Airport unable to connect - keeps getting unnecessary certificate

Wanted to bring my new Mac to school - and connect it to the wireless network. I can't get access because my mac keeps downloading a certificate which somehow prevents my computer from getting access to the wireless network.
I've asked both the guys who works with the wireless internet (and setting it up on regular PC's) and the guys working with mac's.. Nobody seems to know why my mac keeps downloading this certificate - but all agree on the fact that it's the reason why I can't connect - so how do I force my mac not to download this certificate - since it is not necessary for connecting to the network at all..
The man who knew most about mac suggested a re-install of Mac OS X - but this seems a quite drastic?
Hope somebody knows what kind of magic to use..
I'll of course try to get the most information possible if something is needed to solve the problem..

Strange. My school has something similar, but I can get through just fine.
When you get notified of the certificate, click on Show Certificate, then check the box to explicitly trust your school's certificate. Enter your password to confirm.
See if that helps.

  • 10.5.5 airport unable to connect to school network

I have a santa roza macbook Pro, and I am now unable to connect to my schools wireless internet. I'm pretty sure this happened after the 10.5.5 update.
Before I was surprised at how solid the connection was; always full connection, no drop out's ever, reconnected in less then 2 seconds after sleep mode, and everything was working great!
Now I am simply unable to find the internet; airport doesn't connect automaticaly, and clicking on the airport menu just says "no networks found" or something like that.
I'm pretty sure my school has a linksys router, but I'm unsure of what model it is… Also, before this update I used to be able to connect to my neighboors wifi, now Airport (usually) can't find that either.
    any ideas?

I read a few other threads about internet problems which mentioned resetting PRAM, removing the internets from the auto connect list in system preferences, and repairing permissions. I did everything, NONE OF IT WORKED.
I'm starting to get mad at apple now… what have they done to airport? It worked so beautifully in tiger…

  • Airport unable to connect to ActionTec Router

    Hello all,
It seems everyone is having similar issues with their Mac's being unable to connect or having issues connecting to their routers. My neighbor is one of them. I'm a PC guy, so I know little about macs.. But I've learned within 1 day that His issue is common with everyone on this page.
He was using a 2WIRE### Router purchased through AT&T/SBC for his DSL Connection. It had died on him 3 days ago. yesterday we attempted to replace it with a new Actiontec DSL Wireless Gateway (router). On first start up, we gave the network a SSID name and no security. His Wife's PC notebook connected fine, and I being next door, was able to connect fine. However his Macbook could not.
After hours of troublshooting, I learned that Changing the channel can fix the issue. I did this, and after a restart on both ends, I had it finally begun working. Today, he was unable to get on the internet without using Ethernet cable, again.
I am unsure of how to resolve this issue. I'm not even trying WEP or any security right now since I cannot seem to connect to it at all.
Any advice anyone can give me would be great. But so far all i've seen as possible solutions have been: change the SSID name, Remove Password making it open, and Change the channel.
Anyone beleive that Updateing firmware would help? I heard that downloading Macbook updates seem to remove their connections as well.

Mac Book   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    I have updated information:
I've spoken to both my ISP and Apple directly. They've replaced my Airport Card and my airport extreme base station. I am still not able to log on via the internet.
I have heard from a local store that there has been problems before with Macs, wireless internet, and ISP's that use PPOE to dial up. If I were to switch internet companies I would be able to log on no problem (so he says).
Of course my issue now is, Apple can't fix it, and my ISP won't help as all they will do is see if I can log onto the internet via regular DSL Line, which of course I can.
I'll let you know if there is a trick or any sort of additional information I can offer.

  • FaceTime will not connect, keep getting Call Failed

Since middle of last week have not been able to make calls with FaceTime keep getting message saying connecting, then get "Call Failed'

I had the same issue.  FT worked fine on my iPhone, iPad, and one of our iMacs, but not our newest iMac.
After searching all over, I stumbled on the solution.
Here is the snip that worked for me...
Click the Finder icon in the Dock.
Choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
    Type:  /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    Click Go.
In the Finder window, locate the file named "NetworkInterfaces.plist" and drag this file to the Trash.
    Restart your computer.

  • Wifi connection keeps getting dropped

I upgraded my ipad to ios 6.1.3 and it will no longer stay connected to my wifi, my other devices stay connected.  UGH>...

    Try #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Clients unable to connect and get DHCP - LAP1142N AP and 5508 WLC

    Hi,
I have 19 locations, each with 1 or more LAP1142N AP's in FlexConnect mode, AP's are primed using CAPWAP to my 5508 WLC at the datacenter. The AP's join the WLC without issue every time. I have two WLAN's, one guest and one staff, the guest network is open and obtains DHCP from a WatchGuard XTM33 firewall at each of the remote locations. The staff side is WPA2/RADIUS and DHCP is assigned from the WLC. Each AP is assigned a static IP that is not in the DHCP scope. For example: DHCP scope on the branch firewall is 192.168.1.10-250 the AP will be assigned static IP of 192.168.1.1.. The AP's are connected to a HP procurve switch that has a untagged VLAN, the firewall is using the native vlan 1 and so is the AP.
I have been running this network for over a year and it has not had a single issue until the last two weeks. Nothing on the network has changed or has been upgraded.
Now for the issue: The issue I am seeing is that clients are no longer able to connect to the AP and do not get DHCP assigned to them. I am able to get it working, if I remove the static IP from the AP, the AP will reboot, join the controller, then begin working, users can connect and DHCP is assigned from the firewall as it should. However, If the AP then reboots, the AP will join back to the controller but no clients can connect nor do they get a DHCP address. So, I then reassign a static IP to the AP again and it reboots, connects to the controller and clients then can connect and get DHCP.
Attached is a running config from one of the APs
I've found several posts on this topic, in fact the patch of unassigning or reassigning static IP is one that I found. However, I wanted to post this to see if there is any further assistance I can get on this. I am also waiting on my SmartNet to start up and will be contacting Cisco support as well.
    Thanks for any help.

