Airtunes not appearing - iTunes on DMZ, AEX not

Hi, wonder if anyone else is having this problem. I have a router (Thomson Speedtouch 546T) sharing my internet connection, DHCP running. Then I have a wireless bridge (WRT54GX2): iTunes in on a host in the DMZ (85.xx.xx.xx) . The AEX is getting an IP from the router.
I can see the AEX for administration, no problem. Green light. Just no Airtunes! Yes, it is turned on in the AEX, and iTunes. I have trashed the iTunes plist.
I can see that perhaps the AEX considers the iTunes host and itself are not really on the same subnet? Is there any hiden requirement here I have not considered? Help!

okay, try doing another sweep through Windows Update to see if there is anything additional there (to bring you further up to date after the SP2 install). also check for any optional hardware updates in the "Custom" area. (even with new PC's and componentry there are things worth checking for. found an update almost immediately for my wireless network adaptor, after installing it ... that may have helped with my initial connection problems, though i did enough other things that i'm not sure precisely what did the business.)

Itunes 7, airtunes not working after upgrade

Updated one of my 4 macs with itunes 7. Now the airtunes speakers are not able to choose on this machine, all other machines, running iTunes 6 are working fine. Is this a bug in iTunes 7?

I haven't had this problem, possibly because I use Airfoil for wireless audio streaming, but MacFixit suggests:
"AirTunes streaming broken? Store issues? Enable IPv6 If you are having problems streaming to an AirPort Express base station using the AirTunes function under iTunes 7.0, or having problems accessing the iTunes store, make sure you have IPv6 turned on. In order to change this setting, open System Preferences and click on your currently used interface (Ethernet, AirPort, etc.). Click on the TCP/IP settings for the interface -- at the bottom, you should see a button which says 'Configure IPv6...' click it and make the setting "On." Press the Apply Now button. As we previously noted, however, having IPv6 turned on may result in varied network slowness."

AirTunes not available?

Hello, I searched and read the archived Topic : "Airport Express and Verizon Fios" and initially setting up Airport Express wired to my wifi router helped in setting AE up and configuring it correctly. However, even though the status light on my AE is solid green (not blinking) it leads me to believe I have setup AE correctly, but my AirTunes menu is not appearing as it should be.
When I open up iTunes, I do not get a prompt or pop up window asking me which speakers to select. When I open up iTunes there is no indicator that AirTunes is even installed. How can I tell if Airtunes is setup?
I continued to read on the FAQ for Window users that "If your firewall is blocking the port that iTunes uses to locate AirPort Express, then guess what--you aren't going to see the speaker menu. Fixing this is as easy as opening the right port on your firewall." However I am not using a Windows OS, I am using a Mac Mini OS X.
However, I checked my Verizon FiOS Actiontech M1424WR router and the Firewall security setting was set to "Typical Security (Medium)" I changed this to "Minimum Security (Low)" bur even with this change there is still no AirTunes in my iTunes.
I noticed in the specific firewall settings there is a rule for "Apple iChat" so I enabled that setting and I still do not get AirTunes. What is going on?
Here is some information about my system:
MacMini OSX v10.4.11, 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB SDRAM
iTunes 8.2 (23)
Everything else is current and have the latest updates.

Thanks for the responses, I have it working now.
What seemed to help was first getting the Airport Express and AirTunes working through ethernet first (I wonder why that is not mentioned in the installation manual or the online FAQ,) and then I realized that I didn't have "Look for external speakers" enabled within iTunes. Once I got it working (through ethernet,) then I switched over to Wifi and manually configured my Airport Express settings to join my existing wifi network. (Configuring AX as a bridge was not necessary.)
I have "Typical Security (Medium)" selected on my Verizon FiOS ActionTech Router Firewall, and I enabled the Apple IChat Protocol Port Forwarding for the particular ip address of my MacMini internal Airport Wifi card (this contains the "UDP Any -> 5353" rule.)

Your iPhone is in recovery mode, You need to connect to iTunes in order to recover your phone. Once you do that, you will not have to connect it into your itunes again.

You could try my script ConvertFormat and see if you like the results. Would be easier than inserting the CDs and correcting the tag info again. Just be aware this is a one-way trip. Once you've thrown away some quality to shrink the files you can't get it back without going back to the source. You may better off investing in a bigger drive.
If you just want to squeeze more on the iPod you can use the built-in iTunes option to convert files to a lower bitrate as they are added to the device.

Somehow, a new library has been created for you, as per the following document:
[How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589]
("iTunes 1" is the default name given to a new library if you only have a single library to begin with, and don't specify a name for the new one.)
Can you recall where you had your original library located (if it wasn't in the default location)? If so, hold down the shift key as you launch iTunes, click "Choose library" and browse to the location of your previous library file. Open that one up. By default, iTunes will automatically open the last library you had open (if you don't do a choose library). So once you've opened your old library again, you should have it launching by default from then on.

...i have Windows XP. I followed the suggestion to turn off and on the iPhone and at least now my iphone appears under Devices in itunes. Now I'm having problems downloading picutres from my laptop to my iphone. this is my first iphone and apple product.

