Airport unable to connect to internet after 10.4.11 upgrade

I was previously using 10.4.9 and the computer always connected to my network with full bars. After I combo upgrade to 10.4.11 this stopped happening. I get a long pause and then this message: There was an error joining the Airport network. Fortunately, I can connect to another router in my neighborhood that isn't password protected without difficulty. But I don't want to rely on that. What's the problem??
P.S. I've tried restarting my modem/router but I still can't connect.

I'll find out when they open up tomorrow!
Other sites say Apple is "aware of the problem" - I'm just going to have to revert to my last backup. Thankfully it wasn't too long ago. I tried changing the WEP/WPA settings on my router and removing the encryption altogether. I'm back on a wired connection. If things don't work out for you, the Linksys WET11 has an ethernet jack at one end and an antenna on the other. So you could theoretically "fool" your computer into thinking it's on wired internet even though it's using wifi.
I do hope for a clean and quick solution for both of us!

  • Unable to connect to Internet after Secruity Upgrade - Any Suggestions?

Like several of the previous posts I am unable to connect to the internet. The affected computer is a G3 iMac. It is connected to a Linksys wireless access point. The Linksys wireless router is connected to my cable modem. I get a message that the Built-in Ethernet is active but: Built-in Ethernet has a self assigned IP address and you may not be able to connect to the internet. No combination of changes to the settings has had any effect. I also have tried all of the fixes in the previous posts. None of them have worked. I am not experiencing any connectivity problems with my other computers (2 PCs and 1 Macbook). Everything worked fine until that danged "security upgrade"!

Thank you for the link to MacFixIt. I found what I needed to correct the problem, although all of the fixes referenced computers with the AirPort card and software. I found that removing the extensions AppleAirPort2.kext and AppleAirPortFW.kext solved the problem. Everything seems to be working properly after a restart last night and an overnight shutdown.

  • Unable to connect to internet after router reset

    Hi,
Am in need of some urgent help please - my MacBook Pro is unable to connect to the internet following a reset and reboot of my Belkin54g router.
Last week I was following some troubleshooting instructions to get my new Vodafone Sure Signal booster to work and it gave some instructions to alter settings in the router's IP configuration - all of a sudden I lost wireless connectivity on both my MacBook Pro & my Dell Laptop.
Last night I spoke to my ISP and they talked me through re-setting the router's settings and now the laptop is back up abd running and fully connected to the wireless and internet.
However, my MacBook Pro appears to detect the wireless, but not the internet connection. I asked the ISP to help but they said they would not help with resetting wireless settings on Macs.
So now i am stuck and don't know what to do. Please, please, please help.
    Thank you!

    Hi
I am having the same problem - all of a sudden from my wireless router I am seeing and connecting to the router but not the internet. I have checked to see if I am getting am IP address from the router and it seems that I am not.
If I connect with the old fashioned wire, it works fine.
    Thanks in advance...

  • Can't get airport express to connect to internet after ISP changed my modem

Hi. My internet service provider installed fibre optic to my house, so they gave me a new modem. Have not been able to get airport express to connect to the internet ever since. Just get the flashing amber light. Other than paying $50 for phone support, I have no idea what to do. I just use the airport so I can play music from iTunes from my stereo using airplay. I use the airport utility on my laptop.

Does the new modem provide a Wi-Fi network? If it does, and your only goal with Express is for iTunes streaming, the Express would just need to be reconfigured to join the new modem's wireless network. Please check out the following Apple Support article for details.

  • IPhone 5 Unable to connect to Internet after upgrade

I recently upgraded to 8.0.2 and now my iPhone 5 will not connect to the internet. I can't even restore the IOS because I can't connect to the internet to disable "Find My Phone".
    HELP
    Bob

Add me to the list. Just done the iOS 7 to 7.0.4 update and now am unable to join my WiFi network (TimeCapsule).
In addition to the above I also did a complete restore of the phone, not to a backup, essentially creating a new empty phone, and it still can't connect to the WiFi network.
Note there's also an exceedingly dumb piece of programming been added to the Restore that may cause you an issue. If you have find my iPhone switch on in iCloud, you can not restore. You are told you have to go the the phone and switch off find my iPhone. Now, if the reason you are trying to Restore your iPhone is because you can't connect to the internet, well, that's not too helpful is it. That's that's the dumb-*** kind of UX I switch from Windows to avoid.

  • Unable to Connect to WiFi after iPhone power off; WiFi & internet are working with MBP; common problem, no solutions?

