Airtunes working - Internet NOT

I have a road runner router with two macs on it... all is good
Have airtunes working on it's network and AM streaming Itunes to stereo.
I want to connect TO the airtunes BASE from my wireless laptop .... The laptop DOES see the airtunes network and can log on _ BUT the airtunes network doesn't seem to be getting INTERNET connection info from my road runner model and is essentially DEAF to the actual internet.
Help?

Try pulling the power plug from the AX for a minute, then plugging it back in.

  • Airtunes works, internet doesn't?

I recently moved my airport from one cable connection in my house to another. the internet was working fine before i moved it. i moved it closer to my stereo in order to use the airtunes feature, which is working beautifully with a steady green status light on the airport. i know that the internet signal is good because i've connected via the ethernet wire that connects the modem to the airport. i've attempted resetting the airport, unplugging the modem and the airport and replugging them in various sequences and lengths of time. i've also used airport setup assistance, all to no avail. i would very much appreciate any assistance with this matter.

Agreed - seems impossible. I still think the underlying problem is most likely a misconfigured Airport Express or a connection to the ISP that has not been properly reset. But when all other possibilities have been exhausted, and since this Airport Express was previously working perfectly with the same modem in the same house...
    In your situation:
Since you have been assigned a static IP address (and presumably you have also been supplied with the required subnet mask, router/gateway IP address, and domain name server IP address(es)) - you need to run the Airport Admin Utility, select your Express, click Configure, click the Internet tab, select to "connect using ethernet" and "configure manually", then enter all these parameters into the fields provided, then update settings to the Airport Express. As for your Macs, they should all still be configured to obtain an IP address automatically using DHCP in System Preferences->Network->Show Airport->TCP/IP tab.

  • Wireless internet not working on my mac for new network..

Im visiting my boyfriend and for some reason my macbook wont pick up his wireless network. All other pc computers in the house seem capable apart from mine. I usually use wireless via my airport router at home. Here it's Tiscalli.
At first it asked me for the WEP password as normal but when I entered the correct password it would say 'connection failed' after trying to connect via that password. (this still sometimes happens)
Then both the desired network and other local networks kept being recognised and disappearing intermittedly (This is still happening) When on the pc laptop the network wireless signal for all remain constant. Often it would also show local networks but not the desired one for the house.
Occasionally it would log me on to the desired network without a password required and show varying levels of signal but the actual internet browser wasnt detecting a connection and was unable to load pages. I also tried another browser - same problem. When it does this, in Network system preferences under 'Connected,' it says 'Airport is connected to SpeedTouch266FC2 and has the IP address (then numbers) Prior to that - it said that Airport had a self assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet (or something similar)- that message went away and was replaced with the former after I changed the ip address section as detailed below.
Now mostly when I click on the network name - SpeedTouch266FC2 = it makes the system preferences window freeze on the lil rainbow wheel and shows 'application is not responding' in the dock so I have to force quit.
Ive had a scout round the net - someone suggested entering a web address on your browser that dealt with internet settings but didnt require a connection. http://192.168.1.254 amongst other similar addresses that could work. This didnt work - but not in the normal way for the browsers - instead of address not found, itd come up with took too long to respond or connection failure.
I also tried (as suggested on another forum) changing the TC/IP section settings from 'DHCP' to Manually, entered the suggested numbers from a forum - IPv4 Addres - 192.168.1.110, Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0, Router - 193.168.1.1, Configure IPv6 - Off. Ive absolutely no idea what all that means but it did nothing.
The rest of the laptop works normally

Not quite sure why you posted in the iPod nano forum?
Maybe the MacBook forums would be better?

my iPad cannot connect to my internet.  the internet is working but not with my ipad.

Call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and explain them your issue, it could range from having your router configured incorrectly to having a wiring issue. Personally, I have Comcast and they are great, no issues, and awesome customer service.
Hope you get up and running ASAP

my mini is connected to the wifi network, but is not able to connect to the working internet... can anybody help, please?

192 is local address within your network.
Unless the adddress is of a server that can reolve URL names to ip addresses you wont be able to load an external web page.
You can check what it should be by checking your router status page.
Or if you have an iOS device check under settings, W-Fi, select the network your attched to, then see what is next to DNS.

