Airtraffichost error New iTunes 10

I keep having an occuring error whilst trying to install the lastest version of iTunes, the error reads :
The file 'AirTrafficHost.dll can not be installed because
the file can not be found in the cabinet file
AppleMobileDeviceSupport.cab. This could indicate
a network error, an error reading from a CD-Rom, or a
problem with this package.
I have tried downloading it from itunes as an update and also from the Apple website but I continuously get the same error.
Any ideas would be greatly appriciated.
Many Thanks

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

    My itunes was playing up.
    Not recognising my iphone 4s.
It then told me I had to install the new itunes to make m iphone compatible with the computer.
I did so and now the itunes will not open saying "Error: New Itunes Library' WHY?!? This is really frustrating me!!
    Thanks.

There are a few things you could try,but what worked for me was to download a fresh installation file from apple.
Your update got corrupted somehow. Doing the usual of going to control panel, clicking on Programs and Features, clicking on iTunes in the list and selecting REPAIR probably won't fix this issue, as sometimes repair reverts the installation to its previous version and then your iTunes Library.itl file can't open because it's from a newer version than the one REPAIR reinstalled. You can try that process, but I doubt it will work.
Do not change any files and/or their existing locations. Also, do not uninstall iTunes from your machine. Simply go to Apple's web site and download their latest version suitable for your particular computer. Once downloaded, double click the installer and follow the prompts. You should be able to launch itunes afterward, and your library will magically re-appear.
Again, DO NOT uninstall the old version, and do not rename, remove and/or replace any of the original files prior to installing the latest version over what's already on your machine. Good luck!

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
If not try a repair install of iTunes, or uninstalling and then reinstalling.

  • I can't open itunes when I click onn the icon the message I get is "error new itunes library"

I can't open itunes..when I click on the icon on my desk top I get the message" error new itunes library". I have windows 7.

    Hi beachy85!
When you remove iTunes, your music on your computer (and your iPod, too) will be saved.
    Let's try this:
Go to "Add or remove programs" in Control Panel.
Find iTunes and QuickTime from this list, and remove them both.
Then, download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the remainging installation files.
For information on the WICU, see this:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Then, go to this page, and QuickTime (get the Standalone version, not the one that includes iTunes in the pack):
    QuickTime download
Then, install iTunes from this page here:
    Download iTunes - 7.1.1.5
After you've done that, restart your computer.
Now, try opening iTunes again. Do you still get that error message, or not?

  • I can't open my iTunes "Error: New iTunes Library" help =(

Starting today, I can not open my iTunes library. Every time I try to open it, a error message shows up saying "Error: New iTunes Library". I don't know how to fix it. I've tried restarting my computer, taking the battery out, uninstalling iTunes (I couldn't uninstall it either! It wouldn't let me), and deleting the recent library change. Nothing has worked. I need help on how to fix it and what the error means please!

Try removing the Genius database.  In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

  • Why wont my itunes start? it just says error new itunes library

my itunes wont start, it just says error new itunes library

You have to go into the iTunes folder, open the subfolder labled "Previous iTunes Libraries" and delte the most recently saved library.  Actually can I assume this is because you installed iTunes 11, then like most people, saw how much the new chanbes suck and went back to an older version.  If that is the case, when you go to your "Previous Library" you have to delete any library that was created with iTunes 11.  I just went through all this on Thursday.
I really hope Apple is listening to all the complaints on here.  The very least they can do is give an option for something like a "Classic View"  like microsoft has done in the past with Office, and Windows

  • Error new iTunes library

Just downloaded latest update....now get error message saying: "New iTunes Library." when I try to open iTunes.

Yes, I got this error too (New iTunes Library) when I was rolling back to Version 10, I found that you have to 'repair' iTunes under the windows control panel (Programs)  to get it to work properly, or at least that was my experience.  Here is a copy of a post I made earlier on how to fix this issue.
<snip...> however If you have the same experience I had you are likely to get an "New Library Error" msgbox with just an OK button on it.  You press ok and nothing happens.  Not promising- but there is a fix.
Next step is to go to the control panel - programs (where you would if you wanted to manually uninstall a program) and find the entry for iTunes.  Right mouse click on it and choose Repair.
Now Windows will go off an do it's thing - this took about 3 minutes for me.
Now you can open iTunes.  You wil notice that all your music and lists are now gone, but don't panic.  Close iTunes.
Go to the iTunes folder on your c drive and find > iTunes > Previous iTunes Libraries > ......
find the file "iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD.itl" that has the latest date BEFORE you update to iTunes 11 if you are reinstalling v10, I would think you should use a later version if you have this issue with V11.  Don't use a version 11 dated library for Version 10, or visa versa or it won't work, copy this file into your iTunes folder (so up one folder level) and rename it "iTunes Library.itl" (replacing the existing file - I usually rename it iTunes Library_OLD.itl)
Now restart iTunes and all your music and lists should be restored.
That is what worked for me.  As always - approach with care.  Your milage may vary.

  • Receiving error new itunes library after update

just updated itunes and can not open itunes. Receiving error message 'new itunes library'
    how can i fix ?

I had the same problem. I simply uninstalled 11 completely off my computer. Then went to itunes.com and re-downloaded it. In your music folder there is a folder "iTunes"  and in there a sub folder named "Previous iTunes Library." When you uninstall iTunes from your computer this folder remains put and is what retains your music library when you re download and install iTunes.
I never use playlists so I wouldnt know if your playlists are saved.
This is how it worked for me, I'm sure there are other solutions to the problem but this is the route I took. Hope this helps!

  • Why when i open itunes dose its say: error, new itunes library

what i said in the headline

The point is that there are four i product users for one computer in my house, and not everyone wants the same music on their device.  Like I said before, the ipod is not syncing to the new library even though I plug it in when the new itunes library is pulled up.  It keeps syncing to the old library...

  • When trying to down load new itunes version, I get airtraffichost.dll, and itnunes will stop installing. HELP ME

when trying to down load new itunes version, I get airtraffichost.dll, and itnunes will stop installing. HELP ME

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The error hints at a similar pattern to those discussed in the first and third boxes of the user tip, suggesting that you've got an outdated .dll file that needs replacing. You should find AirTrafficHost.dll in the one of the following folders:
         C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
         C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
Delete it and then repair Apple Mobile Device Support from the Programs and Features control panel. If that doesn't work go for the full tear down and rebuild.
