Airtunes audio drop with cordless phone call

... is this normal behavior? I kinda don't mined since it's like an automatic mute (although I need to hit play again in iTunes after the phone call). Just wondering if there are configuration options to change this. Maybe switching channels?

Changing channels may help.
Some cordless phones operate on the sam 2.4GHz frequency as Airport and therefore can cause interference.

  • Broadband connection drops when a phone call is re...

    Hi
I am new to this forum so please let me know if I don't supply all the necessary information.
For a couple of months now we have had a consistent problem with the broadband connection dropping when an incoming phone call is received, prior to this it had been fine for a long time.  After making the normal user checks, as recommended by BT, the problem persisted.  A BT engineer visited my house and was able to reproduce the fault at the master socket.  He traced the line back, via the manholes under the street to a connection box outside the village.  After working hard for four hours he seemed to have fixed the fault and was able to demonstrate streaming video uninteruppted by an incoming call.  He told me that he had solved the problem by re-routing the line, he also replaced the mark 2 router with a mark 3 router.  Twenty four hours later the problem returned and is again absolutely consistent - even with just the router connected to the master socket the broadband light will go out when an incoming call is received.  On phoning the helpline I was told that there was a problem at the exchange, which should be fixed within 24 hours, but it wasn't and I didn't hear back.  Further investigation showed that both of these issues had been marked as resolved.  We are a long way from the exchange and have had a history of problems with both the line itself and the exchange.  In the past the hard working BT engineers have always managed to get things sorted out when they have visited.
This time I am struggling, as I can't seem to find the right approach to BT to persuade them to build on the work that the engineer who came out so recently did - I always seem to end up describing the problem from the beginning and then being told that it is my internal wiring that is at fault, nobody will acknowledge any of the work that has been done by the engineer that visited or the person that approached the exchange.
Sorry for such a long post, but it is very frustrating - I have considered changing the phone number so that nobody can make any incoming calls, but then I would have no phone!!
Any ideas would be gratefully received.

    Hi John
Thank you for your very prompt response.  Clicking on that link does not show up any problems in my area or with my line.  I have limited technical knowledge, but what you say about high resistance does fit the facts.  We have had a lot of problems over the years, most of which have been traced back to faults between the box at the edge of the villagae and our house - we have had the line replaced more than once, although I'm not exactly sure what that involved.  In the past the fault that recurred was very slow speed and dropping of the broadband connection, this is different now in that the speed is actually now quite good for our area, but the connection drops when a phone call is made or received.  I did have the fault logged with BT, but it has now disappeared from "track faults" without being resolved.
When everything is working it is a very good service.  My friend in an isolated village in North Wales had BT broadband as soon as his local exchange was enabled.  It has provided faultless service ever since, at a higher speed than I can get on the outskirts of a major city.
Thanks for the support, it has made me feel much less isolated - I'll keep reporting it.
    Regards
    Richard

  • Drop outs with incoming phone calls

My Broadband drops out when I get an incoming phone call. I've changed the filter (twice) but it hasn't resolved the issue. It seems to be OK with outgoing calls, and doesn't always drop with incoming calls - just about 90% of the time. Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Using Adapter with Cordless Phone

Hi everyone!  My family and I are going to live in South America next week and need help deciding whether to buy the Skype Adapter or the Dual phones.  If we use the adapter and get an online number, if someone calls our online number, can we answer the call on our cordless phones?
Also, does anyone know if the adapter has to be connected to the computer to make calls?
    Thank you!!!

Howdy, I think it's unlikely you'll be able to do what you want.  There haven't been any new phone drivers for Palm OS devices issued since the 2005 Phone Link Update, and the Palm OS is essentially dead so there won't be any new drivers written.

  • PROBLEM WITH LANDLINE PHONE CALLS TO FRANCE

Hi, We do have a subscription for unlimited world, but we are getting problems to make phone calls to landline numbers in France, most of the phone numbers starting by +339 do not work. The calls do not even enter. Please let me know what can be the problem. Regards

  • Internet drops when cordless phone rings

My internet is dropped every time my phone rings. I never had this problem before I connected the airport extreme to my Imac. How do I fix this? What's wrong?

