AirTunes fails for one machine

Janie Porche would not be happy.
All I wanted to do was play some Christmas music from my MacBook Air.
Every. Other. Computer. in the ENTIRE house can connect up to the airport express here and play music. But not mine.
If I attempt to select the express in the 'multiple speaker' dialog box, the box refuses to stay clicked. I get no error message, no possibly HELPFUL hint as to what the **** is wrong. Just none for me.
Everything is up-to-date. iTunes 10.1.1, MacOS X 10.6.5, a very recent vintage N express with 7.5.2 firmware on it.

For anyone that may run into this problem, I went into the 2WIRE router settings and opened up TCP ports 548-554 on my Airport Express. All is running smoothly now!

    Does the user get authenticated in the ACS logs?
    reports and activity----> failed attempts
    ro
    reports and activity----->  passed authentications
    That will help narrow it down.

  • Mount_smbfs fails for one file server but works on another

    I have a simple terminal .command file that i've written and added to my login items. this script mounts two SMB file shares from different servers (win2003). this script has been working for over a month now it fails for one server and works fine for the second one.
    script looks like this:
    mkdir /Users/me/Desktop/fs1
    mkdir /Users/me/Desktop/fs2
    mount_smbfs //winserv1/fs1$ /Users/me/Desktop/fs1
    mount_smbfs //winserv2/fs2$ /Users/me/Desktop/fs2
    When it runs it should use my kerberos credentials to authenticate me to the winserv1 but seems to fail and then prompts for password. If I enter the password in the terminal window it fails.
    the mount_smbfs command for fs2 on winserv2 works fine and uses my kerberos credentials.
    i looked through the system.log for clues and found:

    the cryptic log file entries don't mean much to me - anyone have any ideas what might be happening?

    Turns out that our network time server was having some problems and the the two servers had drifted several minutes off the correct time. Once the time on each server was corrected my kerberos authentication issues resolved.

    Hi IS Oil Experts,
    Iam using the BAPI "BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE_OIL" for posting goods movement. I filled the additional quantities and unit of measures also in the BAPI table, But when tried to execute, Iam getting the error, "Quantity conversion check failed for one item; all qty lines deleted"
    Please anybody tell me what is the error from end for resulting this message.

  • ODBC--connection to 'SQL Serverservername' failed for one user but not another

    In Win7, we're linking tables in an MS Access 2010 db to tables in a SQL Server 2008 R2 db. The driver user by the File dsn is SQL Server version 6.01.7601.17514 & we're using SQL Server Authentication.
    For some reason, one user gets the msg "ODBC--connection to 'SQL Serverservername' failed" before they're even asked for a password, but for other users, the prompt comes up and when they uncheck the Windows Auth box, they enter their password
    and connect successfully to the SQL Server db.  Both users have db_datareader access to the SQL Server db.
    I had the user that gets the error msg log onto my PC and they get the same error (yet it works for me.)
    This user was, however, able to successfully relink the tables, but then when we closed the access db and opened it again, the user got the "ODBC--connection..." error agin.
    I'm stumped as to why this is happening for one user.

  • SCCM Console issue, SQL connectivity login failed for SCCM machine account

    Hi ,
    As part of resolving the corrupt SCCM 2012 R2 environment, we have uninstalled the site from the Standalone primary site and restored it from the last backup. The database is on remote server on SQL 2012 SP1. Only Site recovery is run.
    Post the restoration on unable to launch the SCCM console, Error Could not connect to the site.
    When I checked the logs in the log file SmsProv.log in the program filles\Microsoft Configuration manager\logs, the error is as below

    We have B2B batching implemented for outbound messages. If any one of the messages (to be batched in next cycle) ends in an error, whole Batch is stopped and no message is completed.
    Is there any set up we can do, so that other messages still get batched and processed successfully.

  • Giant FAIL for Time Machine

    Dear Apple,
    Here's a word problem which you appear to have utterly failed:
    User buys a new Mac.
    User transfers account from old Mac to new Mac.
    User sells/retires/recycles old Mac.
    Two weeks later, User needs a file from the old Mac which Time Machine backed up.
    Apple Support tells user that Time Machine backups are tied to computers not to accounts.
    Apple Support says there is no way to get the files that were backed up on the old Mac onto the new Mac
    WTH?!?!?
    This is truly, epically, stupendously wrongheaded.
    Not only does the backup of the new Mac (hopefully) replicate all data backed up from the old Mac (basically doubling the data stored on the Time Machine, and taking a VERY LONG TIME) one might as well totally erase all the old backups since they are now apparently useless.
    Please, please, please, allow users to tie Time Machine backups to accounts rather than computers.
    If not, perhaps you can at least provide at least one reason why tying backups to computers makes any sense.

