Airport works on laptop but not on pc

this problem is with my friend. he just got an airport express for his home. he is running windows xp on both of the machines. the laptop picks up the internet but the desktop doesn't. the desktop does recognize the network though. any ideas on what the problem could be. i'm stumped.

Airport works for ibook but not desktop?

Hi All,
I've got a G5 iBook and a G4 iMac. We've used a DSL modem to connect to the internet with no problems. Recently a friend gave me an airport extreme he no longer used. I've managed to get the iBook working on it, but the desktop doesn't find the server, even when connected with an ethernet cable. No, the desktop does not have an airport card. I'm a bit frustrated, would love some advice, direction, support, insults. Anything at this point.

Definitely got the LAN connected between the desktop and the AEBS properly.
However on the WAN port- if I send the WAN between the DSL and the AEBS, then there is no input into the DSL from the phone service. In other words, there is one LAN and one WAN input on both the DSL and AEBS. Unless I can just pop a WAN cord into the LAN site on the DSL, and connect it to the AEBS? I'm not as edumacated on networking as I should be. Plus I'm disgusting myself with the use of acronyms, BTW. Ha.

AIRPORT WORKS ON WINDOWS BUT NOT ON MAC OSX

I own a Mac Mini Intel and I have installed Windows XP with bootcamp. In Windows XP I can connect to my wireless router (and Internet)without problem, but not in Mac OSX. I had this problem with the 10.4.x version, and although I have upgraded to Leopard, the problem continues the same. I can access the router in Windows and change any settings (I say that for if someone knows the solution and it includes changes in the router). Has someone had this problem before? Has someone any solution to this problem? Thank you.

I just bought my first mac, a MacBook and I love the way everything works - a great computer. Tho I like OS X, I still need to use XP time to time so, I got boot camp naturally and installed XP on it. Everything went smoothly.
I have a wireless network with Belkin ADSL/Router. In OS X, I have no problem connecting to it. I use WEP on it. But when I try to connect to it in XP, it just wouldn't even establish a connection. In fact, it seems to somehow screw up the wireless router in the process that when I go back to OS X and try to connect to it, it won't either until I reset my router. In my limited understanding, I suspect the driver on XP not working very well.
Can you help? When I look at XP device manager I do find some strange USB device that isn't working properly but Airport is reported as working fine.

Airport works for iphone but not for imac

Hi,
My Belkin router, airport express, and printer, all show that everything is fine and my iPhone is able to connect wirelessly to the network via the airport.
The problem is my computer registers the airport but can't find the network or the printer.
In system preferences/networks the airport says it is on but it has a yellow dot next to it. Under network name, my internet network doesn't appear.
At the moment I'm connecting through the ethernet and that has a green dot next to it. From this network pane I can turn the airport off and on again and it briefly registers the network, then it disappears again after about 20 seconds.
I've tried rebooting both the computer and the airport a number of times.
Can anyone help?

My computer and airport have been working fine since I bought my iMac a year ago. This morning the computer no longer recognises the network and printer.

I suggest powering-down the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) as a start to rule out any wireless conflicts between it and the wireless Belkin router.
With just the Belkin running, can your iMac now access the Internet connected by wireless to the Belkin?

Firefox stopped working on laptop but not desktop, have completely uninstalled and reinstalled but it still won't work, please can anyone help as i hate using IE.

the program was working fine then suddenly wouldn't connect to anything. have unistalled everything including passwords, add-ons etc and reinstalled but still no joy.

SKy Full TV Listings Working on laptop but not on iPad

On my laptop I can access the Full TV listings for 7 days and also by category, however on the iPad I can only see the current programs and the next hour and cannot see any further in advance. Neither can I select categories or by day but can only scroll down through the full channel list. Is this going to be fixed or is this how it is for iPad users?

I have since downloaded the Sky+ App, which is working OK. It's just that until recently I was able to access the full listings through the website with full functionality then suddenly out of the blue it became very restricted as described in my first post. Although the app gives me all the functionality previously enjoyed on the website, I would still prefer doing it through the latter as I often viewed the listings whilst doing other browsing. I know it is only a matter of a few more button presses to access the listings through the app it was convenient to just press one button in the browser to get instant access, so why the change? Installed new version, now will not load. When tried to remove says Firefox is running and will not let me remove it. Everything works on laptop but not pc

You can't connect directly to the external drive, but should be able to use iTunes Home Sharing via the laptop.

Update: It seems as though the phone will charge if I plug it in and then turn it off. It will not charge while the phone is on. Also iTunes will not recognize it, so I can't sync or anything. Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

I have installed the printer using 'System Preferences' on my i-Mac and it appears on the list of available printers but documents that I create just don't print.
Can someone please advise me how I get the Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer to work with my i-Mac?

Looking at the Konica web site for the PagePro 1300W, I saw the following note.
Please note: This printer is designed to be used in computer operating systems running MS Windows only. Operating systems such as UNIX, Macintosh, or Linux are not supported nor do we have workaround drivers available. Older MS Windows versions, such as Windows 3.1/95/98[pre-SE] and NT 3.51/4.0, are not supported.
So KM are not going to help you. But the LinuxFoundation does provide a workaround that should allow you to print. Have a look at this web page. You will need to install all three packages as per the instructions from that page.

Plugin works on desktops but not on laptops

It makes no sense for it to just not work on laptops, but this is the pattern I've seen so far. When it errors out on the laptops, I get a "Dr. Watson" error: "InDesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close..." When I look to see what the error report contains, it mentions "AppName: InDesign.exe AppVer: 4.0.5.688 ModName: widgetbin.dll ModVer: 4.0.5.688". I've Googled for "widgetbin.dll" but nothing looks relevant.
I have put in MessageBoxes to see how far it gets in my plugin code. It exits the constructor but does not enter the AutoAttach (AutoAttach being the very next routine in my code that gets called on machines where the plugin does work), so I assume it is not being caused by any code I have written.
I know this is not much to go on, but I welcome any suggestions.

I have now installed Visual Studio 2003 on one of the laptops and this did not correct the problem. (I would be using VS 2005 but Microsoft's lousy wizard does not completely convert the 2003 project; it leaves errors including "external symbol not defined" or some such, so I got lazy and stayed with 2003).
Anyway, I've stepped through the code on the laptop and it apparently gets caught when it tries to open an ADODB connection. I am using a Database class that #imports msado15.dll (this file exists in the same location on both machines), only because I found it easier to integrate into my plugin project than say, CDatabase, or System.Data namespace. The "m_Cnn->Open" in Database.cpp executes just before the comutil.h code, which is where it breaks on the laptop:

On the laptop, it just enters "inline _bstr_t::_bstr_t", throws an Access Violation error, and then goes into disassembly. When comparing the variable values in the Autos window between the desktop and the laptop, everything looks the same up to and including the line where it breaks. I can't see any difference. For example, the previous line in Database.cpp, "hr = m_Cnn.CreateInstance( __uuidof( ADODB::Connection ) );" returns a "success" value on both machines.
