  • Airport (TIme Capsule) not connecting to iMAC running windows XP

I have an iMAC that runs both OS X and Windows. My router is an airport (Time Capsule)
I can wirelessly access the router when running OS X, but when I run Windows XP I can not. If I plug the cable from the cable modem directly into the iMAC when running XP, it works fine.
The airport (Time Capsule) shows up in the wireless setting with a strong signal, but when I try to connect to it; I get "Wireless router is out of range". The airport sits next to the computer.
    Any suggestions.

What type of radio mode and encryption are you using?
Are you using 802.11n 5GHz mode for example?

  • WLAN Verbindungsproblem iPad zur neuen AirPort Time Capsule!

    Hallo liebe Community!

Set the wireless name differently for 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
The 2.4ghz name at least should be short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. (IMHO all names should follow that standard)
Set a fixed wireless channel.. test a few, 11, 6, 1 in that order. If you live in a place with loads of wireless around you, 8 can also be a good choice.
The iphone and printer can only use 2.4ghz.
The MBA and iPad .. depending on model might be using 5ghz.
Make sure the security is set to wpa2 personal with a 10-20 character password.. also pure alphanumeric.

  • AirPort Time Capsule disappears from network

I purchased an AirPort Time Capsule (2T) and installed it to our home network. We have Verizon Fios, are connected to the internet via the Verizon router, etc. I installed the Time Capsule per the instructions and our 2 MacBook airs found the Time Capsule. So did our IPads. I also connected our 2 IPhones to the newly created Wi-Fi network.
My main, home PC did find the Time Capsule, which is why I originally purchased the unit - to provide Wi-Fi back-up for our files, music, pictures, etc. Once found, I also changed my PC Wi-Fi settings to use my new network to connect to the internet.
I also copied some of my files to the 'data' section of the Time Capsule - the pictures took 8 hours to copy. Afetr completing this, I put my PC into hibernate and went to bed.
The next morning, my PC did not find or connect to the Time Capsule, but it is using the Time Capsule Wi-Fi for internet connections.
The Time Capsule appeared on it's own after about 15 minutes, but will not appear now and I do not know how to find it to re-connect and be found by my main HP PC. I have rebotted my PC several times and this does not work. I have also tried changing back to my old Wi-Fi connection and then re-connecting to the new network - also does not find the Time Capsule.
Does anyone know what I have to do so that the AirPort Time Capsule shows and is connected all of the time to the network, as seen by my main PC?
My MacBook airs seem to stay connected.
    Thanks,
    Jim

No, I did not know this and am installing it as I type.
I did notice that when I first re-boot my PC from the hibernate mode, the Time Capsule is not there in my network, but shows up in about 10 to 20 minutes (estimate). It has shown up each and every time I have used the PC. Awfully strange - when I commented on this forum originally, it did not show up for an hour or so; thus, I asked for help. Now - it shows up each time even if late or takes some time to discover.
Thus, I believe there might be some sort of 'search and find' function, that adds the wi-fi capable Time Capsule once found.
As long as it keeps showing up, as it is now, even if late, I will live with it.
I have been out of hibernate mode for about 10 minutes now - I just looked and Time Capsule is there.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

  • How to connect New Airport Time Capsule to non Apple asdl router

    Guys,
I have just purchased a new AirPort Time Capsule to back up the various macs in my house. I want to connect it to my wireless router which is a non apple product but the setup instructions are a little unclear to me.
My current router has simply a phone line connector and the power source coming into it. Do I simply connect an ethernet cable from the Airport to the Router. And if so, do I use the single Ethernet WAN port or one of the three Ethernet LAN ports on the rear of the airport? I assume the other end of the cable goes into any of the Ethernet slots on the back of my router which are marked 'Ethernet', or would it go into the socket marked 'Broadband WAN'?
Appreciate your help and if anyone is willing to speak on phone, I am very ahppy to call you in the next couple of hours! I am in the UK
    Best, Anthony

    thanks LaPastengue!
    Here is what ive got
What ATT router do you have? Exact make and model please.
        gateway 2wire from at&t
What TC do you have.. Latest AC tall one?? Or older one?? If older. .please tell us the model number. A1409 for example from the base mat.
yes I have the latest airport time capsule 2TB
Please tell us the full setup.. what is currently plugged into the main modem router??
The Main modem route has an ethernet cord plugged in the other side of the cord is plugged into the phone      jack
Do not plug the TC in first.. plug a single ethernet TC to the computer.. Hmm. so I need an additional ethenet cord to plug the TC into the computer? Leaving the router plugged in as is?
Open the airport utility and change the TC to bridge mode.

