Airtunes konks out after sleep?
Setup: iMac G4 connected to the internet via a router. I use the Airport Express solely for AirTunes, not as a network connection. I've downloaded and installed the latest software and firmware updates for everything I could find.
iTunes and Airport Express work great--until I put the iMac to sleep. After it wakes up, the speaker selector in the iTunes window shows the Airport Express name dimmed (italicized), and playback won't work. My workaround is to launch Airport Setup Assistant and choose "Change Settings on an existing Airport." Once the assistant has identified the network and found the base station, the Airport becomes available again in iTunes.
Help?
iMac G4 Mac OS X (10.4.4)
I've been having the same problem and I just found a fix that is working for me. Using iTunes 8, an Airport Extreme, and a new Airport Express, iTunes would stream to the Express but would cut out for a second every 5 seconds or so. I found an application called Autobahn (http://www.getautobahn.com/) that I observed grabbing some network activity. I uninstalled it and the problem disappeared. The file won't show up in a Spotlight search, it is invisible. If it's on your Mac, there's an uninstaller located in USER/Library/Application Support/Swarmcast (that's where it is in 10.5.5). Good luck!

AirTunes cuts out after working
Hi all
I have a problem when using my AppleTV as an AirTunes device. Music plays from my iMac to the AppleTV for awhile, then cuts out. If I deselect the AppleTV in iTunes as a speaker, then reselect it, music once again plays for awhile then again cuts out. This is the second AppleTV that has this issue, so I suspect it's a software issue.
Anyone had success in addressing this issue?I've been having the same problem and I just found a fix that is working for me. WIFI DROPS OUT AFTER MOUNTAIN LION UPDATE
Since upgrade to mountain lion my wifi keeps dropping out after sleep i have ipad and that is ok.
Had the same problem and this worked for me:
Try deleting following two items:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.db
Make sure you take a screenshot of your current dock since deleting these files will reset your dock to default.
Now open terminal and do a sudo reboot w/ your password.
This solved the problem for me. -
Hi, I'm trying to shut down the phone in the normal way (the Sleep / Wake button and hold down on the Close tab) turns off the display after a while yet, but the phone turns off completely opens up the phone to come out after the apple logo .. What is the reason I'd appreciate if you help how to fix it ...pleasa help me
Doing those doesn't turn off your phone?
As stated hold down the top button only until you see the red slider to power off your phone.
If that doesn't work then take it to Apple and see what they say. -
After maverick update mac won't come out of sleep
After I updated to Mavericks my macbook pro wont come out of sleep modes, I will close the screen or let the computer go to sleep from inactivity and i can see that its breathing but it wont come out of sleep mode and than requires a hard shutdown. It also takes a very long time to reboot and/or restart as it sits on the gray
Sadly, I had the issue resurface today. It went into standby/sleep mode while I was in a meeting (on battery power), and later I tried to wake it, and all I got was a black screen with a mouse cursor.
The keyboard brightness and volume keys on the keyboard were responsive (I could hear the audio level clicks as I changed it), but the visual overlay didn't show (where it shows the white speaker graphic with the bar of rectangles representing volume level). Also, the screen brightness keys did nothing.
I finally used Ctrl + Cmd + Power to force a restart. Luckily, my user account didn't get completely hosed like it did a couple weeks ago.
So, it looks like Migration Assistant isn't the culprit here. This is the system I just finished rebuilding. So it's either a bug in OS X/Mavericks, or it's due to an application I have running, or a configuration change I've made.
It seems to only happen when I'm on battery power, for what that's worth. I don't recall it ever happening when I'm plugged in. I have Power Nap disabled while on battery power, btw.
I'm going to enable SSH access so I can try to SSH in the next time this happens. Perhaps that will provide useful diagnostic info.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions? -
Macbook Pro:
When I raise the lid after sleeping, the screen comes on momentarily then backs out. If I close the lid and raise it again, the same thing happens. It is sometimes necessary to force quit. Once restarted, there is no problem unless the lid is closed for a short time and the machinge goes to sleep.

Device Removal message for internal hard drive after coming out of sleep
Hi,
I have search the forums and all the info I can find seems to just refer to external hard drives, how ever the problem I am having is with the internal drive.
When my G5 comes out of sleep mode, shortly after, I get a Device Removal error message then I loose my second drives and have to reboot for them to return. The drive is a 500 GB divided in two partitions, Mac OS Extended (Journaled), in slot B.
I have used Disk Utility and Tech Tools to check the drive, and the drive passes with no errors. I can't check file permissions as the drive is not a start-up drive.
This problem just started not long after using a USB thumb drive in the front, maybe just a coincidence or something went haywire after ejecting the USB drive?
Thanks,
Bill...DaddyPaycheck wrote:
What brand is the drive?
Do you have a USB hub to try?
Have you checked the disk manufacturer's website to see if there are any updated drivers or firmware available and/or needed?
DaddyPaycheck wrote:
I have two Western Digital drives in the computer, both partitioned into two drives. One is a 1 TB the other a 500 GB. The 1 TB drive is the boot drive and I installed it about 2 months ago. The 500 GB drive, the one that is disappearing, I installed it about 6 months ago. Both drives pass Disk Utility, and TechTools testing (that is before the one disappears).
I do not have a USB hub, I have a DVD/RW connected via Firewire, and I have a USB external 320 GB to use for whatever.
No, I didn't think to check the manufacturer's web site for updates as the drives work fine, just the one 500 MB drive out of the blue I get the Device Removal message. And I am using the G5 at this moment replying here, and so far today I have connected my camera via usb with out issues. -
Apple app windows disappear after coming out of sleep
In Yosemite, after coming out of sleep, some Apple apps are still active but the windows have disappeared. I have noticed this with the Activity Monitor and with the Calculator. I played around with Hide/Show Windows, etc and was finally able to make the Activity Monitor window show up. I was unable to get the window to show up in the Calculator. Killing and restarting the app resolved the issue.
I have not had any problems with non-Apple apps, and Finder and Safari seem to be OK.Further correction: Even when initially launched, after a restart Activity Monitor and Settings will both launch with no windows. There is a window name shown when right clicking on the icon in the Dock and in the application menu, but clicking on the window does not bring it up for display. With no Activity Monitor, you have to use command line, ps command and kill to clear the processes, following which they can be relaunched with all windows displayed.

