Airport Turning itself off after 10.5.7 Update

Ever since the updated to 10.5.7 my MBP is acting crazy with lock ups and airport turning itself off. The only fix I can find for this is to reboot the Macbook Pro and then it will work again for a few minutes before turning itself off. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Thank you for the link.
It's deliciously ironic that I'm typing this reply for the second time now because after composing it the first time, and failing to glance at the Airport connection icon first, I clicked "Post Message" and received "Safari cannot open the page http://discussions.apple.com/... because your computer isn't connected to the internet" and after refreshing the page lost what I had written (should have tried the back button first).
Lovely.
As I was saying, I have little confidence that Apple will find or fix the problem in a timely fashion. Yes, maybe they will, but there are other examples (wireless keyboard and mouse connectivity under Leopard) where they took months or longer to release a fix, so I'm thinking I don't want to hold my breath, especially if this issue is only affecting a small portion of the population (I haven't heard a loud hew and cry from the masses).
I'm not looking forward to rolling back either, and given my current lack of free time I may reluctantly wait for the next update just to see if it addresses the issue, especially since after I go to the trouble of rolling back to 10.5.6 I don't know when, if ever, I'll feel brave enough to accept another OS update.

  • Airport turns itself off and cannot be reenabled

The airport card on my 2007 macbook pro turns itself off after a brief period of time of functioning and cannot be reenabled without a restart. In addition, my computer sometime freezes after restarting. I have had the card replaced before and recently upgrade to Mountain Lion and am still having issues.

Here are some things to try:
    1. Be sure that Airport is at the top of the list in System Preferences > Network. And, be sure that your preferred network is at the top of the list in System Preferences > Network > Advanced.
    2. Go Finder > Your HD > Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration.
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to your Desktop.
    Restart.
Try airport. Try your network. Try your browser.
    3. Try creating a new location from System Preferences > Network and then deleting the older one.
    4. Create a new admin user account and see if it works from there.
    5. Do a repair install of Sno. Just install Sno over Sno as though doing an upgrade installation. Do all the networking/internet tasks at the end of the installation if possible.

  • Airport turns itself off

When I turn my computer on at home it will connect to my wireless network (Comcast through a Belkin router) for a few minutes, then all of a sudden the airport turns off. Trying to turn the airport on does nothing, and using the network assistant doesn't help (it says that the airport has failed). I can still connect to the internet using the ethernet cord from the wireless router after this has happened.
If I restart the computer it will connect wirelessly again and work fine for a few minutes, then turn off again.
The frustrating thing is that this does not happen at all when I am at work. It stays on wireless networks fine, and I've never had a problem there (so my technology support says they can't do anything).
Any ideas out there? I'd really appreciate it.

I have this exact same issue and it was driving me crazy.  I found this post and it looks like it may have worked although its still early to tell (20min).
hey i had this problem where the airport fan turned itself off and would not turn back on. i rang apple and they had me go to finder, macintosh HD, Library, preferences, and then drag the folder "system config" to the desktop. leaving it there i had to restart and see if airport returned to normal, it did so i had to put that folder into the trash. and it stays connected now...hope this helps, let me know

  • Update: Video - Canon 6D turns itself off after a few shots with fully charged battery