Here's my setup: Internet <> Comcast/xFinity supplied cable modem <> new Apple Time Capsule <> iPhone 4 & MacBook Pro (see below for hardware details)
Internet on my iPhone 4 has been acting slow since yesterday evening. My MacBook Pro was running fine, but just to be sure I checked the Comcast website to see that I have only used 50GB of my allotted 250 GB of data for the month, so it's not that.
I decided it must be a problem with just my iPhone, so I opened up the multitasking bar and quit everything in there manually, and then I held the on/off button, and slid the slider to power off. When I started back up, I could not connect to the same WiFi I had just been using. I tried to reconnect and nothing. I tried to forget the network and try again, nothing. I tried to reset all network settings, nothing.
I have tried all the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 "iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections"
Toggled WiFi off and back on
Made sure I am in range of the router (it's about 8 feet away and my iPhone reports full signal from the network)
Made sure all the hardware is connected and on
Checked other devices (I'm successfully connected with my MacBook Pro right now)
Checked for router firmware upgrades (I have a new Time Capsule from Apple with the current 7.5.2 firmware which I've been using for a month)
    Restarted my device (again)
Checked that the network is available (it does show on my iPhone)
    Restarted my Time Capsule
Checked my router configuration as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3727 "Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network" which involves simply checking to see that WMM is turned on, also stating that WMM cannot be enabled or disabled for Apple's AirPort products.
    Reset my network settings (again)
I have searched and searched for fixes to this problem, and I have additionally tried:
    Enabling/disabling Airplane Mode
Disabling any network password protection/encryption (no luck), re-enabling it (no luck)
    Changing the network password
Checking for hardware addresses present in iOS Settings > General > About (they are present and not zero'ed out)
Switching Bluetooth off (nothing) and back on (nothing)
....and probably a few other things I can't think of right now
    I have yet to try:
The "Freezer Trick" which apparently involves chilling the iPhone to get a temporary fix?
Restoring the iPhone (I would really rather not)
A different WiFi network (other than my own Time Capsule home network or guest network, both of which give the same Unable to Connect error)
So, after all of that, are there any more ideas? Is there a reliable solution to this issue? So far I've just seen a lot of "mess with the settings," "the freezer trick worked," and "blame it on the iOS 4 update."
    Here are my hardware details:
    iPhone 4; iOS 5; 32GB; AT&T; no cellular data plan (July 2011)
    TimeCapsule6,113; Firmware 7.5.2; 2TB (September 2011)
    MacBook Pro 3,1; Mac OS X (10.7.2); 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Hi-Res Display; 4GB RAM; 500GB HD (August 2007)
    ...and the Time Capsule config:
    http://cl.ly/BCUt

Ugh. Apparently "messing with it" is still the answer. I decided to try the LinkSys router I was using before I bought the Time Capsule, and my iPhone connected with no problem.
I went through the steps again, and after rebooting my Time Capsule this time, I can connect again. The troubling thing it that this started with a power-off of my iPhone. No changes or installations, just a reset. Am I going to have to reboot my Time Capsule (which has no power switch, just a cord I have to unplug) every time I reboot my iPhone?
    Jinkies.

  • HT4623 After ios update on my ipad mini i am unable to connect to internet via cellular connection

i Have update ios 7.0.2 on my ipad mini. But after update of ios 7.0.2 i am unable to connect to internet via cellulau connection. Cellular connection appears on my screen but i get error as "Could not activate cellular data network you are not subscribed to a cellular data service". Cellular connection was working prior to ios 7.0.2 update. Please help.

    GOT MINE FIXED -
THE 7.0.3 update reported my iPhone as LOST or STOLEN  to Verizon.
They suspended my iPhone service immediately (as I would expect them to) and THAT is why I couldn't get on.
Called Verizon wireless - they restored me in 30 seconds - EVERYTHING WORKS AGAIN.
They said "we've been doing this ALL MORNING."
Hope this works for others, too!

  • X3500 unable to connect to Internet (Firmware)

    Device - X3500 Annex A
    Current Firmware - v1.0.01 build 001 May 17, 2013
Issue - router won't connect to Internet after updating firmware and don't have a previous version to refresh
My IT / network literacy - experienced
Router was working & connecting to Internet (settings below) until I flashed the new firmware. After that, I cannot get the device to connect to my ISP no matter what I try. I know that the username/password are correct and that the line is OK as I can connect using my old D-Link router. I had a 'live chat' with Linksys support but they were unable to help me, hence the post.
    I am trying to connect to UK based ADSL ISP (plusnet [reseller of BT wholesale]) using;
    PPPoA
    ADSL (not auto)
    Multiplex - VC
    VPI / VCI - 0 / 38
    username/password
    MTU - Auto
I have tried a variety of config combinations (including multiple MTU settings [1432 is optimal for me]) but cannot get the device to connect to ISP.I have factory reset, hard reset, etc. several times but with no difference. I even resorted to using the Cisco Connect software but that didn't work either !
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or can suggest alternatives things to try as I currently have an attractive 'brick' on my desk - I have searched for different versions of firmware but can't find anything apart from the version published here.
    Thanks in advance

Hi Maxip. I didn't experienced this. However, you may try to reset the device again for the last time for about 30seconds then turn it off for about 30seconds before you'll turn it back on. Make sure nothing is connected to it except for the computer that you are using to access the UI. Save the same settings provided by ISP then connect the ISP connection. Hope this helps.

