AirPrint brother mfc-j430w

is it possible to use airprint whit brother mfc-j430w?

EDLMT hit the nail in the head. I was successful with printing wirelessly from my computer as well as on my iPad with iPrint&Scan. However, when I tried printing a Pages document with AirPrint, my iPad told me there were no AirPrint printers found. One not-so-quick (15-20 minutes) firmware update on my Brother MFC-J430W later and i was AirPrinting the night away!
Here's where you can get the Firmware Update:

  • I recently bought a Brother MFC-J430W, and it is Mac compatible, but no matter what drivers I install, I cannot connect the machine to my macbook pro. The CD for MFL Pro Suite does not let me open the "start up" part so I am very stuck!

I cannot access my MFL Pro Suite CD no matter what drivers I install. I have OSX 10.8 updated right now. Please help, I'll be needing my printer in a couple days for university!

    That's Windows software.

    Hi,
    It won't work with airplay, here is how I got it to work with OSX 10.9.4 fully patched;
you will need to use the serial cable to start the process:
    In-brief Version:
    0) Go grab the firmware update tool, the driver, and the scanner software
    1) Turn off the firewall and antivirus (if you use it ??)
    2) Update the firmware using the serial line
    3) Reserve a static IP outside the DHCP range (using the MAC address of the printer) on your WAP server
    4) Configure the printer to use a static IP through the front panel
    5) Configure the printer WIFI with your SSID and net key through the front panel
    6) Install the CUPS driver on your computer through the printer settings by specifying the static IP
    7) Install the Scanner driver then go into the Control Center and add you computer and printer configuration
I generally use this kind of set up so that the printer comes back at the same place after a power failure in
the event that it has a crappy driver.
For those of you who need a little more help:
    0) Turn off anti-virus and firewall software (it did seem to matter)
    1) Go to the Brother Center and download 1) The firmware update tool, 2) the driver, 3) the scanner software
    2) Go to the front panel on the printer: tools -> all settings -> network -> tcp/ip -> WLAN ; find the MAC address and write it down
    3) Plug the printer in using the serial cable, it will auto detect and you will be able to talk to it.
    4) Install the firmware update tool by double clicking on the dmg you downloaded
    5) Update the firmware and the subfirmware (NOTE: this is a bit finicky -- you may have to unplug and replug it in a couple of times before it starts to talk with the device, after it starts the update process it frequently gives up in the middle, DO NOT unplug the device at this point, just select "retry" from the dialog and it will continue -- it will take about 15 mins or so.
    6) Once the firmware is installed, go to your WAP server and look at the DHCP IP range; typically something like 10.0.1.2 to 10.0.1.200
    7) If there is a capability to reserve an IP on your WAP server pick an IP outside the range in 6 (e.g. 10.0.1.201) and use the MAC address (from step 2) for the reservation... its fine if you don't reserve it -- this is an extra precaution -- just make sure you pick an IP outside the DHCP range
    8) Go to the front panel on the printer: tools -> all settings -> network -> tcp/ip -> WLAN ; then set the IP address:
         boot method: static
IP address: the address you chose in 7)
         mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: the IP of your router -- typically 10.0.1.1
    8) Go to the front panel on the printer: tools -> wireless -> setup wizard -> let it find your network, select it, and enter your key.
    9) Reboot the printer and check it connects to your wireless network
    10) Go to the front panel on the printer, tools -> all settings -> print reports -> network configuration ; print the report and check the IP and MAC
are what you think they should be.
    11) Go to your computer, bring up a terminal (applications->utilities->terminal)
    12) Ping your printer to make sure its up and accessible -- type: "ping 10.0.1.201" (or whatever IP you used in step 7) and check you get a response -- not a timeout -- if it works disconnect the serial line and delete the (serial line) printer from the list of printers  -- you won't need it anymore -- if not you screwed up somewhere along the line
    13) Now the printer is on the wireless network, install the driver by double clicking the dmg. Then go to system preferences->printers & scanners
         click +
in the add menu click IP
enter your IP (from step 7)
make sure the Protocol is IPP
Name the printer and set its location
Go to Use field, in the pull down menu select "Select Software"
Go through the list and find the Brother MFC-9340CDW CUPS driver -- if its not there you screwed up installing it so go do it again.
    14) Go back to the printer page -- select the printer, select Open Print Queue, then select Settings -- check the Driver Version is 4.1.0 -- if
it says 2 you are using the airplay version which seems to be buggered -- so you need to try again.
    15) Go open a word document and print it -- smile you are nearly there
    16) Install the scanner software by double clicking the dmg
    17) Open the Control Center, under the Model: select Other
         Click +
         Select your printer
Enter your computer name in the display name and click ok
    18) Go into adobe Acrobat File->Create->PDF from Scanner (or whatever software you are scanning with)
    19) Select "Brother TWAIN" from the scanner list -- if its not there you screwed up the scanner software installation -- go do it again
    20) Put a document in the top of the printer and press scan -- wammo !
    21) Turn back on your firewall (and antivirus if you have it -- why I can't imagine but what the ****)
    22) Go ping the printer and make sure its still reachable (see step 12) -- if not you need to figure out what your antivirus is screwing up because the firewall is no problem
    23) try printing and scanning again...
    24) rejoice... your done.

  • My printer is a fairly new all-in-one Brother MFC-7860 DW. It is not listed in the iPad AirPrint printers. Can I get it to work with my new iPad2?