Update: I uploaded my video to youtube, please comment:
    http://youtu.be/3PNLUYd8g7A
TIA and pardon me for my English.
I posted this originally at another forum, and somebody suggested me to post it here as well, to get more help.
Long story short, I purchased a brand new Canon 6D from B&H on Oct 24th, 2013. From early december, the camera starts to shut itself off randomly and displaying empty battery. I found the camera constantly shuts itself off after 20 - 100 continuous shots with a FULLY charged battery (right off charger, showing 8.23V using multimeter, and showing 98% in battery info).
The camera will just turn itself off in the middle of shooting, showing empty battery int the shoulder window. The solution is simple, open the battery door, then close it again, no need even to pull the battery.
So, I contacted Canon support, sent the camera to the VA service facility, waiting for it be repaired. As an engineer myself, I understand things fail, and I thought this is such an easy issue to reproduce, anybody should be able to repro it.
Couple of days later, I received a phone call to send my accessories in, no problem, debugging needs more info, that's normal. I sent my lens and stuff in. I unfortunately had to bear the cruel fact that I don't have a decent camera for the holiday, though I have a backup.
After a long wait, on 12/28the, the accessories were delivered at 9:35am. At 10am, they called me, they were sending the camera back. No issue at all. I was like, have you tested AT ALL? They didn't care, sending the camera back regardless.
I received the camera on Jan 2nd, and saw the same issue on that day. Of course, it was NOT fixed at all.
I googled really hard, somebody said he had similar issue but it was a defective battery, so I got a brand new Canon battery, unfortunately, the same issue pops up again.
Ok, the only choice for me is to send it back again.  But this time I am totally amazed by Canon.
I sent the camera in again with my lens and battery. Also, a video showing the issue on a standalone CF card (I know 6D does not take CF, just to put the video on it).
Couples of days later, they called asking for accessories, I was like, what accessories, I don't have any more.
Then the camera sit in their facility for a few days for nothing. All of sudden I received a phone call on Monday morning, said it is ready. The camera has no issue at all.
I called, asked whether they have watched the video, they told me two technicians, including a senior one, was not able to upload the video to the computer. I was like, what the hell? why the heck you need to upload it to the computer, find a card reader, plug the card in, double click, how simple is that?
I talked to the service manager over the phone, he told me that there is nothing he could do, if their technician said so. They have decided to send my camera back, NOT fixed, again. I esclated the issue again, but haven't heard anything back yet.
Honestly, I am totally pissed, how stupid can they be? I included a letter with detailed steps on how to reproduce this issue. As an engineer myself, I know how easy to reproduce this issue. But what shocked me is that they don't even know or they didn't even bother to watch the video. In the same letter, I asked/begged them to contact me if they cannot reproduce the issue instead of just sending it back unfixed.
Guys, any other ways to get their attention? I already filed a BBB complaint. For a brand new camera of 3 months old, it has been in Canon's repair shop for almost a month. Leave to say that I missed the most importand holiday season in the year. This is simply not acceptable.

"The camera usually shuts itself off after 20-100 continuous shot, ..."
By this you mean your are in continuous drive? You just hold the shutter release down until it stops shooting?
    "... the shoulder LCD shows a ..."
    What is the "shoulder" LCD?
Sorry for the extra questions but I am trying to understand exactly what you are going through and why Canon said it is OK.
Canon did not say it was all right if it is not.
You are, also saying, if you use the camera, just for a single snap shot, say several in a session, it is OK? Right?
It only shuts down when on continuous drive or video?

  • IMac turns itself off after an attempted RAM upgrade

I took the 1GB from the memory slot and installed
2x2GB which didn't work so replaced the original
1GB and now it shuts itself off after about ten
seconds of attempting to reboot. I've tried all
    combinations but nothing works.

    Doug,
I work as a sys admin at a college, we bought 90, 20" I Macs last November, we have had 3 break so far with the same problem, and one with a failed motherboard as a result of a bad power supply.
I have been a mac user for over 10 years and to have machines break after 2 months of use is shocking for a company that previously had such a good reputation for quality products.
This is a known issue, and the company that fixes our machines under applecare has admitted that these machines have a faulty power supply. I know the Rev A models had issues with power supplies, but the fact that all the 20" models have a 150 watt power supply doesn't help as this is not enough power to run a power pc plus 20" screen etc.
If i were you i would get it sorted straight away as other people have had this issue and it will only get worse if you dont get the power supply replaced.
    Regards,
    Kevin.

  • My iPhone 4 is turning itself off after 40% battery life is surpassed.

Although I still have about 40% charge on the battery, the iPhone just turns itself off, like it has no battery life at all but when i plug it into the charger, it starts up again automatically and shows that I still have about 40-45% battery life available.  What is going on?  How do I try to recalibrate it if I can never get it to 0% battery life?  Please help.

