Airport utility 6.3.4 can not find my airport extreme 802.11ac

Sometimes the program loses contact with Airport Extreme 802.11ac with firmware 7.7.3 The internet is OK and the internettlight is green but the software seems not to find my Airport Extreme 802.11ac. The curios thing is that the airport utility app on my Iphone will find the Airport Extreme and from here I can restart it - which (obvious) solves the problem - for some time
Probably a known problem!

The problem is with Yosemite. We have seen many posts from users with "disappearing" AirPorts, but unfortunately there does not appear to be a reliable solution at this time.
Some users have reported that turning off the Firewall on their Macs has helped with this issue. Not sure if you want to try this, and we are not really recommending that you do this, but it might be worth a try if it is important for you to be able to "see" the AirPort Extreme in AirPort Utility from your Mac.
Another check that you can perform that might help is to see if your Mac has been bitten by the Yosemite "naming" bug. To do this, open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock) and then open Sharing.  Check to make sure that the name of your Mac is displayed correctly.  If you see a (2), (3), (4) etc added to the name of the Mac, edit the name to correct it and restart your Mac.
You may need to check this daily as when you have the bug, the "naming" will likely continue until we get a fix.

Airport utility can not find my airport express...
I was trying to connect a PC  (Windows XP) laptop to my wireless network via the airport express.
I have a Mac with an airport that I use to get internet in my other room.  I am trying to get internet on the laptop too.
I somehow manage to erase my network & now my airport utilities won't even scan/recognize my airport??
ANY help would be appreciated, mac helpline wanted $59 to help & I live in a small northern community where they do not have anyone that will address a Mac issue!!
    Thanks for your time.

Thank you SO MUCH Tesserax for taking the time to help!
I powered everything down, slowly powered everything else up from the modem to the airport then the computer.  I then reset the airport & rescaned it through utilities.  I set up a new network & voila!  wireless up & running again.
I am going to try to connect the laptop to the network now.....well, mabey tomorrow night, I've had enough for 1 evening!
I will update....or possibly be begging for more help...we'll see!
    Thanks again for your time!

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
In AirPort Utility how is your AirPort Extreme configured in the AirPort panel, Wireless tab, Radio Mode list? If it's set to 802.11n only the AirPort card in your G5 probably doesn't support that.

  • Airport Utility can not find air port extreme base station

I am running XP home on my computer and have an air port extreme base station connected to it wired. I have no problem connecting to the internet yet more times then not the air port utility can not find the base station. On occasion it will find it but most of the time it can not. Rebooting does not help.

I recently purchased one of the new Airport Extreme base stations and after carefully reading the instructions; I first installed the Airport Utility 5.5 that came on the CD onto my MacbookPro. I then connected the new base station to my macbookpro via Ethernet and power it up. I copied a previously saved configuration onto it. All my printers, IMAC and macbookpro were able to connect.
I then used my older base station and my airport express to extend the N and G networks through the house. My problem was (1) the new Airport utility would consistently lose the older extreme base station and the airport express, (2) An my HP printers keep losing the wireless connection to the new airport extreme base station. The only resolve was to consistently restart the new base station, after which (1) the new airport utility would see the older base station and express again and (2) the wireless connection to the printers would be restored.
After about a week of this, I removed the new Airport Extreme and replaced it with the older extreme (802.11N DRAFT) and de-installed the Airport Utility 5.5 and re-installed Airport Utility 5.4.2 and everything works fine.
Has anyone else experienced any problems with the newly released Airport Extreme (fully 802.11N) base stations and Airport Utility 5.5?

  • HT201974 i can not find my Airport on the network interface no anywhere, how do i bring m Airport back

help can't find my Airport anywhere? can not bring it back on or up, it doesn't appear anywhere?

Since you have an OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard question......and we handle questions about the AirPort routers here...... your best resource would be the Snow Leopard support community forum.
I suggest that you post in that location. The link is here:

  • I just purchased a new airport extreme 802.11ac I set it up and runs fine when i put my mac to sleep i come back and it can not find my airport i have to restart

I PURCHASED THE NEW AIRPORT EXTREME 802.11AC I SET IT UP AFTER I PUT MY MAC TO SLEEP I COME BACK AND IT SAYS CAN NOT FIND AIRPORT EXTREME I HAVE TO RESTART AND IT FINDS IT.

Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

  • I have had a time capsule for years and it worked well.  Now my airport utility states it is unable to find any airport wireless devices.  When I rescan, I get the same response.  I access the internet wirelessly through my Time Capsule - that part works.

