Airport refuses to recognize password change

I have successfully used my wireless connections in hotels, libraries, and homes but am unable to use it successfully in one particular household, although my ethernet connection +with the same password+ works fine. Even when the password is typed and "show password" is indicated it keeps reverting to my host's former password. How do I delete the old password in order to connect using wireless in this household?

Try deleting the Preferred Network entry in your wireless Network settings, and then reenter it.
Also, there could be a wireless interference issue.

  • Airport Extreme WiFi password change

I want to change the network password on my Airport router. When I open Airport Utility it attempts to locate the Airport base station but never finds it. It says "no configured Airport base stations have been found...will continue searching" The Airport is working and is connected to the Internet. I have Wifi access from this Mac & mobile devices in the house.
Any ideas on what I can do to access the base station to make the password change?

Also, is your Mac connected to the AirPort Extreme/Express (either by ethernet cable or the AirPort's own wifi) or might it have gotten connected to some other wifi network (possibly associated with your ISP's modem, gateway, or router)?

  • How do i get all my devices to recognize a changed password?

How do i get all of my Apple devices to recognize a changed iCloud password? My PC is fine but iPhone and iPad are confused.

    Hi Boilerdog,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Be sure to sign in to iCloud again using this step:
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > iCloud, then tap your iCloud account.
    From:
    iCloud: Change your iCloud password
You will be prompted to enter your new password at this point.

i want to change my password

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utiltiies > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Express, then click Edit in the lower right hand corner of the pop up box
Click the Base Station tab at top of the next window to change the name of the AirPort Express or device password
Click the Wireless tab to change the name of the wireless network or the password for the wireless network. Recommend that you change both the wireless network name and password.
Click Update at the lower right of the window to save changes and the AirPort Express will restart in 40-45 seconds

  • I just changed the channel on my Airport Extreme and now can't get the Airport Express to recognize the network.  What do?

I changed the channel on Airport Extreme to get away from interference.  Now I can't get my airport express to recognize the network.  What do I do?

I would suggest that you perform a "hard" reset on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), and then, using the AirPort Utility, reconfigure it "join" or "extend" the AirPort Extreme as appropriate for your networking requirements.

  • My "website login info remember function" won't recognize/save new password changes to Yahoo mail

I've just changed my password into my Yahoo email account - however the Foxfire website login data remember function box doesn't appear asking if I want to save my new login information.
I've checked my Tools/Options/Security info and all is as should be... And my Tools/Options/Privacy/Remember History box is checked too...
In fact the "remember password data" box just popped up when I registered with this site and added my new login info to my list of saved login ID's and passwords...
Seems to be the "login data remember function" isn't recognizing my Yahoo mail login password change as new info that needs to be re-saved...

hello bthrower, websites can specify if browsers should be able to save username/passwords (through the autocomplete="off" attribute in the login form in the html source code) - this is often the case when a higher level of security is presumably required by those sites.
you can either [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/remember-passwords/ install an addon] or [https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password use a bookmarklet] to circumvent this restriction.

  • ITunes refuses to recognize current iPod software

    Hi all,
I had upgraded to the latest version of iTunes (7.1), but after a few weeks, it stopped loading completely. Instead, it began freezing 3/4 way through updating the library. I assume that during the upgrade, the iPod firmware was also upgraded.
I wasn't able to work my way around it, so I uninstalled ver. 7 and re-installed ver 6. Since then, iTunes opens perfectly (a relief).
Problem: iTunes refuses to recognize my iPod now, saying:
"The iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.0 or later."
Obviously, I was having trouble with 7.1 so that's not an option I'd like to explore. Suggestions would be appreciated.

i have a 3rd generation ipod and my girlfriend has a 2G nano, both of which stopped being recognized by itunes immediately after i installed itunes 7.0.2 (shocking). After some research and playing around i did find a workaround. Plug your ipod in and wait for "Do Not Disconnect". Right click on My Computer and select manage. On the left hand side towards the bottom select Disk Management. Next you should see the name of your ipod in the middle section, right click on it and select Change Drive Letter and Path. Next Click the Add button and choose a drive letter not being used by your computer (Q usually is available) and press OK. Close the Computer Management window and open itunes, you should see you ipod and should be able to update it.
As far as I can tell, you have to do this each time you plug you ipod in, but it does work.
    Good Luck!

    30G Video iPod   Windows XP

I am having the exact same problem, if it is of any comfort. I have an 80GB Classic and a 512MB Shuffle (gumstick variety) and just this evening, when I plug either of them into the USB port, my Mac (G5) recognizes the iPod for a brief moment but then, a message appears saying that (I paraphrase) "an iPod has been plugged in but it cannot be identified properly. Please disconnect and try again." I do try again, and again, but nothing changes. The iPod's icon appears briefly on the desktop, as it should, but quickly vanishes as the error message pops up.
I tried resetting my larger iPod, per Apple's instructions, but that has not helped. I have restarted the computer twice, and no luck. I have just updated iTunes to the latest version; nothing.
The larger of these iPods did connect just fine, it turns out, to an iMac in the other room.
I actually had this larger iPod connected to my computer just this morning, updating its contents with some new podcasts. Ever since, and even now, it plays music and looks fine; it just won't connect.