Same case here, but mine is Iphone 3GS having 40-50% battery then a little moment boom, it shut itself off. How to fix this someone help.

  • MBP turns itself off after grey screen

    hello,
i tried searching the forums for this problem but didn't find why this is happening to me. i tried to install leopard upgrade dvd on my mbp and had many problems just as it couldn't find 10.4 and so on, just like many others have had. then i decided to give up and just go back to 10.4.11 but my computer didn't recognize it as a startup. so i decided to eject the leopard dvd and restart and my computer now goes from the spinning wheel on the grey screen and then turns itself off completely.
    i have tried:
    1. disk utility (when i was installing leopard)
    2. reset my pram
    3. waiting 10min on the language screen
sorry if this problem has been resolved. i would appreciate any help..

    Hi T,
IIRC, the three flashes (used to be beeps) indicates bad RAM. Do you have any other compatible RAM available to try?

  • Satellite U845W-S400 turns itself off after a minute

I have a U845W with Windows 7, which shuts itself off about a minute after booting up.
There is no blue screen of death, the computer just dies.
I tried booting two different versions of Linux from USB and the same thing happens - a minute or two after boot-up,
    the computer shuts off.
However, if I boot up into Windows safe mode, the computer works for longer.
It still shuts itself off randomly, but might work for a half hour to an hour.
If I boot into Windows safe mode with only the command prompt, it works the longest - for a couple of hours.
This happens no matter if it's running only on battery power, or if it's plugged into the wall.
I tried looking for memory dump files and found none.
This all suggests a hardware problem, not a software one, but unfortunately the computer is past warranty.
I think I can figure out how to open up the laptop, but I don't know what I should look for in its insides.
Does anybody have suggestions for my problem, or maybe a copy of the U845W service manual?

when in safe mode, can you check the temp of the cpu?  newer Toshiba computers have a program that displays cpu temp, fan speed, etc.  I'm not sure if it will be avail. in safe mode.
I would lean toward possible thermal shutdown due to dust/dirt in the fan, fan housing, heat sink.  This can be cleaned by opening up the computer like this.

  • Pre turned itself off, after reboot, acted like it was my first use

Had this phone for several months now.  Tonight it just randomly was off when I reached to use it.  After a 10 min boot up, my apps were still on the phone, but I had to 'agree' to usage of the app store, and had to re-register my foursquare, accuradio, preware, email, and calendar.  I dunno what else needs re-registering since I have so many apps.
Anyway, the phone is acting like I just turned it on for the first time. Also my stored alarms were erased.
    Anyone ever have these issues?
I've had the lost alarm clock issue before, but never lost my registrations on my apps.

    Hello bcast:
Welcome to the Palm Forums. Has the issue you mention repeated since your last incident?

  • Stabilization turns itself off after analyzing?

I have some strange issues with some clips needing a bit of stabilization.
Some of the clips in the timeline (from the same main clip) somehow can't be stabilized, but I get no warning. The only way I know, is because the blue "on" light turns off just after "Analyzing for dominant motion" reaches 100%
Other clips (from the same main clip) work fine wThanksith stabilization.
Any ideas? Is there a log I can check?
    Thanks, Peter

Could be? However the shaking is very minute. So I shouldnt be an issues because of excessive shaking
A workaround (I found) is to not create proxy media in the import process. At least for these clips it works (so far)

  • My iMac (intel based early 2008) turns itself off after the gray apple logo and spinning wheel

The other day was using my mac normally. Later on I noticed a pixilated horizontal black stripe on the desktop screen so I restarted. The screen ended up stalling at the gray apple logo with the spinning gray wheel. After a minute or two the Mac just turned off and I can never get beyong this point after restarting a bunch of times. I tried plugging in the power cord at another outlet with same result. Boot up disc did give me option to reinstall Mac OS X but then I'd lose my data (which is stupidly not backed up). Is this a power issue, or something else?

    Hello
try use apple hardware test if is possible , 2 ways to launch AHT ( depend on your mac and system version )