  • Internet not working after installing "StarTech Thunderbolt Docking Station" driver

My Internet is not working after installing "StarTech Thunderbolt Docking Station" driver although "Ethernet" and "wireless" say they're connected, still there is no internet.
I have bought a "StarTech Thunderbolt Docking Station" as I need to use 2 thunderbolt based pieces of equipment on my "MacBook Pro"; which are a 2nd monitor as well as a Thunderbolt driven Audio Interface.
When I first plugged all my equipment to the "StarTech Thunderbolt Docking Station" everything was working fine, all pieces of equipment worked as well as Ethernet from both the computer and the docking station were working perfectly.
However, when I inserted the "StarTech Thunderbolt Docking Station driver CD" and installed the drivers, the internet on my computer has stopped working. Although the Ethernet says it is "connected" (same goes for "Thunderbolt Ethernet" when cable is connected to it) still the internet does not work. Even my wireless internet is not working anymore. Furthermore, also after installing the Docking Station drivers, my iTunes is crashing whenever started.
Please help, this is really urgent.
I've been looking for answers all around but can't seem to find any.
    I'm using OSX Mavericks 10.9.2
I've tried fixing stuff with Network preferences, like changing IP address, renewing DHCP leace.
I also tried typing IP address, Subnet Mask, Router and DNS Sever manually... Nothing seems to be working.
Note: I know someone could suggest to "uninstall" the Thunderbolt Station driver, however, I can't find an "uninstallation file", even the CD that came with the docking station does not have it.

I had exactly the same problem today, and I was lucky enough to solve it.
    Here's what helped me:
First, I found a hint to Suspicious Package in this thread.
With Suspicious Package installed, I was able to identify the script in StarTech's installer pkg. It' called "postflight".
Amongst other things, postflight runs this command:
    sudo mv usr/share/sandbox/mDNSResponder.sb usr/share/sandbox/_mDNSResponder.sb
A quick check in Apple's knowledge base revealed, that the mDNSResponder is essential to use DNS (i.e. to resolve server names like www.apple.com) and bonjour.
I moved th mDNSResponder back to where it belongs:
    sudo mv usr/share/sandbox/_mDNSResponder.sb usr/share/sandbox/mDNSResponder.sb
After a reboot, everything worked fine again.
I have no idea, why StarTeck disables an essential tool. Let's assume it's an error ...
But after this experience, I didn't want the StarTech ethernet driver on my machine (I had installed it just for curiosity, anyway - yes, I know, I shouldn't have ...), so I removed the kext the installer had copied to my system:
    sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleIntel8 2580.kext /Users/myusername
(You see I didn't delete the kext directly, I just moved it away and tried another reboot. Now everything works fine, so I'm going to delete the kext entirely and paint a big red cross on StarTech's installer disk.
    Hope this helps.

  • Internet not working after turning Airport on

    Hello,
All of a sudden, I can not connect to the internet when I turn the Airport on. The signal looks strong. But when I open my browser, it gives an error page. On a cafe where there is a free wireless internet that I go to often and had no problems connecting, gave me this message recently.
    IP Configuration
192.168.1.46 in use by 00:18:39:88:81:fc, DHCP Server 192.168.1.1
Is there anything that I need to update in my Airport settings? If so, where? I have been trying to look for that and don't seem to have any luck.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
Does the issue happen to all users? What’s your IE version? Is there any error when you access OWA 2007 in IE?
Please click Compatibility View settings in your Internet Explorer. Then, add the OWA site to the list of sites to be viewed in compatibility view and check whether the issue persists.

  • My Extreme is not seeing a working internet connection

My airport extreme will not see a working internet. The assist utility tells to recycle the modem, and I did. Then the apple extreme assigns its own iP address and the airport utility is telling me that it has no internet connection. Since my internet connection works fine in ethernet mode, directly hooked up to my Imac, I think that the apple extreme is prehaps fried.
I have reset the apple extreme about 3 times going thru the steps outlined in the utility and it ends up every time assigning itself its own IP address because it can't see the internet.
The only thing that I haven't done is try to set it up with no security, but I don't remember a step for this, unless if you don't give it a password, it will not set up any security.
Any ideas, or is it fried and I should get a new one.

I know that you tried a number of resets, but please give the following a go:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.
