Airport utility 5.6

someone suggested me that if I install Airport utility version 5.6 besides version 6 I can have access to all functions of Airport extreme. If I use version 5.6, all change in settings, that are no more included in version 6, will be saved?

I am a bit disturbed to report that Apple has REMOVED Airport Utility v5.6 from its Downloads list.
I am HOPING that they are going to rewrite their wrong information about v5.6, but checking its description page they so far have not changed it.
Therefore, users who don't like v6.0 won't even know that v5.6 is available and superior. Why did this happen?
In the spirit of overcoming adversity, I am making sure the URL to the Airport Utility v5.6 page is at least available here.

  • After port forward, airport utility can no longer see my time capsule

I tried to forward public port 1025 to private port 80 on a raspberry pi using  airport utility. But after I did that,  the airport utility can no longer see my time capsule. Wifi still works correctly. Are there any conflicts about port 1025? How to fix that other than resetting the time capsule?
    Thanks,
    Michael

It doesn't sound like a port that is used.
From the standard google search.. nope.
    Reboot the whole network..
No luck tell me what OS version you are running the utility on and what model and firmware TC???
Note with Yosemite, anything can and will happen.

  • How do I configure the Airport utility to allow more than one rule per port?

How do I configure the Airport Utility (AU) to allow more than one rule per port?
I am on a home network, with broadband cable modem.  I have my airport extreme connected to the broadband modem.  I have 2 servers in my home that need to be accessed remotely from time (SSH), and they also serve data for an iphone app, so I'm using a variety of protocols.  The problem I'm running into is that AU seems to only allow one rule per protocol, so if I go to add another address for access on a specific port that is being used by one of my servers, AU tells me "The Port Mapping Entry Already Exists".
I need to be able to allow SSH on both of my servers, for instance.  Am I missing something?  Is this doable with AU?
    Thanks for any insight.
    Khalid

The Port Mapping "rules" on the AirPorts will allow you to: 1. Map a single port to a single IP address OR 2) Map multiple ports to a single IP address.
What you won't be able to do is map a single or multiple ports to multiple IP addresses.

  • Unable to see Airport Express from Windows Airport Utility

I am setting up an Airport Express to connect remote speakers for a friend with windows base system. The router is a TrendNet.
I have managed to add the Airport Express to the network. I can ping the router, and if I put in the IP address to Airport Utility it is found and I can configure it. Airport Utility on it's own however will not find the Airport Express.
I can currently play to the Airport speakers from multiple iPhones also on the network, so I know that part is working as well. What is not working is the Airport Express is not showing up in iTunes as an available speaker. I am guessing that as the Airport Utility also will not recognize it that is had something to do with firewall rules on the Windows 7 computer or Trendnet Router.  I checked Windows 7, and there are four Bonjour entries and one iTunes entry. All seem set open for incoming requests.
At this point I'm puzzled. Any network gurus out there have new ideas?
    Thanks
    Gary

I just ran both the verify and repair options on both the permissions and the volume. The ~/Library permissions are repaired, but that was all. I also checked the software update, but I have all the latest installed, it seems.
Where can I check my AirTunes version? I tried spotlighting for it, but that search came up empty. I did install the version that came with the AirPort Express. It says "AirPort 4.2", so I guess that's the version installed at the moment. My iTunes version is 7.0.2. I upgraded the firmware to version 6.3.
I have very little knowledge of networking, I'm afraid, and I'm starting to think that maybe the problem could be my router being set up in such a way that it won't allow the AirPort Express to connect properly.
The reason I believe it's my network rather than the AirPort Express is because when I reset the device, I see that new network named "Apple Network xxxxx". When I connect to it, iTunes properly displays that AirTunes selection box in the lower right and I can stream music to it. With the ethernet cable plugged in, the sound does lag every now and then whenever I use an applications that needs Internet access.
The MacBook, router and AirPort Express are about one to two meters apart (that's three to six feet, I think). I'm not quite sure if the SpeedTouch router is set up properly. Luckily, a friend of mine who's a system administrator is coming over today, so I'll ask him if he could have a look at my network setup.
Thanks for all the help and the fast replies! :^)

  • I am unable to see my Airport Extreme/Express on my MacBook via Airport Utility

    I have two issues:
    1. I am unable to see my Airport Extreme and my Airport Express via my MacBook Air's Airport Utility when I scan for Base Stations. However, the computer is happily connected to the wireless network of my Extreme (the Express is used to extend range)
    2. I am unable to see a HDD that is connected via USB cable to the Airport Extreme.
    Any suggestions welcome.
    Thanks

    Further info:
    Setup
MacBook Air running OS X 10.5.8
    AirPort Extreme Base Station
AirPort Express used to extend range
    AirPort Utility v5.5.3
The MacBook Air is actually connected to the wireless network provided by the two AirPorts!
Oddly, I see both AirPorts just fine when using my older PowerBook G4 with an older version of the AirPort Utility.
In addition, I cannot see the external HDD connected to the AirPort Extreme Base Station, and my wireless printer (HP D410a) suddenly stopped working via the MacBook Air. However, it works just fine from my iPhone, which is connected to the same AirPort Extreme/Express wireless network.
Recently, at the request of Sky Broadband, I switched to fixed IP addresses instead of DHCP, as I was having issues with the DHCP set-up.