    I have just set mine up and it is currently doing its time machine bit currently. Only having a macbook air is proving prohibitive for my photography so it looks like I will still be using an additional hard wired hard drive for additional file safety. I was in the Apple shop getting an ethernet cable and asking a few Apple product questions yesterday and was assured the time capsule was the business. Having spent a few hours browsing the web I am beginning to wish I had just bought 2 external drives. Apple frustrate me like this. I love my music and have spent a small fortune on itunes only to be told I have to re-buy some songs. This is a mite frustrating. I love so many Apple products as they are oftens ahead of the times but the way they try to completely strand you on the " Apple Island" is just the pits. It may make a great business case but it is also just too retrictive.

    After a power failure I ran Disk Utility to Repair Permissions on my boot disk and Verify Disk on another that I use to store media files; neither had significant problems. Then I ran Verify Disk (verify, not repair; and disk, not permissions) on my Time Machine backup disk. It started spitting out the errors shown below. The time remaining counted up to 16 minutes, but wasn't coming down very fast so I left it running overnight. My machine is set to not sleep or spin down the disks. The next evening it was down to 12 minutes left, and was still spitting out the same errors. The second evening it was done, having failed out as shown in this log file excerpt:

    Any time Disk Utility says you need to repair a disk, you need to repair it. Period.
    So run it. If it fails to repair everything, run it again (and again) until it either repairs everything or can't repair any more. If it can't repair it, post back and we'll discuss options.
    There's no point in running +Verify Disk+ on an external drive; just run +Repair Disk.+ The only time +Verify Disk+ is needed is for your internal HD (because you can't repair the disk you're running from).
    And you need to do that again because of the forced power-down. Any time there's an abnormal shutdown, it's possible the file system on your internal HD can be damaged. Usually it isn't, but it's possible. If that says you need to repair it, you'll have to boot from your Leopard Install disc and use it's copy of DU. Post back if you need to do this but don't know how.

  • Screen sharing fails for one user

    I have an iMac and MacBook Pro, both running Snow Leopard 10.6.5. I have enabled screen sharing on the iMac, and can log in with one of my other user accounts (Greg). This works fine.
    When i am on my MBP, logged in as Joe, and logged in as Joe on the iMac, i always get an "Authentication failed", but i can connect as Greg ok... I thought it was to do with the currently logged in user having the same short name, so i tried logging in as Greg on the iMac, and connecting as Joe from the MBP, but still no success.
    Is there anything i can check?

    Identical short user names on the different computers shouldn't be a problem - I have multiple Macs with identical short user names and have no problem.
    As an aside, you don't need to already be logged in on the other computer; the VNC connection, if VNC login is permitted for that iMac user, would simply present the remote VNC client with its login screen, at which point you could login to the iMac as any user that you wanted, even though you made the VNC connection as someone else. Similarly, regardless of who is at the console on the iMac, the authorized VNC client user on the MBP can connect and view(/control) the screen(/keyboard/mouse).
    In the iMac's Sys Prefs Sharing, when Screen Sharing is highlighted, what does it say for "Allow Access for:"?
    In the iMac's Sys Prefs Security under the Firewall tab, is the Firewall on? If so, in "Advanced..." is the "Block All Incoming Connections" checkbox unchecked? In the application list there, what does it say about incoming connections for Screen Sharing?
    Finally, the iMac and the MBP are on the same home LAN, i.e., the MBP is not having to traverse through your home router's firewall, correct?

     Good day! I've built a new DPM 2012 R2 server and migrated or re-created jobs from my older 2012 SP1 DPM servers as trying to upgrade them was not working out. The DPM R2 server is running great besides this one issue. The problem is with a file
    and print server at a remote office. Since it has around 750 GB of user data on it I chose to do manual replica creation on the data disk, (E:) but created the C:\ drive replica normally, over the WAN. The manual replica creation was successful, and the initial
    consistency check and recovery point creation worked as expected, however, since then it will not create another RP or run a CC on the E:\ drive. Recovery points on the C:\ drive are being created properly. When I try to run a CC I get this error: "An
    unexpected error occurred while the job was running. (ID 104 Details: Access is denied (0x80070005))" I've tried to drop protection on the two directories of the E:\ drive (retaining data) and re-create, but that didn't help. I've even done a recovery
    from the initial RP to verify that it was created properly, and that worked as well.