Update the TC and then plug it into the ATT modem and plug it into your computer or use the wireless and then tell us what happens.

  • How can I put my itunes library on my Airport Time Capsule 3TB and still play thru Apple TV?

I am trying to free up space on my 1TB iMac and would like to put iTunes/burned movies/music to Airport Time Capsule 3tb. At the same time I would like tobe able to play said media through my Apple TV.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.

  • I am using SURPLUSMETER :) I am also using Apple Airport Time Capsule as my Router that is connected to my Satellite dish Internet Modem ... Now on the Surplusmeter I have the option for PPP Modem . Ethernet Port , Airport , Network Card ,

I am using SURPLUSMETER I am also using Apple Airport Time Capsule as my Router that is connected to my Satellite dish Internet Modem ... Now on the Surplusmeter I have the option for PPP Modem . Ethernet Port , Airport , Network Card , & Adaptor .
Which one can I use properly to monitor all the wireless Devices in my hous

Actually, none of the options will do what you are looking for it to do. That is because, this application only monitors the traffic from the device it is hosted on. That would also mean that you would have to run a copy on each computer that will access the Internet on your network; note their individual usages, and then, combine them to get an idea of the total usage.
However, if you are only interested in the amount of Wi-Fi traffic that only your computer is seeing, then the "AirPort Network Card" option would be the correct choice.

  • I set up a new airport time capsule. Most devices work fine however now my apple tv 2nd gen won't work.

I set up a new airport time capsule. Most devices connected fine however now my apple tv 2nd gen won't work. I turn it on and it searches for time and date but goes no further. I can't by pass it either. Any suggestions?

I can't by pass it either. Any suggestions?
Does that mean you cannot move it to the TC and plug in by ethernet? What does bypass mean?
I would still move it closer to the TC.. and just trial it there. Range on some AC models for 2.4ghz is worse than old one. For some people.
Another thing to try is fixed wireless channels.. one of the very few options still available in the AC model.. lock the 2.4ghz to 11, 6, 1 .. try it in that order.

  • I have a Airport Time Capsule 2T, I would like to know if it is possible to backup all my apple divides (iMac, iPhone and iPad)?

I have a Airport Time Capsule 2T, I would like to know if it is possible to backup all my apple divides (iMac, iPhone and iPad)?

The iMac can back up to the Time Capsule, but iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad back up to either iTunes on your Mac....or....to iCloud.
If the iPhone and iPad back up to iTunes on your Mac, then when the iMac backs up the iOS backups are sent to the Time Capsule as well.  So, the iPhone and iPad back up indirectly to the Time Capsule.
The iPhone and iPad cannot back up directly to the Time Capsule.
For more information on iOS backups, see this Apple support document:

  • Today Apple retail unit sold me Airport Time Capsule. Now trying to install on my Mac which runs OSX10.6.8. Seems I should have newer OSX and Airport Utility version. What can I do please?

Today Apple retail unit/shop in sold me Airport Time Capsule. Now trying to install on my 21 inch iMac which runs OSX10.6.8. Seems I should have newer OSX and also newer Airport Utility version (mine is 5.6.1). What can I do, please? So much looking forward to using Time Capsule. It is not at all readable on box. Now with a magnified glass I can just about make out the installation requirements printed in tiny print at the bottom/base of the box! I have tried software update etc etc and to download Airport Utility update from Apple website. This was unsuccessful because of OSX, I gathered. Appreciate any similar experience and how it was resolved. Thank you. Tr

You need OS X 10.7.5 or later. Most likely you can upgrade OS X on your iMac. You already have 10.6.8 and access to the App Store. If your computer qualifies to run Mavericks, then that is what you would upgrade to, otherwise, you would upgrade to Lion.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?

  • HT4259 Can I not use this Apple Airport Time Capsule with my Netgear AC router to for a mesh basic service set?