Hello mrmikal. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
My internet is dropped every time my phone rings. I never had this problem before I connected the airport extreme to my Imac. How do I fix this? What's wrong?
Most likely the problem is that you are operating both the AirPort's wireless network and the portable phone in the same 2.4 GHz radio band. This is a known problem and, as you found out, the main symptom is loss of connectivity during a phone call.
There are several potential fixes for this:
o Change radio channels on either the AirPort or the phone.
o Change radio bands on either the AirPort or the phone. The newer 802.11n AirPort will operate in either the 2.4 or 5.0 GHz bands. There are also portable phones that operate in either the 900 MHz or 5.8 GHz bands.
    o Use a non-portable phone.

  • Airtunes audio drop out solution that worked for me! :)

setup is DSL modem, AEBS main base station (software v5.6), AE (software v6.2), AE is in WDS mode as a remote base station. I am running OSX 10.4.3, and all software (itunes, etc) is updated current as of 6Nov2005.
using airport admin utility, i set both base stations to "g only" and still had audio drop outs. Then I left both of them on g only and set both of them on channel 5, (was on channel 10 before.) no airtunes drop outs!!
I have been audio drop-out free for a few days now and am cautiously optimistic- enough to post my solution. hope it works for you, too!

Thanks Bryan! Glad to hear you found a solution that works for you. Your suggestions are also among the many solutions previously posted in the mother of all discussions on this topic found at:

  • Interferance with cordless phone

My Airtunes cuts out frequently while on the cordless phone. I have tried all the different settings (channels, robust signal, etc.) in the Airport Utility. Any suggestions?
I don't use it for my internet. Only for Airtunes.

Hello Steve Hoiberg. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, not many choices here. I am assuming the your cordless phone operates on the 2.4 GHz radio band. If so, here are a few things to try:
o Change radio channels on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o Change radio channels on the cordless phone (if it offers this option)
o Relocate the cordless phone's base station.
o Replace your cordless phone for one that operates in either the 900 MHz or 5 GHz band.

  • Audio drops with the 2 gig file limit size between clips

Videoing with a Sony HXR-NX5U, the camera creates a 2 gig file size limit then importing the clips into Premiere Pro CS6. There is a few frames between clips where the audio drops and there is also s very slight drop in the video, this happens only between longer clips. I saw some reference to this in the forum a while back but no answer. Any indeas!!

Simple fix - copy entire contents of SD card to new folder on hard drive, all folder intact. Then in Premiere, import using "Media Browser" rather than "File > Import". With Media Browser, the spanned clips will be properly handled, importing as a single, long clip with no glitches.

  • IOS8 keypad during phone call not registering with automated phone calls

Since upgrading to iOS 8, when I call a number that requires a keypad selection to be transferred to the appropriate extension, somehow the automated service does not pick up on my selections.  This happens every time I try to call a business that has an automated service that requires a number selection to be connected to the appropriate extension.  This is an EXTREME INCONVENIENCE when I am trying to reach my children's pediatrician for a serious matter in which I have had to do in the past 2 weeks.  Please fix this Apple!!!!!

My case with all the notes (6 months worth) has been submitted according to Apple Engineering.
I would suggest anyone with this issue call Apple support, and ask for assistance from senior level support to submit a problem to engineering. Also, submit a feedback request here: http://www.apple.com/feedback
Ask to title your request "Keytone sound during call".
Last, make sure when you call Apple you are ready to run through the diagnostics they will want you to do.
    That is:
    1. Back up your phone first either through iTunes or iCloud.
    2. Restore your Phone.
    3. If you are on iOS7, make sure it's the latest version.
-- If you are on iOS6, the last version at this time is iOS 6.1.4
    4. Be prepared to do that either prior to the call or during.
    5. Ask for your case to be submitted to Engineering and to have a call back to resolve.
Hopefully if we all band together, they will find the issue and we can get our hearing back after the numbing keytone has been blasted in our ears enough times.
Please share your expierences here, but also note that other threads exist on this forum as well for the exact same problem!!
    And many more!
... And on almost ALL the carrier forums for support as well. If we all ask for help, and not just complain here, we should get a meaningful response and hopefully a fix!  Post up here when your case is in with Apple support.

