Airport seems to be scanning almost all the time

Hi
I have searched the forum and not sure if my issue is part of a wider software problem. The symptom is that the Airport gives a message on both my iMAc and MacBook Airport:scanning. It then finds the network shows Airport: on but then very quickly starts to scan again. I have 5 bars for signal strength.
So my question is this a problem I have and needs fixing or more general one waiting for Apple?

It should only scan when you select the AirPort drop down menu. Anytime you do this it is going to scan for wireless networks in case you want to connect to one that has come online or gone offline since the last scan. That doesn't mean it is always scanning, it just means it is scanning anytime you use the drop down menu. This is normal.

The little connecting circle comes on and turns no matter what -- whether it's from a bookmark, an email, a typed in address. It turns and turns, then either times out or says problem loading page ALMOST all the time (I can't figure our why or why not). I just downloaded the latest versions of both Firefox & Thunderbird. It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Verizon's iPhone 4S is dropping the first call almost all the time?

Hi.
I have a verizon iPhone 4S.
Everytime I make the first call to someone, I don't hear anything.
When I end that call and try calling again, it works.
This has been happening almost all the time.
I tried letting the phone app turned on but it doesn't solve the problem.
I'm not sure if other carrier's iPhones are having this problem.
Does anyone know what the problem is to this?

What does that mean?
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem, restore.
If still a problem, take it in to Apple for a warranty replacement.
IMO, you'll probably end up taking it in to Apple but the other steps are worth trying.

If no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes from the iPhone's backup first followed by restoring as a new iPhone or not from the backup, make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

F1 Key seems to be constantly pressed all the time but it is not the key

My Envy DV7 was getting too hot so I decided to open it up and clean the fan myself ( After I cleaned the fan, It was very difficult for me to close it back, because the keyboard on this Pc is attached to the whole top so I had to take it to a laptop shop, so they can close it for me) When I finally got to close it the F1 key seemed to be pressed all the time when it is actually not, the thing is that it only happens when it first boots up after a while the laptop works just fine.

Macbook battery life, is there a problem If I keep it plugged almost all the time?

New Mac user here, so I was wondering if there's a problem if I keep my MBP plugged all the time.
Most of the time I'm on my room using my MBP fully charged and I don't disconnect it.
Is there a problem with my batter life if I do that?
Or it's recommended to unplug and use it till the battery run off and then charge it again?
Because I work a lot on my MBP and that way in a simple day I could charge it and run uff the energy of the battery 2 to 3 times at day.
What's better for the life of my battery?
And if you could give me some advices to maintenance my battery and Macbook pro (also programs) I would appreciate it.

No. I do that most of the time. Perhaps monthly I discharge it to the 40% level to keep the battery happy. Do not discharge the battery completely. If you are forced to use only battery power and you see the battery is low warning terminate your session or plug into AC if you can.

TextEdit Replaces sh with ti almost all the time.

When typing in TextEdit, I noticed that when the characters "sh" are typed in with a space after, most of the time the text will automatically be replaced with "ti" immediately after hitting space. I can spell out show, shim and other words, however, it did change shs to tis once.
Example:
Typed as: Enter sh
Shows as: Enter ti
This does not happen all the time. I have another guy in the office who was able to recreate the problem by typing sh sh sh continually. It happens in both RichText and PlainText settings. Auocorrection is turned off as well as spell check and text replacement. Using TextEdit v.1.6. Any ideas?

it has got to be text replacement or autocorrection. nothing else could do this. quit text edit and trash the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.textedit.plist then start textedit and see if it still does this. if yes then quit text edit and run the following command in terminal
rm ~/library/preferences/.Global*
then log out/in and try TextEdit again.

I am losing wifi signal at my ipad 2 almost all the time

although i have strong wifi signal around my place my ipad 2 is loosing the signal all the time. i didn't face that kind of problem with my ipad 1.

