Airport Seems to lose connection.

I have 3 computers:
Powerbook G4 Airport Card
Dell 700m, Intel 2200BG card
Dell 8300, Microsoft MN-710 card
and Airport Extreme, with WEP.
My 8300 connects without any problems.
My 700m sees the network but will not connect at all.
My Powerbook drops the connection every 3 minutes or so.
This makes no sense to me. My next logical step would be to remove any encryption and try it wide open, but that would not be a solution, more a troubleshooting step.
Also checking the logs for the Airport, it shows that it ends soft reset mode almost 2 times a minute, however the light stays green.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello mbenzgoodyear. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
To first rule out anything amiss with the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), let's take a look at another potential area that may be causing the problems that you are seeing.
It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference in the immediate area that is preventing you from getting a good clean signal to each of your devices.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like KisMAC, MacStumbler, iStumbler, or IPNetMonitorX to determine potential areas of interference...and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them.

  • Airport Express seems to lose connection after a while

My main wifi connection is through an Airport Extreme. The modem is connected to it. I also have in another room an airport express that I use as a bridge for my connection and also to use AirTunes.
Since a few weeks, the Airport Express seems to lose it's connexion after some use. It's always good in the morning, and after few hours, I realize I am no longer connected to the network. The airport light is always green, I see it in my disk utility, but I don't seem to be able to go online anymore. My solution at this point is to select my neighbor's network for few seconds, when I go back on my network, it works fine for an hour or so and I have to redo the process again.
The issue seems to be only with the Airport Express because when I'm in the other end of my house close to my Airport Extreme, I never have that problem.
Any idea what could be wrong with my Airport Express? Could it be a hardware problem? I just bought it 2 months ago. Should I go to exchange it?
    Thanks for any help.

My AirPort connection worked fine when I first set it up a couple of days ago; then it stopped working yesterday: it just gives me the blinking amber light.
Strangely, though, when I use Network Diagnostics in Safari, I get green lights against Airport, Airport Settings, Network Settings, and ISP, but red lights against Internet and Server.
How can ISP be working but not Internet and Server? Also, if I pull out the the cable going into the AirPort and plug it directly into the LAN port on the MacBook, it connects to the internet fine.
    Any comments/help appreciated.

  • Videoplayer seems to lose connection

    Hi,
for a long time now I am searching for the right solution.
The mediaplayer is working very well, but after finishing the videoplay(complete event) and waiting a while (about 10 minutes) the player refuses to start again. When I set the videopath again everything works fine, but I cannot use my controlls like play or seek. I was not able to find the error. The only thing is, that the videoplayer don't finishes bufferung when this error occurs. The videos are called from FMS via RTMP. When I am not waiting this long time, I can use all my controlls when the video is finished.
I could set the videopath again like I said above, but I am not able to track the error situation to do so.
You may tell me where I have overseen something? Thank you very much.
    Chris

    Hi,
    thank you for your answer.
I added a netStatus listener and found out, that I don't get any codes except "NetConnection.Connect.Closed" when I change the VideoelEment. What I found out is, when I wait more than 10 minutes after playing finished and then try to seek within the video I get "NetConnection.Connect.Closed". Maybe the timeout event is missing or something?
Do I need to keep the connection alive by myself to remove this problem?
    Thank you for your help,
    Chris
    Edit:
There is no NetConnectionFactoryEvent.CREATION_ERROR or MediaErrorEvent.MEDIA_ERROR event fired at the moment where the player seems to lose the connection. Even play calls don't cause any error.

  • Airport Extreme intermittently loses connection with Internet?

I have an Airport Extreme connected to a router that is connected to our cable modem. Internet connection is fine, but the Airport Extreme will intermittently lose connection with the Internet and shows a solid amber light. Turning the Airport Extreme off and then on again will resolve the issue, however, this happens about once per week (at different days/times) and would like to ensure a consistent connection even when I'm not at home. (We are thinking of installing a lighting control system that depends upon a consistent wireless connection to work properly, even when we aren't home to restart the Airport Extreme). Please advise on what the trouble might be and how we can get a permanent resolution to the issue.

Is your Extreme an 802.11g (domed-shape) or 802.11n (squarish) model? Do you have the Extreme connected to the other router by Ethernet? Finally, is the Extreme configured as a bridge, i.e., Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)?

  • AirPort Express restarts/loses connection ?

I got a Time Capsule, and AirPort Express and an iMac. The last two were bought a month ago.
The way it's configured, the Time Capsule is the main base, and the AirPort Express is extending the signal of the Time Capsule so it reaches the iMac. The problem is that, even tho it works at the beginning, for some reason after a couple of minutes the AirPort Express goes from full green to blinking orange, and it disappears from the iMac.
I thought it would be the range so I placed the AirPort Express a bit closer to the Time Capsule, but it didn't work as well.
Then we tried a similar setup somewhere else (AirPort Extreme and the AirPort Express extending the AirPort Extreme), and it worked fine.
What could be the issue? In the first location, even tho the bases aren't close, the distance doesn't seem that big, and there are walls in between (maybe four or so), but there's a hallway that connects both areas, AND the room where both of the wireless bases are aren't completely closed.
I read somewhere that the problem is that, since the AirPort Express doesn't have any cable connected, after a while it goes into some sort of sleep mode? But it wouldn't make sense because most people that want to extend their bases wouldn't connect a cable in the base that is extending (cable doesn't reach the base)?

