AirTunes on one network, Internet on another?

OK, so I strongly suspect the short answer to this question is "No." That said:
I'm living in corporate housing for a while. The Internet is a shared WiFi system that requires me to re-enter a password every 24 hours. I have a personal Airport Express that I'm currently using for printing and AirTunes.
I don't see any way to add my Airport Express to the building WiFi system; I have no access to the router, etc. and my daily password is for one machine only. Plus you have to enter the password on a Web page -- if there's a way to make an Airport Express do that I've never heard of it.
So right now, when I want to print or use AirTunes, I need to switch networks to the Airport Express -- which of course has no Internet access. So when I'm listening to music, I can't do anything else (e-mail, Safari, etc.).
Is there any way -- a widget, a setting, an app -- to convince my MacBook to use one network for accessing the Internet and the other for printing and AirTunes? Or am I doomed to having to swap networks depending on what I'm doing?

I'm afraid your suspicion is correct. Unless you can configure the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) to join the wireless network provided to you, there is no "option" in the AirPort Utility to configure it to provide a password every 24 hours.
Do you know if this network is based on 802.1X technology? That is, does it employ a RADIUS-type server to verify your user credentials (username/password) for access? If so, it may be possible to configure your AX for this type of network.

IPhone 4 erratic Wi-Fi behavior - slow on one network, fast on another

My iPhone is having some troubles. I recently switched to another Internet Service Provider and remade my AirPort network from a WDS to a "normal" extended network (Time Capsule hub and two AirPort Expresses as extensions).
Ever since, my iPhone has been slow on my home wireless network to the point of being unusable.
The funny thing is: the same iPhone works perfectly on the Wi-Fi network at work. And my Macs and iPad (and my wife's iPhone) work perfectly on my home AirPort network.
Somehow, my iPhone and my home Wi-Fi will not play nice...
Can anyone offer some ideas on how to solve this?

I've solved the problem, even though I still don't know what the cause was.
After I completely switched off my iPhone and the rebooted it, my Internet connection was up to speed again!

IMessage works in one network and not another...

Since I installed it I couldn't get iMessage Beta to work on my Mac at home. When I used it at work today, it worked perfectly. But now I'm back home and can't get it to work. Factime isn't working either. What's going on?

In System Preferences <> Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab add the DNS server 8.8.8.8 (it's a Google Public one)
It seems some DNS servers are not working well with this.

Mac OS X Server 10.4 - connect admin tools from one network to another?

Hi,
This may seem quite strange, but I have to do some administration of a server one one network, while being within another one. It seems that if I am able to connect to the internet utside of the office network (e.g. on a public network using wireless), I can just fire upp the mac admin tools and do my work perfectly.
However, if I try to do the same while connected to the company network (which is governed by a OS X Server), I get nowhere. Can't even get a connection.
Is there a way to get around this?

I've run the Server Admin tool over a VPN; from a Mac OS X client (with the tools installed) on a remote LAN to a firewall-based VPN end-point. Worked fine; this configuration can work.
It's possible here that you're encountering subnet routing, as various of the VPN solutions need either send all traffic over the VPN (there's a setting for that), or the local and the target LANs need be in separate and unique subnets. (As is my wont, I typically configure and use an outboard firewall. Not a host-based firewall.)
So this could be a firewall port or three that need be opened (as mentioned in in earlier reply), or this could be subnet routing.

Internet Problem - One site will load, another won't. Then mintues later, the site that previously would load won't and the one that wouldn't will. I'm also pulling up a lot of pages in all text. Pics won't load or only one will load and the rest won't...

Several weeks ago, I began to have some very strange internet connection issues. All the lights on my modem stay on and my computer shows full wi-fi signal, but I suddenly I won't be able to load any pages. Other times, I'll be able to load pages from one site, but not another. It's not the same sites all the time though.... sometimes I'll be able to load pages from one site and not another, and then 5 minutes later it'll switch and I'll be able to load pages from the site I previously couldn't and I won't be able to load pages from the site I previously could. A lot of pages are coming up just text with no pics... and then 5 mintues later that site will load normally and another site will come up just text. It does the same thing whether I'm connecting wirelessly or via an ethernet cable. It also doesn't matter which browser I use (I've tried Safari, Chrome, and Firefox). Although, once in a while when using chrome, I get a DNS error page instead of the usual 'cannot find server'. I contacted my service provider and I'm not losing speed or dropping packets. According to them, the problem I'm having is very strange since diagnostic tests show no problems at all. Perhaps someone has run into this before and has a suggestion?

Then if you have tried all the browsers try connecting the system to yoour router with an Ethernet cable and turn WiFi off. If you have the same problem then it more then likely after your computer, Router or modem or connection from your ISP.
If you get good browsing with the Ethernet cable then it is either the WiFi card in your Mac or the WiFi system in your router.

Sorry, but no. The Time Capsule needs a wired Ethernet broadband connection to be able to provide an Internet connection for connected devices. Check with your cellular provider to see if they have an adapter that might do what you want. Something like this...for example:

There aren't any supported carriers in Pakistan. Apple hasn't released the iPhone there. The OP is using a grey-market iPhone and hence is pretty much on his/her own as regards getting this phone working with the carrier, unless that carrier can help.

