Airport working with my desktop, but cannot get my Iphone to recognize base station

Airport express, brand new, seems to be working with my desktop, just fine, and playing Itunes thru airport. However, cannot get my Iphone 5 to recognize base station. Seems to periodically work, but not consistently. Is there any setting change on the iphone that will help?

Happy Holidays! If your iPhone 5 is not consistently connecting to your new Airport Express, try these troubleshooting steps:

Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
recently used Bluetooth accessories
VPN and APN settings

Is "Sync Apps" in the apps tab checked? If it is and they still won't sync, uncheck it then run a sync, then recheck it and run the sync again. If that doesn't help, on the phone itself, go to your app store, tap on updates, then go to purchased, and tap the cloud button next to them to redownload.

Airport works with macbook pro but not TitPBG4?

Hi I am setting a studio up in my garage. My MBP gets on the airport network no problem. My PBG4 doesnt yet it does when in the house. Is the airport card in the PBG4 more likely to suffer from a weajer signal or interference?

Hi, Thomas. I can't give a general answer to your question about Airport reception in the TiBook vs. the MBP. But it certainly seems that your TiBook, under your specific circumstances, isn't doing as well as your MPB, and there are several approaches you might take to get your Tibook on your network when you're using it in the garage:
1. Move your wireless router or Airport base station closer to the garage, if possible.
2. Run an Ethernet cable from the router to the garage, so the Tibook can use a wired connection there.
3. Add an external antenna to your TiBook's Airport card to boost its range.
4. Buy a pair of Powerline wall-plugged ethernet bridges such as the NetGear XE102 to send a wired ethernet signal through your household AC wiring to any part of the house where your TiBook doesn't have good reception. (I recently did this myself, with marvelous results.)

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and its the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. How does iCloud have anything to do with this, you have 2 email accounts, neither of them an iCloud account?
If you want to get Gmail on your iPhone add it to your iPhone. Same goes for Outlook.

I have turn off the bluetooth, loaded the lastest software on the IPhone, turned off and on the printer, router, phone, and reset the WEP secure code on the printer for my wireles router. My compac laptop print wireless. Lost.

What router? Do not use WEP, it is not in the least secure. Switch your security to WPA with a 13+ character password.

Even if it was compatible, AirPrint does not work through a USB link, only Ethernet or WiFi.
I do not see your HP 4500 listed on Apple's list of AirPrint compatible printers. <iOS: AirPrint 101> Therefore you need to take another approach. To start, I suggest you download the free HP App, ePrint Home & Biz. It has limitations, but should get you printing with your existing setup.
There are other printing Apps with more features such as Print n Share and PrintCentral, but they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.
Your best option may be to share your computer's printer as AirPrint over WiFi. Programs that are reported to do that well are Printopia and FingerPrint. Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print. <Printopia for Macintosh> <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

I have successfully changed my apple ID and password, but cannot get my Mac computer to change it on iCloud. I have accessed system preferences, iCloud and sign out. But now I do not know how to sign in using my new id and password. I would like iCloud to work on my Mac so that it will sync to my iPhone and iPad. I have installed all of the latest software. How do I change this account on my Mac?

Do you have your Mac backed up?
If not, you should use Time Machine to back up your Mac to an external hard drive just "in case".
But if all you did was change your existing ID, then deleting the Calendar infomation from the Mac when you sign out should not be an issue. Since it is the same Apple ID, it is the same iCloud account (just with a different name), so your Contacts, Calendars, etc. are stored in iCloud. When you sign back in, you will have the option to sync Contacts, Calendars, Notes, etc. with iCloud - it should already be checked. Just sign back in, and your iCloud info will re-download to your Mac.
I just tried this, and all of my stuff showed up when I signed back in. Notes took a couple of seconds to load once I opened them, but they are all there.
Note: If you are signing on with a brand new Apple ID, then nothing will be downloaded because it will be an entirely different iCloud account. But if it is the same Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID with just a new email, then it will all be restored.

I have a WiFi connection from an international hotel, but cannot get on line even though my laptop wireless is working fine. I have the Cell off. Also tried Airplane Mode ON and WiFi On. Any suggestions?

I am using WiFi for my laptop from the hotel room in an international location.
I have tried everything but cannot get my iPhone5 to connect to the internet from the room (where room # and name need to be entered first) OR the lobby (open WiFi).
Cell is off, Roaming is off.
I tried turning phone off, turning on with Home button pressed to reset, Forget Network and re-connect. No luck.
A friend has an iPhone 5 and it works just fine.
Any suggestions?

Maybe this can help someone else... I simply had to properly uninstall CS3 and reinstall it again after that. I think that sorted it! I also remember having a similar issue with Macs at work a couple of years back. Not sure whether the same applies to CS5/CS6. Retail Leopard disc looks like this;
(The disc itself has the same logo). If the one you've got is grey it simply won't work.
Given the retail and second hand prices of Leopard (usually some on Amazon MP), you'll probably find it cheaper to go directly to Snow Leopard, although there could be software updates and printer driver problems that could nullify the difference.