  • Unable to connect to internet or print wirelessly on Boot Camp with Windows 7

I recently installed Boot Camp and Windows 7 on my Mac Book Pro with no problems.
A month later, I am unable to connect to internet or print wirelessly.
It states that I am connected to my router.
When I trouble shoot, it cannot find the problem.
My wireless connection and cable connection are fine on the MAC side.
    Please help.

looks a like a Windows 7 problem. I assume that you can click on the current connection info on the task bar and see a connection to your wireless router?  Have you updated your copy of Windows since it was working? I am wondering if it's an update that's applied in Windows which has done something.

TouchSmart 600 unable to connect to Internet & email accounts.  Receive Windows Network Diagnostics error message "An unexpected error has occurred.  The troubleshooting wizard can't continue"  Error Code: 0x80070057.  Using old laptop to send this message.  Tried to restore back to a certain date but was only able to restore back to latest Windows download which did not correct my problem.  Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

I have the same problem connecting to the Internet that it is. It is more intermittent than permanent though. I have updated the driver from HP site, but no change.  From the searches on the web problem seems more widespread though. HP do something! Please!

  • CS5.5 Subscription: Unable to connect to internet.

So, for two days, I've been unable to use either of the two Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection licenses I'm currently subscribing to and paying a pretty penny for. Yesterday, Adobe customer support informed me that something must be "wrong with my machine", so, I dutifully did all of the testing, cleaning up, repairing and troubleshooting I could think of on that machine. CS5.5 Subscription on that one still doesn't work. Today, I attempted to use the other license I'm paying for on a different machine, with the exact same results.
When attempting to open any of the products, I get this message:
When I click Try Again, I get this one, which stays on this screen and never changes:
As you can imagine, I'm fairly certain I'm connected to the internet, since I'm typing this in the forum right now. I've attempted a wired connection, wireless connection and my MiFi connection, restarted, stood on one foot while patting my head, and attempted to bribe my software, with the same results each time.
    Specs:
MacBook Pro 15" / Snow Leopard
    Mac Mini / Lion
To reiterate, here are the steps I've attempted:
    Repair permissions
    Repair disk
    Multiple restarts
Move from Wired to Wireless connection
Move from Wireless to MiFi connection
This isn't an issue with Lion, since it's occuring on both machines with different serial numbers. This is a problem with Adobe's subscription licensing server, or a problem with the way the software connects to it. Any assistance is appreciated, and the quicker I get it, the happier I'll be, since this has already caused me to fall behind on a deadline. At this point, I'm considering canceling the monthly subscription and reinstalling my version of CS4, which, while missing some of the features I upgraded to CS5.5 for, at least works.
Side note for Adobe personnel: It's not entirely clear in your FAQs for the subscription editions that you have to be connected to the internet every single time you open the software.

I'm getting that exact same message. Started today and it's driving me crazy. I can't find any information on error code 194:100. I talked to customer support through chat and they hadn't any clue as to what error 194:100 could be. They said it was technical and I should contact tecnical support. Why anyone would want to talk to a support agent that cannot fix problems and just generally tells you to call the real customer support, I have no idea.
This is the second time I've had problems with my software activation. It was slightly different but similar in several ways. I figured I'd metion some specifics to see if it matches more or less anyone else's problems.
Both times I've noticed I've had trouble with my adobe account id. Specifically I can log in just fine but I can't access the acount info section. I get a page not found error.
This time around I noticed many other weird things.
Adobe updater disappeared from my mac.
Encoder refused to encode certain premeire sequences.
Premiere froze on export of those same sequences.
And I first got the Unable to Connect to internet error this morning. Followed shortly The "Activation Failure error code #194:100" one. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times and Premiere seems to run fine at least once. But if I try to open any other adobe application or if I load another project I get error 194:100.
The first time I had Activation Problems I ended up having to return the software, wait for the refund, delete my adobe id account, create a new one and buy it again with the new account.
I hope this is not a repeat of last time cause I'm seriously not rebuying defective software a third time.
I don't know if this helps but your problem seemed similar to mine.
