Airport shuts off and won't turn back on

I have a MacBook Air and a Time Capsule base station that have worked beautifully since I bought them last summer. Over the past couple of weeks, however, Airport has started shutting down within minutes of my starting to use the wireless connection (via Safari or iTunes) and refuses to turn back on.
The base station itself seems fine, with a glowing green light. The only way I can start Airport again is to restart the computer. Airport is always on after restart, finds my network quickly, and then shuts off again as soon as I begin to use it.
I've tried the usual maintenance: Used Onyx to repair permissions, etc. Dragged the Airport pref file to the trash. Removed unnecessary Login items. Nothing helped.
The problem seemed to start around the time of the Airport Utility software update, the Safari beta (which I uninstalled) and the latest version of iTunes. Could the Airport update be the problem? Should I revert to the prior software? If so, what's the best way to do this?
Many thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I do have Time Machine, but didn't need it to restore the earlier software for both the MBA and base station.Unfortunately, that didn't help. And Apple Hardware Test found nothing wrong.
Other things I tried (with the help of Apple support):
-resetting PRAM and SMC
-setting up a new wireless location in network preferences
I'll bring it to a Genius tomorrow and see if they can figure it out. The next step might be a reinstall.

  • My iPhone 5s has just shut off and won't turn back on. Please help?

I was just chatting on a app and the phone just froze, went to a white screen with the apple trade mark. Then it completely shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I tried charging it and it still won't turn back on.

Thanks for the advice but I've tried this it hasn't worked. I've held down both buttons together for more than a minute. Do I have to hold them down longer than this?

  • Macbook air randomly shuts off and won't turn back on

I have a 2011 Macbook Air that was given to me by my sister. She told me about a year ago she spilled water on the keyboard and it stopped working for a while. She took it to apple and they told her it was going to cost 700 dollars to replace so she decided not to. After a while the laptop randomly turned back on and started working fine. I ended up getting it as a free gift and it was working perfectly fine for about a month and a half until recently it randomly shut off on me. After it shuts off, it wouldn't turn back on through pressing the power button I left it alone and after a day it randomly turned back on and worked like normal. After about 15 minutes of use it randomly shuts down and won't turn back on. I tried resetting SMC to no avail. It randomly turns on for about 15 minutes before it feels like it gets slightly hot and shuts off. Any help will be great!

Try running an Apple Hardware Test:

If you find you can't, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be free and then you should know what the problems are with your MBA.
    Ciao.

  • IPad shut off and won't turn back on. Any suggestions ?

I have the first IPad. My iPad shut off at 72 percent battery life and won't turn back on.
Any suggestions on what I can do ? Is it fixable ? Do I need a new Battery ?

    Not charging.
    1. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo
    2. Try another wall socket
    3. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)
    4. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)
    5. Clean Lightning port with compress air or new paint brush

  • My ipod shut off and won't turn back on.

My ipod shut off for no reason, it had a full charge but it just shut off and it won't come back on and when I plug in in to my computer nothing happens, this happened before and I played with the buttons till it came on but it's not working this time.  Any Advice?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • G560 Shut off and won't turn back on

I have a G560 with an Intel i5 Processor and 4gbs of RAM
Last night I was watching a movie, with the AC adapter plugged in, when the laptop suddenly shut off. I tried to turn it back on and the LED light blinked once and shut off. AC adapater was working as the yellow light was on.
I then unplugged the AC adapater and tried just the battery. Same thing, LED blinked but then shut off and the computer didnt make a sound. Took out the battery and put it back in. Tried it with the AC plugged in and unplugged, same thing. I let it charge overnight . Nothing this morning.

  • My iMac shut off and won't turn back on.

My 27' iMac I bought in March just shut off for no reason and won't come back on.  I have tried open sockets on my power strip but no juice.  I was working on photoshop when it happened.  It doesn't smell like anything has burned up, but this is my first Mac.

i would do an SMC reset the following article tells how to do this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
if it still won't power up after this reset i would take to apple store or service provider to have it repaired. the following link shows how to find these close to you:
