Airtunes stopped working

I performed the update to 10.5.8 today. Since then, I get this error message when I try to play itunes music over Airtunes:
"an error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "chumpchangenet". An unknown error occurred (-15000)."
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?
thanks

I have just done exactly the same thing with the same outcome. I too was having the error message referred to above, even though AirPort Express and iTunes had been working fine previously after their respective updates. I was getting the error message when my MacBook was unplugged, so followed the procedure, plugged in and it came right on. No drop-off when unplugging.
This is bizarre. I have to confess that when I first read the solution I was a bit dubious, thinking it was either coincidence or a proximity thing - you might have your plug near the router or AE, for instance. Very odd.

  • Airtunes stopped working suddenly

    after 3 years my airtunes decided to stop working in our new apartment. I restarted it, set it back to factory settings and re-did the set-up, and still nothing. any ideas on the fix would be helpful!

    it keeps saying the connection can'e be established... does that help at all?

  • AirTunes stopped working with iTunes 7

    Let me preface this post by saying I didn't really know how to categorize this post (MacBook Pro problem? iTunes problem?)
    So I was as excited as the next nerd about today's Apple announcements and of course I performed a System Update on both my Macs as soon as i got home from work so I could check out some of the new features in iTunes 7.
    All things being equal (my network settings on my machines have not changed), AirTunes no longer works on my MacBook Pro. My 12" PowerBook still works just fine (man, that little machine is bulletproof....), but the MacBook Pro refuses to connect.
    I've tried rebooting the MacBook Pro. I've tried restarting the AirPort Express. I've double and triple checked all network settings... what gives?
    iTunes on the MacBook Pro detects the presence of my AirPort Express... it just won't allow me to select it as an audio output...
    Any ideas? I realize that iTunes 7 has only been in the wild for a couple of hours now, so perhaps not a lot of folks out there are familiar with it yet.

    IP6 did the trick. Who knew
    Weird, huh? I think I found that in the iTunes for Mac discussion.
    I don't know much about IPv6, but since the only computer I connect up to the work network already had IPv6 enabled, I'll just leave it enable on the network at home, too. I vaguely remember turning it off a long, long time ago for some reason (I think maybe troubleshooting what ended up being a cable company problem) and I apparently never had a reason to turn it back on...

  • Airtunes stops working after upgrade to Leopard

    I have a 12" G4 and my wife has a Macbook. We've used airtunes/airport express connected to a netgear wireless router for years to play music over our stereo system. Ever since upgrading to Leopard, our airtunes has ceased to function. The airport express unit flashes its yellow light and it is not detected by the airport utility. Our internet continues to function fine through the netgear router.
    I've searched forums all over the web and have not found any solution to this issue. Many people seem to have variations of the same problem, whether it's compatibility with Front Row or just a wireless network in general. I've updated software, set my firewall to allow all incoming apps, etc. The only other solution i've heard is to delete a kext file from the extensions folder, but that doesn't work either.
    Does anyone know if there is a fix to this or is Apple abandoning this hardware?
    Thanks, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • Airtunes stops working

    I have airtunes enabled on a stero in my house. Sometimes it works perfectly, other times, when I open itunes, the stereo is not available as an option (only computer).
    So far the only way I have found to remedy the situation is to reconfigure the airport estreme base station. Reconfiguring the airport express where the stereo is plugged in does not seem to fix the problem.
    Any ideas as what might be causing this problem?

  • Airtunes stopped working after updating to itunes 12.0.1

    After updating to 12.0.1.26 from 11.something on a windows 8.1 Vaio Pro pc, I only get the error message "an error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device (embarrassing name)The network connection failed."  when trying to play music on an old Airport device.  The internet connection is fine on the pc, os and drivers are up to date, and airport continues to work perfectly in my ipod touch, which sadly has become my new home stereo until Apple fixes this.  Please please do fix, we really depend on streaming music/podcasts/internet radio at our house.

    The latest version of itunes (12.1.0.71) completely remedied the problem!  Thanks for listening.

