AirPrint not working

I have found that my HP D110A will often not accept new print jobs. This happens both from my iOS devices and Google Print (which connects to ePrint). It appears that the printer gets into some sort of hung state. When I attempt to print from AirPrint, I can see the printer and submit the print job. But the printer never prints. The best fix I have found is to power cycle the printer. After that, the print jobs work fine (both AirPrint and ePrint). I connected the printer to a timer that cycles the power automatically twice a day, but it seems that even leaving it with nothing to print for a few hours (it was about 6 hours this morning), it gets lost again. I have asked it to update the firmware, but the console reports it is running the latest - TUL1FN1044AR patch 0. Any other suggestions are welcomed. For others reading this, I found two useful items I will share here. First, Google Print allows you to easily map to the HP ePrint service. So you can print to your printer from anywhere within Google Docs. You can also share this Google Print printer with others (like folks in your house), so they can print to it as well. It provides print queue management and all, for free. The second item is that the web interface to the printer will allow you to rename it - both the name it uses as a network device and the printer name it shows up as (such as in the AirPlay list). This can be especially useful if you have more than one such printer.

Hi vwestin,
What router do you have?  Have you checked for firmware updates for the router?  How old is the router?  What is the signal strength at the printer (run a Wireless Network Test)?
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided.

  • IOS 6 AirPrint not working with 10.6 Server - FIX!!!

Not sure if there are any bods out there that use 10.6.8 server for AirPrint but if you do - you will have noticed that iOS6 doesn't see shared printers where as iOS5 does. Below is the fix. You need to be reasonably proficient with Terminal but otherwise - straightforward. Hope this helps.....
(Obviously you can stop the service and use Netputing's AiorPrint Activator but for a server based managed queueing system, this just allows it to works as it did before.)
    10.6.8v1.1 Server and iOS6 AirPrint not working… Fix below…
Stop Print Services and as root from terminal using vi or equiv add the following:
(you will need to chmod 744 to edit then 444 the mime file after. 'touch' the files when your done)
It may work being left rwx but I don't know - I have just put the files back to their original state.
Restart print services after and you are all good.

Arrr - your Printer is AirPrint capable. You are printing direct from an iOS device to the printer. Some printers need a firmware update - others will work with iOS 6 straight away.
The issue above relates to Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 (not client) and in relation to Print Services. You can use 10.6 Server and AirPrint to Any printer you like - not just an AirPrint ones. This is what AirPrint Activator does for client -  the above fix mends for Server.
Glad you got you problem solved anyway.

  • AirPrint not working on my 3rd gen iPod touch

AirPrint not working on my 3rd gen iPod touch.
It works on my iPhone and ipad2.
I have a new HP printer.

AirPring requires a 3G or later iPod.  Are you sure you have a 3G iPod?  A 2G iPod can only go to iOS 4.2.1 and that is what you say you have. If yours is an 8 or 16 GB one it is a 2G. A 32 GB can be either. See:

  • Airprint not working with HP printer after updating to IOS5

    Hi,
I have an HP airprint printer (photosmart B210) that worked fine with my ipad2 and iphone 4 all running ios 4.
Now I have a iphone 4s as well as the iphone 4 and ipad. After upgrading to ios 5, I can no longer airprint from any of my ios devices.
I have tried turing everything off anf back on (including time capsule router, printer, ios devices).
I can see the printer from ios but the job just sits waiting to print. I have managed to print one document after trying multiple times.
    Anyone having this issue?
    Thanks

    BattleAngelita,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
The fact that the SimplePass program is asking your for your Master Windows Password means the program survived the upgrade process to Windows 8.1 -- sort of.
You may want to start with the following:
    Create a Restore Point >>  Create a Restore Point – Win7  OR  Create a restore point Win8
Close all your programs and Shut down the computer
Disconnect everything (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook
Boot the computer and log in
Check to see is SimplePass has sorted itself.
    ==========================================================================
You may want to try to Update your SimplePass program to the latest version in the version 6.x series.
Before you do that, read and follow the instructions to Export your Webcards to your .tsd file.  Regardless of whether the website logins are working right now; you do need this backup in case you lose your HP SimplePass program (through complete removal / reinstallation or though corruption).
Next, consider updating the HP SimplePass program to the latest of the version 6 series.  If you are already running the latest version, consider the other options in the guide, including the "Repair SimplePass" procedure.
Open the file > Click on Download > Click “Open in Adobe Reader”

    Click the Kudos Thumbs-Up!
It is a nice way to say “Thank You" for the help.

  • Hp officejet pro 8600 plus - connected to the wireless but AirPrint not working

i have an hp officejet pro 8600 plus.  had it for 6 months or so.  intial setup went fine...connected to the wireless network with no problems...airprint worked instantly from all of my apple devices.  recently, in the last 3 weeks, airprint has stopped working. when i turn the printer off and turn it back on, airprint will work for about 5 minutes.  but then it stops working.  it is like the printer is losing wireless connectivity, but the wirless diagnostics show it to be connected fine.
i have an apple airport exptreme router.  it is showing to be connected just fine to the network and i can see the printer's mac address as a wireless client in the Airport Utility.
    any ideas?

