Thanks so much!

  • Imac 27" Intel Core 7 CPU. Screen goes black and will not respond except with a push of power button. Second monitor connected via displayport continues to display fine. Apply Store did full hardware scan and all is fine. Did clean wipe from Mavrick back

Imac 27" Intel Core7  CPU 16 Gig RAM. Screen goes black and will not respond except with a push of power button. Second monitor connected via displayport continues to display fine. Apply Store did full hardware diagnostic and all is fine. Did clean wipe from Mavrick back to Mountain Lion but problem remains. Apple Store can do no more.

I did some more digging, it appears to be a backlight problem only. I can see the screen very dimly if I use a bright flashlight in a very dark room. It also seems to run ok if the brightness is turned down a LOT.
So I'm thinking this is a LED driver board issue or the display itself. I'll open it up and check the connection between the two and see if I can get any more clues. At least I can use it somewhat now by dimming the display significantly...

  • My Airport Express in not responding

I have Airport Express stable working for 3 months.I never turned it off.But in last days occured "interesting" problem. When I try to use it in the start of the day it is not responding. My network card cann't see it and if I try to "ping" a haven't got any answer. But after replugging it began work. And in the next morning a have the same situation.
I did not make any changes to configuration. So as far as I understood the problem is in heating. Is this possible?
Any help anybody can give would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In order for AirPort Utility to be able to detect your AirPort Express you need to either be connected to the AirPort Express via WiFi or by connecting an ethernet cable from your computer to the Express.

  • What do I need to do to power off my Ipad.  It has a message on the screen that it has not been backed up by icloud for two weeks and will not respond to anything.

I charged my Ipad last night and this morning there was a message from icloud that it has not been backed up for two weeks.  I tried to click the ok but it will not respond.  I cannot even power off the Ipad.  Does anyone know what I should do?

A reset should help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons and await restart. No content will be affected.

  • Keynote not responding when trying to open Power Point downloads

I'm downloading power point presentations from my university website and trying to open them with Keynote. It starts to open it up then just stops about a third of the way through the progress bar. The activity monitor says that keynote is not responding. I tried restarting my MBP, but did not work, keynote seems to be working fine when I start it on its own, any help appreciated.

Come on, I'll try to help.
At first I confess that I also had trouble opening the files I had in Power Point. One of them even have 1500 slides. But in Power Point opens quickly, because most are text.
My solution: I opened the file in PowerPoint 2008 and saved it as "pptx". This is the latest version of pp. After I opened the keynote. The first time it takes to open and then gives some errors. It's just you solve, the error sources and images and save to "key" (keynote).
I think it is. At least for me it worked.
Sorry for English. I used a translator.

  • Power button not responding, can't login

I have a late model 15" macbook pro with Retina display.
Periodically the computer will lock up when I open the cover. It is displaying the login screen and will allow me to type in my password but then nothing happens.
The main issue however is that I cannot reboot the computer. The power button (built into the keyboard) does not respond. I have pressed and held it for up to a minute with no response. Likewise, no other keystroke combination that I've tried works either.
I have remote login enabled and I can ping the computer and even start an SSH session, but the computer never responds.
My only alternative has been to take this to my Apple tech who then unscrews the back (**** pentalobe screws) and pulls the battery cable. This is the second time this computer has locked up on the login screen in 2 days.
Any help is appreciated. Ask any questions, I will try and answer in an effort to resolve this.

    Update:
My phone did work fine with everything as far as I could tell for about an hour.  Now it turned itself off with over 90% battery and the power button won't turn it back on.
Holding Home and Power button just made it turn back on.