New MBP seems to run hot & fan runs almost all the time

I've had my MBP for just about a week now. It's the new, 15", 2.2 GHz model. It's great, but I notice that it runs hotter than my Powerbook G4 did and the fan is almost always on. It's presently sitting on a wooden topped table. My house is not AC-ed, but the air temp is about 70 F/21 C today. Seems to run hot in my AC-ed faculty office too, when I am there. What is "normal" for this machine. TIA.

Ditto what Ned says. To be sure, 80 C is not too hot (it is the temp that the MBP is designed to maintain as a working maximum), but that you are experiencing this temp at all times indicates that something is pushing the processor at all times.
That is not normal. As has been suggested, have a look at Activity Monitor. If you are not doing anything of any consequence at the time, your CPU usage should be very, very low, and processes that you see using CPU intermittently (there will be many of these processes) should only use a small percentage when they use any at all.

Imac g5 fan seems to run on high all the time now

My imac all the sudden started running at warp speed lately, is there some way i can check something to find out why the fan runs at almost full blast while doing normal stuff?
safari open and mail and maybe itunes but not playing anything causes a loud fan whine

Is Spotlight running? You can tell by the little white dot in the middle of its magnifying glass.
To remove an application entirely, I use AppZapper, and generally do a follow up in Spotlight, although I have found that is has usually removed any trace of the deleted app.

Fan runs at max almost all the time on a 2.16GHz MacBook Pro

My fans are running at 6000 rpm for no reason. I've noticed this for a while but now I realize something is wrong.
I tried resetting the SMC (pulled the battery, held power button down for 5 seconds) and no luck. As soon as I turn it on and it comes up with the log in screen, the fans are running at 6000 rpm. I have 51 processes running right now and the one using the most cpu is activity monitor at about 2 to 4 ('m assuming percent).
I'm wondering if there is another way to reset the SMC on a 2.16GHz MBP?
And has anybody else had a similar problem?
Should I redownload and reinstall the firmware update for this model, I think I recall a while back a fan firmware update for it?

I've had the same problem.
On my 2.16 C2D MBP it was the thermal sensor of the GPU's heatsink that was intermittendly losing connection (you can see that in programs like Temperature Monitor and Hardware Monitor).
I opened up my MBP and reseated all the little sensor connectors I could see and now it works again...
First I'd run Apple Hardware Test from the installation DVD, it may throw an error that you could post.

S10-3t. Help, my computer crash & blue screen almost all the time

I have problem with my new bought S10-3t, it comes with pre-installed win 7 home premium. I am not sure if it is coming from the hardware or software, but it does crash and blue screen a lot and almost every time. Especially when I am trying to update windows (it always require me to reset it back to factory setting after did this).
Btw, I have uninstall some of the bloated software that came with the system and I also installed Norton Internet Securtiy on it. I have also done one recovery restore many times and the problem still persist. Now I am wondering either I should return it back to lenovo or keep it because I am sure its going to be a hassle to return it back

Systems should be tolerant of some software changes - not know what all you have removed, how you removed it (deleting files vs uninstall) and when the problems started in relation to the changes you made it's going to be difficult to provide an easy answer.
You say you've used OKR.   Have you shutdown the system and started up with the recover button and selected the option to restore to factory state?   If it won't do this, then either the hard disk is corrupted and you are going to need service, or you have a memory or systemboard issue in which case you are going to need service.
I would recommend trying to recover completely to factory state, and failing that, to call technical support and log your case. (save the WNxxxxx number).   If service recommends repair, you can either send it to the depot and see if they can fix it, or contact sales and arrange for a replacement. In order to work through sales, you will need to have called service and have that service case number handy.

After the last update there seem to be po-ups all the time. Was that expected or do I have a problem?

Currently get pop-ups opening working from home web sites and sites identifying windows problems. Also adds appear on the screens of sites I have open. I did not have this problem prior to latest update but like to know it is not a Firefox problem.

hello keno24, the behaviour you've described should not be caused by a firefox update but by adware/malware on your pc, please perform the following steps:
# [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this wil keep your bookmarks and passwords)
# afterwards go to firefox > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there (except the ones relating to the norton security program on your system), disable them.
# finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