  • Airport express has stopped working when college switched network to 'N'

    Hi all,
    My university has just switched their wireless to 'N'-band. My airport express ('G') is now upset: not only has airtunes stopped working (I previously had joined it to the dorm wireless network), but I can no longer even access my airport in the Airport Utility (5.3.2).
    I've done a hard reset of my airport express and I still cannot access the device via the airport utility. When I click 'rescan', the device is never found.
    I have noticed, however, the default network "Apple Network 600eab' appearing among my wireless network choices. Unfortunately, Airport never actually lets me join that network.
    Does anyone have any ideas I can try?
    Thanks
    LD

    I've had to go back to firmware 7.4.1 and that seems to work.  Anyone know what is up with 7.5.2?

  • Airtunes Suddenly Stopped Working After Update

    In the last two weeks i installed Leopard and the most recent iTunes update.
    today first time i try to use Airtunes - which worked fine before. i open iTunes and see my Airport Express Airtunes in italics in the output choice box at lower righthand corner of window. close and reopen iTunes, and now that output choice box has totally disappeared!
    using a 2005 Mac Mini with WLan wireless USB stick connecting to Airport Express. the wireless internet connection is still working ok.
    what's going on?

    I've had Airport issues in the past after updates. Even though the Internet connection was fine, I would have printing issues. Shutting down the Airport and modem and then restarting has seemed to fix the issue for me. You might try it.

  • When iTunes closes I get " iTunes has Stopped Working message"?

    iTunes works and runs fine on my Vista Ultimate system, however, every time I close iTunes I get a message stating that iTunes has stopped working. I havn't noticed any functionality loss, it's just that the dialog box is annoying. I just did a recent clean install of my Vista OS. Was the same way on last two versions of iTunes. Ran and installed Windows updates, reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime. Created and additional user and same message for that user.
    Running Norton 360, Ghost 12, Logitech 518 mouse G15 Keyboard, and software is Nero 7 ultra, Pinnacle Studio 11, PowerDVD 7, Call of Duty: UO.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    I experience a similar issue.
    iTunes runs fine, and I can sync my nano as I did on XP.
    When I listen to music through my Airtunes device, music streams just fine,
    but when I close iTunes, I get the "Stopped working"-message.
    If I change back so I listen on the computer instead, and then close iTunes, everything closes just fine without the error.
    The error is reported as follows in Event Viewer:
    Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 7.4.3.1, time stamp 0x46f9e539, faulting module iTunes.exe, version 7.4.3.1, time stamp 0x46f9e539, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x001227ac, process id 0x1348, application start time 0x01c80b73fd90b27c.
    Do you also use AirTunes when you get the error?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • All printers stopped working

    Hello,
    Within the last week, ALL of my printers stopped working with my Blackbook.
    Previously, I printed wired and wirelessly (airport express) to my HP C3180 at home as well as two Dell laser printers at work. Now all of a sudden, I can't print anything.
    I know the HP and my Mac still communicate because I can print a test page and scan. But if I try to print, the print utility says: "Communication Failure: The computer is no longer able to communicate with your printer. Turn the printer off, check your printer connections and check for printer errors, and turn the printer back on."
    I used the HP Uninstaller and then reinstalled the latest software and drivers. Still nothing.
    One Dell at work gives an error 99. The other color Dell just says Stopped in status and I can't get it to resume no matter what I do. Both print fine from other computers, both Mac and PC. I deleted them from my preferences and added them again, still nothing.
    The only thing that has changed recently is my wireless router. I moved my Airport Express to my stereo for Airtunes and am now using a Belkin wireless router. I can't imagine this is what made ALL of my printers stop working with my Mac.
    What should I do? Any ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Hope all is well.
    Ciao,
    Rodrigo

    Figured it out. Unplugged base station and printer. that apparently rest everything and it's working fine now.

