Airport Utility all grayed out?

I use Airport Express / Utility v 5.1 on my iMac and it has worked well untill recently.
But now I can´t use Utility anymore to set up Airport again, most of the functions in Utility
are grayed out. When I tried to reinstall it I got the following message:
Airport can´t be installed on this disk. The version of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported.
I have installed Airport Express Client already plus an update of Utility v5.5.3
Unfortunately, I have still no green light on the unit and can´t use the speakers in the living room.

Hi, I seem to have the same problem. Airport Utility 5.5.3 and recently upgraded to Itunes 10.4. Wanted to play through my remote speakers which are plugged into the aiport express which is showing a green constant light, but Itunes said could not find remote speakers. I had to select computer speakers and then the option to select remote speakers at the bottom right of the itunes screen disappeared. Ran Airport Utility but the scan said it could not find any airport wireles devices and most of the airport utility menu options are greyed out.
I use a BT homehub for internet access and nothing changed there. Can you help please? Thankyou

I tried hooking the cable up from DSL and plugging in Airport Express but get blinking Amber light and in airport utility all the options like assist me, manual setup,restart,restore to default settings are greyed out. I cant find a setup assistant only the airport utility. ive also tried unplugging airport express and reset it too please help.

Can you see the AirPort Express in AirPort Utility?

Ort Express- my network suddenly not showing up. System preferences, advanced/network shows network. Opened Airport Utility options grayed out except configure other but no luck. No set up assistant option to reenter. Not sure where to go from here?.

My network suddenly not showing up. Openend system preferences/Network & my network is there. When I open Airport Utility, most option are grayed out except "configure other" with no change. Utility does not provide option for setup assistant where I could just start over. So no wifi without network set up and can't use ethernet/router to troubleshoot. I am stuck any assistance helpful.

So I went back to the PC after my original post, and somehow I was able to connect to the AirPort wireless network in the Windows Wireless Network List. Once I did this, it showed up in the AirPort Utility, and I was able to access the internet. I have no idea what fixed the problem, but maybe it was simply a matter of waiting a few minutes before connecting to the network?

If I go to disk utility, to the left it lists "mac os x base system", but if I click on any of the tabs it is all grayed out.

Your HDD needs to be replaced. It apparently is dead.

Anyone know why I can't edit my app screen when I plug in my 3g iphone now? I can edit all the other tabs, but my app tab is all grayed out and I can't add/edit any apps now. Please help?

Yes, it's checked as it's how I left it when I was able to edit the page before...now the whole tab is just grayed out and I can't check or uncheck anything. Nothing happens. So frustrated...thanks for any help or suggestions. I have multiple devices on my account and this is the only one that this is happening with when I connect to iTunes. Ugh!

There are no more future updates for iPhone 3G. There is probably a hardware issue with your phone that an update would not fix.

I cant play any songs from icloud on my iTunes. they are all grayed out

when i try to get my music in my itunes, it is all in the icloud and they are grayed out and there is not an option for me to download them. what am i missing?

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.

Verify Disk under disk utility is grayed out

When I go into first aid in disk utility, and click on my system drive, the verify button is grayed out.
If I remembered correctly, I was able to verify my system drive before.
Any idea?

You could check that Journaling is enabled on the drive - in Disk Utility > File menu > Enable Journaling

HELP!!! Please!!! Music in "On This iPhone" tab is all grayed out

Hello guys, I am using iPhone 5, 64 GB with 7.0.3 iOS 7.
My problem at the beginning my songs won't show in Recently Added playlist then it developed to songs are not synced and I am left out with the rest songs.
I deleted all songs from my iPhone and tried to re-sync again but nothing is downloaded in my device.
The music app shows no content! I went to iTunes and opened on this iPhone tab and all songs were there but grayed out with dotted circle in front of them!!!
I tried everything: sync and re-sync, delete songs and re-sync, restart iPhone and Mac. WiFi sync,......
I am panicking and I don't to restore my phone.
By the way I am using Mavericks on my macbook pro with the latest iTunes 11.1.2!

the problem is still remaining even with 7.0.4 and the latest itunes (I don't remember the version)
this is really furstrating and I'm sick of my iPhone!
I don't think I will ever buy a new iPhone again after this huge pain! I think this is my last iPhone for life!

Reformatted computer with Windows 7 now iTunes apps all grayed out

I got a virus on my computer and had to completely wipe everything clean and start fresh as if it was a new computer. Since I was doing that I decided to upgrade my OS to Windows 7 (had been on Windows XP). Anywho, since I've done that and reloaded iTunes all of my apps in iTunes are grayed out. I can see all the apps and i can sync my iPod to iTunes, but I can't actually select any to put on my iPod. I can't manage my apps on my iPod screens on iTunes. Since I've done this (two months ago) my iPod has remained the exact same unless I have directly purchased apps from the iPod. I can't use my computer to manage my iPod at all. I have added home sharing, I have authorized this computer. i still am stumped and have no idea what to do. I only use the iPod for apps (mostly for my kids) and I am so frustrated that I can't reorganize things on the different screens. I can't add any of the apps I have in my iTunes. Ugh...please help. thx.