Mac crashes after coming out of sleep mode
Hi,
Sorry - I'm not good with computers. Last time I posted this someone was really helpful. Does the below allow any further info on why my Mac comes out of sleep, then after a second reboots fully?

Locked out of machine after coming out of sleep mode (passwd not accepted)
info macbook (intel) 10.5.1 (was upgraded from Tiger)
single user setup
after waking up machine or coming out of sleep mode (i.e lifting lid) occasionally cannot login at all, password is refused. Multiple failed attempts. Its not a problem of caps lock on.
Only solution is to force power down of machine and then OS comes back up, HOWEVER, without demanding a password after power up (hardly very secure), afterwards it may work OK for a few days (with a number of sleep cycles) before same login problem happens again.
Is this a known problem? Please do both of the following:
1) Turn the computer off. Press and hold shift. Turn the computer on. Continue to hold shift until you see the spinning gear below the Apple logo. Once it is started up, log in. Does it do the same thing here? If it works, please know this is not a fix, just an isolation step.
2) Test this in another user account on the computer. If you don't have one, create one in: Apple menu> System Preferences> Accounts. Click the lock in the lower left corner if it is locked and enter your password. Click the + just above the lock and type in "test" for all the fields it asks for. If you are on 10.4 or earlier, check off "Allow user to administer this computer". If you are on Leopard, make the account type an Administrator. Click "Create account". Click the Apple menu and select the last item ("Log Out" Account name). Log in as the test account and test. Note: You will have to set it to ask you for a password when waking from sleep (Apple> System Prefernces> Security> Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver)
Let me know the result of those tests. Please make sure to try both, as they will allow me to see what may be causing the issue. -
Fixed my router 'connect' problem after coming out of sleep
After almost 2 weeks of agonizing over this, I think I finally fixed the problem that I was having of my Macbook Pro not wanting to reconnect to my router after being brought out of sleep.
Simply, all I did was try a Wireless G router instead of the N one that I had been using and I have yet to experience the problem again! I had been using a Netgear Wireless N (even forcing it to G did not help) and am now using a Linksys Wireless G instead. Not one issue so far!!Apple Store currently thinks it's a hardware problem

Windows 7 Sleep issues--freezes after coming out of sleep
Running Windows 7 rig with MSI MS-7511 Mobo. Back in October, I purchased a refurb Microsoft Wireless 6000 keyboard and installed it. I THINK this is what started my problems. Since then, computer will go into sleep mode as usual, but at some point after coming out of sleep (maybe a few seconds, maybe an hour) it will totally freeze. The only way to get the system back up is to unplug it and re-start.
I have since uninstalled the keyboard, and tried to restore, but still having the problem. Pretty sure it's a USB problem, but I have tried re-installing drivers (mcp732) and even the MB BIOS. If I run the system without my wireless mouse and with no USB devices, it works fine. I have also tried switching USB devices to different ports, to no avail.
It's not just the mouse that causes the issues, it seems to be any connected USB device.
Also--and I think this is weird-I installed a PCI USB card in one of the slots and transferred my mouse to that and the same thing still happens. Wouldn't that be a totally different set of drivers than the ones that drive the main MB USB devices?
Don't know what to try next . . . want to avoid having to do a Windows re-install if possible.
Below are the errors I get when I run powercfg -ENERGY.
Any ideas? Would like to avoid giving away another two days of my life re-installing my software.

I don't think I've had a setup yet where sleepmode wasn't causing issues, I shut it off.
Sleep has only become an issue with Windows 7, where MS got so aggressive about it, and caused so many problems for so many people, that many have done as you and turned it off! Shame on you Microsoft! Instead of saving energy your customers are leaving their PCs on!
I suspect the OP's problem is with (of all things) the MS wireless mouse/kb driver(s). At first my setup wouldn't work at all, then I dl'ed the newest Intellimouse drivers/software and it worked "better", but I have never been able to get Sleep to work reliably. I finally found that Hibernate works reliably, so that is all I do now. When the PC is done working, it saves to HDD and shuts off. Resuming from this state takes longer than resuming from Sleep, but at least it Works Every Time. -
After 10.7.3 Update, computer freezes out of sleep
I have two computers a new MacBook Pro 13" - 8GBs RAM and a 2x2.66 GHz 6 - Core Intel Xeon (12 core). I have updated both computers today to 10.7.3 Immediately after updating I noticed that both computers are freezing (wheel of death) after coming out of sleep mode. this is happening on both computers.
When I have something open and I come out of sleep and try to do anything, move a page, close a page, anything, it freezes. I have to either Force Quit the program and even sometimes Force Quit doesn't work so I have to Force Shut down the computer.
Anyone else having the same problem?Hi all
I have a 27ins iMac, 3.06 Ghz core 2 duo, 4GB ram.

Fingers starting to automatically reach for alt ctrl delete
Help please???