    Welcome to the discussions!
If you are still interested in extending the Time Capsule wireless network, you first need to take some signal strength measurements to determine whether you have an adequate signal for the AirPort Express to function correctly.
Keep the Express powered off for now.
Download a utility like iStumbler and move your laptop to the area where the AirPort Express would be located.
Run iStumbler to get an accurate picture of your 1) signal strength, and 2) noise on the network. You may be surprised that the actual signal strength is less than you might have thought...especially if you have been looking at the "bars" at the top of your computer screen.
You should be aware that the "bars" are there pretty much for show and they tell you nothing about potential noise problems on your network.
You may need to experiment a bit to find a location for the Express with a good signal. You want to show at least 50% signal strength...more is better...and ideally less than 10% noise at the location where the Express will be installed.
So, how does it look there?

  • LaserJet P2015d seems to lose connection with computer; I have to power cycle the printer

I purchased the LaserJet P2015D in March 2008 and have been pleased with it.  However in the last several weeks it seems that my computer "loses" it, like it is not connected.  I issue the print commance from my computer, I see the document in the printer cache, but it never goes to the printer.  I can fix this by power cycling the printer, i.e., unplugging it and plugging it back in.  After this, the cached document gets released and printed.  This works most of the time.  Sometimes I have to delete the cached document and re-issue the print  command.  My computer will see the printer for an hour or two and then I have to apply the  fix again.  And then in the last couple of days the toner warning light has come on constantly, and I'm pretty sure the toner cartridge is not empty.  The print quality remains good.
I suspect a hardware problem, like a component (capacitor?) has failed.  Are spare parts available and how can I buy them?  Can anyone recommend specifically what parts might be needed?

  • Built in Airport Extreme constantly loses connection

    Hi,
I know a lot has been written about the recent airport firmware update where people have lost their reliable connections and I think I have suffered with this as well. My Netgear modem/router sits downstairs and my mac upstairs so there is a distance of about 30ft max (direct of course a bit less). When I purchased my iMac 2.5weeks ago I also logged into the internet without a problem and since the update it's all gone. My windows laptop can connect from exactly the same place and so when I moved my iMac to within 4 ft of the router it worked. Of course having an iMac in your hallway is not the best solution.
So eventually my question, what sort of range does the built-in airport have?
I can connect sometimes but it will go away again and maybe come back...it's a bit like a sulky teenager. Even last night I did a speed test on both the mac and windows laptop and the laptop got double the download speed as the Mac! That's got to be a first.
I would like to move the netgear upstair but my phone engineer says the best speeds I can achieve is through the main telephone socket.

I am having the problem of intermittent loss of signal even when I am sitting right next to the airport. I have 2 macs running off the airport and I have no problems for hours on end and then suddenly, my brand new macbook drops the connection and doesn't show the airport listed at all. If I wait a few minutes, it is back in full force to be selected but i must go in and select it. My old imac is downstairs further from the airport than my macbook and it never loses the signal. It will show the airport when the macbook does not.

  • Why does Airport Extreme frequently lose connection to ISP?

Today my Airport Extreme purchased in March 2011 has lost connection to the internet 4 times.  I have had to reboot it each time to resume using the internet.  Does this indicate a problem with this new airport exteme.  If so do I return it to an Apple Store for repair or replacement?

Today my Airport Extreme purchased in March 2011 has lost connection to the internet 4 times.  I have had to reboot it each time to resume using the internet.  Does this indicate a problem with this new airport exteme.
Possibly, but it may also indicate that the communication between the modem and the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) is faulty.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • DI and SQL seem to lose connection with each other

Hello Everyone, thanks for taking the time to read my question.
I am getting the following error
System call failed. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010100 (RPC_E_SYS_CALL_FAILED))
i am running a very big Store Procedure which takes about 15 minutes to run outside of SAP and works well.
when i put this call through the DI using a recordset the code seems to run fine but after the 8 or 9 minute i get the above error.
My question is it seems that the recordset has a timed out.
Is there any way around this?
so far i have tried using Native SQL vb calls without luck same error Sql has reached a timeout even if i put timeout=0 within the connection string.
i have had this issue before and simply deleting temporary folders would help. but this time it happens constantly.
Thanks for any information you may have

    Hi Jbrotto,
Thanks for your suggestion, i have come to the same conclusion but have yet to try it. the reason i am hesitant is when the data grows what will happen? would i have to break it down even more?
    Thanks again Jbrotto

  • Envy 100 410a seems to lose connection after a few minutes.

