Airtunes drops out every 15-30 seconds?
Any advice?
As of yesterday, my airport express connected to my stereo stops playing music every 15-30 seconds.
Very annoying!
Did a factory reset and still having the problem.
Any hints?
Sorted itself out after software upgrades at a later date

Audio Drop out @ every 2 seconds
Having issue with the Audio dropping out every @ 2 seconds, indepentant of source (local, sync'd computer and web trailers). Have done factory reset, still doing the same thing. AppleTV is connected to the TV through HDMI connection.
Try turning your tv (not tv) off and on.

Sound keeps dropping out every 40 seconds
My sound was totally fine after Lion update but today no matter what program or internet site that has audio, the sound drops out for about a second every 30-40 seconds on my imac 27". This happens again with itunes, youtube, internet videos etc. I tried resetting the PRAM but no change. I have my imac plugged into an optical cable into my logitech 5500 surround system. Any body else having paused/dropouts intheir audio? Its very frustrating cause its almost as if someone is hitting the paus button on and off every few seconds.
For some strange reason the optical cable from the imac to the speakers has a problem. I replaced it with another one and no more sound issues and everything is fine. I thought optical cables never go bad unless kinked and mine was clearly not. Whatever, everything is made junky these days and nothing lasts.

Broadband keeps dropping out - every 20 mins or so...
This is getting beyond a joke now so really hope someone can help fix this for me. The broadband started dropping out every 20 mins or so about 6 weeks ago and is just getting worse. Any moderators reading this - if I can't get it sorted I'm leaving BT.
Have read a few posts and I think this is the info I need to provide.
I have a Home Hub 3.
Speed test on the line gives download speed of 4.85Mbps and an IP profile of 5.87Mbps.
Upstream test gives 1.18Mbps and a Rate IP profile of 0.83Mbps
I performed the quiet line test and the line was perfectly quiet with no crackles or hisses.
The ADSL stats are below.
Anything anyone can do to help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Phil

Hi, I'm running mountain lion of a macbook pre 13 inch. I have connected my new apple tv 3 to it so that i can home share my music to play on my apple tv. Every 10 or 15 seconds, the song with cut out or drop out for a split second, then continue. Though it can be looked past, it is so annoying! Advise would be much appriciated.
Sorry i also forgot to add that my macbook pro is a few years old, and i use a program called airparrot to airplay videos, but i beleive that airplay and home sharing is totally different..correct me if i'm wrong. thanks.

AirTunes dropping out & External HD Questions
Two questions:
1) Whenever I play my iTunes music over my airport express, my music drops out every once a while and then usually comes back on. Why is that? I am not using the express as my primary base station, just to use airtunes and wirelessly network a printer. I have a Netgear wireless base station.
2) Can I connect an external hard drive to my Airport Express or is it not equipped to do that?
Thanks in advance!Jump365
1) I had the same problem with my PowerBook never had a problem till the 10.4.9 update. Just the other day I installed the newest version of iTunes (7.1.1 ) so far haven't had any more problems.
2) No you can not connect a HD to the Express

Hi all
hope someone can help as i am coming to the end of my tether with my BT Faster Broadband connection
it drops out every few hours and has done for almost 2 months. i cant watch a movie or play a game without losing connection at least once, maybe twice if i am really unlucky.
i got a new hh5 a little while ago and was fine for a while. then the problems started - dropping 2 or 3 times a day. contacted bt and they sent a replacement hh5. no change. eventually in the last few days got worse and its now sometimes dropping at least a dozen times a day, rendering my connection little short of useless.
almost convinced it was a hh5 issue as they seemed to take an age to resynch, so bought an asus dsl-n66u and crossed my fingers.
soon enough, connection dropped again and again.
i have tried 3 different cables, between router and socket, removed the openreach faceplate and plugged a new filter in to the test socket. connected for around 4 hours and droped again.
Connection details from the Asus, with the filter in the master socket - the same as with the openreach filter (as you can see i lost connection again not so long ago.

The OR modem is a couple of years old, not sure of the exact model as it's mounted on the wall behind a piano. Not used it since we have the HH5 or the Asus, but as i said earlier, the same happens with the OR modem plugged in to the WAN socket on the Asus and the HH5 -
I Have an iPhone5 so has my wife, when we connect to Wifi, any wifi, home work or anywhere, it drops out after about 10 seconds, any ideas welcome
I have three suggestions for you (try them in order):
Go to Settings on your iPhone 5, General, Reset (all the way at the bottom), and try "Reset Network Settings".
Turn off your router and modem, wait about 5-10 minutes, then turn on your modem and router respectively.
Call Apple Support. Chances are they'll be able to give you the best support since they know their phone and the problems they've been called about prior to yours. Make sure you have some of your router information ready for them when the time comes. -
Audio drops out for about 2 seconds after about 2 hours
Hey folks....I've been renting HD movies, and I've noticed a bit of a pattern. Three times now, at some point just after about two hours the audio drops out for about two seconds. It's not exactly the same time - on one movie it was at 2:02:26 and another it was at 2:04:18. It's only two seconds, so it's really of no consequence. Just now it was during the closing credits (the music). Before, it was that scene in Batman where the two ferries are stalled on the river.
Of course, I would rewind to make sure. I use the optical out.
Anyone else notice this?Do a hard reset. Hold the power and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