    Access Denied error is usually caused by Antivirus software.  Please disable real time scanning on the DPM Server for DPMRA process.

  • Certificate store only valid for one machine

    I'm new in the world of digital certificates and I've found one little big problem that is driving me crazy. I'm using a certificate to establish a SSL connection between a web server and a client browser. This certificate (I'm using Tomcat) is inside a keystore (a jks file). The problem is that this certificate is really important, and the people that provides it does not want it to be used by anyone, so they don�t want anyone to be able to export the private key inside it.
    As I have to include the password to the certificate and the store is a config file, if someone enters in the system as the tomcat user and copies the jks file and also copies the password, will have all the control over the certificate, and will can use it.
    The only solution to this problem I can think of is, and I don�t know if it is possible, is to include the certificate in a computer-dependant keystore. Is there a way to do it? Is there any other method to prevent someone with the privileges of the tomcat user to use the certificate?

    If I understand your problem correctly, then I don't think there is anything you can do short of using a hardware security module (HSM). And even an HSM is not a magical device that can prevent you from using it insecurely. For example, you suggest that you cannot prevent an unauthorized user from logging on with the same account as Tomcat. In that case, even if the private key never leaves the HSM it is still available for private-key operations, a severe weakness. Thus, at a minimum, you must at least ensure that only authorized users have access to the private key regardless of how it stored.
    It is certainly possible to create a computer-dependent keystore, but all such schemes that I am aware are essentially just obfuscation.

  • Bonjour Connections Fail For One user

    Our Mac is connected to a wireless network with some other Windows computers using Bonjour. I set up the connection a few years ago (that was on another Mac but I used the migration assistant to transfer everything without any hitches). Now the connection from my wife's account on the Mac to the Bonjour drives will not work, and I cannot figure out why. The computers show up in my wife's sidebar when "Bonjour computers" is checked in the sidebar preferences. But when you click on any of them the connection fails, and the only error message is "Connection failed." There is no other information. If you click "Connect As," nothing happens. No new error message, no connection, no dialogue box, nothing.
    I checked the Network, Sharing, and Security settings in the System Preferences, and could not find anything different in my wife's account, although it is possible I'm missing something.
    I tried the "Connect to Server" method in Finder and that also fails.
    In my account, and at least one other, clicking on the servers in the sidebar connects automatically, so the problem is only in this account, but I am at a loss how to fix it.

    Any information about my issue?

    We have a VC model that we created and moved to Prod (portal NW04s connecting to BW 3.5 query).  It works fine for user A, but user B gets error:

    Both user have same authorizations in Portal and BW backend.
    There is no trace info on the BW back end, so it seems like the hangup is occuring on the portal side.

    It turns out it was the backend authorizations.  The user was able to view the BW query via the BEX Explorer.  But when she tried to access it via a VC Flex IView, we got that error.  Initially I wasn't seeing any auth traces in the BW system, but then we expaneded the trace and determined the user was missing an activity.   It's a strange error.  Would be nicer to see a 'user not authorized' or something along those lines to better pinpoint the cause.  But we're good now.

    I am working on production workflow issue. Production system is cluster of hospitals for HR system. Staff applies leave from hospital A by keeping approver from hospital B. Workflow is triggering. The problem is work item is not getting placed in Approver inbox.
    So when work item is not placed in approver inbox, We have done following things.
    <li> We have run transaction SWI1_RULE to fix missing agent. This can be used to re-trigger complex user determination.
      After running the t.code, Work item was placed in approver inbox.
    But Staff complained again when he got same problem next time when leave was applied.
    <li> This time we have run transactions SWU_OBUF to refresh workflow buffer(Suggested in forum) and  SWI1_RULE to fix missing agent. After running these t.codes, Work item was placed in approver inbox.
    But Staff complained again when he got same problem next time when leave was applied. We died this time.
    Could you please tell me what kind of R&D we need to do ? By the way, this is customized Leave workflow.

    Okay, that's your problem. FInd out how the agents are determined. Look at the inputs to the rule or method and find out where it's going wrong. How are they determined?
    I don't understand how SWI1_RULE seems to fix this.
