Airport Utility can SEE TC, but not CONFIGURE it?

I received my 1TB TC about a week ago (dual band).
Setup
I have AT&T U-Verse with a 3800HGV-B modem/router. Before my TC I had a Linksys Wireless router with DHCP turned off (I let the AT&T router handle DHCP). And yes, I turned wireless on the AT&T router to OFF.
I knew that I wanted to let my TC handle DHCP so when I plugged the TC in and "set it up", I went to access the internet and my AT&T router put the TC on "DMZ Plus". The TC is handling DHCP for all of my wireless devices, and the AT&T router has 3 clients (2 cable boxes and the TC).
Problem
Every now and then I will go to access the USB hard drive plugged into the back of my TC and it will time out. Going into Airport Utility, it will recognize my TC, but when I click "Manual Setup" it times out trying to access the TC configuration. Internet still works, so the routing is fine, but I can not configure it. I've tried this on my iMac and my Macbook. The status light always remains GREEN.
The only solution is pulling the power plug.
My TC is on a 10.0.1.X ip schema network and my AT&T is on a 192.168.1.X schema. Am I having a DHCP conflict? Can anyone else think of why this might be happening?
ALL firmwares/softwares are updated. EVERYTHING is wireless with the exception of the ethernet cable connecting my AT&T router to my TC.
I've searched the internet high and low and can't seem to find any answers.

*This just in!*
Apparently unplugging the USB hard drive I have plugged into my TC will resolve my problem COMPLETELY. One question...WHY?!
This doesn't seem to add up, but sure enough -- If I unplug the USB hard drive connected to the TC, I have NO PROBLEMS accessing the configuration for the TC. I did notice that the USB hard drive's power light turns off when the drive is not being accessed.

Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

Have made a rebbot from Time Machine, and now I lack a lot of pictures. Can see icons, but not enlarge them. Especially pictures where 2009 is included in the date is missing? When I set up my desktop, I can find some of the pictures. Where do They hide,

1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

I saw one post where a user said dust got inside the small microphone hole. Using a vacuum cleaner removed the dust and restored the audio.

Airport card can see networks but can't connect all of a sudden

I have an older MacBook running 10.6.8 (snow leopard) and it's been working fine. All of a sudden, it can see networks, but cannot connect. I get an alert with an exclamation point and "no Internet connection". My iPad can connect just fine; same network, same location as usual, so I know it's not an issue with the network/router (my husband's computer works fine as well). If my airport card went, I wouldn't be able to see any networks at all, right? Is there anything I can do? My AppleCare has run out, due to the age of my computer and I don't want to put hundreds into fixing it, either (nor can I afford it). Has anyone had this happen? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Airport express: iMac read/write to pc, pc can see iMac but not read/write

airport express: my iMac can read/write files to my Windows 8 pc, not reverse. My PC can connect to my iMac (it shows on the PC as a network device) but cannot see any files or folders. Airport docs suggest that my Documents folder should be visible. Tried enabling access everywhere I can think on iMac such as SMB. Any help?

I've managed to work out how to share my desktop and the external drive attached to it via wireless so my Macbook Pro can see, open, and edit and save photo files via Photoshop Elements.
I can also then view and edit them through the Windows PC - though they say some properties are missing this I can live with.
Therefore no re-formatting needed, and no downloads either.

Airport Utility can't read my AEBS configuration

I know there have been thousands of questions/answers to this topic, but I'm stumped.
As of last night, my AEBS has not been cooperative. It has been working perfectly ever since I got it last December. As far as I know I have not made any changes. I am running 10.5.8. Everything is up to date. My airport utility is able to locate my device, but as soon as I press "continue" it can't read the configuration & comes back with an error saying the utility was unable to find my airport wireless device. And yes, I've tried everything.
-soft reset
-hard reset
-using ethernet cable
-re-installed airport utility.
-restart, unplug, reboot, etc...
-searching countless forums, posts, blogs all to no avail.
I'm having to use my neighbor's wireless connection to get on the internet. The odd thing is that I have a business VOiP phone connected to my router, and it works just fine. I just can't configure my AEBS now that I restored it to it's default settings. Boggling my mind.

I'm having a similar problem. It turns out that there is some kind of voltage issue on the WAN side of my equation. I bought a second Airport Extreme, thinking my WAN port was smoked. When I plugged the WAN wire into the new Extreme, everything worked. Old Extreme, I get Ethernet unplugged. Worked for about a week on the new one, then rebooted the new Extreme and kaput, nothing works. I tested the WAN connection to my Macbook - works great. If I take a Dlink router, plug the WAN into that, plug another wire from the DLink to Extreme WAN, Airport is happy.
There is a specific sensitivity (voltage?) to the Airport Extreme WAN port that makes it say the Ethernet is Unplugged. As an added bonus, my testing seems to confirm that when this condition exists, the Extreme also shuts down all the other router ports, as over wireless I can not access the other physical segments (i.e. my NAS). Yet if I my WAN is happy on the Extreme, the other ports work as well.

