Airport Utility doesn't see either AXpress.

Tried to add a newer AX (A321-n type). Utility does not see either.
1084 worked well before. Need to start from scratch.
Set up 321 with ethernet cable but when cable was disconnected Utility does not see 321.

You should reset the AirPort Express (AX) back to factory default settings as follows:
Power down the AX
Hold in the reset button and while you continue to hold it in, plug the AX back in to power
Keep holding the reset button until the amber light blinks quickly
Hold another second or two and then release the reset button
It will usually help AirPort Utility to "see" the AX if you temporarily connect an ethernet cable from your computer to the AX. When you have it configured and updated, you can disconnect the ethernet cable.

  • Airport Utility doesn't see functioning Airport Extreme Base Station

I have an Extreme (n) Base Station which serves as a WDS main with one relay Express and one remote Express. All three are functioning properly. Now I want to add a second remote Express paired with the main Extreme. However, Airport Utility doesn't see the Extreme, even when hardwired. So I have no way to add in the Apple ID of the new remote.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Is it necessary to restore default settings on the Extreme and reconfigure EVERYTHING?
    Thanks.

Not yet. Hoping there is some other approach, since if I reset it and then it loses the connection before configuration is complete, I lose the functions that are working now.

  • My Airport Utility doesn't see my Airport Express??

My Airport Utility doesn't see my Airport Express. . .so I cannot run iTunes. . it used to work fine. .

Version of utility, and express? Makes a huge difference.

  • Airport utility doesn't see airport

My Airport Extreme has been working perfectly for several years, including printing through it.  Suddenly, when trying to print from either of the 2 computers on our wireless network, the printer cannot be found.  Further, Airport Utility does not see Airport, and yet we can still access the Internet through our network (i.e., no device is showing in the left pane, and there is a message that there are no wireless devices seen).  The printer prints fine when directly connected to each of our computers, so the problem is apparently not with it.  Any suggestions??

Temporarily connect via Ethernet to the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) and configure the AEBS to use a channel between 1 and 11.

  • Installed the latest update, now Airport Utility doesn't see Airport

I ran the latest update, now my Airport Utility claims to not see my Airport Extreme although I'm still on my network.? Any suggestions before I completely reset the AE to factory settings and start over.

I purchased a new Airport Extreme last week, I run a home network with a G5 desktop and a G4 Laptop running 10.4.10. It took me a while to set it up as I entered the wrong password for my ISP SBCGlobal. After I finally had it going I had a couple of occasions where Airport Utility did not see Airport but I still had the solid green light on Airport. I am not sure what I did that resolved the problem but I know I did a restart one time and my Airport showed up. I may have also reset my base station and re-entered my info but I no longer have the problem.

  • Airport Utility doesn't "see" my base station now

I've got an HP Pavilion running Vista. Have an Airport Extreme base station which was working fine with it, both Internet and Bonjour, until I had a problem last week and had to do a factory install from a disc.
I had a backup, and restored using that, but now Airport doesn't recognize the base station any more. I plugged my Internet in using an ethernet cable and downloaded the very latest Airport software. I tried turning off both Windows firewall and Norton firewall. No help.
I poked around Airport Utility, tried to open the baseconfig file. It asks me what folder it's in. I've done a Windows "Search" and there is no such file on the computer.
This base station continues to work fine with the Intel iMac a few feet away. My Pavilion just seems to be missing something after the restore. Thanks for any suggestions.

Any thought on what settings I need to change on the PC to get it to see the base station?
Often, this issue is caused by either the Windows Firewall blocking the attempted connection, or by the anti-virus software doing the same thing...or, it can be a combination of both things.
Check the settings on both applications to look for "blocked" connections and change the status to "allow" the connection.
No guarantees, but this will solve the issue perhaps 60-70% of the time.

  • AirPort Utility can't see either AEBS or AirPort Express using either comp.