  • How do I get my airport extreme to stop recycling? Using OSX 10.7.4, Airport Utility 6.1

How do I get my Airport Extreme to stop recycling? I'm using OSX 10.7.4 and Airport Utility 6.1.

The Airport Extreme is putting out the signal OK. Gan use my iPod no prob. The Mac goes from 'On' to 'looking for networks' back and forth all the time.
As Apple has said the AirPort Extreme is functioning correctly if other devices can connect. You have a Mac issue, so that is really a question for the support area for your Mac.
I suggest that you try one of these general areas, then pick out the specific model that you have:

  • How do I access an older AX in a newer vesion of the Airport Utility?

I have had an AX network for over 3 years and have had no problems with it. I just bought a new one to add to my network and I am having all kinds of problems now. Airport utility recognizes both units, but will not allow me to access the older one. It states "An error occured while trying to access the Apple wireless device. Make sure your network conection is valid and try again. Error -6765". Does anyone know what this means?
I did a factory reset of the older unit and I am still having the problem. I thought if I could update the software on the older one that it might work, but it won't give me access to do it.
    Please Help!!!!!!!!!

My airport utility does not find my airport express device

In order for the AirPort Utility on your iOS device to find the Express, both need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. By default, the Express will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a network name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN. Can you iOS device find this network?

How do I clean up my new FIOS connection? I just cahnged ISP Fios and they reqquired a router of thier own in front of my AirPort Extreme. Since then I have blinking yellow light on the AirPort and AirPort utility keeps promting for an edit. Suggests canging from NAT to "Bridge mode". Obviuosly U have some internet or this post would not go anywhere, my knowledge base is not enought to feel comfortable with changing the settings. Correctly editing can be tricky, so how do I make necessary changes?

How do I clean up my new FIOS connection?
The FIOS router needs to be in Bridge Mode to prevent the Double NAT error from occurring when two routers are both fighting with each other for control of the network.
Unfortunately, the likely problem from the FIOS side is that FIOS support will either tell you that their router cannot be configured to operate in Bridge Mode, or if it can, they will not tell you how to do it.
But, it could not hurt to check with FIOS to see if anything might have changed recently in this regard, so your first call would be to FIOS support.
If you cannot change the FIOS router to Bridge Mode, the alternate plan would be to change the AirPort Extreme to Bridge Mode. If you are using the Guest Network feature on the AirPort Extreme at this time, that feature will not work correctly when the AirPort is set up in Bridge Mode.

Unfortunately, you are describing the symptoms of an AirPort Extreme with a failing (or failed) internal power supply.
As a last resort, try a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Extreme as follows:
Power off the AirPort by pulling the power cord
    Wait a minute or two
Hold in the reset button first, and keep holding it in for an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back into the AirPort
Release the reset button and allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart
Now try to configure the AirPort again.  If you continue to see the same symptoms as before, the AirPort will need to be replaced.

  • Setting up airport express with airport extreme 802.11n with Airport Utilit

    Hi,
I'm having trouble setting up my airport express(AX). Having recently bought the new Airport Extreme (AE) basestation, I can't figger out how to set it up to recognize the AX and allow me to stream airtunes. Previously I had the AX setup fine, but once I installed the AE, it no longer was recognized.
After resetting the AX, the airport Utility recognizes the AE and the AX as basestations, but I don't want to have to switch back and forth from wireless networks everytime I want to listen to music in another room. Airport Admin seemed to have been wiped out when I installed the AE, so any documents I've found on the Apple site refer to AA and not Airport Utility.
HAs anyone set up their AX on the new AE basestation?
    thanks!
    Rene

I am currently experiencing the same issue, except that I cannot for the life of me get the AX to:
    1) Stop flashing yellow - numerous resets -soft to default.
    2) The airport utility will not recognize it.
The airport utility sees the AE no problem, I got that up and running after a few restarts and am now able to log on to the network with my laptop.
I am new to Mac's and this is the 1st time I have tried to set up a network with one, I was excited about being able to use the AX to play my iTunes through the stereo in the other room and to hopefully use it to connect my X-Box to the internet. But I am starting to think that this is either above my skills or a fruitless endeavor. Any help would be most appreciated!
    Thanks