Alright, so I finally figured out the issue with this. I had a Mobility Anchor set on the guest WLAN and once I removed that all started working again.
    What is Mobility Anchor?
    A. Mobility Anchor, also referred to as Guest tunneling or Auto Anchor Mobility, is a feature where all the client traffic that belongs to a WLAN (Specially Guest WLAN) is tunneled to a predefined WLC or set of controllers that are configured as Anchor for that specific WLAN. This feature helps to restrict clients to a specific subnet and have more control over the user traffic. Refer to the Configuring Auto-Anchor Mobility section of Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Configuration Guide, Release 7.0 for more information on this feature.

  • Airport unable to connect to internet after 10.4.11 upgrade

I was previously using 10.4.9 and the computer always connected to my network with full bars. After I combo upgrade to 10.4.11 this stopped happening. I get a long pause and then this message: There was an error joining the Airport network. Fortunately, I can connect to another router in my neighborhood that isn't password protected without difficulty. But I don't want to rely on that. What's the problem??
    P.S. I've tried restarting my modem/router but I still can't connect.

I'll find out when they open up tomorrow!
Other sites say Apple is "aware of the problem" - I'm just going to have to revert to my last backup. Thankfully it wasn't too long ago. I tried changing the WEP/WPA settings on my router and removing the encryption altogether. I'm back on a wired connection. If things don't work out for you, the Linksys WET11 has an ethernet jack at one end and an antenna on the other. So you could theoretically "fool" your computer into thinking it's on wired internet even though it's using wifi.
I do hope for a clean and quick solution for both of us!

  • Connection keeps getting dropped on Windows XP machine

I have a 1GB TC (2008 model) that I am using as my network's wireless router. Ever since I started using it, it has been dropping my Windows XP SP3 system off of the network at random intervals (at least a few times per day). I'll try to reconnect, and sometimes it will let me back on immediately, but usually it will just get stuck on trying to connect or trying to acquire a network address. I have to keep trying over and over until it finally lets me back on (it took me about 15 minutes once). The Macs on the network appear to be fine.
I've looked this up and some people have said it was related to WPA2, but that usually meant the XP system wouldn't connect at all. I've also tried updating all the software and firmware, switching to Bridge mode and changing the channel to no avail.
Prior to the TC, I used my trusty Linksys router with no problems.

Apparently, my TC isn't entirely biased. TC is dropping my Macs now as well (including the one within an arm's length of the TC). It may have been all along, but I'm not sure since I mainly use the XP machine. From what I can tell, the XP machine gets dropped more frequently (several times a day).
I've tried several channels and downgrading the firmware to 7.3.2, but it's the same thing every time. I'm really regretting this purchase...

  • Mac book air os x lion windows network connection keep getting locked out

hello, I have an end user with a mac air, running os x lion. I attached him to a network share on the windows network active directory on server 2008. he is the only one that when he clicks on the network share it locks him out. I check a/d and he is locked out each time. Is there a fix for this. other computer specs are processor 1.7 ghz intel core i5 4gigs memory. this should be an easy fix for such a robust machine.

    Hey,
yes I did get to the bottom of this problem!!!. After spending some time on the phone with apple support they suggested that it was probably a problem with the hardware on my macbook air.
So I took this to an apple shop they had a look and it was infact a problem with the logic board. Not sure what was wrong specifically but they replaced it and then reinstalled OS for me and now works perfectly. All came under the warrenty obviously.
I had a look at your thread and it seems that your having the same problem, only thing i can suggest is ring support if you havnt done so already they will go through recovery with you, should be all free if you have just bought your new mac. Alternatively, to save time I would quickly check and download via a different internet connection/ try connect your mac to the router with an ethernet cable, just to see wether its an internet issue.
If this fails unfortunately you will most likely have to take it to an apple store to get them to take a look!.
    Good luck

  • Bluetooth connection: keep getting message connect...

Yet another problem with the **bleep** Ovi Suite: when I want to connect my device via Bluetooth it keeps on saying connecting...
    I can connect via cable.
    OS: Windows 7 x64
    Nokia E71
    Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284

    Hey smggm,
While connecting your device via BT, disconnect/disable your internet connection (this will make sure that the PC use the drivers which comes with ovisuite and  prevent the PC from downloading any new drivers from internet) and then connect your mobile and wait for drivers and support software installation.
After drivers installation you can connect your mobile to ovisuite from ovisuite screen.
Also i personally recommend to let your ovisuite to search for new device rather than connecting the device to PC first then connecting it to ovi suite.

  • Keep getting invalid certificate notifications on certain sites on Safari. How do I get sites to trust?

About a week ago my MB Pro (wife's computer) said date and location was lost. Wife went in and reset. A day later on my side I started getting invalid certification notices dropping down from menu bar. Mostly an annoyance and would either click cancle or resume. However some sites, Facebook in particular, I lost the page altogether. I get a white screen with blue and whit text along left margin. I've worked with an online tech for 4 days and have not resolved. Does anyone know the fix or had similar problem. I'm at wits end.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

  • After updating to OSX 10.9.4, WiFi connection keeps getting dropped. This happened on 3 Macs, but my iPhone, iPad, and Windows computer all connect to WiFi just fine.

I recently updated three Macs to Mavericks OS 10.9.4. All three Macs now cannot stay connected to WiFi.
Other devices (iOS and Windows) have no such problem, so it isn't the WiFi itself.
It seems to be OS X 10.9.4 which is the problem.