My time capsule is currently not backing up my MAC.  My airport utility states it can't find any airport wireless devices.  But I can access the internet via my time capsule.  I was trying to reset my time capsule but it won't let me since the airport utiity states it can't find any airport wireless devices.

i was having the same problem. i held the reset button on my airport express for ten seconds, waited for it to restart and than unplugged my internet modem for 15 seconds and waited for it to restart and my wireless worked. but when i go to setup everything through the airport utility everything goes to crap and i have to start over again. i don't get it.

  • ITunes can not find my airport express

Hi I'm having a lot of issues trying to setup my airport express.
It's wired to my 3com router, on my computer, using airport utility 5.6.1 for windows, I can manually access to the airport express configuration, but the automatic scan can't find it. I put it on bridge mode.
With the computer I can connect wiressly to the airport express or the router (on both cases I can use the ip of the airport expess to access it).
Itunes refuses to find it. On the airport express I enabled the airplay check and on itunes the " allow itunes audio control from remote speakers".
What else do I need to do to listen to my itunes music from the speakers connected to my airtunes express?
    Thanks.

I was able to fix it, the problem was that I used a VM and the virtual ethernet connected to the airport was not the same as the one mapped to the wireless connection.

  • My computer can not find the airport device

I think I have tried everything, but my computer does not find the device in utilitys. The problem I have is that I-tunes does not find the speaker that is connected hvis mye airport express. But sometimes it works...
I have connected express to broadband and it is lighting green (my Zeppelin is working just fine with it). But when I start utilitys, does it not find the device.
What options do I have, what can I do different?
Thanks for all help I can get :-)

  • When is airport utility going to be fixed to find older Airport Express base stations like A1084?

I find it in poor taste that Apple doesn't support their older Express base stations on a network if you use the updated utility version 7.6.4. The solution they give of reverting back to utility version 5.6 is not acceptable to me. Is it to anyone else?  Please fix this Apple.

"When" and "Why" questions can only be answered by Apple. Only they know the "when" and "why" about anything.
You posted on a user-to-user forum. As you already know...since you did read the Terms of Use Agreement for this area....Apple is not here.
No one here knows anything about what Apple might do or when they might do it.
If you want to provide feedback to Apple, you can do so using the link below. But, do not expect Apple to respond other than acknowledge that that received your feedback.

  • My computer and phone both can not find the airport wireless connection even though the status light is green whats going on?

I have cox as my internet provider and the last couple weeks i have been having a ton of connection problems. The status light on my airport express is green but my computer is saying the connection is timing out and my phone is having issues connecting to the internet even though it says it is still connected to my wireless network. is it my airport express or something else?

Manually mount the TC in the computer..
In finder use Go/Connect to server.
Type in the name of the TC or its IP address.. I recommend you use all names of SMB standard.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric. That will give you much less trouble.
So AFP://TCname.local (where you use the TCname replaced with the actual network name of the TC. local is the domain by default.
You can use alternative AFP://TCIPaddress like AFP://10.0.1.1 (default IP of TC as router). This is only useful when the TC has a static IP.
Make sure ipv6 is set to link-local in all the network adapters in the computer and the TC.
Then go to TM preferences and you should see the TC listed as a possible target for TM.
    Read Pondini for other issues.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
    eg C9 about long names.
A1 to get log info from TM
A4 to reset the TM setup.

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Your system details don't mention what type of Mac you have, but if you can move it near to the AirPort Extreme and connect an Ethernet cable to a LAN port on the Extreme, then AirPort Utility should be able to see it. Once AirPort Utility can see it you can begin to investigate the problem in more detail.

  • The airport utility does not find my Airport Extreme. I tried to reset the base, but I can`t make it. What can i do?

The airport utility does not find my Airport Extreme. I tried to reset the base, but I can`t make it. What can i do?

Please perform a Factory Default Reset exactly as follows:
Pull the power plug from the back of the AirPort Extreme (AEBS)
    Wait a minute
Hold in the reset button first and continue to hold it in for at least 7-8 more seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the AEBS
Release the reset button after the 7-8 second hold period
Allow 30-45 seconds for the AEBS to restart
Temporarily, connect a spare Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AEBS
Open AirPort Utility to see if can now see the AEBS

  • HT4262 where can I find AirPort utility 5.6 - my old Airport express module is not supported by Airport Utility 6.1.  I was directed by the program to this page, but I can not find that application anywhere on Apples's webpages.

Airport 6.1 does not support my Airport module (the second iteration), and tells me to download Airport Utility 5.6.  I can not find it via the directed link from Airport utility 6.1 nor anywhere else on Apple's web site.  It is also not on the App store.
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

My airport utility does not find my airport express device

In order for the AirPort Utility on your iOS device to find the Express, both need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. By default, the Express will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a network name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN. Can you iOS device find this network?