  • WRT54G interference with cordless phone

I have a WRT54G wireless router. I have changed the channel setting several times so it would not interfere with my 5.8GHZ phone. Still messes up my phone. Any suggestions?

Try using the Channel 11 ... also go to advance wireless settings & Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation
Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings" ....
See if it still interferes with your phone ....

  • Data Connection drops during a Phone call on iPhone 5

Does anyone have a weird issue of data dropping completely during the call? When I place a call the 3g icon disappears completely and nothing that requires data works until I hung up. Once I hang up the 3g service is restored pretty much instantly.

    What carrier are you using?
Some carriers don't support Internt Data while on calls.
Talk to your cell service provider for details about your service.

  • Airtunes:  Audio drops out, but song file is still playing

Ive had a recurring problem that is getting worse, when using airtunes within my home.
I will be playing a playlist, or just a row of songs, & it will start fine.
Then, when a song completes (and only when it completes, not in the middle), & the next song is supposed to start, there is no audio.
BUT: the song will show it is playing (track time increasing) within itunes.
If I pause the song & hit play again, the audio comes through.
This does not happen between all songs, but will drop off fairly regularly (sometimes after multiple songs).
There is no intermitent dropouts, just the exact way I described above.
I have several airport expresses set up to distribute audio in my home.
Given the way the problem occurs, Im assuming its a software problem & not hardware or wifi, ie: its a uniform problem, not intermitent or something that would appear to be a "connection problem".
Very annoying.  No updates to hardware or software have helped.
Any similar problems & answers out there?

have the same problem.  Been maddening.  I did play with the MTUs a few weeks ago.  That seemed to work, moving the MTUs of my NAS and Mini to Jumbo 9000.  Only later my printer on the same ethernet network killed the network (non jumbo support).  I don't know what to do -- very frustrating, especially since the only thing to stream flawlessly are internet radio stations.
    My setup:
    1) Airport Extreme - DHCP, NAT
    2) Gig Ethernet to NAS (iTunes Music), Mini (iTunes App and library files)
    3) Playback to Airport Express from iTunes using AirTunes (wifi)
Music drops for 3-4 songs ...though song itself is playing.  I hit pause and it plays without any problem.  AE appears to be 2010/11 version.  8.02.11N, but not 5ghz new version.
    Driving me nuts.

  • IPhone audio dropping with CDX-GT710HD

I have a new CDX-GT710HD and the audio from my iOS 8 devices randomly drops out.  Sometimes, they become disconnected from the stereo.  I have tried three Apple USB to Lightning cables and one Incase cable.  I have tried both my iPhone 5 and my iPad Air.  Strangely, my 7th generation iPod Nano seems to work fine with a crummy old Griffen cable.
What gives.  I would really like to use my semi-modern iOS 8 devices.  Any ideas out there?
    Thanks.

You are correct. Sony manufactures and markets radios that are not compatible with available at the time of manufacture. My radio was manufactured October 2014, when the oldest iPhone available was an iPhone 5s. I also went round and around with a Sony representative about the deceptive web page that does not show any links that apply to the specific radio, until choosing one of the available tabs.
I am arranging for a refund from Sony and I have ordered a Pioneer to replace the radio. Pioneer detests their radios with the newer phones and the new operating systems. And Pioneer's web site doesn't seem to have the deceptive linking issue.
My 45 year loyalty to Sony is over. I will never consider another Sony product because of this issue and how Sony support treated me. It took reporting the issue to the Better Business Bureau to get a positive response from Sony.
