Airport router works with my Mac but my roommate can't connect on her PC

Hey all. On my MacBookPro I am able to connect to my Airport wireless router. We have a WEP password (11 characters) on the locked network. I set the network up years ago and have had no problems accessing it on my Mac. My new roommate has a PC, and she is not able to get onto the network. She gets the following error message: "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters."

On your Mac, open the Airport Utility.
Select the airport base station from the list, go to manual setup.
From menu select, Base Station > Equivalent Network Password
Now copy copy password onto the Windoz PC.

Airport Express works with my Mac but not XP Pro

Hello I have an Airport Express that I set up and use with my G4 laptop flawlessly.
My Problem is trying to get my PC, running XP Pro, to play-nice with the Airport Express.
The nutty thing is that this set up was working perfectly for months and then quit for some reason. Anyway, the I use WEP encryption and I have the same passwords set for both computers. Now, the PC sees the AE and is apparently able to connect with it but gives the alert that it has only limited connectivity and functionality with the network. Strange...
Now, as far as I can tell there are two passwords to the AE. One is the Base Station password and the other one is for the encryption. The PC never seems to ask for the Base Station password which seems odd. As I said before, this worked well at one time (with WEP) so I don't know what's going on. I also obviously don't know XP at all so I apologize. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Thanks for the link. I have set the AE to use WPA encryption using a 13 character plain-text network key password. I'm led to believe that this would be a palateable password for both the Mac and PC...of course this doesn't fix things. I should know that simply entering the same network key on both computers would not work. That would be too easy... Well now, in XP under Network Properties it only offers WEP or None for Data Encryption. This is weird right? Thanks a lot for all your help.

AirPort Extreme works with my Mac, but not my PSP?

Just got a new AirPort Extreme today, and I had difficulty setting up because i had typed something wrong. I fixed it and was excited to see that my homepage appeared on my computer, then I tired connecting with my PSP, and it found the signal then gave me a message that that it couldn't connect with the IP. The type of encryption was supported, and the code for the security was correct, but I still cannot figure out why it won't work.
I successfully hooked up the signal, not the ethernet, through the Mac OS X system, and the Windows Vista Ultimate system which is installed through Bootcamp. I cannot figure out why, though, that the PSP won't connect.
Please help or explain what I might be doing wrong!!!!

Will airport express work with 3G wirelessly without access to Y Fi connection ? (usinmg an iPad )

I do not have wi Fi at work. Will airport express work with just the 3G on my Ipad2?

In addition to Keith's comments, if you are asking if the iPad can configure an Apple router like the AirPort Express, the answer would be yes, if you download and install AirPort Utility from the App Store. It's free.
I'm assuming that you have a newer version of the Express. Check the Model No on the side of the device. It needs to be A1264.

if you do not have an Ethernet Internet connection to connect to the Ethernet port on the Express, you can still use the Express to "Create a wireless network", but of course devices will not be able to connect to the Internet. The Express will complain, but you can ignore the error messages.
If your printer is wireless, hopefully it is an AirPrint compatible printer. Then you would be able to print from the iPad. Check this Apple Support document for information about compatible printers. There might be other applications that would allow this as well. Check Keith's post for that info.

Airport/TC working with MacBook Pro but not with my Mac Pro???

I've got a Time Capsule connected to a Westell Modem through AT&T. Needless to say; I've had a lot of issues with my setup but this one has my stumped.
After my network crashed a few days ago, I reset everything and got my Airport network running on my laptop. I cannot get it to work on my Mac Pro. My MP doesn't even see the Time Capsule when I run Airport Utility. It'll show the network on the Airport Icon at the top of the page and will even let me choose it when picking a network to connect to.
Anyone know what to do, please help!!!

On the Mac that won't connect using wireless:
Open System Preferences and click on Network
Click the Airport connection on the left
Click the Advanced button on the lower right
Look for the name of your wireless network and delete it using the - (minus) button at the bottom of the connection list. Delete any other networks that you do not need as well
Apply changes
Open Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access
Under the Kind column, look for any listings of Airport Network Password and delete them
Restart your computer
Keep your Mac close to the TC for now and click the AirPort icon at the top of the screen and try to log on to your wireless network.