Can see drive, but not volume with AEBS

Perhaps an odd question: I've been using my airport extreme base station as an NAS drive with my Seagate FreeAgent 380Gb drive for some time now, but after moving and setting up a new network (same settings and whatnot, but different geographical location), I can no longer mount the volume through the finder. I can see the drive using the Airport Utility, but not the volume that I want to mount. The volume shows up fine when I plug directly to my computer.
Oh, and it's mounted NFS+ and Disk Utility doesn't see any problems that need repairs on it.
Does anybody have any insight into this issue? Anybody else had the same problem?

is this only while using the remote app on the iPhone? if you just use the regular appleTV remote can you click on an play streamed (i.e. unsynced) content?
I have all the latest updates and don't have this problem at all but i don't have an iPhone to use as remote...

AEBS was working fine including the 7.1 update except printer wasn't working. As I attempted to trouble shoot network, AEBS stopped working. I tried accessing it through airport utility but it couldn't find the base station. I have now done a hard reset four times and though airport utility will recognize the base station it gets hung up trying to read the base station configuration. So I can't troubleshoot the AEBS from airport utiltity and the yellow light keeps flashing. What do I do now?

I had the same problem and a hard reset (6 seconds on the reset button) was recommended by Apple Tech support and that did it for me. The AE was back being seen and allowing me to reconfigure it from scratch.

My AirPort Utility CAN see the time capsule...

But for some reason I can't access it. I don't see the Z drive in "My Computer". I'm on Windows Vista, and I used to be able to see it, but I can't anymore! The time capsule was unplugged for a while, otherwise I am not sure what happened. Even when I plug my computer into the time capsule directly, it doesn't "see" it as a drive. Help please!! Open a command prompt and ping the TC.
Use windows explorer and type the IPof the TC directly into the address bar.
\\TCIPaddress
The actual IP of course.. not the words above. .ie \\10.0.1.1
If that fails then the issue is vista has moved to work or public.. move it back to home area.. and turn off the firewall.

Can see folders but not files after a restore

My friend had his internal HDD replaced. The tech performed a fresh install from a default image on the new HDD, and then copied the files from the dying HDD to the new install.
Now, when he navigates his user home directory he can see all his folders, but can't see his files within them. I'm thinking this is because there is different UserID on the files. Am I correct that Unix will allow you to see the directories (if the group is the same) but not see the files within them, because the UserID has changed?
I've had some people suggest the following commands to fix it via vark.com:
Suggestion 1:
sudo chown -R yourAccountName /path/to/the/folder
Suggestion 2:
If it really is the user ID (check by opening Terminal and typing
ls -laF
to see who the files belong to), then it's probably easier to just change the owner of the files, again in Terminal by typing
chown -R <shortusername> /Users/<shortusername>
There's GUI tools for that, too, but you'd have to Google.
Suggestion 3:
yeah, common problem. bring up the 'Get info' panel for each of the folder(s) with this problem, and use the Sharing & Permissions section at the bottom of the panel to re-set permissions to your new users/groups, then click on the 'gear' icon and click 'Apply to enclosed items...'
Do these look correct solutions based on the symptons? I've not been able to get hands on access to the computer yet, otherwise I'd use terminal.app and check out the permissions myself.

Yeah, I'm not convinced the tech has done the job properly since when he logs in he can't see his files!
Given the tech knew my friend's password, I suspect that after he created a new install from the default image, he then added a new user with the same name / password as my friends original account.
This would almost definitely create a new UserID wouldn't it?

I Can See It But Not Join It

I've recently setup a Snow basestation to my cable modem (comcast) and have a connection issue. One desktop (running 10.4.7) is going into the back of the basestation and it's online just fine. My laptop (also running 10.4.7) is not able to get on the network. I can see it in the list of networks in the Airport menu item, connect to it and even see the signal strength in the menu item. I just can't actually use the connection...safari says I'm not connected and the same goes with the network preference pane. Any ideas?

OK, here we go!
First of all, delete all of the "preferred addresses".
Second, delete the DNS address of 10.0.1.1.
Third, turn off 40 bit WEP for now. We will turn on WPA when you successfully connect.
Channel should be automatic...what version of the Mac OS are your running? You have a old version of the AirPort software.
Get rid of "belkin" as the domain name.
Your Airport is not distributing IP addresses, it should, click that check box on. "Share a single IP address..." should also be checked.
There is probably no compelling reason to use MAC address verification in "Access Control". Delete that entry for now.
Restart the AirPort.
Your desktop shots are correct for a single computer connecting over Ethernet. I think the problem basically comes down to the fact that the AirPort is not being used as a router, it is not distributing addresses.
If this fixes the problem, make sure you go back in and turn on WPA with a good strong password!

Probably the first thing you want to do is close face time, then doulbe tap the home button to see the task bar... Touch and hold any of those icons until they jiggle, then close them all off by touching the minus sign. Then reboot the pad by holding the sleep and home buttons until the apple logo appears. Ignore the red slider.
Sometimes this reset fixes bugs.
Then, confirm your mike is working. Open any app that records things, and see if it hears you. There have been some discussions about broken mikes.
Then try it again.

How do I make a form viewable on a Blackberry, can see form but not data in fields

I have many clients using Blackberries, when they recieve a form via email, they can open the form but the fields are blank. Do I have to save the form as a certain type for then to be able to view it. Have extended the rights

Your users would have to be using a PDF viewer that supports form features. I can't recommend any in particular but you can try looking around to see what's available.