I did not back up, however, I don't have a problem with lost or missing apps....I can't even access the apps that I've transferred from my iPod touch to the new iTunes, nor can I access apps that I've downloaded.....I can see it all, it is just all greyed out and I can't manage the different screens on my iPod touch via iTunes like I used to. Basically iTunes won't let me do anything but sync, but even the sync is useless b/c I can't access the apps that I've updated to my iTunes.

Video options almost all grayed out -- but camera works

A number of quite important options are grayed out of my iChat, and I don't know why. For example, under Buddies, I can't select anything under "Send Instant Message". Most importantly, I can't select "Invite to video chat" or "Invite to one way video chat." Here's my setup.
I have a USB camera plugged in and working in iChat 4.0.5. When I say working, I mean that there is a little green video camera next to my name, and I can see myself (live) in the video pane when I select Video>Video preview. The camera is a Logitech Notebook Deluxe. It shows up in the System Profiler and, as I mentioned, it seems to work with iChat.
I tried the suggestions in this post, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9772013&#9772013, but it did not work.
Is there a certain provider (e.g., AIM, google) that does/doesn't work. I tried AIM and google and -- nothing.
Anyone know what's going on?

In Leopard and Earlier you have to set your International Preferences in System Preferences to the United States. Some people have said this works if you are not in the United States but you can only Contact US phones.

File, edit, layer, etc - all grayed out. why??

I'm trying to edit some photos in Photoshop CS5, and suddenly the entire bar across the top has become grayed out. I can't do anything - what happened?

If file and edit are greyed out something went terribly wrong. As that should not happen. Has your licensed expired? If not try resetting the preferences, next uninstall then reinstall next contact Adobe support so they can check their servers and make sure your license is activated and you don't have more than two computers activated.

Can't cut copy paste; all grayed out?

I just download a movie from an archive site. I chose mpg-1 as the compression and sent it to my movies under applications. I opened it up and the file read .mov. I then opened it up to cut away un-needed parts by using the slider clips. When I got to edit, the cut, paste, copy, trim selection options are grayed out. I have QT Pro and am using QT 7.0.4 I'm a little new at this. What can I do other than opening it in imovie because that keeps the entire file in place. Any ideas?

I chose to download a mpg file. It reads as a .mov after download. Shouldn't QT work? Or is it not really a .mov file?<<</div>
It is downloaded as an mpeg file but when you used the browser plug-in you apparently chose "Save as Quicktime Movie." That puts a QT or .mov wrapper around the file. If you choose "Save as Source." the downloaded file should be saved exactly as the file was on the sending site.
Even though the file may have a .mov icon it is still an mpeg inside the QT wrapper. QT will not support the editing of the file or allow the export of sound to any new format. QT Mpeg Limitations

Prime 2.2 and 2960-X Edit Switchport Config all grayed out

Hi,
I have Prime 2.2 deployed and working well for our 4500X's and 2960-S's however for a pile of 2960X-24PD-L and 48-FPD-L when we go Configure -> Network Devices -> <switch> and select "Switchports" to make changes for example to the access VLAN of the port, everything on the page is grayed out.
The other 2960-S and 4500X's allow us to change, inventory and sync is completing properly - any ideas?

Hi Afroz appreciate you getting back to me so quickly, already have device pack 2.24 on the instance unfortunately.
Initially the 2960X would not display Switchports under the configuration tab however after a restart of NCS and a full sync, it did (yes I had rebooted post device pack install) however it just shows port information greyed out.
On the 3750X if you edit a gigabit switchport, some ports will show greyed out, others are editable.
It's like its read only which doesn't make sense?

Can't figure this one out - Buddies all grayed out - show offline.

Just helped setup a new Mac convert and I am at a loss to get his iChat to connect. His new broadband connection is Cox cable using a Scientific Atlanta DPC2100 Series. Web browsing is good and fast. When I carefully set up his Buddy list, and have the iMac firewall off, the Buddies remain greyed out even when we confirm by phone that they are online. They also show him as greyed out on their iChat. To simplify, I disconnected my Powerbook with iChat, iSight, etc. all working perfectly from my DSL connection. I then carried and connected to the DPC2100 directly with Ethernet and confirmed web browsing. But, my iChat did the same thing, showing Buddies greyed out and offline and they could no longer see my presence online either.
The only variable seems to be the switch from DSL (ok) to Cox Cable with the DPC2100. Then, returning to the DSL all is fine.
I discussed this with Cox ??tech support?? and two different people said it had nothing to do with the cable modem or their connection. It appears that expecting ANY support from COX cable tech is a losing proposition, so I am turning to logical Mac users. Thanks for any ideas to resolve this.

Generally go for something that is not going to handle VoIP as well. (Not SIP Aware)
On the other hand if he has a install CD that came with the device there might be Read Me with the default IP Listed to make Access.
Or try the Scientific Atlanta Website (although I can not get the page to load today (Sun 22nd)
This Forum item suggest the default IP is 192.168.100.1 but also suggests problems due to the ISP this was supplied from.