Airport express works with windows xp but not OS Tiger

Hi all
I’m a troubled man.
I have recently bought a new Mac pro along with an airport express. I am a first time user of Mac’s.
Here is my problem.
I use a DSL modem and my airport express is connected with the LED indicator in solid green. When I try to connect using my user name and password the “searching for POPPE sever appears at the top of my screen.” And after a few seconds “could not find POPPE server. This happens all the time. I tried to get air tunes working but itunes could not detect my airport express.
Now since I’m an engineer I needed to run auto cad on my Mac so I downloaded Bootcamp, partitioned my Macpro hard drive and installed windows XP on my Mac book pro and to my surprise windows xp found my airport and connected to the server straight away. So I experimented and download the xp version of itunes and what do you know the xp version of itunes detected my airport express and everthing worked fine for Windows! This suggests to me that the problem lies with the mac software as the airport express is working fine. Whats going on! I do not understand.
When I go back to tiger it sees my airport but cannot connect. I run the airport assistant but it cannot detect my airport. I run the utility airport program but it cannot see my airport express. I go back to windows XP everything works fine???????
If you can come up with a solution to this strange problem I would be very grateful.

The user name and password may be just fine but the dialer software for OS X may be quirky to the point where it doesn't work with your modem through an Airport connection. My recommendation is to try uninstalling the DSL dialing software from the computer and setting up the Express to do the dialing for you. Your computer connection then becomes straight Ethernet.
If that doesn't work, have you checked to see if there's a newer version of the OS X dialing software available?

How to start working with BPEL[SOLVED]-but someone still can help me :)

I'm Fizzz, I'm totally new to BPEL. I don't know where to start and how to start.
Right now I'm Working with JDeveloper 11g R1. I didn't go further yet but Now i have to create some BPEL Process that can be integrated to my Web Application. There are some transaction to be Approved or Canceled from BPEL and if Transaction is Approved then i need to Update that Transaction to Peoplesoft's Database. I have 1 week to learn it. and then i need to start my work.
But i really don't know where to start? What do i need? And how to proceed?
Can Anybody suggest me the steps that i can follow to get Start with BPEL and done with Peoplesoft connectivity?
I would really appreciate your help.

Your Oracle Doc links are really very helpful. i would definitely go through these docs to get familiar with BPEL, But i have only one week to understand this part of technology.
So would request for any Live Example or How to's for Sample BPEL app creation and integration part of that. I would definitely read these document but i need some fast overview on these processes practically.
Can you please suggest me such things.

I have just update my MacBook to Snow Leopard 10.6.3. Unfortunately I can not now connect to the internet. I have a time capsule that is connected to a router. This is working with other devices but if I try to connect with the MB everything stops?

I have updated my MB to Snow Leopard 10.6.3 - I know this means I am a little behind the times but the problems I am now having seem to justify my reluctance. Now am unable to connect to the internet! I use a time capsule connected via a router. Everything is still OK with every other device (PC, I phone, Ipod) in the house so I know the "Network" is still enabled and there is no problem with the ISP. Strangley whenever I boot up the MB it appears to freeze the network such that the other devices also will then not access the internet. To regain access I have to turn off the MB and reset the router. Any help gratefully recieved as I have tried some of the ideas i have found in the internet but nothing is working. Thanks.

That's odd.
Try this: Unplug your Time Capsule and your router. On your MBP, click the Wi-Fi icon and select "Open Network Preferences".
Click the lock icon to authenticate, then click the "gear" and select "set service order". Wherever AirPort (or Wi-Fi - I forget what Snow Leopard calls it) appears, drag it elsewhere in the list. Click OK, then Apply, then power up your router and TC.
If that doesn't result in any change, repeat the above but try making the service(s) you do not need "inactive".
The purpose of this is to reset or at least change your Network Preferences, which somehow got confused upon upgrading to SL.

Using Kodak AiO 5500 over Airport Express- works on my Mac, but not on PC

The subject says it all, folks. Just got a new Airport Express 802.11n and hooked up both printers (Samsung ML-1740 and Kodak AiO 5500) with a powered USB hub. Both printers are visible in Airport Utility (and Bonjour Printer Services in Windows).
I'm running OS 10.6.3 on a MacBook Pro, 15" 2.4GHz Core2Duo system. On this system I can use both the Kodak and Samsung, no problem. But then on both of my parents' PCs only the Samsung printer works, although I can see both using Airport Utility and Bonjour Printer Service.
What the heck is going on??