Normally the phone will choose the strongest signal.

When one network user is logged in another network user cannot on the same machine

I am working on a home network for 5 family members and we are use to fast user switching. Since getting the server up we can no longer fast user switch. If one network user is logged in and we go to switch to a new user the server returns an error and that user can not log into that machine until the first user logs out. I would expect this to work but I have not had any success.

Windows explorer slow in one window but not another

Hello,
I have an issue on a single PC where a network folder (not always the same folder) will start to run slow if multiple files are selected, either by mouse drag or by holding ctrl/shift.
The very odd thing is I can launch a separate explorer folder and browse to the same folder and every thing works fine. I have the two windows open side by side and one acts normal, yet the other runs very slow. Restarting explorer.exe resolves the issue
but is not an optimal solution.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Sometimes, your antivirus software can slow you down if they are set to scan the network files, you can temporarily turn off these antivirus software or exclude certain folders for a test.

WRT54GC Router showing more then one network

My WRT54GC has been shutting down my internet. When I look at available networks on my computer it shows one secure and one unsecured. When I enter a wep key to get in the network it creates another one so I have Linksy secure network when I access it it creates Linksy secure network 1, 2 etc. It does the same with the one it shows as unsecured. I talk to my ISP and they said my internet is out of range and shuts down. Any ideas on how to fix this?

First of all, in the router, give your network a new unique SSID. Do not use your old SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Next, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Delete any networks with your old SSID. Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. Reboot computer. Return to "Preferred Networks" and enter your new network info (the new SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your new network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings". Reboot computer. Your computer should connect automatically to your router (it can take up to 2 minutes). If you still have trouble, temporarily turn off your computer software firewall and try again to connect.
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless adapter.
Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching from WEP to WPA encryption.
Also note:
For WEP, enter WEP "key 1" (found in the router) into your computer, not the WEP password or passphrase.
For WPA or WPA2, enter the key (sometimes called password or passphrase) into your computer.
If you are able to connect to your new SSID, but you still see your old SSID listed in "available networks", then your old SSID is either from your neighbor using the same SSID, or it is simply a "ghost" listing (caused by your wireless adapter software) which is not real and which will disappear in a few days.

Hi, your license to NM has either a 3 or 8 computer limit depending on if you got Essentals or Pro.
If you are at your limit and want to take a computer off the license to make room for a new one, you should contact NM by phone.

Copying Adjustments from One Work Station to Another

I have several computers, three of which are Macs and two of which I use for image processing. They are all networked but I can't figure out how to copy the work I do at one workstation to another workstation. Each has its own Aperture library and it seems impractical (perhaps impossible) to use a library on a network drive.
While I can easily export a version as an image, I can't see a way to export the adjustment information for a selected image and transfer it from one Aperture library to another. In Lightroom, this is easy. I just export the information to an XMP file, transfer the XMP file to the other workstation, open Lightroom there and import from the XMP file(s). Viola! I now have all the adjustments I had made at the previous workstation and can continue exactly where I left off. I can't find an equivalent of this in Aperture. It seems the only way to do this is to export an entire project and then import it to the other library. Is that correct?

Correct. With Aperture the only way to share adjustments is to export projects from one machine and import them on another.
Having 3 machines where you work on Aperture independently is a way to have a complicated workflow. It's best to have a primary machine, and perhaps a laptop you take for field work, where you export projects when you return to the studio and import them to your primary machine. That works great.

Not able to copying files/folders from one Document Library to another Document Library using Open with Browser functionality

We have SharePoint Production server 2013 where users are complaining that they are not able to copy or move files from one document library to another document library using “Open with Explorer” functionality.
We tried to activate publishing features on production server but it did not work. We users reported following errors:

Tried to map the document libraries and still not get the error to copy files:
In our UAT environment we are able to copy and move folders from using “Open with Explorer” though.
We have tried to simulate in the UAT environment but could not reproduce the production environment.
Any pointers about this issue would be highly appertained.

Hi John and all,
One the newly created web applications that we created few days back and navigated to document library, clicked on “Open with Explorer”, we get this error.
We're having a problem opening this location in file explorer. Add this website to your trusted and try again.
We added to the trusted site in Internet Explorer for this web application, cleared the cache and open the site with same document library but still get the same above error.
However, another existing web application (In same the Farm) that we are troubleshooting at the moment, we are able click on “Open with Explorer”, login in credentials opens and we entered the details we are able to open the document
library and tried to follow these steps:
From Windows Explorer (using with Open with Explorer), tried to copy or move a files to
source document library.
From Windows Explorer moved this file to another destination document library and we got this error.
What we have to achieve is users should be able to copy files and folders using
Open with Explorer functionality. We don’t know why Open with Explorer
functionality not work working for our environment.
Are we doing something wrong?

we hope concepts of copying / Moving files are similar as SharePoint 2010. Our production environment is SharePoint 2013.

Can printer connect to more than one network?

Hello.
I just bought the wireless HP deskjet 3050 printer. I've connected it to the internet (network) and it's working perfectly. Is it possible to connect to more than one network? We have more than one internet line in the house so I was wondering if I can set it up for both lines. I understand that I can print with multiple computers on the same network (and I am able to do so), but how about on different networks?