    Hi henryje,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing these issues. I would be glad to help.
Try changing the channel on the AirPort Extreme router to channel 11 or any channel that seem less congested.
You can check you network channel environment by printing a Network Configuration page from the Wireless Settings menu on printer front panel. The second page of the printout will display all detected networks by the printer listed by signal strength. You can also use InSSIDer: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html
Printers also do not support the 5GHz band, so if your network uses 5GHz only, you can disable this in the AirPort Extreme router config page.

  • HP M451dn AirPrint Not Working After Firmware Upgrade

    Hello All,
Just setup and brand new HP Laserjet 400 color M451dn.
Since this does not have the WiFi option, I connected it via Ethernet cable directly to my NetGear WNDR4300 (N750) WiFi Router, so folks in my office with iPads/iPhones can AirPrint to it.
This worked great, out of the box! iPad/iPhone users could join the WiFi network, and then see the printer with no problem.
However, after updating the printer to the latest firmware (20140708) the iPads/iPhones can no longer find the printer!
The Config Report still shows AirPrint as one of the "Installed Personalities and Options", however, the web-based printer interface does not show Bonjour as one of the Networking options in the Networking menu. (It shows IPv4 and IPv6 only)
I have tried the following sequence without success:
    1. Power-off the M451dn printer.
    2. Power-off the Netgear WNDR4300 (N750) router, wait 30-sec, and power-on.
    3. Wait 2-3 minutes for Netgear to sync-up after power-up.
    4. Turn-on M451dn.
    5. Try finding M451dn with iPad.
    Still getting "No printers found..."
So, did I do something wrong in upgrading the firmware?
Or do I have to somehow re-enable the AirPrint option?
Please help, as I am now most hated amongst the Apple crowd at the office.
    Bob

    Hi @ElBobo
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community,  as the HP LaserJet Pro 400 color Printer M451nw is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging.  When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the HP LaserJet Pro 400 color Printer M451nw support page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.
    Best of luck.

  • AirPrint not working with iOS 5 ...

Prior to upgrading my iPhones and iPads to iOS5 I was able to wirelessly print to my printer which is attached to my iMac (OSX 10.6.8).  A while back, someone on this discussion board posted the following script to run on the iMac to enable AirPrint.  After upgrading to iOS 5 I can no longer print this way.  I even made certain to re-apply the script (because I know that anytime a new OSX is installed on the iMac that it gest reset).
When I select an item to print, the "Select Printer" option from the printer options screen does not find any AirPrint printers.
Here is the thing. We have 2 iPads, on ine I upgraded to iOS5 and can not print.
On the other iPad I have not upgraded and I am still able to print.
So, that tells me it is Not the script.  It is Not the iMac.  It IS the iOS5 install.
launch AppleScript editor and cut, paste and run the following 2 lines:
do shell script "echo '# enable AirPrint
    image/urf urf (0,UNIRAST<00>)' > /usr/share/cups/mime/airprint.types" with administrator privileges
So, can anyone tell me if there is a newer script for iOS5 or some other way to make this work.
    Thanks,
    Brad.

This happened to me as well.  Printing to a USB attached and shared HP Deskjet 6940 printer worked just fine before update to iOS 5.1 even though this printer is not listed as AirPrint compatible by HP.
This is VERY fishy.  Why would something work just fine and then stop after an "update".
I smell collusion between HP and Apple!
Do I now have to go a buy an "approved" AirPrint compatible printer?

  • Airprint not working on Photosmart C140

My C140 printer was working fine with Airprint and after installing a new router Dlink DSL 2680 Airprint no longer works.  The printer is connected to the network and will print from Windows computers.  My Macbook pro could not find it on the network and I had to add it using its IP address.  I'm not sure if this is relevant to the Airprint issue.  I have updated the firmware on the router to its latest version, no change.  I have two ipads and an iphone and none of them are showing the printer exists  I have followed all the support suggestions ie turning off router, ipads and printer and on again etc.  Still nothing.  I have tried the Apple support forum, nothing.  The other thing I have noticed it when trying to connect HP eprint, it does not find the printer either and on my Windows computer it says it is offline.  I have latest ios installed on the ipads and iphone.  Cant thing of anything left to do except bin the printer, which works okay apart from this issue, and try a new one.
Any help offered would be appreciated.  Many thanks in advance.

Also, forgot to mention that the printer has an Eprint button which when pressed should show the email address of the printer, an error message comes up saying not connected to the Server.  Thanks.

  • Airprint not working with 5.1.1

I have a new Samsung 3205W printer which is on the AirPrint certification list, upgraded to the latest firmware. I succeeded a single time to print to it using the photo app, but since then the printer isn't recognized any more.
I'm still able to print to it using Windows and Mac 10.8, but even advertising the printer using the airprint activator on windows and/or macosx no available printer is found. iPad rebooting didn't help either.
    Any hints?