I would perform the following steps for testing:
1. Disconnect the Samsung printer, so that just the Kodak printer is connected.
2. Disable the firewall at the Windows machine (the Windows one and all third party)
If that's successfull, you can
3. Re-enable the firewall and you probably need to allow traffic on port 9100 (not 100% sure about the exact port)
4. Re-connect the Samsung printer

Airport Express works with Bose radio, but not with my amp. Why?

Hello everyone.
I have a Bose Wave Radio that's about 10 years old. I'm able to connect it to my Airport Express via the 3.5mm jack/ RCA (red/white) cable.
I can stream Airtunes (from my Macbook Pro) into it fine, with normal functionality and volume control, including using Apple Remote on my iPhone 4.
Now the problem:
When I take that same red/white RCA cable (while it's streaming good music to the Bose), unplug it, and plug it into my amp (an old Kenwood), I can hear the music, but just barely. Even with all volume sliders all the way up, and the amp volume near max, the music is barely audible.
I've tried hard reset on the Express, and I've tried every possible RCA and speaker connection on the back of my amp.
Why does the Bose work normally, but my nice amp produces barely audible sound?
Is there a fix for this?

Based on the information in your post, you know two important things:
1) The AirPort Express is operating correctly
2) The cable/adapter that you are using is working correctly as well
So, the problem is with your amplifier. You don't have the Tape Monitor button pushed in, do you?
Have you checked the amplifer with other audio sources and cables? If you have an iPhone, iPod or any other similar audio device with an audio output jack, give that a try and see if you get the same results. If you do, this again confirms that the problem is with your amplifier, not the AirPort Express or your audio cable.

Router Problem - Works with Windoze, Linux, but not with Mac

I can't seem to get any router to work with my Mac.
I've tried a Linksys 'b' router, a Netgear 'g' router and a Belkin 'g' router.
No joy.
When I connect my Mac directly to my cable modem (Motorola Surfboard), there are no issues. When I connect the router in between, the Mac pulls the proper ip address and I can ping the router, but I can't get any further. If I try to ping an outside ip address (such as the 4.2.2.2 dns) I get the error message "ping: sendto: Cannot allocate memory". [Does anyone know what this message means?]
A second computer (IBM NetVista) connects reliably using Windoze XP. The same machine, booted in CentOS also connects reliably (after disabling the firewall).
Note, these are all wired connections. I'm not even trying to use wireless yet. The cables all check out, since they all work in other configurations (the Mac->router cable is the same one I use for Mac->Surfboard, and the router->surfboard cable works when connecting from the NewVista machine.
I thought the Mac problems might be firewall related. I had "Brickhouse" installed,but it has since been removed. My network settings no long advise that there is any firewall software in place (previously Sharing > Firewall was greyed out with message that other firewall software was installed). Sharing > Firewall now reports "Firewall Off".
I know the routers work, since I can connect from the NetVista machine. I know the cables are good, because they all work in other configurations. I know the Mac is seeing the router, and the router is seeing the Mac because a correct ip address is pulled. I can even communicate between the machines (ftp,ssh) but I can't get internet access using the Mac through the router.
Oh yeah... one other oddity. When I have personal web sharing enabled, an attempt to access the router setup page at 192.168.1.1 fetches the local server index.html page instead of accessing the router. When web sharing is off, I get a "you are not connected to the internet" message.
Any insight?

At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.

Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

Per chance is your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) an 802.11g model? If so, that is why you are getting this error message from the AirPort Utility running on the iPad. You would need to use either version 5.6 or 5.6.1 running on a Mac or a PC to administer this base station.

Why won't my airport express work with the latest iTunes, the airport shows green but there is no icon in iTunes any longer, what has gone wrong, desperate!!

A friend has helped me solve this problem, in my case it was nothing to do with Windows firewalls as some have suggested but it was simply a matter of resetting both the router and the Airport, the Airport is fairly obvious but not the router at least this was the first time I recall HAVING to reset it.

From there on, the left click will not give me the drop down menu in order to copy and then paste into an Excel sheet I then have to submit for the proofing purposes. After the one hour mark, I can only control/c in order to highlight, then when I slide up to my Excel sheet, I'm able to right click and paste. Why is the program not, all of a su allowing me to left cllick the mouse and have a drop down menu give me the option to "copy, " as it does for any time signature markers up to 1:00:00.000?

Which version of Audition? With the latest version of Audition running on a Windows 7 machine I can't get a dropdown menu at all when I left click on the time in Markers List. The only way to do it is with cntrl-c.