When I first turn on the Envy, each of my devices (Mac Book Air, iPad, and iPhone) talk to it just fine.  But after a few minutes, each of these devices no longer can see the wireless printer.  So, I just turn the printer off and back on and then it works for a few moments until it loses contact again.
Our Windows 7 machine (which talks through the router to the printer) seems to be working just fine.
This was working swell until we installed the new router.

  • My Photosmart Plus printer seems to lose connectivity when in sleep mode, how can I fix this?

My new photosmart plus appears to loose it's connection when it goes to sleep. At least the printers status page online says it's not connected, even though it is visible in my router and the blue light next to the antenna of the printer is on. It also appears to be connected when I poke around in the printer's settings, but if I want to print something from an app or via e-mail I have to run the wireless wizard again, select my netgear and enter the password. Once connected I get a screen where I supposedly can skip printing a report, but that does not work either, it prints no matter what I select, waste of paper and ink.
I searched around but found no solution that would work for me.
    Tech info:
wireless conection to my cable modem with Netgear router
Macbook pro and an older HP laptop are in use.
    Security is WPA2-PSK [AES]
I like the machine a lot, but this is rather anoying, what can I do to keep the connection when the printer sleeps?
    (edited to add security info)
    This question was solved.

Does the printer not wake from sleep for both the Mac and PC?
You may want to try setting a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP.  Enter the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Hyper-V Guest Server 2012 R2 Loses Connectivity Intermittently Every Week

    Hello,
We have been having this issue for some time now and getting frustrated. We have a Server 2012 R2 Host running on a HP ML350 G8. It is running a Server 2012 R2 Guest using Hyper-V. The guest OS is attached to its own NIC on the HP Server (which comes with
    4 NICS built it)
Every week, the guest server seems to lose connectivity to everything. The guest server is still on but all devices on the network can no longer access the shares or even ping the server.
To fix this, the ethernet cable of the NIC connected to the guest is disconnected from the switch and then reconnected. The host server is running fine throughout.
Why does this keep happening? It seems to happen like clockwork every week Thursday afternoon!

    Hi Sir,
Based on my experience , first you may need to keep the physical NIC driver up-to-date .
Also please check if there is "VMQ"/"virtual machine queue" property in advanced properties of physical NICs:
If yes please disable it for each team member then check the result .
    Best Regards,
    Elton Ji

  • Airport express loses connection and blinks amber until restarted many times a day.

I have an AirPort Extreme as my,main router with a gen 1 airport express and 2 gen 2 express as range extenders to cover all 3 floors and outdoor area.  I have an Insteon HUB connected to one 2nd generation express and an Insteon IP camera that is on the far edge of the WiFi coverage area.  About 3-5 times daily, the express will blink amber and lose connection.  I need to either restart the network from airport utility or just unplug and restart the specific express. This fixes the problem but only temporarily.  Why does this occur?  Is it due to the wireless camera losing connection?  It seems to occur when I try to access the camera or devices thru the Insteon App.  I have purchased the additional express thinking it was a poor connection to the other range extender but this has made no difference.  I have been on tech support with Insteon for many hours, and they are unable to help.  Any suggestions?

Hello Daniel Epps. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Every few minutes, it seems to temporarily lose its connection to the internet and start flashing amber until it reconnects. It's extremely annoying. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it an airport problem, or a cable modem problem?
It could be either or neither ...
It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference in the immediate area that is preventing you from getting a good clean signal, and what I would check for first.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like the following to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible:

I have an iMac (Mid 2010) and am running 0sx 10.8.5 and the WiFi always loses connection during sleep mode. I have seen numerous different solutions none of which seem to work. Can anyone help?

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
    3. Reset the PRAM.
    4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    9. Reset the System Management Controller.
    10. This step shouldn't be necessary, but has been advised by Apple Support in some cases, apparently as a workaround for a bug. Open the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences. If applicable, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner to unlock the settings. Enter your administrator login password when prompted.
Select the Power Adapter tab and uncheck the boxes marked
              Wake for Wi-Fi network access
    and
              Enable Power Nap...
if present. Then, if the computer is a MacBook, select the Battery tab and uncheck
              Enable Power Nap...
    11. Reinstall OS X.

  • Airport loses connection with MR814 V2

I have an iBook G4. My Airport loses connection with my Netgear MR814 V2 router. The only way to get it back is to unplug / plugin the router. The connection is ok as long as I'm on the iBook. The problem seems to occur after I've shut the iBook down for the day and then the next day the connection is gone.
I also have my Windows based Dell laptop using the router (wirelessly) and never have this problem.
This is really frustrating. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

I do not have the answer for you, but I am suffering the same thing with my macBook Pro. After about 15 minutes, I loses the connection, and the airport icon in the menu bar goes transparent. Nothing works to renew the connection except to unplug and re-plug my router. If you hear of any remedy, please post.