I have an AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) and an AirPort Express (APE). The dsl connects to the AEBS via ethernet (in the first slot), and the AEBS connects to the desktop via ethernet (in the second slot; it has no AirPort card). The PowerBook (PB) connects to the network via its AirPort card, and the APE is used to extend the network range.
All of this worked as of last night.
This morning when I woke the PB, it wouldn't connect to the network automatically. I tried to connect manually, but it wouldn't accept the password. (Maybe I'd forgotten, when's the last time I had to enter it?) I went to the desktop to set up the AEBS to reset the password. Both the AEBS and AirPort Express showed up on AirPort Utility (AU) on the desktop before doing so.
After resetting the password, neither showed up in AU. (I suppose it's not surprising that the APE wouldn't, but the AEBS is connected via ethernet, and the ethernet is working or I couldn't connect here as set up.) I get the message that AU can't detect any Apple wireless devices. I rescanned several times with no luck. And I have pressed the reset button on the AEBS to no avail.
I also can't see either the AEBS or the APE with the PB, which does have an AirPort card, as I mentioned.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Theirry, I had (among all the other things I'd done) already pushed the reset button for a little while, but that didn't work. So, not knowing what else to do, I pushed it and held it while I counted to ten three times, and that worked. Probably one could get away with less.
After that, I had to start over again with the AEBS on AU, but I gave it the same network name and the password I thought I remembered, and the APE rejoined it automatically.
    I hope that helps.

  • Airport Utility doesn't see Airport Exteme (White space ship, NOT THE BLOCK

Seems to be a 10.5 issue, my 10.4.11 machine and Airport Admin utility works fine BUT, my Leopard machines are online just fine and the Admin Utility or the Utility do not see the AEB--AGAIN, THIS IS A 802.11G WHITE SPACE STATION SHAPED AEB, NOT THE NEW BLOCK OF WOOD SHAPED AEB I've already read about the apple fix for reseting AND IT DOES WORK for this model.
    Any thoughts out there?
    G

Mark, I'm sorry to seem obtuse, but I remain confused. Since no one else is jumping in to help you, please help me understand.
The link you referenced doesn't seem to have anything to do with the 802.11n AEBS. That unit has its own forum and this isn't it. Apple hasn't made things easier by giving two different Airport units the same name, but since yours is not an 801.11n AEBS, don't get sidetracked by it.
The Apple procedure for resetting the AEBS that you have is detailed here. You said it works for your model AEBS which it certainly should. How were you able to determine this?
Next, if you're getting online with all your computers, and the issue is just that your Leopard clients can't see the AEBS in Airport Utility, I'd begin to suspect something is wrong with a Preference file related to Airport Utility. I don't have Leopard, but there must be a file that corresponds to something like the following:
    ~Library/Preferences/com.apple.airport.airportutility.plist
Try dragging it to the Desktop, log out, log in again, and see if that changes anything. If it doesn't, try the same technique with the following Preferences file:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
You'll have to recreate your System Preferences > Network settings after this one.
If it mucks up things even worse, you can always drag those files back and undo those steps, but I think a Preferences file somewhere is to blame.

  • Airport utility doesn't see airport extreme

i bought an Airport Extreme to replace a Linksys router that works but with a weak range.
I disconnected my Linksys router and plugged the cables into the Airport Extreme as per the instructions (btw, i don’t know why Apple has to use the silly little icons instead of labeling the WAN connection ‘Internet,’ but whatever.) I plugged in the power. The Link light for the connection came on.
The Airport Extreme status light glowed amber.
I ran the Airport utility on an iPad. It says it doesn’t see any Airport Extreme.
The Airport Extreme started flashing amber.
I read the troubleshooting instructions. I powered down the cable modem. I pushed the reset button on the Airport Extreme. I unplugged everything, plugged it in again. I tried the Airport utility on an iPhone. It said it didn't see any Airport Extreme. I checked the Airport utility on the iPad. Still didn't see anything.
I plugged my Linksys router back in and everything works.
    Huh?

Power off the cable modem for 5-10 minutes to allow it to reset. It will not recognize the AirPort until it resets correctly.
Connect the Ethernet cable from the cable modem to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort
Please go back to the home screen on the iPad
    Tap Settings (gear icon)
    Tap WiFi
Just under the heading of Setup a New AirPort Base Station, a listing of AirPort Extreme should appear.
    Does it? If yes,
Tap on AirPort Extreme to start the setup "wizard" and follow the prompts.

  • Airport Utility doesn't "see" TC

I had a perfectly working TC and now all of a sudden it is no longer visible in my Airport Utility.
I have cable internet connected to a Airport Extreme which is my base station. I'm trying to have my TC join the Wireless Network created by my AP Extreme, but if I can't see it I can't configure it ... Anyone???