  • Airport Express Wireless Network Suddenly Stops Working

    Hi, I have a wireless network set up with a single airport express using WPA/WPA 2 Personal wireless security. The 5 daily clients on the network are 2 Mac laptops (Both Mac OS X.4), 2 PC's (1 Windows XP and 1 Windows Vista), and an iPhone.
    Internet comes in from a Comcast connection directly into the airport express, which is set to create a wireless network and play music wirelessly using AirTunes. The Base station software is up to date, on Automatic Channel selection, and connecting to the internet using DHCP, automatic configuration and sharing a public IP address.
    For some reason, every couple of weeks the airport network just stops working altogether. My Macbook Pro shows that it still has a connection with full signal to the network but has no internet connection. When I disconnect and try to reconnect, all attemps to reconnect fail. No other clients are able to get internet at this point, and I cannot even access airport settings from my Macbook Pro unless I manually reset the airport by unplugging and plugging it back in. With this reset the network starts to work again immediately and continues for several weeks again. Does anyone have any idea why it would have this random shut-off every few weeks? Thanks

    I have a similiar problem. Every now and then, connecting to my Airport Express network results in "there was an error joining the airport network". It appears to me that this happens at random. Usually, the problem is solved by rebooting to Windows XP using Boot Camp, connecting to the network and then rebooting to OS X.
    Recently, it's become worse: the problem persist but sometimes even rebooting to Windows doesn't solve it anymore. When I try to find out what's going on using the Airport Utility, the program tells me "airport utility was unable to find any airport base stations". The only thing that helps in this case is resetting/unplugging my Airport Express and reconfiguring it.
    The problems occur independently from the type of security I'm using. It's very annoying and disappointing, since my current high-end MBP has this problem and my previous mac (an iBook) never had it.

  • Itunes wont open and gives me a message saying "Itunes has stopped working".  What can I do to fix this?

    I use windows vista and I have upgraded my itunes.  Now when I open it, it gives me a message saying "itunes has stopped working"  and then gives me a message saying it will notify me for a solution.  What can I do to fix this so it can open and not give me any more problems???

    First you can try;
    Try restarting PC and run itunes again!
    If error again than perform clean instal of itunes (uninstal first and than instal again)!

    I reloaded iTunes 10 (64 bit) successfully, but the problem remains the same.
    Any suggestions?

    I looked in the folder from which I want to synch photos, but there is no such thing as an "ipod photo cache" in that folder, or sub-folders, as suggested in the link which you were nice enough to provide.
    I have also tried removing photos from my iPad2 Photos App, and "iTunes has stopped working" shows up  again as soon as I click on the "Synch photos from" button.

  • Since I installed a printer software Satellite L300 has stopped working

    Hello there!
    I'm new here so not really sure if I'm posting in the right place. Mods, please feel free to move to the relevant section, thank you.
    OK I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 Laptop and ever since I installed a printer software on Wednesday night, my laptop has suddenly stopped working!
    Ever since Thursday night, I have been trying to get it working but I'm faced with this message:
    when i load it up it goes to Windows error recovery:
    'windows has failed to start.a recent hardware or software change might be the cause
    if windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly,startup repair can help diagnose and fix the problem.if power was interrupted during startup,choose start windows normally'
    then it gives two options: Launch startup repair (recomended)
    start windows normally
    ==========
    -so i click launch startup repair (reccomended)
    -then a scren loads up called 'system recovery options'.. it says: select an operating system to repair and click next.only windows vista operating systems are listed and can be repaired
    if you do not see your operating system listed, click load drivers to load drivers for your hard disks'.....
    but nothing comes up so i click load drivers and it just gives me loads of random folders...and i haven't a clue which ones to load
    ========
    5 years ago Report Abuse
    Additional Details
    so i just click 'next'
    ========
    then i have 5 options:
    -startup repair
    -system restore
    -windows complete pc restore
    -windows memory diagnostic tool
    -command prompt
    ==========
    startup repair says it cannot manually fix any problems
    -system restore just says your computer is in a limited state and performing this action cannot be changed...but there is no option to do so
    -windows comple pc restore says i need to insert a backup disk which I dont have
    windows memory diagnostics tool says that windows is preventing this
    ============
    but on the system resotre it tells me to type something like: rstrui.exe /OFFLINE:C:\Windows
    but i don't know where...i typed it in the command prompt but don't understand how to use it
    =========
    i also tried to click start windows normally but it won't work

    If the problem is installed software, start notebook in safe mode and try to start system restore from there.
    Please let me know which options are available. Can you roll back OS few days back?
    Are some restore points listed there?