I just purchased a 2 TB Airport Time Capsule...I guess I to excited to fully look into things
my intent was to simply provide good internets to my downstairs and hopefully out to the garage. The plan was to Buy this Airport TC and form up a MBSS (Mesh Basic Service Set) which is basicaly and Extended Service Set..but without the wires.
I see guides to do it, however I see no guide including an Apple product communicating with another brand...
    any help would be appriciated
I currently have a NETGEAR R6200 AC router upstairs in my office, I seem

Apple uses proprietary settings that are designed to only allow other Apple devices to connect to "extend" a network wirelessly.
Occasionally, we do see a post from a user who claims to have beat the system, but unfortunately it never seems to provide any details on exactly how this was accomplished.
If you find a way, please let us know.

  • Apple TV in Verbindung mit Airport Time capsule verwenden?

    Danke!

I don't know if this will help but perhaps it's worth trying to set a static IP for each of your devices.

  • Apple TV connected to cable with AirPort Time Capsule

    Hello,
I would use exclusively AirPort Time Capsule to store movies and music to the Apple TV not connected to the Internet. Is it possible?
    Massimo

Where the content is stored is really up to the user, but it must be in the iTunes library on a computer on the same network with that computer on and iTunes running.
If the content is acquired via iTunes or has some type of DRM protection (most iTunes content does) it requires and Internet connection to play.

  • Airport time capsule will not communicate with apple tv

I have just purchased the new AIRPORT TIME CAPSULE...it will not communicate with my APPLE TV..

Is the Time Capsule the only wireless router in your current network configuration? That is, is it connected directly to an Internet modem (and not another router) via Ethernet? Is the Apple TV in the same room, different room, or different floor from the Time Capsule?

  • I have just got an Airport time Capsule for back up how do I do it? Do I put the ethernet cable into the back of my sky hub because when I do that the amber light on my Time Capsule flashes amber. Please talk in simple terms as I am a

I have just got an Apple Airport time capsule to back up my one year old iMac......how do I do it? I have tried putting an ethernet cable into the time capsule and to my sky hub, all I get is a flashing amber light, can anyone help I am a silver surfer not used to Apple products, but love them, plus I don't understand half of the jargon....HELP please

Apple's Setup Guide for the Time Capsule is pretty simple and clear for most users, and you don't indicate at what point or step that you are getting stuck.
So, please go to page 8 in your Setup Guide to review the topic of Plugging In Your AirPort Time Capsule.
The Sky hub will likely have 4 Ethernet <--> ports on the back of the device. Pick any one that you want and connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the port that you choose.
Then, connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN (circle of dots) port as shown in the Setup Guide.
Continuing with the instructions on page 8 of the Setup Guide, power up the Time Capsule by connecting the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule to a wall AC jack.
Note that the instructions indicate that the indicator light will be solid amber during startup, and it will change to blinking amber during the setup. The light will remain blinking amber until you have configured the Time Capsule at which time the light will turn green.
Next, go to page 12 of the Setup Guide to see the information to Use your Mac or iOS device to set up your AirPort Time Capsule.
You indicated in your tag line that you were using OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), and since that will exceed the minimum requirement of a Mac using OS X (10.7.5) as noted in the guide, you can use your Mac to set up the Time Capsule.
Continuing with the instructions on page 12 of the Setup Guide......
    1. Open AirPort Utility on your Mac.  It is located as follows:  Finder (the smiley face on the dock) > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    2. Select your AirPort Time Capsule and click Continue. You won't be able to do this, but read further......If you do not see the AirPort Time Capsule that you want to configure, choose it from the WiFi status menu in the menu bar, at the top of the screen.
So, clicking on the WiFi icon will yield a small window that looks like this:
The example below shows an AirPort Extreme.  You will see Time Capsule on your screen. Click on Time Capsule.
When you click on Time Capsule, that will get the setup wizard going. it will take a minute to analyze the network, then display a screen that looks similar to the illustration below, except that you will see a picture of a Time Capsule on your screen
    3. Continuing with the Setup Guide.......Follow the onscreen prompts to create a new network
Network Name...........Type in a simple name that you want to call your network. Do not use the suggested name.
Base Station Name....Type in a simple name that you want to call the Time Capsule.  Mine is TC, for example.
Password...................Type in a password that will be used for both the network and the Time Capsule.  Write that down.
Verify..........................Type in the password again to Verify
    Click Next
The setup wizard will configure everything for you. When you see the message of Setup  Complete, click Done.
The Time Capsule is now set up and it will display a green light.
