Airport turns off at boot (in the Network Settings)
The last couple of weeks I've begun to experience the problem where, upon booting my MBP, the Airport is turned off in the Network Settings. I turn it back on and all is fine for a few reboots, but then it will turn off again (say, every 3-4 reboots). I've run Cocktail, Disk Repair, booted in Safe Mode . . . is there a preference file that could be corrupt?

You might try resetting your connection settings using the steps listed in this message:

They're not guaranteed to solve the problem, but they'll only take you a minute or so to try.

After updating my iPad 2 to iOS 6, I cannot connect to my router. Try forgetting the network, reboot your iPad and then try joining the network again.
Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Forget this network. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Go back to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Enter your password>Tap Join.
If that doesn't work, reset network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Reboot the iPad again. Go back to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Enter your password>Tap join. -
My dad gave me an iPhone 3G to use as an ipod touch but it's not picking up wifi. ive tried everything to like reseting the network settings turning wi fi off and on mutable times, turned the phone off on and on. What do i do?
the iphone never really picked up wi fi when it was used as a phone and it didnt really matter because he had unlimited internet but it still wont go on wi fi. does any one know why it is doing this?
The iphone works fine other wise i just really want it to go on wi fi. We just got new wi fi too and all of our other apple products go on the wi fi just fine. I dont know if its because its newer or what but my brothers 1st gen ipod goes on wi fi just fine.
The iphone is updated to the latest ios too

I updated my 4S phone to IOS 7.1.2 and lost my wi-fi. The wi-fi is on, but can't find ANY networks. I have been through all the steps, from turning the phone on and off, resetting the network settings, resetting the whole phone, redownloading 7.1.2 and lastly going to the Apple store for help. They tried all the exact same steps I did, took the phone apart and looked at and said it is in "pristine" condition. They have no idea why it isn't working, but they could offer to sell me another phone. This is extremely annoying! They claim it has nothing to do with the update to 7.1.2, but that is when I lost the wi-fi, so it has to be related!
My 4s i-phone which is 2 years old cannot find any wi-fi networks not even my home network... I had the same problem two months ago but i turned off the i-phone for 8 hours and then it was okay... Now it happened again.... I tried to restart the modem but whilst my laptop is connected regularly, my phone still cannot find any wi-fi networks... I restart the i-phone, i reset it, i chose reset network settings, reset all settings, i turned it off for a whole day in case it was overloaded, i turned on the airplane mode and turned it off again, i put it into the freezer for 10 minutes within a zipped bag but 3 days now and i still cannot be connected to my home wifi... I went to the technician today and he told me that it means that wi-fi is broken and that i need to change it with a charge of 70 euro but i have to give my phone for 10 working days so as to be fixed... I am so frustrated and i don't know if i want to give 70 euro for wifi since i don't know if it would make the same problems again...

My airport turns off by itself and I have to restart the computer for it to work again and it only turns off again. I have Mac OS X version 10.6.8. What can I do to solve this problem?
Usually the HDD is the frist place to look. Use the original install disk and start up the MBP with the C key down. Go through the installation process until you see on the display a menu bar on top.
Click on UTILITIES.
From the drop down menu select Disk Utility.
Open Disk Utility>First Aid and run Verify and Repair.
What are the results?

I installed an Airport card (802.11b) in an iBook running OS 10.3.9.
The card worked until the computer was shut down. Now it either fails to show up in the system profiler, or just shows that an airport card is installed.
The Internet Connect shows that no Airport hardware is present and Airport turned off (greyed out).
When rebooted from OS 9.2.2, the airport shows up correctly and can be toggled on and off.
I checked the Airport card by installing it in a G-4 MDD, and it showed in the profiler, network system preference and internet connect. I then checked while booted off a firewire drive, same results. Then I reinstalled the airport card in the iBook and booted it off the firewire drive.
Airport showed up in the profiler, was not detected by network system preference, or internet connect.
Checked in OS 9, it was a happy camper.
Tried reinstalling OS 10.3, and upgrading to 10.3.9 with the airport card installed.
No changes in response.
Any suggestions aside from jacking the house up and diving out a window?Did you ever figure this out? I am in a bind with some networking problems, so I decided to trash some preferences, thinking they'd all be restored by the system on rebooting. Well, not so: when I restarted, my Airport card was greyed out and could not be turned on. I tried all the setup assistants, but they require that the card be turned on...which I can't do.
I wish I could remember the ones I trashed. But the reinstall should have installed those preferences in your case, and yet it still didn't work? -

thank you very muchHey, in case you haven't been able to find a solution to your original problem with airport turning off, i seem to have found the solution for my MacBook Pro. I called Apple Care and they had me to shut down my computer. Then, while holding down the four keys: command, option, R and P, push the power button to turn on the computer. Do not let up on the four keys until the start up chime has sounded twice. Then let up on the four keys and the OS will boot up as usual. They said what that does is reset your "sleep" parameters on your computer. This seemed to have solved my problem.

