Airport will not turn on after sleep

I have a new iMac 20" flat panel. After a short sleep the computer wakes up fine and airport is switched on. After a long sleep it stays switched off and will not turn on, even manually. System reboot turns airport on again.
I have no issues with network connectivity (once airport is on!)
Any advice please?

Stuffer, Welcome to the discussion area!
If you have a new iMac you have an Intel-based iMac and should post your question in the Intel-based iMac discussion area.
This is the discussion area for the much older iMac G4.

  • Airport will not turn on after Verizon software installation

I recently installed Verizon Wireless - VZ Access software on my MacBook Pro to access the internet via cell service. Somehow that installation wiped out my dial-up configuration (reset up successfully) and perhaps my Airport Extreme, which shows up in the menu as "Not configured." Verizon tells me that they can't help me reset my Airport because it will not turn on. I'm sure the modem is functional...works with my husband's iMac 20 using his Airport. Network Preferences tells me that the Airport status is OFF, but when I click on the Airport and select "Automatic" in the location menu, airport status reverts to "Inactive" and "Turn Airport On" is grayed out.

Problem solved by AppleCare tech. Create a new location for my Airport and reestablish the configuration.

  • IPhone will not turn on after Sleep during Camera app.

Over the last two months, my iPhone has refused to turn on 4 times. In each of the cases, I was using the Camera app and pressed the sleep/wake button while still in the app.
In all cases, I was able to reset the phone (sleep+home for 10 sec.) However, what really bothers me is that two of the times, the battery was fully drained (from about 85% in about 4 hours). I have a feeling the Camera app is still running even though the screen is dark and unresponsive.
I have tried unsuccessfully to replicate the problem intentionally.
Does this sound like a HW or SW issue? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

This happened to me just last night. I was looking at photos (as opposed to taking them), left the photo showing and let phone sit on the table until it slept... it just didn't wake. Thought it was a battery issue (I was down to about 30% remaining), but connecting to power did not wake the phone. Plugged in overnight, but nothing changed, and no battery charging took place.
Power+Home restart did wake it this morning, but this was a bit disconcerting to say the least. I'm almost hesitant to want to replicate the behaviour.
FYI, I spent the weekend taking pictures using Camera, then putting it to sleep until the next picture. iPhone always woke fine, but after using Camera to view the pictures last night it didn't wake up.

  • My iPhone will not turn on after a yet another blue screen of death. Please help!

As mentioned above, my phone will not turn on after a yet another blue screen of death. All of a sudden it turned off, and it wouldn't turn on for quite some time, even after I plugged it in the charger. It wasn't long after the screen turned on, but it only displayed a bright black. I decided to turn it on and off a few times. Nothing worked.
I have also tried to call the phone from another one. It was as if the phone was simply off.

    Hello ZarinaUrum,

  • Light will not turn off after installing new cyano cartridge

Light will not turn off after new cyano cartridge installed

I suspect that the ones that say they will work with Windows 8 on the box.  If it does not say that, check the maunfacturer's website.  They eventually will have to give Windows 8 support for the new cards or loose out to the competitors cards.

  • Iphone 3gs will not turn on after attempting a factory restore

My iphone 3gs will not turn on after attempting a factory restore, all that happens is the apple logo appears the timer goes round then stops.  It then switches itself on and off several times to no avail.

  • My iphone will not turn on after I replaced the battery

My iphone will not turn on after I replaced the battery, itunes logo comes up, but it will not connect and does not reset! does anyone know what I can do?

Who replaced the battery, you, Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider? If you did it yourself, then you could have done anything to disable it. It also voids any warranty and post-warranty support from Apple and the forum. You are on your own. If Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider replaced it, then take it back and have them check it.
The iPhone does not have a user replaceable battery, or user serviceable parts. It is meant to only be serviced by Apple, or authorized service providers.

  • Airport will not switch on after waking up

    Hello,
    Try deleting this file; com.apple.airport.airportutility.plist
    /Users/YourName/Libary/Preferences.
Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. See if Airport wakes.
What is your internet configuration? Airport Express/Base Station/Router ... ???

  • IPad 2 will not turn on after Update 6.1

I've read a number of discussions on the issue, but have yet to find a solution. I am using an iPad 2 (version A1395).
I tried updating to iOS 6.1 over WiFi. It seemed to download well enough, but when it got to the installation, it kind of fried my iPad. It will not turn on. I have tried all of the following:
    1. Pressed the Home button (also tried holding it down).
    2. Pressed the Power/Sleep button (also tried holding it down).
    3. Pressed both at the same time (also tried holding it down).
    4. Held the Home button while connecting to a PC via USB.
    5. Held the Power/Sleep button while connecting to a PC via USB.
The only action that gets any response from the iPad is plugging it into power brick via USB. The Apple logo will appear briefly, indicating that it's powering on, and then it shows the "Connect to iTunes" graphic. Nothing more. If I unplug from the power brick, the screen turns off. Plugging it into a computer after that does nothing.
    Any ideas?

I had this same problem with my iPad 3 (Verizon 4G, wi-fi) when I did IOS 6 update wirelessly last night.  I could only leave one device at a time attached to my computer, so I left my iPhone 4S plugged in to the computer and updated to IOS 6 via iTunes.  The iPad was updated over my home wi-fi network and plugged in to the charger. I was prompted to enter my Apple ID & Password on both devices and appeared to have successfully upgraded to IOS 6 on both devices.  I even was browsing in briefly in the new Safari on the iPad to make sure it was working, then left it to finish charging overnight.
I left both plugged in overnight and when I woke up this morning, the iPhone was fine and the iPad won't turn on.  I tried the remedy here by holding down the power & the circle button in front for 2 mins and still didn't go on.  Please help!

  • Phone will not turn on after resetting

my phone was acting up, not responsive. i reset by holding down sleep and home button together until apple symbol appears. after letting go and apple symbol is up for a few seconds, it goes back to black screen and will not turn back on. help!!!

Start with your computer open to iTunes and the USB cable plugged into the computer but not to the iPhone. Hold down the Home button on the iPhone as you connect the USB cable to the iPhone. Continue holding down the Home button until both screens acknowledge the connection, then release.
This will allow you to restore the iPhone, which is unfortunately likely needed.
The process may take 30 minutes, so have time.
    Good luck