    Hello there,
I initially also reset my Time Capsule; both a soft and hard reset. What's the difference? Read [here|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728|Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ]. However, it did not work thereafter.
In the case that resetting does not work, you can try what I did to get things working again.
    1. Switch off and unplug Time Capsule and modem. Leave as is.
    2. Open Disk Utility. Repair "Disk Permissions", and maybe verify the disk if your Mac has been acting up. During the permissions repair, I noticed a lot of Airport Utility components were listed.
    3. Shut down the Mac. Unplug it. If it's a portable, remove the battery as well. Leave as is for 30 minutes.
    4. After 25 minutes, plug in and connect both your modem and Time Capsule. Power up your modem.
    5. Start up your Mac after the half-hour wait.
    6. Upon login, Airport Utility detects the Time Capsule, Time Machine detects the disk again and I can set up the wireless network.
If these steps don't work, then I would suppose something is wrong with your Time Capsule hardware wise, so bring it in for repair.
    Hope this helps.

  • Airport Utility doesn't see Airport Express

I have an Airport Express (wireless G) which is a couple years old. I am staying at my sisters for a couple months while going to school and brought it with me so I could get a wireless signal in my room since her router doesn't have wireless. I tried using the Airport Utility to scan for the Airport Express but it never finds it. Can I use this utility or do I need something else for this older Airport? If it is supposed to work; what might I be missing?
    Thanks

I have since done a reset to factory condition and tried again and it seems to be working now. I unplugged it from the power held down the reset button and plugged it back in continuing to hold down the reset. I think you have to hold it down for nearly 10 seconds until the light flashes green 4 times and then release the button. Then try scanning for it again. It still took a little longer than I expected for it to find it after that but once it did I have not had any more problems.
At least with it; my sister is on windows and that is another story!

  • Ipad 4, 3 feet from my Airport Extreme. Airport Utility doesn't see anything, yet I am connected to the internet. What is the problem?

I am not pleased with the wireless connection in my house, as wireless access points of my neighbors is stronger than my Airport Extreme. It is physically the closest access point for my Ipad, my wife's Ipad and my Macbook Pro. I wanted to check the channel setting by using Airport Utility, and even though there is confirmation of internet access (posting this from my Ipad), it cannot find any Airport base station. Anyone have any idea why? Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently the problem is with the app on my Ipad. Airport Utility on my Macbook found both the Extreme and Express. Appears an app update is in order.

  • HT1998 How can I administer a Gen 1 Airport Express from Airport Utility 6.3.2 (OS 10.9). I can see the base station but get the message: "This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more inform

How can I administer a Gen1 Airport Express from, my MacPro (OS 10.9, Airport Utility 6.3.2). I can see the Express in the WiFi window but from the Airport Utility I get the following message: " This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information." Of course there's nothing of value on the support page. Any clues anyone?

Apple has dropped support in Mavericks (10.9) of the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme models that were discontinued more than six years ago.
You can still administer the older AirPort models if you have a Mac running Leopard, Snow Leopard, or a PC.

  • Airport Admin Utility Doesn't See Basestation But Setup Asst. Does

G4 won't connect to established Airport network that my MacBook Pro and PC do connect to. Admin Utility doesn't see basestation even though it is listed under the Airport icon at the top of the screen. Using Setup Assistant it sees the network, but when I enter the correct password it gets an error.
This system has worked perfectly in the past.
I suspect the transmitter in the G4 Airport card has dropped dead. Any other ideas will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

The configuration for the Extreme base station asks if you want 802.11g or 802.11 b&g. I had checked .11g only forgetting that my G4 Airport card was .11b.
    Pilot error.

  • Cube doesn't see either station.

    Hi there,
I was checking my Cube(10.3.9)the other day to make sure the internet was working as I have it in my guest room for peple to use.The network that came up was 'default'.It worked fine but when I tried to log onto the network I created it gave me the 'error joining network'.
Also the Airport Admin utility didn't see either Extreme or Express. When I typed in the password in Internet Connect it kept adding a dot to the password.
Also, the internet on my iBook and iMac,both connected to my network, started being really slow....pages loading slowly etc. Then I noticed that only one of the base stations would show up in Admin Utility on the iBook.
Any thoughts on the Cube?Would that affect my other network?
    Thanks for any help.......

Yes it did.....but wouldn't let me join no matter how I tried.
What type of encryption are you using? Your cube will not be able to join a WPA2 encrypted network. Did you try disabling encryption?
...but the Airports not showing up in the utility was stranger.
That's a different issue. I wouldn't worry about that until at least you get the cube to join the network. If the cube joins the network then you will have Internet access and know that the cube works.