New to these forums.
I am travelling atm. Just received a new white iphone 3gs 16gb 6 weeks ago as a replacement on insurance from uk.
No previous problems. Yesterday phone suddenly powered off.
completely dead with around 30% baterry charge remaining.
now briefly shows charge icon when pressing on off button.
connect usb charger shows charging icon, disconnect shows not charged.
have left on for several hours and no more charge stored.
connect to pc and sound denotes usb connection, however message appears (vista)"usb device not recognised".
iphone does not appear in my computer or on itunes.
am travelling down through africa for the next 4 months so cannot visit store or post to apple or receive replacemant until return to uk in april.
is this issue fixable?
moved to iphone from ipod 2 click wheel as that was extremely unreliable and crashed constantly.
have had 2 ipods, 1 iphone 3G and this 3Gs. only 3G worked without problems for a year. All other items failed repeatedly within weeks or months.
are apple going to produce a reliable product one day? functionality is great, reliability is less than 3rd rate.
can anyone help as i face 4 months overlanding with no music, translator apps or phone!!!!

Another thing you can try is to import the pictures when that prompt comes up and then delete the pictures on the iPhone (you can also email them to yourself from the iPhone before deleting them). Once the camera roll is empty on the iPhone try connecting to the computer to test.

I updated to itunes 5 today, and it sees my airtunes audio, but never completes the connection process.

I've been having similar problems.
I also have a faintly ridiculous suggestion, but then we are in a ridiculous situation.
Could there be a link with the amp/speaker set one is using?
For various reasons I've got 3 audio systems going. They are all right, but since the upgrade iTunes will only recognise the speakers on one set up. It also happens to be the one set up that I don't want it to work on.
I know this sounds daft, but it is the best I can come up with.

Airtunes not working with AE and WRT54G Router

Hey all,
I have been trying to get my Airport Express to see my WRT54G router for 2 days now. And each time after I have done mulitple reset on both units and disconnected the LAN line from the AX, I still can't get iTunes to see my Airtunes network.
I have a WRT54G v.2 wireless router. I have gotten the newiest firmware from Linksys and when I got the update, my setting for the router has changed to a WRT54GL router under my settings from the router webpage. I am thinking this maybe the problem, but don't think Linksys would make a mistake with this fireware update. So, i checked multiple times to make sure I got the latest correct update and did so.
Then, I followed the main setup to get the router to see the AX. I am using WEP Key and all, but still have no success. Weird thing is, I have had the AE for a long time and remember last year I threw a New Years party and had it configured correctly to see both my G4 Laptop and G5 Desktop. Now that I have sold my laptop I wanted to use my G5 to send music to the Linksys router to then connect to the Airport Express block. And now it won't see the router when the ethernet cable is disconnected from the AX.
Anyone have any ideas? I really appreciate it.

something appears to prevent your ae to join you LinkSys LAN. And you shouldn't have to enter any IP adress.
From now, you should use the AirPort Admin utility located in the utility folder. This utility will allow you to get into all the ae parameters.
I'm not able to gives you a walkthrough from here but if you linksys have DHCP option activated, your ae should join it by simply giving it the rigth password. Besides, if you have latest firmwire, I do not think you need to add any $ to your password.
Does your router have any other security enable like specific MAC adress?

Airport Express B/G not visible on Airport Utility / Airtunes not working

Hi Everybody,
I'm just experiencing a Airport Express/Airtunes Problem! Everything was working fine. I setted up this 1/2 year old Airport Express B/G as the only device via ethernet cable next to my FritzBox DSL Modem to have a wireless network. I use it for Airtunes / Printer Sharing & Wireless Networking. 1 Week ago I visited my friend, who has a new Airport Express N and we tried to extend his my network thru My AX. As I got back home, I wasn't able to find my airport via airport utility, so i hard reseted it and reconfigured it as I told above. Everything was working fine for about one hour until the music stopped and until then this device could not be found via Airport Utility and iTunes doesn't offer me an option to play music via Airtunes anymore.
But the crazy thing is: I have Internet, Printer Sharing is possible & my roommate can play music via Airtunes using his Windows XP PC and even see the device via the utility.
I tried some settings with the networking security, but there appears no difference neither in iTunes than in the Utility.
Help much appreciated!

This morning a firewall security message showed up: Allow connections of myDNSresponder and Config...? I allowed all connections, it worked for maybe one hour and disappeared again. So I decided to set my firewall settings to "allow all incoming connections" which was set to "set access for specific services and applications.
Now everything works really fine with the airport express!

Airport Express/AirTunes Not Working with New Verizon FIOS Connection

I was just set up with the new Verizon FIOS high speed internet, and now my Airport Express/AirTunes will not connect to my remote speakers like it did previously. The option for them is still there on iTunes, however when I select them, I get the horizontal barber pole for a minute, then the speaker selction goes back to computer.
In more detail:
Previously I had a Comcast internet connection which went through a Linksys wireless router. My Mini picked up the internet with this connection. Then I had an Airport Express hooked up to some remote speakers. They worked fine. Now, I have the Verizon wireless router hooked in directly to my Mini through the ethernet cable. I see the wireless network created by the Verizon router. I still see the wireless network created by the Linksys router. However, my iTunes can not connect to my AE/AirTunes speakers.
Note, I did reset the AE and then using Airport Setup Assistant, tried to locate it again, but it came up with nothing (other than my neighbor's new Verizon router).
Any help would be appreciated.