I have a older Time Capsule (not simultaneous dual band) in my home office, and two older AE's (not N) that I use to wirelessly extend my network. Overall it works OK, though maybe not as speedy as it could be.
Lately, my airtunes streaming has been a bit erratic. Sometimes it works fine, other times it has a lot of drop outs. I use airtunes on both my AE's. On my "living room" AE, I use a digital connection to a high end DAC/preamp. On my "garage" AE I use an analog connection to a boombox. Both these setups experience intermittent dropouts.
I could use ethernet to connect my living room AE to my LAN, since I have a wired connection at that location. I can not do that on my garage AE.
First question is would a wired connection be more stable for airtunes? Since this problem may be associated with the Snow Leopard upgrade....I wonder if I'm wasting my time on the specifics of the network.
Second question: when I tried to set up the AE for a wired connection, It doesn't give me the "extend the network via ethernet" option in Airport utility. It only gives me the "extend network wirelessly" option. I moved the AE to the office and connected it directly to the time capsule (to make sure the wired network wasn't the issue) and I still am not given the option to do that.
Thoughts?
Thanks
FabianInkjet....
Thanks for that tidbit. I'll try to remove my wireless AE from the loop and see if the wired AE works any better.
I'm getting the feeling though that this is an iTunes/OS issue, not a network issue. Reading the other threads on this topic seem all involve the upgrade to SL and/or iTunes 9.
As an aside, since my original post on this, I've replaced both the older AE's with the new n versions. I still use the older TC.
Also, I've used AirRadar to examine the "interference" issue. It shows very low levels of interference (though I'm not sure what is acceptable). No other local networks show up which are on the channel I'm using. Again, I just don't think its the network.
Finally, I don't think I'll go to the powerline transmission route. If wired were the answer, I'll find a way to get ethernet to the second AE. However, it needs to be the answer before going through the exercise.

How do you stop airtunes dropping out with AEX/Extreme bridged airports?
I finally found out how to get my Airports networked so that I could use the internet and airtunes to work at the same time, only now neither works well. The connection to my speakers cuts out every few minutes, simultaneously disconnecting from the internet. This is driving me nuts. Does anyone know how I can get this to stop?
Thanks,

Audio briefly drops out for a few seconds
I about half way through a recorded Keynote presentation, the narration audio drops out (goes blank) for a few seconds. It doesn't affect timing.
I've checked the narration file and it's just fine. Narration was done in Garageband. I've re-recorded the presentation again, and it drops out at exactly the same place. The narration was done in one step, so it's not a problem with the method in Garageband.
Keynote 9, v 5.3. 27" iMac, OSX 10.8.5, 16Gb Ram.
Any ideas of how to solve it?
Many thanks,
BillUnfortunately there's no fix for this problem that plagues Classic since release. Considering that a new generation appeared I guess we have no reason to expect a fix anymore.
I also have the problem and it makes the iPod Classic less desirable to be used as a music player than a generic $10 (no name) usb stick. -
Why is the signal dropping out every few seconds?
I have an airport express card in my iMac intel core duo. I have an airport express plugged into my stereo so I can stream iTunes. iTunes recognizes the stereo AX. There is the airport signal icon up on the top bar of the computer screen, which reads all bars solid, then all bars light grey, then all bars solid - this corresponds to dropouts on the stereo. These dropouts do not occur in the computer speakers though, so I know I'm getting the info. Where is this problem originating? The sending card, or the receiving AX? It is maddening. I have tried resetting the stereo AX by pushing the little inset button, but that didn't fix this. Is there a way to reset the card in the computer? What do I do now?
thanksThank you, Glenn - I changed the channel to 11 (I didn't realize there was an option for this, but a little hunting brought up the "Automatic" and 11 channels - so I set it to 11). I already was using interference robustness, and I could tell that helped a little but didn't solve the dropouts totally - and the channel change seems to have solved it. Thanks for the solution!

My AEX seems to be working ok except it drops the mnbps from 5000 to 2700 and 10 seconds after starting airtunes the music stops.

Wireless drops out every evening!
About two months ago the wireless connection on the BB2 router started dropping between about 7pm to 9.30pm every night! I phoned ee about it and after much fiddling about with settings etc they sent me a new router. It was OK for a couple of nights but now the same thing is happening again. It's between 7pm to 9.30pm is when the wifi connection is most needed. During these times I've tried all manner of ways to try and connect our phones and tablets to no avail. They just sit there saying there's an authentication error even when there's no wireless security. One of the tablets, a Samsung Galaxy Pro, sometimes reports that the wifi signal quality is bad. During this time the wired connection on the desktop and laptop is the usual ee fibre quality, connects instantly to a few web pages and then randomly hangs when you try and load up Google! I so wish Virgin were in our area. Never a problem with their service. Ever! Anyone got any idea what is going on? I'm paying £30 a month for this rubbish!