Hi, i have been using the printer for more than 2 years wirelessly without any problem. It is connected to an Asus RT-N56U dual band router with a static IP 192.168.1.10. The router address is 192.168.1.1. The printer has bootp unchecked and preferred DNS set to 8.8.8.8
Now for the first time I am trying to set up ePrint, first login to the printer wirelessly using the IP, then go to web service tab and click on enable, but after a while I get a message "connection error - check internet connection". I have browsed through some of the similar problems reported on the forum and can't figure out what needs to be changed to get eprint working. Tne router and printer are both configured to use WPA/WPA2.
Now another seemingly related problem is Airprint, as I wa not able to find any printer on my IPad running IOS 7.0.3.
The printer is on firmware 20130213. A screenshot of the printer network summary are below:

    Any advice anyone? Thank you!

    Hi Goldenbear,
Thank you for all the information, it is extremely helpful.
For the AirPrint printer disappearing  I suspect that your static ip for the printer is too low and the router assigning that same ip address to another one of your devices. I would recommend a ip address like 192.168.1.150, that will minimize the chance of the router assigning the printer's static ip address to another device.  AirPrint does require multicasting to be enabled.  I have included a document about using Apple's AirPrint.  One section is titled "What if a 'No AirPrint Printers Found' message displays on my Apple Device?".  I suspect you have completed the steps but it's always handy to use as a checklist.
In addition, for the Alternate DNS Address it is currently set to 0.0.0.0 please update it to 8.8.4.4.  That should allow you to enable your web services to setup ePrint. I have tried to include links to all the documents that you will need to setup ePrint on your printer and using it from your iPad.

  • AirPrint Not Working on B210 and IOS5

Airprint had been working flawlessly with my HP B210 and 2 ipads,  iphones and ipods.  I updated 1 ipad and 1 ipod to IOS 5 and they no longer airprint.  The iphone and ipad that have not yet been updated to IOS 5 airprint just fine.  Any solutions?

    sheshewynn,
You can try on the printer:
Go to the Setup menu of the printer (the wrench icon on the home screen).
    Go to Preferences.
    Go to Product Updates.
    Check for product updates.
If any are available, install them.
    Try to AirPrint again.
    If unsuccessful:
    Power the printer off.
Power the iOS 5 devices off.
    Power the router off.
Power the router on, and allow to power up fully.
Power the iOS 5 devices on (Verify they are connected to the network in the Settings app).
    Power the printer on.
    Try to AirPrint.

  • HP 3520 all in one airprint not working. Firmware update cannot proceed

    Dear HP,
Two days ago I purchased a HP Deskjet 3520 ALL in one printer. The installation went smooth and I am able to print wireless with my PC. However I cannot print with my iPad, iPhone 5 and using airprint. I am able to print with my HTC one mobile phone. I already went through the Apple airprint troubleshoot http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/airprint/#section_1 .
Trying to solve the problem I wanted to upgrade the firmware.  But when I try to update firmware with the HP device updater I get the 'Update cannot proceed' message. I have tried a wireless update and an update with my usb cable connected. I have even tried various usb ports. I checked the control panel to see if my device was connected and available and it was. I have reinstalled the driver sofware from the hp website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5162... . I have also performed reset (disconnected ALL cables, waited more than a minute, held the power button for 30 seconds and reconnected the power cable) but with result.
How can I update my firmware to the latest version to check if I can use airprint?
My current firmware version = STP1FN1241BR ( Hp docter)
    I am using Windows 7 64 bit

Sorry for the delayed response. My phone quit telling me I had any notifications.
This could be a number of things really.  Do not forget you can contact HP Cloud Support at 1-855-785-2777 and they may be able to assist you with this (not sure of any policies regarding warranty, etc, etc).
This link will cover some of the basic router settings.  I wouldn't get into anything too detailed so these settings should be easy to change.  I made this post to help me as a reference to network issues.  The info here is from my time with Cloud Support in regards to helping you print from Apple/mobile devices.  Although the post is titled differently, this is the same info I would have given you over the phone.
Let me know if that information helps you any.  Also, try the HP ePrint app and see if the printer is found using that method.  I am always happy to help so let me know what happens.  I will try to keep a closer eye on here for your response.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

    so far have tried the usual things;

    2 rebooting apple devices
3 Restore factory settings on printer and reconfigurung using WPS successfully
4 Turning off, unplugging and restarting printer.
No joy. eprint through my hpemail address works but nothing else.

    I have sorted my own problem and I put this out here for all of you in a similar situation with  airprint issues. The problem for me was my new upgraded talk talk router. Everything looks fine. configures and sets up and should work but if you have the following 2 routers it won't airprint from apple devices;
D-Link DSL 3680 ( may reboot as upgrade ready )
DSL 3780 ( MINE!) " Firmware update later this year"
until this happens you might like to avoid 2 daus of trying to reboot, print, check Ip addresses etc like I did....