  • New Airport Express is not discoverable by Airport Utility

    Hello,
After searching the forums for a while and not finding any posts that really address the issue I'm having, I've finally decided to create my own post.
I received a brand new Airport Express from my girlfriend for Christmas. I've finally gotten some time to set it up, but I seem to be having some issues with Airport Utility even seeing it. I haven't even been able to set it up because I can't access it. Airport Utility simply says that it cannot find any Apple Wireless devices and continuously asks me to rescan.
The first time I plugged in the Airport Express, it flashed the green light once like it's supposed to, then the light turned to solid amber for a couple of minutes, then started blinking. It still does this even after I do a factory reset.
Very rarely Airport Utility will see it, but it takes a lot of rescans before it finally does. When Airport Utility does finally see it after several rescans, I enter manual setup, enter my information and click Update. After I click update, I'm no longer able to connect to the Airport Express at all until I do a factory reset. Then it takes a lot of patience and several more rescans until I can finally connect again.
I first placed it directly below my desk, but have since tried many other locations throughout the house to see if it was location that was the problem. That is not the issue.
The intention is to have it join my current wireless network, so I do not have an ethernet cable plugged into it. I've tried plugging one in, but with the exact same results (Airport Utility still can't see it).
Any ideas as to what may be the problem?
    Thank you!

    Bob Timmons wrote:
If AirPort Utility is still having trouble "seeing" the Airport Express (AX), temporarily connect an ethernet cable from your computer to the AX. You may need to move the AX close to your computer for this and restart both your computer and the AX.
Once you have the AX configured, you can move it back to the desired location.
So I am able to connect to the Airport Express via an ethernet cable and configure it like that, but I am still unable to connect to it wirelessly. I wonder if there could be something wrong with the unit itself? After configuring it, I can't even see it in the Airport menu on the menu bar on top.
    Any other suggestions?

  • New airport extreme not recognized by airport utility

I've got a 2011 MBP. Right now I have an older Airport extreme up & working with my Time Warner cable modem. When I tried to connect my new 802.11n airport extreme, I couldn't get it to stop blinking amber. First the airport utility told me that I didn't have a valid IP. The second time, after unplugging everything (cable modem & plugging it back in & resetting the airport, the utility couldn't find the router at all.
The manual says contact your cable company, but I got someone who's only solution was to go to system preferences/network & see if "airport" was checked. The second time after specifically asking for someone who understood macs,I got a bit more useful info, but it still doesn't work. I've unplugged everything countless times, reset the airport extreme, renewed the DCHP twice, restarted the computer & swapped out the ethernet cable. Still no luck. Any ideas?

  • Airport Utility not always recognizing Airport Extreme

I recently bought a new Airport Extreme so I could connect wirelessly to my iTunes library (which is too big to fit on my hard drive) and stream music to my receiver. I hooked up a USB external drive with my library on it to the Airport Extreme and I'm using my old (pre-2005) Airport Express in client mode to stream music to my receiver..
The problem is my MacBook can't consistenly connect to the network. I'll get a "connection failed" message when I click on AirPort Extreme under "Shared" in my finder window and when I run Airport Utility, it will say "AirPort Utility was unable to find any AirPort wireless devices." Restarting solves the problems sometimes, but not all the time. It seems kind of random but it's very common.
Does anybody have any hints that might help my MacBook consistenly connect to the network? It's really annoying, especially when I start up iTunes to listen to music and it gives me that "the song cannot be found" error message.
I realize the problem might be my old Airport Express, but I'd rather not spend the $99 for a new Airport Express if I'm not absolutely sure that's the problem.
    Thanks!

Airport utility has long had a "bug" where it randomly doesn't see a base station or remote. Sometimes refreshing brings it back, sometimes just letting Airport Utility (AU) sit for a while brings it back.
The only way I know for a fact to bring it back is to unplug the station, wait ten seconds, plug it back in, wait until you get a green light, then launch AU.
Also, make sure you have the latest version of AU, and the latest firmware update for the base station (both of which appeared yesterday).
    Good luck,
    Matt

  • Since latest update to airport extreme im getting 10 unknown base station and time capsule items showing in airport utility as a network.  when able to "forget" them they initially drop off but soon return. how do i get them deleted and stay that way

since latest update to airport extreme im getting 10 unknown base stations and time caps showing up as though they are a part of my network. sometimes i can "forget" them and they will disappear initially but soon return. i need and want only my connection inside my home . any ideas. i have done a factory reset and set up a new network but they continue to show up.

I'm not convinced that the problem lies in Airport Utility. This same thing was happening to me, nearly exactly as you describe it. The thing is that with me, the problems clearly started when I updated the firmware in my Airport Express (n). That's when all the wacky stuff started happening. Sometimes it would show up in AU, sometimes it didn't and even if it didn't, I could still access the internet through it.
But as you said, the problems got really bad when another Express (b/g) was put on the network with it. Even when it did work, the (b/g) would make it impossibly slow.
You know more about this than me, and clearly have more patience if you've restarted the network fifty times. I gave up at about ten.
In any case, your solution is more of a work around and if you're still having that slow connection problem, I'm not sure you've got it. But thanks for your reporting of this. At least I know I'm not crazy.