  • MobileMe iPhoto galleries not syncing after password change

After changing the MobileMe Password iPhoto does not recognize the properly configured MobileMe Account anymore.
All other Applications with MobileMe Upload/Sync/Publishing capability (iMovie, Aperture, MobileMe-Sync) still work flawless. After trying to publish a Photo to a MobileMe Gallery or clicking on an prior uploaded MobileMe , the MobileMe "Are you already a member" (Translated from German) screen pops up, asking me to login into MobileMe. A second windows states "An error occured with the publication of album "ALBUMNAME". Your MobileMe Account Information is not correct. The provided login or password is not valid" (Translated from German)."
Even in the iPhoto Preferences/Setting under the "Web" Tab the used and max iDisk Capacity is not shown.
After changing the MobileMe Password iPhoto does not recognize the MobileMe Account anymore.
I'm having this problem on my late 2007 MacBook Pro 2,4GHz
On my second Mac at home evrything works just fine, even in iPhoto.
I've tried several things to solve this problem:
    - Logging Off & On with fake MobileMe username/password in the MobileMe Setting in System Preferences
    - Updating the password in publish.me.com in the keychain
    - replacing the keychain on this Mac (MBP) with the keychain from my Mac at (both have latest Snow Leopard and iPhoto Version)
    - deleted the com.apple.iPhoto.plist

  • Airport refuses to connect to dlink router

When I try to connect to dlink (WBR-1310) network, Airport gives me a message "There was an error joining the AirPort network dlink" after I enter my password. I created my password with the help of a dlink technician and they have no clue why it would not work. If I do not password protect my network, it works, but I do not want to go unprotected. Any suggestion? Thanks much.

danycom, Welcome to the discussion area!
When you say "Airport refuses to connect to dlink router", do you mean that you are trying to get an AirPort Express (AX) to connect wirelessly to the router? Or do you mean that you are trying to get your Mac to connect wirelessly to the router?

  • Simple Interface expired password change prompt

We have a population of users who access GW exclusively through WebAcc. Some of this population has jumped on the mobile device bandwagon and so we've directed them to the simple interface when accessing GW from a mobile device.
Some of these mobile device users now exclusively use the simple interface on their tablet/phone to access GW and when their password is expired, are never presented with the password change dialogue.
Ive verified when user with an expired password navigates directly to the simple interface url , https://gwserver/gw/webacc?User.interface=simple, either on a mobile device or desktop browser, IE, FF, Chrome, the user consumes a grace login and is taken directly to the simple interface mailbox.
Resetting grace logins and navigating to the standard webacc interface the GW password change dialogue is presented as expected.
GroupWise 8.0.1 webacc on netware. I think wed refrained from going to newer releases in fear of some nasty bugs in the subsequent versions, but Ive not kept current on issues with the latest release.
I understand the next GW version with native mobile device templates is around the corner, but management may want to address this sooner.
Is this failure to recognize password expiry in the simple interface a know behavior?

  • Airport Express requests a password ?

When using Airport Express to configure my Airport, it requires a password. I have no idea where to find this password. This is not a wifi password, since I am connected to the Airport by ethernet connection.
When entering any password, I get the message error -6753.
    Can you help me ?
    Thanks

    Hi Olivierc!
Perhaps you originally configured the Express with the password "apple" ??
Regardless, perhaps the easiest is to reset the Express to factory default, which erases the "profiles" - all memory of contact with other computers. That'll give you a completely fresh start, just as if it were new. While "reset to factory default" may sound dramatic, it's actually quite simple, since it won't change the firmware of the Express, or the AirPort software on your Mac. You'll be back to normal in a few minutes:)
Refer to the last section "How to perform a factory default reset" on this page:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044
You'll know that a factory default has successfully occurred when the default name of the Express (Apple Network ____ ) is displayed in your menu bar's AirPort icon.

just installed a new time capsule and i want to use my airport express to extend my wireless range....time capsule working with existing devices at this time...but i am not able to get airport utility to recognize the airport express.....????

Temporarily connecting your AirPort Express to one of the Time Capsule's Etherent LAN <-> ports...as LaPastenagure suggests....is always a good way to setup and configure other network devices.
If you want to configure the Express using wireless, remember that the Express broadcasts a default wireless signal with a name like Apple Network xxxxxx. You must log on to this network first....no password is required....then open AirPort Utility to "see" the AirPort Express.