My printer is a fairly new all-in-one Brother MFC-7860 DW. It is not listed in the iPad AirPrint printers. Can I get it to work with my new iPad2?

If it's not an Airprint enabled printer, you can not natively through your iPad.  BUT, there are apps you can purchase in the App Store, like Print Central ($9), which is what I use myself and works well for my needs.

  • HT4356 I have a brother mfc-j625dw and it's in the list of AirPrint printers under brother in the iOS: AirPrint 101 website but I cannot print from my ipad2.  Why?

I have a brother mfc-j625dw and it's in the list of AirPrint printers under brother in the iOS: AirPrint 101 website but I cannot print from my ipad2.  Who will i beleive, the website or brother?  I checked the iOS AirPrint 101 website first before I bought my brother printer model to make sure that AirPrint is available but it does not work.  Of course the brother printer salesman said that my model can do ipad2 AirPrint just to sell the unit.  So I made sure that it is possible first so I went to check it in iOS AirPrint website and when I saw the model in the list, I bought the brother printer immediately.  Why?

You're sure that you set the printer up correctly?
Did you try restarting the printer and the iPad?
Have you looked for a firmware update for the printer on the Brother website?
Does the printer work with your computer - assuming that you have a computer that is?

  • How to stop Airprint from kicking me off Brother MFC-J475dw!

Trying to use Airprint through Belkin router with Brother MFC-J475dw printer.
I can get Airprint to recognize and print once, then I am kicked off and the printer is no longer recognized.
The only fix has been the following:
    1.  shut off printer and turn it back on
    2.  shut off router and turn it back on
    3.  shut off iPad or iPhone and turn it back on.
If I do any of the above three, Airprint works fine for a single print.
Then, it kicks me off and I have to go through the above steps.
I already spoke with Brother and they stated that there was some problem with Belkin and Airprint.  He even checked that I was WPA-2 and using AES (which is above my computer knowledge).
    Please help.

    Hello TheHerd25,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you can only use AirPrint once. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
    About AirPrint - Apple Support
    If you're unable to print
Check these things if you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found."
Make sure your printer has paper, and enough ink or toner installed.
Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.
Make sure your printer has power and is turned on. Try turning your printer off and then back on again to see if it resolves your issue.
Check to see if your printer has any error lights or indicators displayed on the printer's control panel. Check the documentation that came with your printer to clear any errors displayed.
Check with your printer's manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available for your printer. Check your printer's documentation or contact the printer vendor for more information. A firmware update may be available, even if you just bought your printer.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Hello, can anyone give us the tips for AirPrint option from iPad to brother MFC 7860DW printer

Hello, can anyone give us the tips for AirPrint option from iPad to brother MFC 7860DW printer

It's possible Brother may provide updates to their printers to make them AirPrint capable or provide app for printing; search the iTunes Store or look to the support resources for your model of printer. For other printers, you can route the printing through your computer. If you have a Mac, Printopia might be worth a look:
    http://www.ecamm.com/mac/printopia/
If you have a Windows system, search the web for something like "airprint Windows hack" and you'll find instructions on enabling printing.
Another option is an AirPrint-capable print server. Lantronix makes a couple of models, including one that supports a USB printer:

  • Is the Brother MFC-465 CN printer an AirPrint enabled printer?

Does anyone know if the Brother MFC-465 CN printer is AirPrint capable or if there is anyway to use it with an iPad please?

You do not have an Airprint enabled printer, but there are options for you.  You can purchase a printing app in the App Store, such as Print Central and Printopia.  I use Print Central (about $9) and it works great.

  • I have a brother MFC-J835DW printer and my ipad can not find it to print?  They are both connected to the same wirelss network via a Linksys router.  Any ideas?

I have a Brother MFC-J835DW wireless printer (which is on the list of supported printers for Airprint), and have both the IPad 2 and the printer connected to the same wireless network.  When I try to select the printer to print fromt he iPad, it cannot find the printer.  Any ideas?

The first thing to do is to make sure that your printer has the latest firmware. You can download the firmware updater from Brother:

  • How do i print using my ipad to my brother mfc-990cw

I have been trying to print from my ipad and ipod to my brother mfc-990cw but it does not let me cause it states that no airprint printers are found, also i have the brother iprint&scan app and it states that the machine and ios devise be on the same network. I do not understand what the ios devise is.

Correcct - your printer is not an AirPrint printer.  Here'a an AirPrint guide, including a list of the printers supported:
    AirPrint basics
So if you want to print to the printer you have, if it's possible at all, you might find a Brother printer utility in the iPad's app store.

  • Scanning multiple pages with preview and brother MFC-7440n

    Hi,
because of some problems with my old scanner after i installed snow leopard, i bought a new compatible one. It's a brother MFC-7440n with apple build-in drivers.
When i start scanning to preview with more than one page, there will be a pdf document for every page. It doesn't matter if i choose "create just one document".
First i wondered because in leopard preview multiple pages are displayed like in snow leopard. But this is wrong. There is one pdf file for every page.
How can i change that issue? When i scan more than one page, i wan't one pdf document with multiple pages, not a pdf per page.
    Thanks a lot.
    Dominik

    Hi Dominik,
What about Brother's scanner software? Do they have a scan program you can use to create multiple page documents? I have a Canon, and its software did that. The only other way is how I explained in my previous post. I have no issue using Preview for the simple document scanning I do. But if you have more needs, perhaps the Brother scan program should be installed.
Brother has issued a scanner driver update on 9/10....