Airport turns off, won't come back w/o restart
My Airport card has been driving me crazy since approximately late May. It turns off at will, and I've searched the net and tried a host of fixes -- resetting RAM and whatnot (holding down various button at restart), deleting and adding a new location in network prefs, etc etc -- but nothing has worked. I'm afraid (and becoming increasingly convinced) that it is a hardware issue. Things are fine when I leave my MBP on the desk. But as soon as I try to move it, or put it in my lap, the Airport turns off (icon at upper right goes "empty"). And it won't turn back on unless I restart. This happens every time I move it, though if I'm reeeally careful and hold it at the front/sides, it might make it to its new location...for a bit. Then, if I move it around too much...gone.
I'm out of warranty and don't have Applecare, so if this is purely hardware related, I might be SOL...or have to do some surgery myself. But if anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated. Like I said, I've tried resetting everything at startup, erasing and adding a new location in network prefs...nothing worked at all.
(Also worth nothing, back in Nov 08, I had a problem with the board, which incidentally was also interfering with the Airport a bit....but it was mostly just causing system failure. Sent it in via an Apple Store, and when it came back, the board issue/kernel panics/etc were gone, but I had a HD hum....as in, faint clicking noise coming from the right upper area. Stops when I hold down the P, [, or ] keys, or those in the vicinity. Unfortunately, my warranty ran out shortly after, and I couldn't afford to lose my comp for a couple of weeks in there. *****. Now here I am.)try a security wipe, doubt it will work but worth a try

options- security options- general settings
menu button- wipe handheld
wait till you BB reboots adn test it again without restoring your backup
if that doesnt work, try this
make sure you have DTM 4.7 or 5.0 installed and closed
plug in BB
click on start- run and type
cmd
press enter, then type
cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
press enter, then type
loader.exe /resettofactory
press enter
wait till you BB reboots adn test it again without restoring your backup. -
My ipad keeps kicking me off of my known wifi network. I turned off the wifi and turned it back on, reset the network, and finally upgraded to ios5 but I keep getting kicked off. My laptop is connected so it's not a wifi issue. The ipad is a first generation one..Any help is appreciated

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I cannot change song order on playlists (old or new) with highlight and drag. I have turned off shuffle and highlighted the far left column (up/down arrow) of playlist. My mac pro is running 10.5.8 and am using itunes 10.4. I can't drag and drop "music" to "playlist" but can right click and get the option to "add to playlist." No such option for moving song within playlist, only the up and down arrow which moves song from top to bottom list, so if it is #4 from top it will move to #4 from bottom. Stupid I know. I spent over an hour with Apple support, reinstalled itunes, restarted and rebooted computer. Networked with my laptop which is running 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 and it can drag and drop. The final Apple support solution was to reinstall my operating system. I would prefer not to. Any other ideas?
After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

[SOLVED] USB Harddrive via fstab turned off during Boot - Error
Hello^^
I'm trying to mount my external USB Drive.
I put the following line in fstab:
/dev/sdb1 /media/Musik ext4 noauto,user,default 0 1
I only want to start the Harddive occasionally.
The problem is, when the drive is completly turned off during boot I get the following error:
No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/sdb1
Possibly non existend device?
I thought that the noauto Option should prevent fstab from mounting the hdd???

Plenty of handy examples you can find in /lib/udev/rules.d/ and modify them so they meet you needs. I hope it clarifies the matter a bit.

Trying to turn off auto-renew for The Guardian. From PC.
I did the following:
1. Launch iTunes on your computer
2. Choose Store>Sign In from the iTunes menu.
3. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.
4. Choose Store>View My Account. You may be asked to re-enter your Apple ID password. Click
View Account. (I chose "iTunes Store", in the side bar, since the word "Store" in the menu bar didn't list "My Account". Then I chose "Account" in Quick Links, on the right-hand side of the screen. I got the "Account Information" ok.)
5. From the Account Information screen, scroll to the bottomof the page to the Settings section.
Then it said to: 6. Click "Manage" to the right of "Subscriptions".
The word "Subscriptions" does not appear in the Settings section. Nothing in the Settings section takes me to a page on which to manage my subscriptions.Hi

It is stated that "remember to turn off color managment in the print dialog" when using custom profile (I assume the Profile MG...) is regarded as a custom profile...
I have been lookoing in the print dialogue and I can not find any way to turn off colour managment...
Is this only valid for Microsoft Windows of Is there something I do not understand ?Like this :

Image Corruption in ACR/Bridge CS 6:

Dual processor not showing up in Activity Monitor
